Cody Ransom’s brush with death

By Mike Axisa

When you read stories like this, it makes you realize that there are worse things in life than losing your Hall of Fame third baseman to a hip injury.

Please forgive me for being very off topic, but my friend is down at the game and texted me saying Hughes is hitting 96 on the radar gun! Probably a bit juiced but impressive none the less.

Whozat says:

Man, I chose poorly. I’m going to the game tomorrow, and I’ll probably see pettitte, aceves and assorted guys-who-won’t-make-the-pen. Ah well.

I can’t even imagine going through something like that. I saw yesterday a small accident at an intersection I was walking past and it made my heart race, I can’t fathom that sh*t.

Mike Pop says:

That’s wild, ya I’m with ya pat. I hate seeing ish like this but my new name for Ransom.

Ironman.

That is some crazy stuff. You know, that is why I never begrudge players from taking the money no matter what- you never know what is going to happen, and it makes sense to get as much as possible while you are equipped to do so.

Well I’ll be cheering for Cody from now on. If he is ARod’s replacement for a month or so hopefully he can hold his own.

SF Yanks says:

Damn, Hughes is putting a lot of men on base via HBP and BB. Hopefully there’s nothing to it.

Drew says:

Yikes, good find Mike A.

You know, too, Colin Curtis is a cancer survivor?

Everyone’s got their own story. Most of the time we don’t have enough curiosity to ask.

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Do you know how many Storm Troopers in the Imperial Army had feel good stories? Lots! But people only care about the plucky, scrappy Rebels and their tales of courage.

That’s a shot at Jeter.

Of course it’s a shot at Jeter. I mean, most of the Yankees are stormtroopers; he’s Palatine’s body guard. You’d never know cos he’s all cloaked in red and whatnot, but trust me, he is under the cape!

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

A little known fact…Darth Vader was a prostate cancer survivor.

Well played.
