Chip says:

2 and a half more innings and two more solo homeruns you mean

Homers are overrated.

southernyankeefan says:

i just spewed clue goo everywhere.

Chris K says:

Mike Pop says:

GO TEX, YOU THE MAN, BABY! UUUUGGGGGGe.

Fun fact of the game so far (sort of):

The 1st time through the batting order is the only time the Tex-Swish-Posada-Cano heart of the order failed to produce at least one run.

That is fun. And a fact!

Sweet Dick Willie says:

Didn’t we own Chulk when he was with Toronto?

BigBlueAL says:

I’ll take it!!! Nice running his ass off by Damon.

Axl says:

I’m not purposely trying to be negative…but I mean cmon here guys. Look at this display. How can you be optimistic with this nonsense being so consistent???

Doug says:

ELEVENTH GAME OF THE SEASON, SECOND HOME GAME.

THE SKY IS FALLING!

Mike Pop says:

Cause that’s baseball. Shit happens. When we go on a 10-0 run and we make mistakes in those games, you won’t remember them because we won 10 straight.

Because, good or bad, we always try to do the following two things after something happens:

A) Stop.
B) Think.

Eric says:

I’m not purposely trying to be negative, I just fell asleep on my keyboard and 40 ultra negative comments were posted. It was an accident.

Mike Pop says:

“Eh, we’ll blow it in the 9th.”

BigBlueAL says:

OMG Swisher what are you thinking!!!!

Why the hell is Swisher squaring to bunt?

southernyankeefan says:

he was gonna bunt it out of the park. It is Nick Swisher.

Chris K says:

Why in God’s name would Swisher think about bunting.

Chip says:

Everyone would have sainted him had he bunted for a single there

BigBlueAL says:

Maybe he shouldve bunted….

dkidd says:

redemption time for jorge

Chris K says:

Skinny-Bruney in the 8th?

Mike Pop says:

Can Joba come back in the game? Cause all his control problems would be solved if it was indeed the 8th inning.

Brazilian Yankee says:

That wasn’t close, bs strikeout.

Axl says:

Why is it a crime because I have a different reaction that you when the team I like plays bad? While what I’ve said might not be what you want to hear…it hasn’t technically been incorrect by any means

Yes.

You wildly overreacting to every little thing is technically incorrect.

No, nothing that has happened so far means this team is bad or doomed like you portray.

Chip says:

It hasn’t technically been logical by any means either. Some people like to think before they type

Some people like to think before they type

Exactly.

Think before you type, Axl. Show some freaking perspective.

Yes, when I see Jorge fly out with the bases loaded it saddens and frustrates me too. No, it is not the end of the freaking world. Yes, Jorge will be up in that situation again sometime and he’ll probably perform well. He’s a good hitter. Good hitters still fail more often than they succeed.

dkidd says:

jorge hit a ball 390 feet. that doesn’t mean he “plays bad”

Sweet Dick Willie says:

Because that we understand that even a great team, one that wins 100 games in a season, will lose 62, and that in some of those 62 losses, they will look look like a shitty team, which they really aren’t, but you can’t seem to see the big picture. You judge a team on an at-bat by at-bat basis, which is crazy.

Brazilian Yankee says:

Martinez is about to let one go to the backstop. 2 lucky blocks in a row now.

Chip says:

That’d be convenient

VO says:

Axl says:

Whatever happened to the Indians’ terrible bullpen? It always bothered me when managers and players gave credits to the other teams pitcher who you knew wasn’t great…you knew it was just the players couldn’t hit. What do you think the odds are that Cliff Lee goes back out his next outing and gets beat up again?

Chip says:

They used up most of their pen last night so we’re seeing the 5th and 6th guys they have back there hiding in the corners

Sweet Dick Willie says:

Whatever happened to the Indians’ terrible bullpen?

They’ve given up 2 runs in 2 innings. If the Yanks bullpen had done that today, you’d have been bitching and moaning – oh, wait, you are bitching and moaning, just not about the Yanks pen.

BigBlueAL says:

WOW 2nd game in the Stadium and “only” 45,000????

Axl says:

On a beautiful Friday afternoon too…

And they could also technically have the bragging rights to say they were at the “First Yankee Win at the new Stadium”…

Very odd…

i doubt alot of people are gonna take a day off from work on a friday in april to go to a game these days.

BigBlueAL says:

Oh God its up to Melky now.

Mike Pop says:

Come on Melk…one more time.

BigBlueAL says:

Man its 5-5 in the bottom of the 7th inning with runners on base and you could hear crickets in the stadium.

desus says:

sounds like a tennis match.

Johnny says:

are the yanks a bad team at getting in a runner from second with no outs? or do i just expect it to happen more often than the statistics say?

or do i just expect it to happen more often than the statistics say?

That one.

Mike Pop says:

I was listening on the radio in my car when Melky hit the HR. How man pitches did he take in that AB?

Chris K says:

What’s capacity for the Stadium?

Axl says:

a little over 52,000

Chip says:

Melky just took a high fastball on an 0-2 count. I’m speechless

Chip says:

And he works it to 3-2, I’m shocked. I almost hope he doesn’t walk with Ransom behind him

Yankee1010 says:

There’s a better chance of Jesus Christ hitting in that spot than Ransom.

VO says:

Another freaking block

BigBlueAL says:

Shit since when did Victor Martinez become Johnny Bench blocking pitches????

Axl says:

Since he realized he was playing the Yankees…everybody plays their hearts out against them like it’s Game 7 of the World Series…you see these guys play against other teams and they just don’t care as much…

HOLY SHIT did Melky just take two pitches for balls and work a 1-2 count to a 3-2 count?

Even if he doesn’t get us an needed hit here, I’m impressed with that alone.

Baby steps, Hacky McHeadfirstslide, baby steps…

Chip says:

Even better, it started as an 0-2 count. I had to double check it was him batting

VO says:

Great now Melky ends a possible big inning, and we have Ransom leading off the next

Yankee1010 says:

There is no way Ransom will actually lead off next inning.

Chip says:

Miranda is getting a shot if they don’t put a lefty in

VO says:

Oh yea totally slipped my mind about Miranda

Mike says:

yeah damn that melky, total rally killer. why couldn’t he be more like his teammates and get a big hit

Mike says:

i don’t even need to say anything….

BigBlueAL says:

What are they today now with RISP???? I know yesterday they left 15 men on base, whats the tally so far today????

Yankee1010 says:

An impressive 0-9 with RISP and 8 LOB. Impressive stuff.

Chip says:

Yet they’ve still scored 5 runs, not too shabby

Chip says:

OMG!! World comes to end on Melky pop-out

Chris P. says:

One can only hope that Matsui can handle walking to the plate without his knees exploding next inning…

What I wouldn’t give for a healthy Xavier Nady right now…

I’d have to think they’d PH Miranda over Matsui to lead off, though, no?

Yankee1010 says:

Yeah, but they’ll probably go to Perez for the lefty-llefty, right? It’s pick your poison there.

Mike Pop says:

He just breaks into two.

Axl says:

I mean I love the positive posts after each time the Yankees do something ridiculous…but I mean can we also open our eyes here people? There’s something big going on here…I don’t even think it’s statistically possible to leave this many men on base…not only in one game…but TWO games. “The world is going to end” is funny and we all get it…but look at the bigger picture here. There’s nothing really to be happy about right now.

TC says:

Two games =/= bigger picture

The irony in this post is freaking amazing.

Your problem, Axl, is YOU’RE NOT LOOKING AT THE BIGGER PICTURE.

Chris P. says:

In the words of R. Kelly in trapped in the closet:

Calm the F*** down!

Eric says:

2 games = Big Picture. Why aren’t you guys getting this?

Mike Pop says:

A.J. is pitching tomorrow. That is something, that is something that will just always make me happy.

How could Bruney not K that guy there? Come on Bruney, if a man is on third that gets the run in.

BigBlueAL says:

Actually AJ is pitching Sunday, Wang goes tomorrow.

Mike Pop says:

Sweet Dick Willie says:

I thought Wang was going tomorrow.

Mike says:

No AJ/Pavano is Sunday. Teh Wang is tomorrow against Carmona…two wild cards.

Eric says:

So would it ruin your afternoon if I told you Wang was pitching tomorrow?

Mike Pop says:

This is why I love RAB. You make a mistake, and you get corrected.

BigBlueAL says:

Man I know I can be a bit of a prick at times, and I actually enjoy reading some of the negative stuff cause it is funny at times, but you really do over do it.

Axl says:

Yeah, look at the avg with RISP last season and then look at what it was in 2007. We scored nearly 200 less runs. I would say that last year INTO this year is a BIG PICTURE…no??

Even in the games we’ve won we haven’t been hitting that well (with the exception of Jeter in the end of the game) with RISP…we’ve still been leaving a shitload of men on base so far in every game…

Sweet Dick Willie says:

I don’t even think it’s statistically possible to leave this many men on base

Go back and get a refund on your statistics class. What’s that, you never took statistics? Well that certainly explains a lot.

There’s nothing really to be happy about right now.

Nope. Beautiful spring Friday afternoon, and the Yanks are tied in the 9th. Nope. Nothing to be happy about.

JT says:

Also, you just sound stupid, please stop. It is clearly statistically possible because it’s happening and none of us are enjoying it we are all just capable of taking a deep breath. Also, facetiously questioning in every post whether this “is even possible!!” and chiming in with your messages of gloom after every “display” gets freaking tiresome. Save us all the time it takes to scroll past your comments and stop posting.

bebop says:

1-20 with RISP since yesterday

Johnny says:

i analyzed some stats… this means the yanks will score 5 more runs in ‘09.

Brian Bruney, pimp.

dkidd says:

bruney = 3 pitch strikeout domination

Chip says:

That’s 6 in a row right?

Chip says:

And Ryan Garko ruins the fun by swinging at the first pitch. How DARE he put the ball in play

ZOMG Bruney didn’t K Garko? JOBBER to teh 8th!1!11!!

Yankee1010 says:

This guy Bruney should not be pitching the 8th inning. Joba should. Right?

- a good start by Joba is evidence Joba should be in the pen.
- a bad start by Joba is evidence Joba should be in the pen.
- a bad showing by the bullpen is evidence Joba should be in the pen.
- a good showing by the bullpen is evidence Joba should be in the pen.

Eric says:

Garko made contact. That hasn’t happened in a while.

Chip says:

Yeah, no Bruney has an excuse to throw his slider again

Steve B-BALL says:

does anyone think that Girardi will pinch hit for his boy in the bottom of the 8th?
No negativity …just the truth

Chip says:

He almost has to. If there’s a righty in, you have to think Miranda will get a shot

BigBlueAL says:

I hope so, thing is it would have to be Miranda who hopefully gets on and Pena pinch-runs for him. Actually pray for a solo HR.

Mike says:

no he’s been hitting the ball hard, just hasn’t gotten any breaks.

BigBlueAL says:

Joe Girardi is commenting at RAB!!

Mike Pop says:

I really do think Michael Kay reads RAB. No joke, it just seems like when something is said on here the night before the next game. He says the same exact thing.

You gotta give it 110%, just play your game and take it one day at a time.

Yankee1010 says:

The crowd will not let Ransom walk to the plate in the 8th, so even if Girardi doesn’t pinch-hit for him, he’ll probably be murdered anyway. So, either way, Ransom will not be leading off the 8th.

BigBlueAL says:

Chris K says:

Skinny-Bruney will chew you up and spit you out.

Get it?

dkidd says:
Chip says:

And that player just got sat down

Mike Pop says:

Bruney is just the fucking man.

Mike says:

Brian Bruney > Chuck Norris.

Chip says:

Brian Bruney = Nick Swisher

Yeah, that just happened

Mike says:

Brian Bruney >>>>>>>>>>> Joba Chamberlain

:: heads explode ::

kunaldo says:

18 k/9…sick

another inning, save mo for the 10th? bruney only threw 11 pitches…and he’s on fire…why not ride the hot hand

kunaldo says:

well then…forget i said anything

Oh, god the NYC talkradiosphere would have a fucking aneurysm if Girardi let Bruney pitch the 9th.

JeffG says:

He is no bridge to Mo…

Stairway to heaven!

BigBlueAL says:

Oh No!! If Yanks dont take the lead, that means Mo pitches the 9th in a tie-game which means for sure he will give up a run and lose the game since he cant pitch when the game is tied only when its a Save situation.

JeffG says:
JeffG says:

shit I meant to comment on mine.

JohnnyC says:

Yeah, well Chuck just turned 69. Bruney’s got a few years on Walker, Texas Ranger.

southernyankeefan says:

why matsui and not miranda?

Chip says:

Matsui gets paid more and Matsui is good. Miranda is a guy who watches Yankee games on TV

Sweet Dick Willie says:

Matsui: 3,322 MLB PAs
Miranda: 14 MLB PAs

BigBlueAL says:

Hey Matsui can pinch-hit.

BigBlueAL says:
Chip says:

To be fair, that rediculously outside fastball was a strike just two pitches ago

Alright, Mr. Roboto, make something happen.

Ugh.

Hey, Axl, you want something you can legitimately and rationally be negative about?

Hideki Matsui. You are allowed to be negative and pessimistic about Hideki Matsui. He has actually shown real and tangible evidence that he may be a problem. It’s still way to early to be fatalistic, but at least there’s some real evidence there for you.

LiveFromNY says:

Mike Pop says:

His knees are shot.

dkidd says:

nick swisher and brian bruney will pilot a ship designed by delroy lindo into the core of matsui’s knees to get them spinning again

Will (the other one) says:

+5 for referencing Delroy Lindo. One of the single most underappreciated actors of our time.

gxpanos says:

By the way, I don’t think the crowd did the Guidry clap when Brune-Dog had two strikes on Choo.

Have we talked about this disturbing phenomenon? I mean, I know it’s the “wine and cheese” thing, and the stadium design, opening series, etc. etc., but the 2 Strike clap?! C’mon now!

BigBlueAL says:

Joel Sherman is all over it.

Mike says:

Steve B-BALL says:

i guess Girardi would rather have a one legged hitter

You know what I hate. Incompetent umpiring. This ump is all over the place, for both teams. Go look at the Gameday data, some of the strikes called have been laughable.

Johnny says:

agreed.

umpire fail

Chip says:

I agree, I wouldn’t want to be pitching in this game

Yankee1010 says:

Brett, how about a little Rudy Stein action here?

Mike says:

We’re just setting things up for a walk-off from Tex.

Tex-Swish-Posada-Cano still to bat in the either the 8th or the 9th = good times.

Axl says:

At this point Matsui’s interpreter pinch hitting would be just as effective…

BigBlueAL says:

BigBlueAL says:

Mike says:
Mike says:

southernyankeefan says:

hahaha another solo shot. has anyone ever said jeter is clutch.

Jeterian hr by the Captain

Stryker says:

Chip says:

That……….just……….happened

handtius says:

there’s that 6th solo hr.

BigBlueAL says:

Actually 5th. Indians gave the Yankees 1 run with that error.

handtius says:

oh..my bad…stepped away for a minute, just figured it they were all solo jobs.

dkidd says:

Double-J says:

DEREK JETER!!! (CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP)

Axl says:

El Capitan!!!

5 solo shots! Not bad!

Axl says:

That’s right…6

BigBlueAL says:

It sure does look like the New Yankee Stadium is the New Coors Field.

Yankee1010 says:

6 runs on 5 solo HRs and a runner scoring from 1st on a grounder to the pitcher. Awesome.

Jeter is one hell of a pimp.

mustang says:

Offensive Jeter 2 games
No range Jeter 0 games

THE CAPTAIN !!!!!

Chip says:

So….did they install a jet stream from home plate to right field?

BigBlueAL says:

Foreel. DeRosa and Jeter going opposite field like nothing.

Chip says:

It’s not like these are the Giambi fly-ball homeruns either. I mean it’s like they put a ball magnet out there

Sweet Dick Willie says:

Where’s Axl’s response to that?

Oh, I get it. Yankees, positive, does not compute.

The Yankees will most likely win this game despite not having Joba in the bullpen nor hitting with RISP.

That is all I have to say.

Sweet Dick Willie says:

Can’t happen. That’s a statistical impossibility (according to Axl – who, BTW, is probably Steve Lombardi).

WON’T SOMEBODY PLEASE LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE HERE!!!!!!1!!!!11!!!!!!!!eleventy!!!!!!!!!!

Axl says:

I love it!!!

But I mean I like being different…

EL CAPITAN!!!

By the way, I did respond several times already…

Jeter’s homerun only counts for .279 of a run, because it wasnt with RISP.

Also, in regard to the crowd noise, I went to two playoff games in the old stadium by day that were silent. Day games are quieter by nature- smaller crowds, more kids. It is just a different feel. Go listen to the replay of the Tex HR: the crowd was as loud as ever. People are comparing everything in the new stadium to the old one, and have romanticized everything in the old to make the new look bad. Lombardi has hundreds of words about how he is convinced that the Yankees are lying to him and his seat is narrower than it was.

kunaldo says:

lombardi has to be the most pessimistic person on the face of the planet…i stopped reading him when i realized i was just getting more depressed

Yankee1010 says:

Lombardi will find fault with every single thing that ever existed. Or that will exist.

Double-J says:

Just remember – these are the only HR’s that count, folks.

dkidd says:

this ump is horrible

Chip says:

Mo in for the save, game over

Make it interesting, bring in Veras :D

BigBlueAL says:

First it was the Gecko, then the Cavemen, and now some weird pile of money with eyes on top of it. What will be the next Geico genius advertising ploy????

Soquel_CA says:

Katie Morgan, fully nude.

It makes sense.

Chip says:

Axl explaining the statistical impossibility of overpaying for car insurance if you use Geico

BigBlueAL says:

If that ball was hit to RF, its 20 rows deep into the stands.

Chip says:

That’s why they call it death valley

Yeah, but the point is that you cant pull Rivera enough to hit that to RF. Even when someone lines one up, all they can do is hit it to the biggest part of the park.

BigBlueAL says:

I was just referring to the fact that the ball flies out of this stadium to RF. The best thing about Mo, among many, is how difficult it is to hit a HR off him.

dkidd says:

without the wind tunnel, no way gardner gets to that

southernyankeefan says:

WTF the ump has called that a strike all day.

Mike says:

This ump is a fuckin joke.

BigBlueAL says:

Mo gonna have to earn this save now.

JOBA TO TEH 9TH AND MO TO TEH 8TH!!!!!!!11!!!

dkidd says:
Chip says:

He just wanted to make it interesting

mustang says:

Use to run high school track meet at the track where the New Stadium is now. And coming around the turn running away from the old stadium the wind could almost push you for down track. Balls are going to fly out there in the summer.

Johnny says:

derosa loves to bitch, huh?

Will (the other one) says:

MLB.com Gameday’s wisdom on Mo:

“Out pitch: Cutter.”
“Steady velocity on cutter.”

I’m floored.

Dynamite drop in, Monty! Those broadcast school classes are really paying off!!!

BigBlueAL says:

southernyankeefan says:

Where was that?????

Wow, even Mo was pissed at that one. He never does anything like that.

Chip says:

Hot damn, that’s closer than the other called strike

Will (the other one) says:

You know it’s bad when Cleveland’s announcers are sputtering at the inconsistency on what should have been the end of their day.

Yankee1010 says:

Wow, Cuzzi is having an awful day behind the plate. There is just zero consistency from pitch to pitch.

BigBlueAL says:

Makeup call but I love it!!!!

handtius says:

it was a stike on gameday. right up in the corner.

southernyankeefan says:

Chip says:

VO says:

Mike says:

Hope to God we don’t see that ump ever again behind home.

BigBlueAL says:

There goes Kim Jones eye-fucking Jeter again.

Our Panamanian, who art in the bullpen,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On the road as it is at home.
Give us this day our daily broken bat.
And forgive us our errors,
As we forgive those who error against us.
And lead us not into extra innings,
But deliver us from blown saves.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

mustang says:

LMAO…. can I use this?

Stryker says:

dkidd says:

worst home plate umpire EVER

MO!!!!!!!

mustang says:

The old dogs are barking.
BABY !!!!!!

BigBlueAL says:

Soquel_CA says:

Girardi is a genius.. The bullpen is great.. Yanks 157-5 on the season!!!!!!2!!2!!!

Jake H says:

Good comeback win there today.

Quikksand says:

A.D. says:

Was at the game, new stadium was beautiful, and everyone was rocking and pumped with that game
