  2. Drew says:

    Cmon X man

  3. Reggie C. says:

    C’mon Nady. Pull a Swish!

  4. Drew says:

    Shocker

  5. BigBlueAL says:

    Nady vs RHP = BENCH!!!!

  6. Someone in the last thread mentioned the iPhone MLB app… I agree, it’s pretty awesome. Well worth the money.

  7. I smell a big Cano hit in our immediate future.

  8. Drew says:

    CANOli

  9. Mike Axisa says:

Cano is en fuego this April.

  10. dan says:

Wouldn’t it be cool if Gameday showed you who was warming up in the bullpen?

  11. Jamal G. says:

Heh, things you’d never thought you see: Robbie Cano with a .170 IsoD (prior to that hit).

  12. Drew says:

    i <3 SWISHA

  13. Jamal G. says:

Nick Swisher AB’s are so damn fun to watch.

  14. Drew says:

How effing good is this guy! Start him Joe!

  15. Mister Delaware says:

If Swisher isn’t in the lineup tomorrow …

  16. BigBlueAL says:

Swisher!!! I hope Girardi is paying attention….

  17. Reggie C. says:

Swish is schooling Nady right now. Get that man guaranteed at-bats!

  18. Corey says:

    in play, run(s)!

  19. Mattingly's Love Child says:

That’s how to take the starting RF job!

    • AJ says:

Couldn’t agree more. Not only is he doing it at the plate, but I’d have to say he has a slight edge in fielding. I have no idea why Nady has that cleanup spot today. It should have went to Swisher.

Now let’s see if Ransom can get a big base knock.

  20. Nick “Full Count” Swisher comes through again.

  21. Yankees < ............ says:

    My turn,my turn….Swisher > Nady.

  22. Reggie C. says:

Susan Waldmans’ favorite reference: “chicken little”

  23. B.George says:

    NICK THE STICK!!!

  24. desus says:

Swisher is gonna test positive for Grit. I read it in a Dominican Newspaper

  25. Drew says:

    Cmon!!! earn that grit badge!

  26. Yankees < ............ says:

Grit? I had grits in the south and they are an aquired taste.

  27. Mattingly's Love Child says:

This has been a very gritty inning, Grit better be part of all that grit.

  28. Reggie C. says:

Sterling: “Ponson pitching tomorrow. Joe G. should sub Nady for Swisher. Load up on lefties.”

The man is not totally clueless.

  29. Drew says:

    I <3 Bass

  30. Mattingly's Love Child says:

He gritted all over that ball, hence the wild throw!

  31. AJ says:

I was yelling at Gardner until Bass messed that one up – way to go O’s. A nice little two-run error. Can we credit Bass with two RBIs?

  32. Will (the other one) says:

Anybody else using MLB.com Gameday to follow right now? Its current wisdom on Gardner: “Loves to face: Changeup. Hates to face: Changeup.”

Here’s to you, Twilight Zone Gardner.

    • Corey says:

i’d imagine that thing is dynamic, and works off results…might just so happen that most of gardners hits have come off the change up and most of his outs came off the change up…it’ll change when theres more data

  33. B.George says:

No Way Nady scores on the pathetic excuse of a throw by Bass.

  34. Reggie C. says:

Anybody else think Burnett is done after 5?

  35. Tony says:

Bretty G gets things done. He made that all happen. Never go, Brett. Never go.

  36. steve (different one) says:

the grittiness was the only thing preventing a rally killing 1-2-3 DP!!!!

  37. Drew says:

    ahahaha

  38. BigBlueAL says:

    Clutch hit for Molina!!

  39. B.George says:

Theres a real puss line to right!!

  40. Jamal G. says:

I like baseball; this is fun.

  41. Reggie C. says:

Okay guys! Lets pile it on!

  42. Brooklyn Ed says:

Mo bless Ransom and Gardner and Brett’s clutch.

    :D

  43. Tony says:

Oh my goodness… they look like a real baseball team. THEY LOOK LIKE A REAL BASEBALL TEAM.

I’m going to miss the Beer League/99-03 Red Sox style of play.

  44. YankeeScribe says:

The Orioles still have HORRIBLE relief pitching…

  45. Okay, for those of us not watching, but merely following on ESPN GameCast, you’re going to have to elucidate us on what just happened.

All I got is “Garnder safe at second on throwing error by pitcher Bass, Cano and Swisher scored, Ransom to third.

Was that a squeeze bunt with a wild throw to first induced by Gardner hustling down the line?

  46. Drew says:

    Jeter <3′s gidp

  47. LC says:

there’s the captain we know and love

  48. BigBlueAL says:

The 1st of many this season…

  49. jb says:

As long as nothing catastrophic happens looks like the O’Neill Corrolary will be further proved.

  50. AJ says:

I’m hoping Burnett can have a quick little inning here. Sit them down, keep the momentum going the Yankees way and hand the game off to the bullpen.

  51. Jamal G. says:

    This ump is a jackass.

    • AJ says:

Gotta agree. That was a strike if I ever saw one.

Alright, let’s see if Phil Coke can keep the O’s in the park today.

  52. BigBlueAL says:

Damn Burnett is done. No quality starts yet for the Yankees starters so far this season.

  53. steve (different one) says:

    crack analysis from Abraham:

UPDATE, 3:25 p.m.: Ross Ohlendorf pitched a gem today for the Pirates. Six shutout innings so far. It was a good trade at the time but he’ll be the guy they regret losing, not Tabata.

  54. Ooooh, Cokefiend.

Big bounceback time here. Let’s go.

  55. Axl says:

Who does everybody want to win…Sox or Rays?? Who finishes better? I still want the Rays in that game..the Sox are coming back though…

  56. BigBlueAL says:

Nice job Coke. Now hopefully Girardi doesnt leave him in for another 2 innings and wait for him to give up a HR to take him out….

  57. dkidd says:

    i’ll have a coke and a smile

  58. Jamal G. says:

Hot damn, Phil Coke is awesome.

  59. Drew says:

    “A nastsy deuce” cmon Kay

  60. Xavier Nady and Nick Swisher: Dueling Banjos

  61. Mister Delaware says:

    That was beautiful.

  62. KW says:

    Whaddya know?

  63. Jamal G. says:

Oh, Cano, you are fucking awesome.

  64. Mattingly's Love Child says:

    DAMN!

  65. Alex S says:

i am so not regretting drafting cano…..

  66. BigBlueAL says:

    Cano = All-Star

  67. Dan says:

    atta be robi

  68. POSIEDON, LOOK AT MEEEEEEEEE! WOAH-OH!!!

  69. Matt says:

I’ve been in class since 12:30 but…NICK SWISHER, BABY! WOO!

  70. Seemingly counterintuitive (but not) reason #1 why I like Swisher more than Nady:

    Swisher makes productive outs.

  71. Tampa Yankee says:

Swisher has seen 28 pitches in his 4 at bats (8-7-6-7). That’s ridiculous.

  72. futhermuckers says:

    ROBBYYY!!!!!!

  73. Drew says:

    Nasty Slide.

  74. Drew says:

Mo might be coming in later he needs some work.

  75. First Coke, now Veras. I’m telling you, I love how interchangeably good our relievers are at racking up strikeouts.

    They’re like the Imperial Stormtroopers.

  76. Drew says:

Veras ahead in the count = Money.

  77. dkidd says:

    veras is dealing

  78. Jamal G. says:

Whoops, didn’t mean to post this as a reply: http://tinyurl.com/dyjb76

  79. Alex S says:

way to earn that AB melky

  80. Chip says:

So yeah that was a shitty pinch hitting appearance by Melky but I think we just got Jeter out for the defensive Pena while ahead late in a game. Hope to see this more later in the season :D

    • Rob in CT says:

When I see that happening in a game up at Fenway, bottom of the 9th, Yanks up by 1, I’ll believe (that Girardi has giant balls of steel).

  81. Alex S says:

that guy that caught swisher’s HR was like “what”

  82. Girardi lifts Jeter to pinch hit Melky. He’s got balls. Beautiful.

And then, we get the defensive replacement in Peña, all under the guise of giving the youngsters some run. Brilliant.

  83. Drew says:

    Oh k. k. k.

  84. Coke-Marte-Bruney:

8 batters faced, 8 batters retired, 5 strikeouts.

Someone put Wallace Matthews on suicide watch… I think we may end up being okay in the 8th inning after all.

  85. Jamal G. says:

    Ramiro Pena > Elvis Andrus.

  86. dkidd says:

funny moment in the dodgers game: clayton kershaw on third, manny at the plate, third base ump calls time to advise clayton to take his lead in foul territory so he won’t be killed by a line drive

  87. jsbrendog says:

i dont get it, espn gamecast says pena s hitting….how is that possible? shouldnt it be damon?

  88. jsbrendog says:

double switch? so you can switch their spots in the lineup?

  89. Jamal G. says:

Heh, only Mike Francesa can praise Bronson Arroyo after today’s outing.

  90. El Generalissimo says:

Cano is clearly amazing, and I guess our bullpen aint so bad after all.

  91. Quikksand says:

    11-2 Yankees

  92. Jamal G. says:

    Nick Swisher: Not Xavier Nady.

  93. Oh boy… Swisher’s looking prettay, prettay good.

  94. Rich says:

    Start. Him.

  95. Mattingly's Love Child says:

Swisher trying to take a stranglehold on the starting RF job eh?

  96. Quikksand says:

    Markakis ends the inning

  97. dkidd says:

what’s the record for pitches seen in a game?

  98. steve (different one) says:

if Swisher is really going to be 2006-2007 Swisher, this team is going to be awesome.

  99. jonathan says:

EVERYONE CHECK OUT THE PITCHING LINE ON CARL PAVANO!!! HERES ALITTLE TASTE: 1IP, 9R, 9ER.

  100. mustang says:

I was wondering how many times of one game would I see the Swisher for Nady thing come up?

Yes about 300 times that what I figure it’s going to be a long year.

  101. cuponoodles says:

I’ll take Nick Swisher and his 5 RBI day anytime…

  102. A.D. says:

Kyle Davies tossed a gem today

  103. dkidd says:

from here on = 1998 after the 1-4 start

  104. A.D. says:

Well Swisher only had a 5 RBI game once last season, and only recorded 3 hits in a game twice, and only had a double and a HR in the same game 3 times (none of which were a 3 hit game).

Net in net much better start this year

  105. Jamal G. says:

Anyone know what happened with Mike Lowell?

  106. cuponoodles says:

    Did anyone catch Dotel’s outing?

6 Ks in 2 innings pitched. Fuego!

  107. The Evil Empire says:

    Let the games begin!

  108. The Evil Empire says:

DAMMIT 2 HR already for Jason!? WTF

  109. Jamal G. says:

Why is Troy Percival pitching important innings for a contender?

  110. Troy Percival’s GameCast picture makes him look like the creepy guy up the block your parents told you to avoid.

  111. steve (different one) says:

how is it possible that the Red Sox and Yankees have the same record?

    • mustang says:

Because they are only three games in, but don’t tell the Mets fans that they think they are one win from the World Series.

  112. SS says:

I think Cano saw Pedroia “win” his MVP, and decided that he’d show the douchebag up. He certainly had a good series. Let’s hope he can keep up the momentum.
