The A-Rod circus

By

Just what we need today: more A-Rod. Stick with me for a minute, though. From time to time River Ave. Blues works with the Blogy by Fans network (In Mo We Trust, formerly Depressed Fan). They’ve launched a Spring Training ’09 blog, and I’ve written an article on the Yankee experience. It’s nothing new, but do me a solid and check it out. If not my article, than the rest of the site. It’s something else to help kill the time between now and Opening Day.

  1. “Spring Training is a time of hope. All 30 teams have a shot in February and March.”

    I laughed at that.

who do you guys think dislikes the yankees more: gammons or lupica? i kinda think lupica after this morning’s artilce

    • JohnnyC says:

Lupica, who grew up a Yankees fan in New Hampshire, has had a 20 year feud with Steinbrenner (at the time, for all the right reasons) that crested with the Howie Spira/Winfield affair. Since he wanted the Yankees to win and saw The Boss (Lupica coined the name) as the greatest obstacle to that (this was the ’80s remember), he used his column to mount an almost daily and sometimes vicious attack against George for years. Even with George offstage now, Lupica would like nothing more than a change in ownership. Ironically, his diatribes against the Yankees take on added vehemence simply because he is still a Yankees fan. Gammons’ take on the Yankees is simply that of a Red Sox die-hard fan. No internal conflict there.

    • A.D. says:

Lupica by a mile, Gammons is just a Red Sox homer, which can be annoying, but he isn’t the douche that Lupica is

Ben/Joe/Mike…..chat/live blog during arod press conference?

    • rbizzler says:

I hope so. I am stuck at work with no audio and would love a liveblog of some sort.

To keep this on topic, I live in DC, and I can tell you that at least one of the 30 teams carries little World Series hope into the season (despite the Adam Dunn signing).

  4. Austin says:

Anyone know what channel the conference is on?

  5. Mike says:

…BET, MTV, ABC, NBC, NESN, CBS, CNN, FOXNEWS, MSNBC, NHL Network, NFL Network ;)

  6. WhizzoTheWize says:

Unless he shoots someone on camera,
Whizzo is, was, and shall remain
    completely bored by this.

Box scores press idiots, box scores!

  7. Jerry says:

Never mind what A-Rod used or when. Who cares now? He’s gone from telling Katie it was nothing at all to admitting it was something — he wasn’t quite sure what — to offering specifics on what it was and where it came from: the DR.

What he used, or has been using, isn’t the story anymore. People aren’t going to debate his past “or talk about my future as if it’s already been determined.”

Oh, no. They’re be too busy knockin’ on doors in Central America, Miami and elsewhere.

Trust me: I was in the business for nearly three decades. I sent people running after a lot less than that. From where I sit now, I can practically hear the voices raised at once: “Find the cousin!”
