Will The Rings ease the media on A-Rod?

By

I was away from the Internet for most of yesterday, and when I returned it turns out that A-Rod still did steroids. Damn. I was kind of hoping that my hiatus would undo all that. What I did find upon returning, though, is that a number of Yankees, including Jorge Posada, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and Andy Pettitte — a/k/a The Rings — want to join A-Rod as he faces the media when he reports to camp. It sounds like a plan. If the Yankees want to keep the situation under control, having the most admired players on the team standing up for Alex is the way to go. Will it work? You never know with the New York media. I think it’s a quality game plan, though.

What would be even cooler…is the entire team taking the stage and sitting behind him in solidarity.

He needs them. They need him

Will it work with the NY media? Doubt it. But it’s better than nothing. It will be good to see “The Rings” showing their support for Alex. He needs all the support he can get.

Maybe they should also bring in the cast of The Lord of the Rings? Gollum could proclaim Alex as his ‘precious’ and then bite one of the media members on the hand? :o)

Hopefully Alex Rodriguez doesn’t play good in the playoffs. That will taint the Yankees championship. He blows.

That’s a silly thing to say considering he’ll still be on the team regardless of how he plays.

Shouldn’t hurt having the other guys around him

Get O’Neil in the dugout too….

  6. MoReifer says:

I do not see how it could hurt Rod with the Rings watching him. Ultimately it will be Rod’s future demeanor that will determine the media’s handling. I am very curious to see if Rod’s public demeanor changes now. Will he finally just be himself, warts and all, or will he continue to come across as “A-Fraud”.

    I am hoping for warts.?!

  7. casey says:

    Alex is just socially awkward.

Some guys mastered the art of conversation growing up but couldn’t make the throw from third, he mastered throwing a baseball instead of being a quick talker.

If he was a politician, it might be a problem but he’s a baseball player so it’s all good.
