Yanks sign Bruney, done with arb cases
ByAccording to PeteAbe, the Yankees have signed reliever Brian Bruney to a one-year deal. This locks up all of their arbitration-eligible players. We’ll update one the final figure is in. In avoiding arbitration, the Yankees have signed Melky Cabrera to a $1.4 million deal, Chien-Ming Wang to a $5 million deal, and Xavier Nady to a $6.55 million deal.
Update: It’s for $1.25 million.

MLTR has the figure at 1.25 million.
This brings the 2009 Opening Day Salary (18 confirmed players) to $193,350,000.
Again, with 7 spots up for grabs, looks like the Yanks could open at under the 200 million mark.
thats all? even after pettitte?
Well, that’s with the opening day amount of Pettitte’s salary at $5.5M….
I guess if you figure he get’s 10, it’s closer to 197….
does sergio mitre’s contract not count? is n’t he not getting paid during his steroids suspension? or is he?
