The RAB Radio Show – February 19, 2009 – Episode 15

By Joseph Pawlikowski

Mike’s not available this week, so I’m going it alone on the RAB Radio Show. Don’t worry, it’s an abbreviated edition, running under 15 minutes so you won’t have to listen to me rant for too long. A couple of readers sent in questions, so I figured I should go ahead and answer them. Then it’s onto my favorite subject: the bullpen. The Yanks are a couple of breaks away from having an absolutely dominant bullpen, and even as it stands they could be top five in the league.

Onto the podcast. It is available in a number of formats. You can download it here by right clicking on that link and selecting Save As. Mike Pop says:

Yankees top 10 according to Matthew Pouliot:

http://rotoworld.com/content/f.....2&pg=3

I think it’s safe to say alot of us will disagree with this list.

Joseph P. says:

I try to think of prospect lists as “who would you rather have?” For instance, it’s legitimate that someone might rather have Jesus Montero than Austin Jackson. That’s fine and good. But this guy would rather have Phil Coke than Andrew Brackman? Completely discredits the entire list, IMO.

Mike Pop says:

Ya that is what I was getting at. Jairo, Aceves, and Coke over Brackman? Come on now.

Joe R says:

Joe are you the real life Michael Scofield? You sound like him too.

Joseph P. says:

I have never seen Prison Break.

I’ve noticed the lack of Prison Break posts around here. Don’t you know you can’t have a Yankees blog without posts about your love of Prison Break? I mean, we’re talking about Prison Break, man. What are we talking about? Prison Break? We’re talking about Prison Break, man. Prison Break. It’s strange for me, too.

jsbrendog says:

not a prison break fan

Matt says:

I watched it a few times and it was better than I thought it would be, but it didn’t hold my attention for more than a few episodes.

Reggie C. says:

Then you missed the excellent first and second seasons. If you got the time , find’em and watch’em.

Manimal says:

So do you think passing on Juan Cruz is justified since we have such a large group of High profile bullpen arms?

Joseph P. says:

I think it’s justified to pass on him, but it still wouldn’t be a bad move at this point to get him on a one-year deal.

Tom Zig says:

So if our bullpen, starting pitching, and offense are all good…whats the weakest part of our team? The bench or the defense?

Mike Pop says:

Pick up Marte. That would solidify the bench problem……..

Tom Zig says:

Matt says:

The bench, definitely. The defense could actually be decent this season, especially the OF. A trio of Damon/Gardner/Swisher across would be one of the top defensive OFs in all of baseball. The infield is a little different but aside from Jeter, everyone else is capable of playing at least average at their positions. Rodriguez is going to be average or slightly below, Cano could be out of his mind defensively if he works at it, and Tex is solid, too.

Tom Zig says:

I know the gold gloves are a stupid award, but how cool would it be if Tex wins the Gold Glove over Youkilis?

Matt says:

I’d like it a lot.

Matt '09 says:

Bernie Williams is going to workout with the Yanks to help him get ready for the WBC…

Joey H says:

Like Mike Francesa? This was the cure for INSOMNIA! lol. kidding kidding.

Peter Lacock says:

Way to suck it up and fly solo Joseph. Nice job.
I think I’d rather have the 4th round pick than Cruz. If worse comes to worst we can always move Joba, Phil and IPK to the pen.
