Report: A-Rod could be back in late April
ByWhile the Yankees have publicly set May 15 as Alex Rodriguez’s return date from hip surgery, a new report alleges that A-Rod could return by late April. A-Rod, out since going under the knife on March 9, has begun to swing the bat and according to Kevin Long, is at about 70 percent strength. The Yankees will move A-Rod from Colorado to Tampa this week, and if all goes better than planned, A-Rod could be back before April ends. The sooner the Yanks get A-Rod back, the better off they will be.

I hope this is right. I won’t bet my life on it, but I hope it’s true.
How is he healinG so Hurriedly?
The initial time line was 6-9 weeks. May 15 was at the far end of the timeline, and the Yanks have been pessimistic about A-Rod’s recovery. While it’s funny to allege illicit drug use, the reality is that a late April return wouldn’t be anything other than 6-7 weeks of recovery.
Considering A-Rod’s work ethic, everyone should have expected him to come in on the early side of projections. Even the A-Rod haters, players and fans alike, marvel at his dedication. I’m happy he might be back “early” but not surprised at all. And he’s on my fantasy team, so even better.
Also considering the fact that hes in .0001% of the population of the world athletically. Some of these guys are practically superhuman, normal time lines for recovery simply don’t apply when its your JOB to get recovered and you’re a freak of nature.
Perhaps hE worked harD.
Right. Exactly. He Always Bustles.
IETC.
ARe yOu posItive, Die-hard YankeeS fan.
That’s Right, ARod kNows New York is Home; Overall his Offense Kills that of Emergency Replacements So hurry back!
Wow That’s Fascinating.
IETC
Let me guess, u must be a Red Sox fan? Yes I’m a Yankee fan 4 life and no I don’t care 2 much about AROD but u know what enough is enough. It takes a whole team to become champs and just arod. Can’t wait to see the rest of the names on the list, and here’s the best one I live in NEW ENGLAND.

Nicely done.
Joe Girardi said Arod hasn’t responded to his messages yet so how could the press know about his progress before his manager?
How could the press know before his manager? I could think of a few ways.
1. A-Rod told them.
2. Scott Boras told them.
3. A-Rod’s doctor told them. (Unlikely because it’s illegal.)
4. Brian Cashman spoke to A-Rod and told the press.
5. A-Rod spoke to someone else and that someone else told the press.
I could keep going, but my point is that just because A-Rod hasn’t spoken to Girardi doesn’t mean that someone else doesn’t know. Who said that A-Rod hasn’t returned Girardi’s calls anyway?
“3. A-Rod’s doctor told them. (Unlikely because it’s illegal.)”
Heh. Reminds me of when we found out that Torre learned about his cancer from Big Stein and not a doctor.
“Girardi said he is waiting for Alex Rodriguez to return a message so he can find out how his rehab is progressing.”
Lohud, posted at 3:38, the article is 5:40 so he could have called in that 2 hours.
Anyways, I see your point but I find it hard to believe that they would call anyone else before Girardi. Maybe Cashman but he would’ve relayed the message to Girardi pretty much right after.
I think the first call is a conference call to Cash and a team doctor. Cash then tells Girardi what to say.
I think it said he’d been talking with Kevin Long every day, something I didn’t know till now, not sure if it had been previously known publicly
Uh oh. Jay Cutler part deux.
Let’s trade ARod to the Nationals for their two first round draft picks, a third rounder, and Ronnie Belliard.
I would have said Zimmerman but IETC.
Kyle Orton is much more comparable to Ronnie Belliard than to Ryan Zimmerman.
The goal is to mimic the move of the Broncos (namely, give yourself a lovely bounty of picks but a mammoth hole in your starting lineup)
Opening Day at the Stadium would be like five and a half weeks I believe, you’d have to think he wants to be there very badly.
He probably does want to be there very badly, but he probably won’t be there.
Yet another reason why I am extremely optimistic about this season.
Yanks better get off to a hot start because THE COOLERS coming back sooner than we think.
I solemnly swear not to argue with public who stupidly think the Yanks are better off without A-Rod. Even Curt Schilling admits that A-Rod makes the Yanks better. Get over it.

Fail.
I didn’t give arod that nickname his teamates on the texas rangers did.
Texas has been so much better since he left.
I’d say they’ve been about the same.
It wasn’t just arod that left, Palmero and Irod left and they traded soriano in 2005 for Brad Wilkerson, termel Sledge and Galaraga. Plus all those years at the bottom of the pile gave them great draft picks and eventually guys like Kinsler, Texiera, Blalock, ect.
So no, it wasn’t just Arod.
In fairness, Tex and Blalock came along long before A-Rod showed up. They drafted Tex the summer before they signed A-Rod.
Arod left in 2003, Tex came up in 2003, Blalock came up in 2002. He left when they were just beginning to emerge. Thats my point.
No one ever mocks somebody somebody considerably more talented than them and getting paid significantly more than them without COMPLETELY valid and completely grounded-in-reality reasons… right?
When you’re the best there are always haters, especially when its your profession and you’re simply better than everybody else. Just because you’re a team doesn’t mean camaraderie is required.
Much like Curt Schilling’s GM called him a horse every fifth day, and a horse’s ass the other 3. That’s 3 time title winner Curt Schilling. There are many other nicknames and quotes about Schilling from former teammates that are far from flattering. Did that stop him from winning? Of course not. If you truly think A-Rod is bad for the team, you just don’t get baseball.
You’re so easily spun.
WS MVP 2009 – Alex Rodriguez
I said this last week. I’m sticking by April 20th.
Hey I can’t listen to the radioshow but i will be there for the draft
if (sorry, when) we start strong out of the gate, the tabloids will go crazy with “yanks are better off without alex” crapola. the sooner he gets back and nips that in the bud, the better
Of course, and they’ll completely ignore the fact that their first six games are against the O’s and Royals.
ARod = one of the members of the Fighting 256th Squadron

that makes girardi major major major major
it’s scary how fast narratives take root. 5-1 after six games and the story becomes “team finds chemistry without alex”
If Spring Training is any indication of anything, then the Yankees seem to be prepared out of the game. Hopefully their April record reflects the amount of talent that they have on the team.
