I know the article says 9-10 months is normal, but, it's not.

Pettitte had his flexor tendon repaired in late August '04. He was ready for normal workouts when spring training began 6 months later.

Mike Hampton had the same surgery in April '07, then pitched in winter ball in November 7 months later (and promptly tore his hamstring, which I expect someone to blame on the elbow surgery).

Glavine just had the same surgery in late August and is expected to be ready for spring training, again 6 months after surgery.

Scott Proctor had the same surgery this past October and has just started throwing off a mound recently. He won't be ready for the start of spring training, but it sounds like he's on pace to match the others with an approximately 6 month time frame.

Want to see something cool?

Next time your on the mound, put the controller down for about 30 seconds, and watch.

Been playing MLB The Show 08 a few times a week since it came out last year.

Downloaded The Show 09 from the store tonight, and I hope its just an early build, but the game was very choppy. Each pitch suffered broken framerates which made it impossible to time your swing.

Fielding was smooth, and the new shadows across the field are a nice addition over last years version.

Hopefully they have this straightened out for the real game hits stores later this month. Might have to wait for reviews, instead of getting this game on day one as I originally planned. Like I said, hopefully the choppiness was a demo-only glitch.

He does stay on the 40 man, I just checked. It's no biggie. I wouldn't claim him, there's no way to justify DFA'ing someone the Yanks 40 man to make room for him.

I thought that was it too, though they could put him on the 60 day DL presumably with the rehab he won't be ready for a few months.

For the yanks i don't see it, they don't need a decent 5th starter
