You crucify him because he doesn't cater to the lowest common denominator. His kind is a dying breed - a broadcaster that actually makes YOU smarter for watching/listening. Why hire the guy who's educated, well-read, and culturally-literate... makes no sense. The analogy here is when you guys rip on Mike & the Mad Dog etc etc... and then I hear the RAB Podcasts... hmmm... yea... if it's so easy... Costas is the best. You crucify him because he doesn’t cater to the lowest common denominator.

I don't find him particularly objectionable, but he's probably my least favorite color guy, and I think that says a lot about how good most of them are, not how bad he is. I'd rank them: 1. Singleton 2. Cone 3. Leiter 4. O'Neill 5. Al Leiter has not lived up to what was expected and I don't see a great deal of potential there. I would have replaced him with Kaat.
