YES has him at 89-90. Gameday and Pitch F/X have him at 92-94.
Fangraphs said his average fastball velocity was 93.7 last year. Probably just an Opening Day thing . . . but in combination with his lack of fastball command, it’s why he’s getting knocked around today.

It’s to ensure that the people who bought tickets to Opening Day get to see the first game of the year. If this game got rained out, they would have played the first game tomorrow.
If they played say, three games in a row, then the people who bought tickets to Game Two could have seen Opening Day.

It’s in case of a rainout in the first game, not the stupidest thing ever. People who paid to go to Opening day should get to go to Opening Day and if the first game is rained out, this ensures that they still have the Opening Day tickets.

CC’s a notoriously slow starter. If you consider that he started with a 7+ ERA in April last year and still finished with those ridiculous numbers, I like our chances in the second half of the season.
