Joba treats Nebraska family to a Disney vacation

By Mike Axisa

Just like last year, Joba Chamberlain will be bringing a hard working student and their family down from Nebraska to enjoy an all-expenses paid Disney vacation. This year’s lucky kid is 11-yr old Jazmine Meyer King, a student at Clinton Elementary in Lincoln, who will be joined by her parents and brother. The vacay starts this weekend, and it’s great to see any player, not just Joba, giving back like this. These stories are too few and far between.

Ryan S. says:

I’m sure this will get just as much attention from the press as his DUI charge.

Joe G. says:

Just like EVERYONE talked about Mattingly’s positive comments about A-Rod.

Ryan S. says:

The media really friggin’ hates giving the Yankees positive press. I don’t understand why only Yankee-centric media outlets give a fair and balanced point and view.

jsbrendog says:

and then get hammered for being yankee homers

I wish I could find a picture of young Jazmine King and her family. I’m from Lincoln and went to highschool with a Richard King who, if memory serves, had a kid our senior year; might be the same guy.

(Lincoln’s not that big.)

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Do you remember if he was a big fan of the movie “Aladdin”?

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Look in your yearbook. Does it say…

TSJC, I can’t believe we finally graduated! What a ride!
A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
Or where to go
Or say we’re only dreaming
A whole new world
That’s where we’ll be
A thrilling chase
A wondrous place
For you and me

Funny, but I think you may be thinking of the wrong Jazmine that the girl would have been named after.

I can only imagine what kind of charities Joba will commit do when he signs that 5 year, $100M extension in 2013.

Joe G. says:

Hopefully he teams up with CC’s charities and distributes sammiches to all.

barry says:

Joba is a quality dude. Hopefully he gets the nod for opening day at New Yankee Stadium because, not that I don’t love CC, Joba is homegrown and he deserves that legendary start.

Slugger27 says:

i dont think “deserve” is the right word, but i wouldnt mind seeing him get that start… but moreso because hes clearly very popular with the fans, and yes, a damn good pitcher

Drew says:

He did something great like this last year with something dealing with Disney World, I can’t remember the specifics. He’s a great young player and person.
