[...] Jim Kaat wanted to return to the YES Network booth, but he was rejected. I really enjoyed listening to Jim Kaat in the booth. It’s a shame that the YES Network turned him down though. Even though he didn’t get the job with YES, he will be joining the team of Bob Costas & Harold Reynolds for the first game in the new Yankee Stadium. [...]

Costas is the best. You crucify him because he doesn't cater to the lowest common denominator.

His kind is a dying breed - a broadcaster that actually makes YOU smarter for watching/listening.

Why hire the guy who's educated, well-read, and culturally-literate... makes no sense.

The analogy here is when you guys rip on Mike & the Mad Dog etc etc... and then I hear the RAB Podcasts... hmmm... yea... if it's so easy...

I think Flaherty has a good deal of technical skill—that is, he's obviously a very intelligent guy and an excellent speaker, but he's so straightlaced and boring. I don't find him particularly objectionable, but he's probably my least favorite color guy, and I think that says a lot about how good most of them are, not how bad he is. I'd rank them:

1. Singleton
2. Cone
3. Leiter
4. O'Neill
5. Flaherty

I'm not asking them to get into detail. I just don't want him to make stuff up.

Both Singleton and Leiter are great, and O'Neill is good by just being himself. If Cone is going to stick around, he should try to emulate them.

I'm surprised at the negative comments about Flaherty, he shows good potential. Al Leiter has not lived up to what was expected and I don't see a great deal of potential there. I would have replaced him with Kaat.

Costas is beyond terrible, thank God he was never added to the Yankee crew (he wanted a spot when YES was ramping up).

Let's face it, the Yanks have issues both on the TV side and the radio side (radio is a lost cause in my opinion) and leave it at that.
