I'm guessing, as you said, that he chose a few different slots to throw from, and was able to hit those slots pretty consistently. If he didn't hit those spots consistently, he probably wouldn't have been an effective pitcher. Repeatability in a delivery is very important to being able to control your pitches. Agreed.
