Well Tex is hitting sub .200 now is he not? I know age and power numbers are all factors but you’ve got to go with your guns until you are sure you are out of bullets.
No, I know that absolutely. Thats why I said age and what they’ve done power-wise so far. But you’ve got to stick with your guns. I wonder how many more days he gets in the 3 hole before Tito pulls the plug.
Coincidence he has heart palpitations that give him a scare (common side effect of steroid usage) and then just after that he has his worst season on the Sox…and an absolute atrocious start to 09??
Teix ‘s OPS is still over 100 points higher despite hitting sub .200. Ortiz’s problem isn’t just average. he’s not hitting for any power or walk either.
He’s got the glove, and not a complete automatic out & at least makes the pitcher use up a few pitches, should be locked in as the starting 3B until A-Rod returns.
I think the wrist is more of a problem re: having your timing thrown off by being inactive at the start of the season. Being consistently pitched around is also an issue. ARod will fix that.
Joba needs to come out for the 8th. He’s being developed as a starter and finally has a chance to work a lot of innings at reasonable pitch counts. This is how you become a dominant starter.
Then again, I don’t trust Girardi to do anything intelligent, ever. We’ll see.
The only reason to take him that even remotely makes sense is to save some bullets for later, meaning it’s an inning he can pitch at a more crucial time later in the year.
I say send him back out there. He turned the corner in like, the 4th inning and I want him to build on that.
Anytime someone refers to it as “the show” I immediately think Bull Duhram.
Yeah, I was in the show. I was in the show for 21 days once – the 21 greatest days of my life. You know, you never handle your luggage in the show, somebody else carries your bags. It was great. You hit white balls for batting practice, the ballparks are like cathedrals, the hotels all have room service, and the women all have long legs and brains.
Why do you guys want him to pitch the 8th? An inning or two saved in April is an inning or two he has to pitch later on when we need him to go deep in a game. I’d rather his games be shortened in blowouts like this.
Agreed. Berroa is absolutely pointless at this point. I’d rather hav someone like Miranda up who can potentially come off the bench to pinch hit, Angel is just eating up space.
its not just the webgems… pena knows how to play defense… whens the last time you remember someone just trying to stop the ball with the body instead of the glove for the yankees? his range is just a plus… that a 22 year old plays with such veteran grit is seriously awesome
I thought there was a earthquake or something… we channel surfed and forgot about the game, then as we go back the camera was shakin and people were evacuating.
I assumed the federal bailout check just got cashed and everybody at the park was allowed to end their furlough and get back on the assembly line at the GM and Chrysler plants.
Kind of unrelated but I’ve been following this site since it started and is it just me or has there been a ridiculous jump in people following each game thread? Three spillover threads every night is pretty cool.
I found out about this site from my cousin. I used to go on ESPN boards for games, and it was just AWFUL. The stupidest people post the most idiotic stuff on there. I have since started to come here, because you guys really know your Yankees baseball (and baseball in general). It’s nice to not have to see dozens of people trolling with “Joba the Drunk” or “Joba that Fat” nonsense.
fuck. i go out to dinner w/ my special lady (not my lady friend), right at the beginning of the 4th and bang. there it goes. miss out on all the fun and all the wonders of a good Joba start.
He overmanaged one game this season. People like to complain about every little move, but he does a good job of spreading the workload among his relievers, riding his starter when he needs innings, and is willing to tinker with his lineup based on platoon advantage.
Everybody hates the Yankees…and everybody also happens to love the Red Sox for some reason. Which only increases the hatred for the Yankees when you love the Red Sox…
It goes without being said that Buster Olney starts his column tomorrow wondering when Lester goes to the pen right? Maybe it’s because 5.40 isn’t “mediocre” it’s just bad he won’t suggest it.
Lol, just to rip the manager. Albie looked awful, was getting smacked around. Nobody rushed anything, and every single manager in the history of baseball would have gone to Mo there, especially considering that he has not pitched in a while and needs the work.
Man I just got home in the top of the 9th, I almost cost us the game I guess!!! BTW, Mo was throwing balloons up there, I really hope its just cause he didnt warm up enough.
Sizemore with a routine fly out to right field and of course Don Orsillo is yelling at the top of his lungs as if it was the greatest thing he’s ever seen…but he always does that.
I’d hardly call that a routine fly ball, to be honest. That was more of a line drive. But, if Van Every isn’t playing deep, it’s a bases clearing double for Grady.
It really baffles me how supposed baseball experts apparently don’t realize that a pitcher can throw maximum effort when he is expected to get 3 batters. Any pitcher in the majors can go add 3-4 MPH on their fastball if they only need to throw 15 pitches.
And why did Sizemore not get time there? Bullshit. He asked in plenty of time and the ump even flinched. And the pitch was outside. Take him deep, Grady!
Even though he had a great start tonight, I still think joba will ultimately go back to the bullpen. He has not been consistent enough two be the ace you all think he will be. I think he is at his best when he can just go 1-2 innings and throw just his fastball at 100mph and his slider at 87mph with his max effort motion. The two reasons I feel this way are: 1. Because he looks like it cause his shoulder pain at times throwing that curveball and 2. because he has all the trait to be a great closer: the adrenaline rush coming from the pen, cockiness of just try to blow it by batters and strike all of them out and he is not afraid of failer. Plus some of the league’s best closers were starters in the minors like papelbon, k-rod, nathan and a man known as mariano rivera. Think about it, mo has said he is retiring in a year and half, don’t know if he will change his mind about that but he can’t go on forever. I think Melancon could be a good closer but i see him more as that scot shields type set-up guy who can pitch 2 innings with a low number of pitches thrown. Also if Hughes keeps pitching well, when Wang is ready pitch in the majors again you can’t send Hughes down it may destroy his confidence. You especially can’t send him down when you have unreliable relievers like Ramirez who I believe I said would be pitching bad because he is overrated. Also bruney is not the answer as future closer and he is a free agent this off-season and has said he wants to become a closer. With Mo locked up until the end of 2010 bruney won’t want to stay another year because with a big year this year someone will surely sign him to be their closer. Plus Hughes is a more complete starters than joba because he really mix his pitches and can get quicker outs. Part of the problem with joba is he tries to strike everyone out and can’t do that because it will waste his pitch count. The team is better off with him in the pen then you can some night were you have bruney or melancon in the 7th, joba in the 8th leading to mo in the 9th. You could also have a night were joba pitches both the 7th and 8th setting up mo. I also think with those four together you have the new millennium version of “the nasty boys”. If the yanks wan to win the world series why not have one of the best line-ups in the league, arguably the best rotation in the game and have the most dominate pen in baseball with mo, joba, bruney and Melancon along with marte, coke and long man like Aceves. if the yanks can do that, I think we would have to be considered the favorites to win it all.
You and me both, kid.
OMG Joba throws a three hitter, send him to the bullpen now
It’s just because he is getting “jerked off.” Duh.
I’m posting this again because it just cracks me up.
http://kissingsuzykolber.uprox.....rbate.html
Do you sit there googling stuff like that? Because you come across some crazy stuff..
Kissing Suzy Kolber is a great Jets blog. Came across that story last year and just remembered it.
I have a fairly good memory.
It’s not a Jets blog, it’s a general football/humor blog. It’s absolutely hysterical.
Some of the guys in the pen just need work at this point.
Joba is so good…he can walk a bunch of people and hit who he pleases…and still get out of jams…
I shall call him “El Joba” which is spanish for “The Joba”…
Amazing what a couple of hits has done to your mood & posts.
Que hablan español la forma ancianos mierda, lento y desordenado.
Harsh man.
heh, after I read that I had to go to freetranslations.com just to see what he said (ok, I got a few words by myself)
I’m like a walking Spanish tutorial. Gratis, por supuesto.
Él se lo merece. Usted se merece mucho más, mi cariño.
Wait a minute, this translator thingy didn’t work so well, I think.
Does that sound mean? It was supposed to be nice.
No entiendo bien la razón por la que escribió esto, pero bien haha.
I beleive you mean:
“… pero bien jaja.”
You’re hilarious dude. Don’t get all mad at me making a reply to you. It’s just that you’re hilarious.
David Ortiz is absolutely atrocious. Why Tito Francona has him in the third spot still is anyone’s guess, and fans of all other AL East team’s joy.
Well Tex is hitting sub .200 now is he not? I know age and power numbers are all factors but you’ve got to go with your guns until you are sure you are out of bullets.
Except Ortiz is fat and out and shape and has injuries to his knee, wrist, shoulder over the last 3 years
out of shape
WRONG.
Round is absolutely a shape…and he’s not even round, more, sort of, egg-shaped…
In a vacuum that’s a good point, but you and I both know that when looking at these two cases, it’s not the same situation.
No, I know that absolutely. Thats why I said age and what they’ve done power-wise so far. But you’ve got to stick with your guns. I wonder how many more days he gets in the 3 hole before Tito pulls the plug.
IF that happens Ortiz is going to flip out- he flips out when people just question his health
Coincidence he has heart palpitations that give him a scare (common side effect of steroid usage) and then just after that he has his worst season on the Sox…and an absolute atrocious start to 09??
Just sayin…
We agree Axl. Who was he before Manny was behind him? Exactly. Take that into account too.
Teix ‘s OPS is still over 100 points higher despite hitting sub .200. Ortiz’s problem isn’t just average. he’s not hitting for any power or walk either.
Joba could possibly be in both in the starting rotation and in the 8th inning at the same time.
I’m pretty sure this defies some of the laws of physics.
How many pitches?
88
They would be stupid not to send him back out there. But then again, Girardi is pretty stupid.
he’s on an inning limit. just means he has to have some 5 inning games down the road if you start lettign him go 7-8
What if there is no down the road? O_o
There wont be if you burn everyone out in April.
i think he’s at 88.
Symbolism FTW!!!
The BBTN studio will implode.
John Kruk will be right. Sort of.
What the hell is happening in the ballpark?
Dammit, not meant to reply here
Los Jobas?
I’m guessing Joba is not available to pitch the 8th tonight?
ZOMG1!11!!!!!! teh joba for teh 8th!!!!!!!!!111!11!
What is this !!!!!1!11!111! crap – I’m too new here to get the joke – Please someone educate me!
if 1′s or “teh” are included then it means they’re kidding.
Thank you – I appreciate the education
http://www.urbandictionary.com.....eoneeleven
Even better explanation – Thanks again
It’s when people go crazy. It’s a mock more or less. It’s a LoHudonian way of commenting. Ask someone what that is too. Welcome to RAB.
IMHO – It is overplayed here and very tired. Kinda stupid too.
ours up here [scorecard] is quite similar
Bet they put the hearts around Cano’s name in the booth.
The Tigers definitely raised Perry’s arm angle. He was damn near sidearm before.
Looks like they should have worked on him throwing strikes.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME! LEAVE HIM ALONE!
Man, Peña making some solid contact.
I was thinking the same exact thing, and he took a walk before too, very nice.
He’s got the glove, and not a complete automatic out & at least makes the pitcher use up a few pitches, should be locked in as the starting 3B until A-Rod returns.
And he should be the Urinary Tract Infection when ARod returns.
Agreed.
so dfa berroa or…is that not a problem until ransom comes of dl?
if pena really is jeter’s replacement, when Arod comes back shouldnt he be playing every day?
can we just alcides escobar from the brewers?
yankees have a flight to catch
Joba for the 8th? I hear it’s his inning.
So who will pitch the eighth this game?
Apparently Joba. Fantastic. I believe this is the first time he’s gotten this deep in the game as a starter.
Didn’t he go into the 8th during the Beckett game? Or am I forgetting something?
Na, 7. Farnsy started 8th.
He went 5.1 innings in that game
last season
the game log shows he only pitched 7.0 innings that game.
he may have been in the 8th, but didnt record an out
No. In that case, the game log would have noted it: “J. Chamberlain pitched to X batters in the 8th”
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/pl.....?year=2008
it’s the Yahoo game log for the player, doesnt give “pitched to X batters” just how many official outs they got
ESPN Game Log shows 5.1ip, 9h, 2r, 1er, 4bb, 2so
July 25 2008 is the game they are asking about
Duh – My bad
I want him to go deep everytime…he does have great stuff.
That’s what SHE said!
No no.. .THATS WHAT CONE SAID!
no no no…thats what CHARLES HALEY said
If Joba goes out there for the 8th, does that make the B-jobbers happy?
I think Tex’s wrist is bothering him, but he’s a tough guy trying to play through it, which is not good for the future imo
I think the wrist is more of a problem re: having your timing thrown off by being inactive at the start of the season. Being consistently pitched around is also an issue. ARod will fix that.
if wang rebounds to his normal self, the yankees could have 4 top of the rotation starters under 30. think about that.
Teixeira either goes yard or walks here.
Chance Farve comes back… again are?
Slim to none and John Madden just had Slim for dinner.
Joba needs to come out for the 8th. He’s being developed as a starter and finally has a chance to work a lot of innings at reasonable pitch counts. This is how you become a dominant starter.
Then again, I don’t trust Girardi to do anything intelligent, ever. We’ll see.
No reason for Girardi to take him out unless the Yankees have another monster inning here.
The only reason to take him that even remotely makes sense is to save some bullets for later, meaning it’s an inning he can pitch at a more crucial time later in the year.
I say send him back out there. He turned the corner in like, the 4th inning and I want him to build on that.
that, and no one outside of Melancon has really pitched since Saturday.
Veras and Edwar got an inning last night. that’s about it.
At least Teix is still taking his walks while slumping.
Considering his average, the OBP is insane.
Yes, nice patience. Sometimes they start hacking to get out of a slump. Jason Giambi anyone?
his OBP is what .370 while batting .200
Not a day goes by without a Joba to the pen argument. It is like a contagious disease, b-jober syndrome.
El sanitario está aún en funcionamiento
jobas comin out for the 8th!!!
Wow when Rodriguez comes back, there will be pretty much no automatic out in the order.
Holy loaded bases!
This ain’t the NCAA, puta.
And people think I’ve got a mouth…
I was raised in a Hispanic household, I have no choice.
You? Not really…
Oh, I think she’s got a mouth…
So why is Ryan Perry in the Show? He wasn’t exactly awesome in A ball, and he could clearly use some work.
Pretty much the same reason that Porcello is in the bigs, Tigers hitting the panic button & also trying to save money.
Anytime someone refers to it as “the show” I immediately think Bull Duhram.
Yeah, I was in the show. I was in the show for 21 days once – the 21 greatest days of my life. You know, you never handle your luggage in the show, somebody else carries your bags. It was great. You hit white balls for batting practice, the ballparks are like cathedrals, the hotels all have room service, and the women all have long legs and brains.
nice
how bout the other big quote?
These boots are made for walkin’
and that’s just what they’ll do
one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
Robbie’s my fantasy teams 2b. this situation makes me very happy.
+1
damnit.
Robbie go oppy for me puulllleeeeease.
Robinson Crusoe?
Why do you guys want him to pitch the 8th? An inning or two saved in April is an inning or two he has to pitch later on when we need him to go deep in a game. I’d rather his games be shortened in blowouts like this.
looks like hes done, after long inning sitting there, pen guys could use some work, probably the best move.
Purely for the irony.
Meh, I don’t really care one way or the other.
I just love him pitching the 8th for the pure comedic value.
A) No reason to pull him at only 88 pitches if he’s cruising
B) Comedy/irony of “Joba can’t pitch teh eighth if he starts!”
Well, Canó does have awful numbers with the bases loaded.
Bah, robbie killed that one too. Oh well…
Just showed Joba shaking hands in the dugout. Looks like he’s out.
Joba’s not coming back. That inning was too long.
Oddly the Yankees offense & having a long inning has effectively knocked out the starter back to back nights.
yeah I thought the same thing.
at least it took 8 pitches to get him out.
For that…I shall call him BOBBY CANO! ARIBA!
Aww.
Joba could have gone more innings but the rest of our bullpen actually needed work. He felt bad.
Damn nice catch by Swish.
Swish with D. Awesome!!
Swish the Dish!
Swisher is all sorts of awesome.
There was an alarm tripped??
This is creepy.
The indians’ bullpen is quite shaky eh?
What the hell is going on here?
wtf just happened?
apparently the ballpark is being evacuated
Whoa, this is kinda scary.
bomb threat???
So if the game is canceled we won right?
fire alarm is going off in the Tigers Stadium…
What do you think the odds are that an upset trashy fan pulled it to be a prick and its not legit?
I will say 100%
A happy Axl is a smart Axl.
called it
I blame either Selig or Lucchino.
It’s a conspiracy. C-O-N… SPIRACY!!!
Comerica Park.
Buh?
well this is a first
Who knew stadiums even HAD fire alarms?
Wow, this is weird.
what the hell
WTF is happening?
… ITS A BALL GAME. Seriously.
lol what the hell was that about.
Haha, Joe is going to be arguing with the security guard when the stadium blows. Gotta love his intensity.
That’s what I thought. Joe was going to yell at the fans “Where do you think you’re going?”
Who pulls the fire alarm in a public place, thats not cool
This goes down as the craziest shit I’ve seen during a ball game.
LOL FALSE ALARM AHAHAHHHAHA OWNED!
Are the Indians blowing their lead?
Oh boy…
Indians offense = Good like Happy Axl
Indians pitching = Bad like Confused/Frustrated Axl
yes
Yes, their bullpen just is full of sucktitude.
detroit is a joke
They see someone with the swine?
Wow, Swisher really IS getting hot!
(Someone had to say it.)
I was about to say it and saw this, well done
IETC
Indians bullpen is really blowing right now…
Score?
5-3 now…bases loaded 1 out…JD Drew pinch hitting for Nick Green
5-4. JD Drew hit a routine DP ball to 2nd and they don’t turn it…
ok i’ll admit it was a tad slow…but not really
Aaaaaaand now it’s 5-5. Dammit.
Ken Singleton is hilarious. Playing judge.
Is Ken Singleton gonna have to choke a bitch?
Ken Singleton is Not Amused.
Oh man, the Indians are not gonna survive this…
Wasn’t Betencourt good a few years back? I remember in the playoffs he was like part of a 2 pitcher tandum that was filthy…what happened???
Heh, bases loaded jam with only one out and a 2 run lead in the 8th… and Win Expectancy still says the Indians are a 69% chance to win the game.
1 run lead… : /
Nevermind, tie game with runners still on 1st and 3rd and 2 out…
Coke looked good that inning.
pena should definitely stay up in the majors as our utility guy…
he offers plus-plus defense and slightly above avg. speed and his bats been better than expected…
Agreed. Berroa is absolutely pointless at this point. I’d rather hav someone like Miranda up who can potentially come off the bench to pinch hit, Angel is just eating up space.
so who would be the backup SS/2Bman?
Isn’t Pena a natural SS?
was that comment not worded like he meant dump Angel for Miranda RIGHT NOW?
yeah, def that’s why i didn’t say anything
No sorry, I meant when Arod comes back which I assume they will do
word, my bad. “eating up space” threw me off.
I just heard someone arguing recently for keeping Berroa and sending down Pena which I think would be a mistake
I’d imagine Pena would back up 2B, 3B, and SS. All three spots.
We’re not likely to need to lift Cano, Jeter, or ARod all that frequently, certainly not two at a time.
exactly…
pena, nady (when he comes back), brelky gabrera, jose molina, miranda
that’s a SOLID bench
utility def/speed type, a right and left handed power bat, 4th OF and gunslinging catcher
That’s 5 guys.
We’re not carrying a 5 man bench, that means a 6 man bullpen.
yeah, def your right. but still that’s the solid bench we’ve been screaming for for the past few years.
Seriously, 4 games and a couple of webgems.
its not just the webgems… pena knows how to play defense… whens the last time you remember someone just trying to stop the ball with the body instead of the glove for the yankees? his range is just a plus… that a 22 year old plays with such veteran grit is seriously awesome
Plus every scouting report has him as a great fielder
other dugout, phil
how messed up was that? hilarious
I thought there was a earthquake or something… we channel surfed and forgot about the game, then as we go back the camera was shakin and people were evacuating.
I think my first thought was the same as some other people. Terrorism.
Three spillover threads every night is pretty cool.
i think being affiliated to the yes network helps…
damn, that’s gotta be pretty cool for the rab owners.
Holy shit i’m embarrassed. I check this site twenty times a day and that is the first time I’ve noticed the YES banner.
Yeah, agreed, it’s really nice to see a great job recognized
Not to mention the expense accounts, company car and trips to Hawaii.
River Ave Hookers.
Gets really crazy during the draft, but the game threads do get much longer each year
I came over from LoHud once I started reading the comments here and realizing it was possible to have rational discussion.
Sometimes… Well. Most of the time. The big three do a great job.
Had class, didn’t get to see the game but I see Joba’s line: 6 innings, 3 hits, 3 walks, 1 run, 6 Ks–did he look as good as this line suggests?
Started off a bit rocky (bad control) but once we scored a handful of runs he was flat out dominant. Great outing.
7 IP, not 6. He had one rough inning, the 3rd in which he allowed the run and gave up 3 walks, but other than that he was rock solid.
Litle shaky in the beginning but the 7 spot allowed him to settle in and torch people.
Considering that the line should read 7 innings and not 6, he was even better than that line suggests.
Great, thanks guys.
I hate the Red Sox…
And I REALLY hate Don Orsillo
LETS GO LOS TIGRES! I love watching the Yankees win. And score runs.
Sox just tied it up, runners still on 1st and 3rd…Pedroia up with a .667 lifetime avg against Jenson who’s on the mound.
A nice error by the Indians before hand…
Is the Red Sox bullpen this good? It seems like nobody is scoring on them at all…well everyone not named Lopez…
Don’t know how or why it posted this twice…certainly weird though…
Is the Red Sox bullpen this good? It seems like nobody is scoring on them at all…well everyone not named Lopez…
jacoby ellsbury’s birthday is september 11th
These smoking commercials are gross.
I’ve had enough with the scare tactics already.
Smoking’s gross.
yes it is. yes, it, is.
Yeah, the sad thing is that it is true
Aysh Albie io got a shitton of work to do. Please to be throwing strikes.
Lugo is staying in the game at SS after pinch running…so maybe that win expectancy will remain at 67% after-all TSJC…
johnny alphabet goes from last man in the pen to third man for one game and then right back to last
I mean I know I’ve been pretty good lately…but our bullpen really is awful. I mean it’s BAD.
Yup. Most bullpen never give up runs, ever. Phil Coke was awful last inning.
That’s right.
fuck. i go out to dinner w/ my special lady (not my lady friend), right at the beginning of the 4th and bang. there it goes. miss out on all the fun and all the wonders of a good Joba start.
why is Berrora playing third??? he sucks at third.
and Gardner in center?? really? Girardi thinks Gardner is a better center fielder than melky???
He’s a retard of a manager. We have already established this.
Seriously? I think he’s quite good. So you haven’t established anything.
He over manages almost every game. Some of his calls to the pen are that of what we can call “Clueless Joe.”
He overmanaged one game this season. People like to complain about every little move, but he does a good job of spreading the workload among his relievers, riding his starter when he needs innings, and is willing to tinker with his lineup based on platoon advantage.
I’ll put it this way. Proven Veteran team= Passive manager. Young team with potential = Aggressive manager.
Except that there are portions of this team that are not proven or veteran, and that is the only thing he tinkers with.
quite good? you must be watching games while high..
girardi sucks as manager of the yankees.
Good, cogent argument. I dont know why I didnt think of it that way. Flawless logic.
says the guy who complained that Berroa and Gardner came in with an 8-1 lead.
Melky and Pena started.
i can’t even tell anymore if this is sarcasm
Girardi is a moron.
coming from you, that’s a vote of confidence.
Is Jeter that bad at short?
Wow. A Damon/Gardner/Swish OF is an out field of 3 horrible arms.
Except its Melky, Gardner, Swisher.
I am saying when it is. Okay.
well, luckily , melky is out there, and swish’s isn’t horrible.
Ohh man Albie. Stop sucking. Please.
Jonathon Van Every is having “a game” for the Red Sox Orsillo says?? Who the hell are these guys?? Everybody performs who they bring up it seems…
I still don’t get how that dude got more of a bio/intro on Sunday night than Melancon did.
Everybody hates the Yankees…and everybody also happens to love the Red Sox for some reason. Which only increases the hatred for the Yankees when you love the Red Sox…
C’mon Albie, quit the shit.
Joe says “I just want to get on a freaking plane!!!”
Yo, Johnnie A: let’s get these last two outs and call it a night, k?
albie ‘s crying dragon tears…which we all know turn into jellybeans!!
Oh my. It can’t.. No it can’t.. Stop..
why is albie still pitching???
Nice.
Yankees bullpen has allowed 50 runs in 20 games. The most ever in the history of the Yankees.
Just showed that stat on ESPN…
Pretty terrible.
who cares…it’s 20 games. a players value is not made in 20 games. go over and hand with steve at waswatching
come on. one more out.
The Yankees have one of their best BPs in recent memory…
Mo
Bruney
Melancon
Marte
Veras
Coke
Alby
Robertson
and lastly
NICK SWISHER.
seriously though, those are real good arms and we still haven’t seen Steven Jackson and his nice split finger…
who cares…it’s 20 games. a players value is not made in 20 games. go over and hand with steve at waswatching.
sorry…whong place…computer going crazy.
Jon Lester’s ERA 5.40
Joba Chamberlin’s ERA 3.13
It goes without being said that Buster Olney starts his column tomorrow wondering when Lester goes to the pen right? Maybe it’s because 5.40 isn’t “mediocre” it’s just bad he won’t suggest it.
Does Boston need bullpen help???
Obviously, they need to put their best pitchers in the bullpen.
Girardi is enough.
Pathetic.
What’s the over/under on number of pitches he has to throw to get this last out? I say 0.5.
There goes Alby’s shot to pitch important innings.
By Mo!
Oh my Mo. I can’t believe this is necessary.
He has to go to Rivera up 8-1 in the 9th.
Really?
And we have a reliable pen?
87 MPH? What?
That 88 MPH wasn’t much better…
Wow, Mo, is everything ok?
of course, haven’t you heard of suspense? He want to see what the hype was all about, thought it was boring, and got the last out. Done.
Oh my Mo. If we blow this…
Ouch
Okay Joba needs to close games. End of story!1!!!11!
Hahaha
oh my mo!
LOL. All….we…..need……is….one….more….out
Why is Mo in this game w/a five run lead…?
2 run…
Gameday’s slow, sorry.
he hasn’t pitched since Friday.
if Robertson coughs it up, people would be bitching that he brought Robertson into a “tough spot”
This is real bad. Our bullpen is utterly terrible…
Well Robertson could have done that.
Why even waste Roberston, I could have done that.
You have got to be kidding me.
what the fuck is going on.
lol the curse of farnsworth
Get this shlub “Mo” outta there and get Melancon to nail it down.
COME ON MO!!!
K, back to my paper. This game was going much better when I wasn’t gamedayiing it. Sorry guys.
Man, Girardi lacks the midas touch. LOL.
Well the good news is the Indians have the bases loaded for Grady Sizemore…but there are 2 outs. Delcarmen has walked 2 and hit a batter…
Yea
I guess Mo just wanted the save.
I feel like pissing my pants.
Only Girardi can make me want a manager fired after an 8-1 lead in the 9th.
What the hell was the point of pulling Alphabet there?
Why rush Mo into an 8-3 game with 2 outs in the ninth?
so very true
Lol, just to rip the manager. Albie looked awful, was getting smacked around. Nobody rushed anything, and every single manager in the history of baseball would have gone to Mo there, especially considering that he has not pitched in a while and needs the work.
I don’t care how he looked. THERE WERE TWO OUTS IN THE NINTH IN A 5 RUN GAME.
really, you DON’T think he should have pulled Albie? really?
its posts like this that prove you would just complain no matter what Girardi did.
bump
That should NOT be necessary.
Girardi is a clueless Joe. How do you bring in Rivera in this game when you got 4 games vs the Angels coming up and an 8-3 lead?
Another guy here just to rip the manager. As I said above, every manager would have done that- Albie struggling, Mo needing the work.
Mo hasn’t pitched in several days. And its one out.. omg were going wear Mo out.
You don’t rush your 40 year old closer into 5-run games with 2 outs in the ninth. He can get work tomorrow.
Don’t worry Mo won’t blow this…………See guys.
Nice game by Joba and Swisher !!
its not the bullpen that sucks…its the manager not knowing when to take someone out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man I just got home in the top of the 9th, I almost cost us the game I guess!!! BTW, Mo was throwing balloons up there, I really hope its just cause he didnt warm up enough.
i think its interesting how joe g offers high fives to certain players, handshakes to others
Yeah, the point is Orsillo likes to yell and scream a lot when nothing out of the ordinary is happening. Maybe that wasn’t the best example…
Yeah. Last year, the NESN guys weren’t that bad and I didn’t mind them all that much. They’ve definitely gotten worse in ’09.
Oh boy, BTN started out talking about it looked like something is wrong with Mo’s leg.
Wouldn’t be surprised. At it to the laundry list of injuries that’s only just begun…
*add
and they also keep up their b-jobbing (fucktards Phillips and Kruk mainly, of course)
Changed channel
you still watch espn?
that only two buttons that you need when you’re on that channel is mute and either the up or down channel buttons.
They are incredibly insightful and spot-on with everything they say and analyze. I thought everyone knew this (as I reach for the Mute button…)
So what excuse will the B-Jobbing MSM have tonight?
still harping on him not throwing 98-100
*loads bullet into gun
It’s weird how Joe Torre had a short hook…and Girardi seems to be doing the exact opposite…
Hopefully Mo’s get these hr balls out of his system.
Great, BTN now getting everyone up in arms speculating Mo is hurt in his leg.
Apparently it’s “something they’ll keep their eyes on” and “they may need Joba in the bullpen more than ever.” I hate these people.
You knew BTN would go here.
i have swisher and granderson on my fantasy team. holler.
same with me!
sweet.
It really baffles me how supposed baseball experts apparently don’t realize that a pitcher can throw maximum effort when he is expected to get 3 batters. Any pitcher in the majors can go add 3-4 MPH on their fastball if they only need to throw 15 pitches.
i think Joba could pitch back to back no-hitters and espn would still say he belongs in the bullpen
“They weren’t perfect games. Bullpen.”
Haha, true. He would still only be an “ok” starter and a “special reliever”…
Who the fuck is this Van Every prick?!?!
30 yr old career minor leaguer having the night of his life.
Why in the fuck does Jacoby Ellsbury jump every time he makes a catch on the warning track?
Every boston prospect is successful for some reason…doesn’t make sense
Van Every has had one good game. That’s hardly “successful.”
That’s not what ESPN will say, haha.
Haha, touche.
Dear Kelley Shopach, please beat the crap out of the ball against your old team.
I still don’t get why they play “Charge” at baseball games.
And why did Sizemore not get time there? Bullshit. He asked in plenty of time and the ump even flinched. And the pitch was outside. Take him deep, Grady!
He had a rough game.
Damn. Grady missed his pitch to hit on the pitch before the last one.
