Is that 5 left on base for Tex?

  • mko

Frustrating…runner on third with 1 out and they can’t get him in.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Stupid fucking bunt. The runner was already in scoring position and Pena’s kinda fast.

    • Mike Pop

Yea, I tend to agree. A base hit gets him in either way.

      Yeah, absolutely pointless.

Anyone surprised Yankees couldn’t score? Just terrible.
The only way they score is if the runner is not in scoring position..

They probably could’ve scored if they didn’t waste an out with the bunt.

This is a great example for why Joba belongs in the rotation. Their bullpen has been lights out, yet they are in a position to lose. Had their starter been lights out, they’d be in a position to win. Simple.

          • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ Artist formerly known as ‘The’ Steve

Maybe you were listening on radio, but if you were watching the game you might have noticed he couldn’t locate his fastball all day.

Also, if you ever played Catcher you might know that when your pitcher is off, you call for some curveballs to get him back on track.

            • B.George

you never abandon your fastball and posada is awful defensivley…..i understand you get him back on track with a curveball michael kay but what are you getting back on track with if you throw it 5 times in a row…..you are being timid with a guy you should be overwhelming with in that situation. you should have been attacking more i dont care how bad you are doing

I think you’ll find it tough to find a single game-thread from any blog on any team that doesn’t have knee-jerk reactions.

      • Drew

I don’t even think its knee-jerk. We’re all disapointed because we’ve been waiting so long for this day to come, now it’s here, and we’re playing like shit with the exception of a few.

        • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ Artist formerly known as ‘The’ Steve

Screaming about whether we bunt or not and how long we leave a reliever in a game in April is knee-jerk. Sorry.

          • Drew

Eh, whether it’s April, May, June, July, etc. we’re going to voice our opinion if we feel Swisher should’ve hit or Bruney should’ve come in or a guy shouldn’t have bunted to get a guy to third. I don’t see it as knee jerk because I’ll be saying the same thing in 3 months if I disagree with a managerial move..

      • mko

I guess…in my mind it was different here last season though. But either I remember it wrong or there are a lot of new people around…getting bigger is not always better.

    • Mark B

How can you not be concerned when your two big free agent pick-ups who have notoriously slow starts look terrible and the weakest link in our team – our bullpen, sans Mo – blew a gasket?

      • BklynJT

Well since they are known to have notoriously slow starts, shouldn’t their performances today be expected.

      • pat

BECAUSE ITS THE FIRST F*CKING GAME OF THE SEASON

      • mko

This is baseball! It’s not football where there are only 16 games.
So what, Sabathia had a bad outing. The bullpen wasn’t very good, but that’s what happens when a lot of runs are scored in a game.
Jeter was 3 for 5, Damon was 2 for 3, Matsui and Posada homered, Cano was 1 for 3 and drew 2 walks…
Just because many of the guys didn’t play their best today, this doesn’t say much for the next time around.

      • Sweet Dick Willie

and the weakest link in our team – our bullpen

I think our defense is the weakest link. The bullpen will wind up being a strength.

Don’t judge a season on one game.
