  1. Jamie says:

    Russ Springer just fisted me.

  2. A.D. says:

    bah what a waste

  3. Angry Again Axl says:

    This is hilarious

  4. Mike Axisa says:

Couldn’t even GIDP to get a friggin’ run in. Bah.

  5. Okay, that just fucking hurt.

  6. Alex S says:

    joke, its all a joke

  7. Tom Zig says:

How in the world did Melky strike out on an eye level pitch?

  8. Angry Again Axl says:

2 on with nobody out…nobody scores. LOL. Pretty good guys…at this rate we’re going to have 15+ hits and lose the game haha

  9. Joe R says:

    Mass hysteria ensues. Aaaaahhhhhh

  10. Klemy says:

Maybe I’m alone on this, but the past couple years they’ve conditioned me to never think a run is impending when they load the bases with nobody out. It’s sad.

  11. Drew says:

Where’s Barry when you need “em?

  12. Bryan says:

I would have pinch hit for melky… my 2 cents

  13. BigBlueAL says:

So who does Pena go in for?? Gardner or Melky????

  14. BJ says:

At least its Damon Tex Posada next inning.

  15. Alex S says:

can we alctually blame jeter there?

    • Frank says:

No. It’s clearly on CC. It was a flat out shitty performance against an offensively challenged team, not to mention he got 7 runs from the offense.

      • Joey H says:

He pitched badly but lets take into account its only his what 4th start of the year? And there wasn’t exactly ideal pitching conditions out there tonight.

  16. Matt-Pitt says:

Cano will either hit the game winner in the 8th or a walk off in the 9th…

    Hold em’ down Alby.

  17. Brazilian Yankee says:

I just hope we don’t end up finding a way of losing this.

  18. Matt says:

    Do it up, Albie.

  19. Angry Again Axl says:

The Yankee Killer Kurt “Russell” Susuki is up right now though…uh oh

  20. Bo says:

If I never see Ransom hit again I’ll be real happy.

  21. A.D. says:

    Yankee Killer at it again.

  22. gxpanos says:

Anybody? CC pitching in the 7th with an off-day tomorrow?

  23. Bo says:

    Why isn’t Bruney in here?

  24. Yankee1010 says:

What must Ransom to not be the 3B now? He’s been awful at the plate, atrocious in the field and BRETT GARDNER is pinch-hitting for him. What, they didn’t have Tony Womack, Miguel Cairo or Alvaro Espinoza available to pinch-hit for him? Could someone stab him with a trident the next time he is on the field? It’s obvious that they’re going to keep running him out there until they have no choice.

  25. Mike Axisa says:

On the bright side, Albie’s moving up in the pecking order, as he should.

  26. Anyone else gonna get real nervous if Marte is brought in?

  27. jsbrendog says:

why have there been 3 or 4 “infield single” to shortstops?

  28. Joey H says:

That was a terrible at bat by Melky in the 7th. It was a classic Melky at bat. Trying to be the hero getting to aggressive and getting in a hole early in the count.

    • Drew says:

I know he didn’t get it done. He tried to hit a fly ball, Brett fouled off two pitches right down the middle. Why not be pissed say it about him?

      • Joey H says:

Because Melky is more able in my opinion. Let’s not split hairs here. Melky looked entirely stupid. Gardy just looked over matched.

  29. Angry Again Axl says:

I’ll be real mad if they score with a runner on 2nd with 1 out while we had bases loaded and no outs and couldn’t do anything…

  30. Mike Pop says:

We can all hate on Ransom – rightfully so. But he should have hit there(obviouslt looking at it now it looks like a better move) but he hit that rally starting double earlier, so I think he should of stayed in. Springer doesn’t throw anything crazy good. I just feel like Ransom could of at least put a drive on the balll for a sacrifice.

    • Joe R says:

Yeah. Only thing Ransom CAN hit is a fastball. But he hasnt been performing with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs lately. Or at anything else for that matter…

    • Chris says:

I assume the move to Gardner was to prevent a GIDP.

    • Drew says:

All Springer was throwing was the heat too..

    • Dave says:

Yea but now we get good defense with pena coming in too.

    • matt b says:

I think the rationale had to be that Girardi was looking to stay out of a DP on a ball in the infield–with two outs, Ransom would’ve (I think) and should’ve (scary as that sounds) hit.

Tough AB for Melky–hard to read too much into one AB, but man, that kinda shattered the bubble of his otherwise awfully impressive start.

  31. dkidd says:

    johnny alphabet!!!

we play today, we win today

  32. Drew says:

    Alright Albie!!

  33. Christopher says:

    Nice work from Alby.

  34. Joey H says:

If for any reason they send this kid down they are fucking retarded.

  35. BigBlueAL says:

I fuckin love me some Albie!!!!

  36. Mike Axisa says:

Bush league fist pump by Albie. Act like you’ve been there before!1!1!!

  37. Matt-Pitt says:

Way to work and get outta it, Alby.

Lets put some on the board, hand the ball to Mo and call it a day.

  38. Klemy says:

    OMG TY

  39. KW says:

hahah i’ll always laugh when i think of crosby and gammons’ prediction

  40. Slugger27 says:

man that albie has a little ramiro mendoza to him… that sinking/tailing heater in the low/mid 90s

    I LIKE IT!!!!

  41. Matt says:

    Way to go, Albie!

  42. Joey H says:

Albie Rivera or Mo Albaladejo? I’m telling you he’s legit.

  43. A.D. says:

big bats need to end this

  44. Joey H says:

I wonder how long it takes for David Robertson to get another chance. He did work an impressive two innings if my mind serves me right.

    • Mike Pop says:

When Veras is involved in the deal for Mike Cameron. He will be called up and nevaaa called back!!

    • Alex from The Bronx says:

Dave pitched on Wednesday and got sent back down. I think he needs to be in the minors for 10 days to be recalled back to the Yanks, probably Sunday if the Yanks decide to recall him. He could come back sooner unless someone on the Yanks have to go to the DL.

  45. Sal says:

    Maybe alby can be trusted

  46. Angry Again Axl says:

Oh no. Bailey is in. We’re shut down for a few innings..

  47. Matt-Pitt says:

    Leadoff walk…

    Lets get him around.

  48. jsbrendog says:

bailey! repping wagner college. now give up another hr…then be good against other teams

  49. Mike Axisa says:

Please, no bunting, no stealing, no nothing. You’ve got three chances to get Damon in from first, and three guys capable of driving him in in with an XBH.

  50. dkidd says:

how long before homer bailey is used to support the “joba to the 8th” argument?

    • jsbrendog says:

he was a terrible starter. like 1-15 or something or 1-5…then he went to the bullpen and was somehow all of a sudden amazing. kay and singleton lastnight were like, come on how does that happen hint hint and leiters like NO! ITS TOPTALLY THE CUTTER! IT MAKES YOU GOOD!

    • KW says:

      andrew?

    • Alex from The Bronx says:

isn’t Homer Bailey with the Reds? This is Andrew Bailey.

  51. Joey H says:

    CHOKEEEEEEEE!!111!!!

  52. Angry Again Axl says:

What ever happened with that Red Sox game? Was it a massacre? I hadn’t checked since it was 6-0 in like the 3rd inning

  53. Joey H says:

Jorgey will indeed juice one.. Ohh yesss

  54. Would love to see Jorge jack one here. Am prepared for that not to happen.

  55. Joey H says:

And did I mention how much I love all these switch hitters in the lineup. It’s down right lovely.

    • Dave says:

Is there anything to the thought that flipping a batter around in the late innings, when he hasnt taken any cuts from that side all day, puts the hitter at a disadvantage?

  56. Angry Again Axl says:

Well we successfully acheived the “bases loaded with no outs and nobody scores” bonus…now let’s do the “lead off walk and nothing else happens” thing…that should be good

  57. Matt-Pitt says:

“Cano will either hit the game winner in the 8th or a walk off in the 9th… ” <— Called this 20 minutes ago…

    LETS DO IT ROBBY

  58. Brazilian Yankee says:

That Suzuki fella looks pretty good behind the plate.

  59. Mike Pop says:

    Axl 3, 2, 1…

  60. Alex from The Bronx says:

is it Mo or Bruney time?

  61. Klemy says:

Well then. That leaves it up to Swish in the 9th!

  62. dkidd says:

izod and indy racing are such a natural fit. it’s amazing no one thought of it sooner

  63. Mike Axisa says:

How can you know who the Player of the Game is when it’s not over?

    • LiveFromNewYork says:

I thought that the other day. It was a 5-4 game and they were announcing Player of the Game in the 8th

  64. jsbrendog says:

    urge to break stuff rising…..

  65. Evan S says:

Mariano is never good in a tie game. I’m not expecting to get the W today. Bad game all around.

  66. Mo has to get through the ninth in a tie game first…

Am i the only one biting my nails? Blasphemy, I know.

  67. Drew says:

I always end up hating CB buckner by the end of each game.

  68. Mike Pop says:

    Pena walk off.

  69. Joey H says:

I just love how Mo can throw it seemingly right down the middle of the plate leaving the hitters clueless for called strike 3.

  70. Joey H says:

    Giambi will JUICE one.

  71. Angry Again Axl says:

Don’t worry about Mo. He’ll be fine. Worry about the rest of the crappy bullpen afterwords when we don’t score next inning.

  72. dkidd says:

he HGH’ed the heck out of that

  73. BigBlueAL says:

Shit this matchup with Holliday scares me.

  74. Klemy says:

Prediction: Up an in on 0-2 then outside called strike 3?

  75. Dave says:

    Range city

  76. Matt-Pitt says:

    Nice play, Robby.

Here we go, lets get Mo the win.

  77. Alex from The Bronx says:

    Swisher might WIN this!!

  78. Angry Again Axl says:

Remember what I said. Mo will be fine (he was)…we will need to worry after we don’t score this inning and the game is in the hands of our crappy bullpen…

  79. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Nice play Robbie.

  80. BJ says:

Yeah, with the heart of the order that inning you gotta go with Mo, finally a Girardi decision I agree with

    • Klemy says:

      Hard to argue with that.

    • LiveFromNewYork says:

he’ll be thrilled to hear it

      • BJ says:

I just mean even if it hadn’t worked out you have to respect the fact that he goes with his best reliever in an important situation, even though a save was no longer possible. It was kind of a no brainer, but some think Mariano is a different pitcher when he is not in a save situation and might have gone with Bruney there.

  81. dkidd says:

let’s walk off and head to boston

  82. Eric says:

I would have pinch ran Gardener for Cano.

  83. BigBlueAL says:

WOW Ziegler vs a bunch of lefties in a row. Yankees have to score this inning now.

  84. Swisher ABs are amazing to watch, regardless of the result.

  85. Mike Pop says:

Swish AB’s are fun to watch.

  86. Klemy says:

    Please. Extend his contract now.

  87. Mike Axisa says:

It would be nice to have Gardner to pinch run right here.

  88. It is now up to Melky. Freakin’. Cabrera.

  89. dkidd says:

that’s just bad luck. he smoked that

  90. Dave says:

    Ouch.

  91. Mike Axisa says:

Melky has no shot against Ziegler with that delivery.

  92. Matt M. says:

    grr matsui

  93. Matt says:

Matsui grounds out to second on an outside pitch. Shocking.

  94. Klemy says:

    Overmatched?

  95. Mike Axisa says:

Here comes Damaso. I’m slightly nervous.

  96. Dave says:

    Sad face.

  97. Mike Pop says:

Melky needs to spend less time in music videos. More time watching tape.

Now this shitty bullpen will blow the lead because that is in fact what the Yankees are. Shit.

    Right, Axl?

  98. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Groundzilla is back!

  99. BigBlueAL says:

Marte in to start the 10th. Hold your breath.

  100. southernyankeefan says:

yeah melky has looked bad his past two at bats

  101. dkidd says:

    we’re winning this game

    bounce back outing for marte

  102. Alex from The Bronx says:

    (gasp)

  103. Dave says:

Nice use of the word Zaftig, Kay

  104. Brazilian Yankee says:

It must be a dream job for guys like Melky and Ransom, getting paid half a million or so to absolutely suck at what they do.

  105. Wow Marte, you kind of aren’t very good.

  106. Yankee1010 says:

That was a surprise. I didn’t think Marte would walk the leadoff man.

  107. southernyankeefan says:

    fuck marte get somebody out

  108. BigBlueAL says:

Yes keep Marte in to face all these RH’s after he walked a lefty.

  109. Klemy says:

It’s good to see that Marte is performing as expected.

  110. Matt-Pitt says:

Leadoff walk to a lefty… when your job is to get out lefties… awesome…

Bounce back man, c’mon. Need you to step up here, Marte.

  111. Alex from The Bronx says:

    Nooooooooooooo!!!!! Not Rajai Davis!!!

  112. Moshe Mandel says:

God, throw a strike. That is an unacceptable walk. On Gameday, not one pitch was in the zone there.

  113. Mike Pop says:

    Oh no. The Suzuki son.

  114. Bo says:

    marte is TERRIBLE

    why is he out there?

  115. Steve B-BALL says:

Marte is a piece of s**t

  116. Dave says:

Sigh. I’m sure we all saw that coming.

  117. JeffG says:

I can’t stand Marte so far… he is my new Farnsy.

  118. Klemy says:

On the positive side, if Marte keeps throwing to first, he can never walk Suzuki.

  119. Alex from The Bronx says:

Why isn’t Bruney in the game????????

    • Mike Pop says:

Because……the Yankees have faith in Marte. They are not going to just not use him because of some bad outings. He’s a 4 million dollar man, they expect him to be useful. Which I assume and hope he will be.

      • Alex from The Bronx says:

I sure hope so too. He just hasn’t been good during his Yankees tenure so far which concerns me when I see him pitch.

As I type, Suzuki just struck out and Bugs Bunny comes in to pitch.

  120. Dave says:

GIDP GIDP no Whammys! no Whammys!

  121. BigBlueAL says:

Im assuming Bruney is unavailable today for some reason.

  122. Frank says:

Just think, they have Marte for 2 more seasons after this.

    • Mike Pop says:

      Yes, that’s a good thing.

Marte>>>>>>>Mike Myers. Sean Henn, and whoever the fuck else have failed with the Yankees as lefty relievers.

  123. Yankee1010 says:

It’s a good thing they locked him up on a 3 year deal instead of just picking up the 1 year option or getting the 2 draft picks for him.

  124. Klemy says:

Aaaaaand with that throw to first, Marte has reached his pitch limit for this outing.

  125. Mike Axisa says:

All that and he still stole. Just worry about the guy at the plate, he’s the one that can hurt you.

  126. Joey H says:

Marte needed to bust him down when he had the chance 0-2 1-2. Now hes in danger of walking him AGAIN.

  127. Okay. That was kind of funny.

  128. BigBlueAL says:

So Suzuki rips CC but K’s vs Marte. Who wouldve thunk it.

  129. Mike Pop says:

Did Marte just strike someone out? Wow, he does suck.

  130. Mike Axisa says:

Heh, Marte made Kurt Klutch look funny on that one.

  131. southernyankeefan says:

    hahahaha wow that was funny.

  132. Drew says:

Uhh. What the hell was that? lol

  133. Matt-Pitt says:

I remember Marte’s first lefty last yr when we acquired. Coming out of the bullpen to face Ortiz… Struck him out swinging on 4-5 pitches, I think? Correct me if I’m wrong.

    Where did that Marte go?

Least he made the Oakland Yankee Killer look, STUPID.

    • Joey H says:

He’ll be back soon. Do not worry.

      • Mike Pop says:

Agreed. He is too good to struggle like he has. The hate really needs to chill out for a bit. Couple bad outings. Shit Farnsworth pitched 27 up and 27 down last year, now that, that was just unthinkable.

  134. KW says:

wow..that’s a big time fail there!

  135. Klemy says:

    Holy mother of…

  136. Dave says:

“and Joe Girardi is going to start to mix and match” Where have I heard that before?

  137. MLK says:

Girardi just reared his ugly head. I guess the tie is about to be broken.

  138. BigBlueAL says:

So now he brings in a RHP after Marte actually K’ed Suzuki???? I just dont understand this man. What was the point of letting Marte face Suzuki then??????????

  139. Brazilian Yankee says:

I think we have to congratulate Joe G. on another well-managed game. This one is on you Joe!

  140. Mike Axisa says:

Ugh, with the matchups. It’s Mark freaking Ellis. The difference in his LHP/RHP splits is 38 OPS points. Yeah, that was worth the pitching move.

  141. Alex from The Bronx says:

Well here comes Bugs Bunny to pitch.

  142. Klemy says:

Who knows, maybe David Robertson does see an inning today.

  143. Mike Pop says:

Whatever, Davis was scoring on any hit.

  144. Mike Axisa says:

Just walk Powell, pitch to Crosby.

Looks like the old unintentional intentional walk.

  145. Jamal G. says:

IBB to face Crosby? May not be popular, but I’d do it.

  146. Joey H says:

My god. I’m getting tired of Edwar walking everyone.

    • Klemy says:

Can anyone else hear Michael Kay yet with his, “The time of the game, an unmanageable…”

  147. A.D. says:

Just get out of this Edwar

  148. Ayayay Edwar. One more out. That’s it.

  149. Jamal G. says:

    Sadistic changeup.

  150. Mike Pop says:

    Duuuuuurrrrrrttttttyyyyy little change.

  151. Joey H says:

    Alright. Here we go boys!

  152. A.D. says:

    Annnd out of it

  153. Drew says:

    Alright EdRam!

  154. southernyankeefan says:

Pena walk off HR. book it done.

  155. dkidd says:

did edwar shave his eyebrows? he looks like bob geldof in “the wall”

  156. Jamal G. says:

Ah, good ol’ Bobby Crosby, you worthless prick. Give me Cliff Pennington or give me death!

    • Alex from The Bronx says:

Seriously, why were there rumors of Crosby coming to NY to play third. We all saw that he’s just flat out horrible.

  157. Sal says:

How does marte walk the leadoff guy?

  158. YankeeScribe says:

    15 hits, 3 HR’s and only 7 runs?

  159. John K. says:

    Jete wins this game.

  160. Alex from The Bronx says:

    Edwar, Thank you

  161. Joey H says:

I am getting tired of those quit smoking commercials. They are down right depressing and make those who do not smoke suffer.

  162. Drew says:

That was fucking gross. I hate these NY quitline commercials.

  163. Angry Again Axl says:

This is going to get ugly…

  164. Klemy says:

Good to see we are taking a look at some pitches after that long half an inning. lol

  165. Mike Pop says:

    Johnnny it’s on you!

  166. Angry Again Axl says:

Let’s get some of our good hitters out of the way without scoring…how does that sound??

  167. Joey H says:

Here is where Tex becomes a Yankee for real.

  168. Drew says:

Why not send Damon a couple of pitches ago?

  169. Man. That was kind of…not very good.
