Mo feels strong after throwing BP session

By

Mariano Rivera took the mound and threw live batting practice today, another step forward as he rehabs from offseason shoulder surgery. Mo was originally scheduled to throw thirty pitches, but he felt so good that he threw an extra ten pitches. In case you’re  wondering, the last time Mo threw forty pitches in a regular season game was August 4th, 2004, when he threw 51 pitches in two innings against Oakland. The Sandman is scheduled to make his official preseason debut against the Pirates this coming Tuesday.

We were nine games ahead in the division on that date; fucking Torre.

Well, Mo wasn’t used again til the 11th so I guess Torre made up for it w/plenty of rest?

I’d say the oppposite, Jamal. Fucking Torre because he was willing to use Mo for 51 pitches on Aug. 4 with a nine-game lead, but he wasn’t willing to forego having Tom Gordon pitch the 8th in Fenway a few months later. Brilliant managing.
