A-Rod keeping a low profile

Joba, Yanks roll to ninth straight win

Times reporter Jonathan Abrams trekked off to Vail to check up on Alex Rodriguez and found that the Yankee slugger is keeping a low profile. A-Rod‘s doctor reiterated what Will Carroll reported yesterday — that A-Rod is ahead of schedule with his rehab. Meanwhile, in Vail, a city used to celebrities, A-Rod isn’t making a scene, and that, apparently, is news.

    Clearly a shot at Jeter.

Can hardly wait until the Yankees are Jeter less. The sooner he’s gone the better.

Was that a shot at Jeter?

No, it was a cannon blast.

First good news about A-Rod i have heard after last season

  • Artist formerly known as ‘The’ Steve

“Actually, he’s ahead of schedule,” Philippon said Wednesday. “He’s a very disciplined athlete, very easy to work with. So far, we don’t have any curveballs. Which is good, since we all know how Alex handles in the big spots.”

    Now was THAT necessary?

    HIP! HIP!

    SURGERY!

I’m going to go up to Vail in November when Alex returns and find him to get autographs.

On the contrary A-Rod has apparently been sleeping with everyone in Vail: http://www.thehollywoodgossip......rodriguez/

I saw pictures of him trying to seduce the hottest piece of tail in Vail.

      that’s just media driven gossip

The lengths he’ll go to in order to prove Selena Roberts wrong.

I guess no one has heard the latest news about Arod and Spitzers ‘girlfriends’.He must be investigated. The Wall Street thieves employed the mob to ensnare Spitzer in his ‘romantic’ escapades and end his reign as Gov.due to his constant and thorough ‘sheriffing’ of the misdeeds on the ‘Street’. Everyone but the most pure knows who runs the prostitution racket, and that they can protect or expose whomever they want, protect is another word for shakedown,or blackmail. If Arod is involved with this business, then he must be investigated.Think his meltdowns were a little benficial to the gambling communities?Maybe he is guilty of nothing other than immaturity, but it warrants all the red flags it should raise.

lol…hes proberly spending much of his time looking at himself in the mirror….madonna loves me…shes loves me not!

I hate people talking down on Jeter. Yes he is aging an his range decreased… but he IS on the top list of best defensive players. Steve Lombardi from waswatching.com made a great point about this.

Even granting the point, the time has arrived to plan for his replacement in the not too distant future. It’s fine that he makes routine plays. They need a SS who does more than that, especially with A-Rod’s range likely decreasing with age. They need a SS who can compensate for that deficiency. That’s not talking him down, it’s reality.

    • http://actyankee.blogspot.com Matt

That’s still a very misleading piece of evidence. Jeter may make the plays on the balls that he gets to, but there are a ton of routine balls to his left and right that he doesn’t get to. From what Lombardi posted, it doesn’t look like Defensive Misplays take range into account, which is where all of Jeter’s trouble comes from. I think it’s readily accepted that Jeter makes the plays on the balls he gets to, but the problem is that there are many more balls he doesn’t get to.

      • Manny

Ok. Maybe i’m just in denial. It’ll feel a bit weird if he has to move to left field? But I’m sure he’ll end up doing what’s best for the team.

  • Rich

There may be another benefit to Jeter playing LF. Perhaps he stays stronger physically (no more past a diving Jeter) and it helps boost his offense, especially his SLG.

    • KW

Good point, unless freakish genetics are at play, players usually have to sacrifice bulk for agility at the more premium defensive positions (CF, 2b, ss, perhaps C). Having Jeter move to the OF can potentially allow him to reduce wear and tear and perhaps bulk up a bit.

Of course, there’s 0 chance of him moving into the OF.

If Jeter moves to the outfield, where do we put Crawford and Holiday?
