  1. Bryan says:

Why are the Yankees so fucking susceptible to the big inning?

  2. Matt ACTY says:

    Well that sucked.

  3. Drew says:

I guess we should’ve ran Bobby a little more the past few years.

  4. Will says:

    Well that sucked.

  5. JobaWockeeZ says:

Hey at least the Sox are losing. 6-2

  6. Ayayay that was really, really fucking painful.

  7. Ivan says:

Yankees are still gonna win this game.

  8. JobaWockeeZ says:

As soon as the Angels go to the bullpen; we got this.

  9. Accent Shallow says:

And Weaver has settled down. Argh.

  10. John says:

    Lets score some muthafuckin runs

  11. Reggie C. says:

Jered Weaver looks settled in. We’re in trouble if this is a 1-2-3 inning.

God Posada. You. Are. Fucking. Slow.

  12. If anyone other than Posada had been running there…

  13. RollingWave says:

fuck the rain, if it weren’t for that bad bounce off Pena we’d still be leading by 2

  14. Accent Shallow says:

At least we clear the pitcher’s spot this inning.

  15. BigBlueAL says:

Weaver has been crusing since the Posada HR. He is a nice pitcher, but watching him pitch during his career made me wonder how he was so dominant in college. I mean he was amazing in college if Im not mistaken.

  16. V says:

Man, I wish they hadn’t started with a fastball down the pipe.

  17. What was worse than watching that half-inning?

Watching that half-inning on the Angels’ broadcast.

I despise the Angels. Biggest bandwagon fans. Ever.

  18. Evan says:

Someone should tell Brett Gardner to use his legs while hitting.

  19. Use your hands, Brett, slap the ball!

….man is there anything else in life that has as much innuendo?

  20. Steve in MN says:

    gritty walk there

  21. Evan says:

Swisher came out of the game and it’s been all down hill since. Coincidence?

  22. Drew says:

Are we really doing close ups of cleats? holy shit

  23. Evan says:

No reason Gardner isn’t attempting to steal here. Melky is swinging a hot bat, and if he gets thrown out, Melky leads off the inning. Terrible call by Girardi here.

  24. Reggie C. says:

I can already hear Steve Phillips: Joba should’ve pitched that high leverage situation. Joba to the pen!’!l

  25. BigBlueAL says:

Who is this young SP for the Angels going tomorrow?? Palmer I think is his name, good prospect or no??

  26. V says:

    I. Hate. Gary. Matthews. Jr.

  27. Can we get to the Angels’ bullpen? Please?

  28. RollingWave says:

damn, Abreu would have surely dropped that. or even Vlad.

  29. Matt M. says:

haha paulie…michael kay running to firstbase, helmet falls off, big old head floping don the sideline

  30. dkidd says:

pavano is pitching a 1 hitter

despite that, we’re winning this game

  31. Drew says:

Jose is painful for me to watch.

  32. V says:

Wtg Veras, leadoff walks are FUN!

  33. Veras is flat-out awful right now.

  34. Sal says:

    Veras sucks. Open ur eyes

  35. Evan says:

Is it not enough of a challenge to get the guys out 1, 2, 3? We have to put the first guy on base all the time, usually via walk.

  36. Matt M. says:

i was sure hoping that that melky pop fly would turn inot a yankee stadium home run :(

  37. Expired Milk says:

The lineup is so weak with Gardner instead of swisher

  38. Drew says:

How long are people going to defend Veras?

  39. Ivan says:

Personally I would left Melancon in the game but that’s just me.

  40. yankees=warriors says:

When is Veras going to be send down? ALWAYS walking people…

  41. BigBlueAL says:

This bullpen is just tough to watch because you have no clue what you are getting out of them game-by-game. Thats why it is so vital for the starters to pitch deep into the games.

  42. Evan says:

That would have been a nice call to get there. I feel like we haven’t gotten any of those calls this year.

  43. Reggie C. says:

    Any updates on Swish?

  44. Mike Axisa says:

You know what part of the bullpen problem is? There’s too many damn relievers out there. No one gets any consistent work, and only Mo has an idea of what kind of situation he’ll be used in.

  45. Drew says:

C’mon routine triple play, let’s go.

  46. Evan says:

This has the makings of an Izturis double…

  47. Ben C says:

    THROW

  48. Ben C says:

    STRIKES

  49. If he walks the bases loaded here I’m gonna give up and become a Pirates fan.

  50. Evan says:

    VERAS SUCKS!

  51. HOLY FUCK VERAS YOU SUCK

  52. JobaWockeeZ says:

Jesus, Swisher is 20 times a better pitcher than Jose Veras.

  53. Ivan says:

At least Veras didn’t walk him.

  54. Reggie C. says:

This game is gonna get blown open.

  55. V says:

Veras should be relegated to mopup duty until he figures it out.

  56. jonathan says:

    our pitching is aweful

  57. Ben C says:

why does the bullpen always seem to perform great in garbage innings and then blow in important innings

  58. jonathan says:

    oh wait awful

  59. Expired Milk says:

and boom is about to go the dynamite

  60. BigBlueAL says:

    I hate small ball.

  61. Mike Axisa says:

Thanks for the free out Scioscia. Retard.

  62. Evan says:

I hate watching Veras pitch because it seems that every count is 2-2 or 3-2. He RARELY has a clean inning.

  63. yankees=warriors says:

Why don’t we ever do this these days?

  64. Accent Shallow says:

    I really hate the Angels.

  65. Drew says:

How often does Veras not suck, I say 22% of the time.

  66. JobaWockeeZ says:

Our bullpen needs to actually do something. Veras is struggling, Albie is struggling, Mo is kinda struggling, Melancon isn’t doing to hot either. We can’t rely on just Coke and Bruney is injured.

  67. What I want to know is how the fuck Veras pitched three scoreless innings in that Oakland game.

  68. Accent Shallow says:

So what are the odds of Edwar getting out of this with the score intact? The Angels kill him.

  69. I think I am going to slit my wrists……vertically.

  70. Sal says:

Noooo who still wants veras here? Guy had one fucking good outing. He sucks

  71. BigBlueAL says:

Typical Angels, 12 hits all but 1 are singles. 3 sb’s and a squeeze play.

  72. yankees=warriors says:

    Edwar is no better…

  73. jonathan says:

Vote for Pedro for long man!!

  74. Drew says:

If we can put up 10 next half inning, we have a shot.

  75. V says:

    Walked on 4 pitches? Really?

  76. Ivan, we still winning tonight?

  77. BigBlueAL says:

Mathews SUCKS vs everybody else, but it seems vs the Yankees he freakin hits everything hard.

  78. yankees=warriors says:

When’s the last time Robertson pitched?

  79. jonathan says:

    OUR PITCHING BLOWS!!!

  80. Matt M. says:

a RF wearing #53 heading near…a wall? what a novel concept

  81. Accent Shallow says:

3 innings left to get 5 runs.

  82. Eirias says:

I don’t know how I didn’t notice it until now, but do we really still have to have Kate Smith sing in the 7th?

  83. Mike Axisa says:

The Yankees will bring the tying run to the plate in this game.

  84. Tom Zig says:

It seems like things always go bad in a hurry. Pettitte struggling, but making it through and then bam, we are now losing 9-4

  85. BigBlueAL says:

Whats worse is games like this is what will make Girardi overwork his starters to get through the 6th and 7th innings.

  86. Reggie C. says:

    sooo …

anybody have a quick review on Wolverine??

  87. Brett Gardner wishes he could hit like Ramiro Peña.

  88. yankees=warriors says:

    Wow!!! Baby face hitting?!

  89. Reggie C. says:

Pena is doing things at the plate that Gardner hasn’t done in a while.

  90. DCR says:

Where are the people who were full of smart ass remarks when I had the audacity to question the make up of the pen?

  91. Cap’n doing his best to kill the rally!

    • yankees=warriors says:

Yeah, it’s sad that whenever he comes to plate with man on 1st, the first thing that flashes across my mind is always DP…

  92. Watch Teixeira actually get on base now.

  93. Jamal G. says:

Mark Teixeira looks like he’s ready to break some ribs.

  94. BigBlueAL says:

If the warning track would be considered a HR, Tex would have 10 HR’s this season already.

  95. Ivan says:

Where’s Tex power? That’s like the 5 warning track out in like a weak.

  96. Andrew says:

John Sterling is still awful. Called that Tex warning track flyball like it was a Josh Hamilton-esque upper decker.

Tex, this isn’t Texas, you can’t give away a month of baseball. Get it together, you’re embarrassing yourself.

  97. Evan says:

Tex as so many baseball die at the wall. What the crap, start juicing!

    • yankees=warriors says:

      No HRs isn’t a problem.
      Not getting ANY hits IS.
His batting AVG. is dead last on the team right now and he’s our 3rd hitter!

      • Evan says:

True, I hope he is trying to do too much which is causing him to press. This can’t keep up for much longer. Girardi has to make a move eventually.

  98. Reggie C. says:

good sink on that pitch Edwar.

  99. Tom Zig says:

Well hopefully we can start hitting their bullpen.

  100. Tom Zig says:

I know Tex will heat up eventually. But he isn’t at the moment, should we move him down in the order?

  101. My mom just called and said the ETA on baby niecphew is 2 AM!!!

  102. Mark Teixeira Sucks says:

This fuck is somehow a worse yankee than arod

  103. Drew says:

    Cano don’t suck.

  104. yankees=warriors says:

If I were a pitcher, I wouldn’t want to face Cano right now, LOL!

  105. Mike Axisa says:

See, the Angels reliever allows two baserunners to start the innings, and bam, he’s taken out. Girardi leaves them in there until it’s too late.

    • Evan says:

And Girardi is supposed to be Mr. Conservative. He has cost us more than 1 loss this year and counting. Tonight wasn’t his fault but he could have kept this game at less than 9 runs.

    • BigBlueAL says:

What makes it worse is like you said, he has 8 relievers down there. If you are gonna have that many then use them all and have a short leash.

  106. Accent Shallow says:

Gardner needs to do something other than:

Strike out looking on a fastball down the pipe
    Pop up softly to LF

  107. Evan says:

Brett Gardner couldn’t hit a home run if he was swinging with an aluminum bat.

  108. Evan says:

    PH Molina!!!!

  109. Drew says:

Woohoo! Gardner FTW! He surprised me there.

  110. Evan says:

Melky is def swinging for the fences.

  111. Jamal G. says:

    Patience, Melky, patience.

  112. yankees=warriors says:

I wouldn’t bet on Melky being clutch every time…

  113. If ANYONE on the Yankees either a) strikes out, or b) is any sort of play that does NOT score a run or makes more outs than runs scored, I will quite possibly relinquish my fandom.

    Probably not, but possibly.

  114. Evan says:

Michael Kay has been drinking this game for sure.

  115. seanc says:

anyone else want to see a “typical” yankee offensive big inning? we sure need it.

  116. Drew says:

    How good is Melky? :)

  117. Mike Axisa says:

What did I say? Tying run to plate, bitches.

  118. Evan says:

    PH MOLINA

  119. yankees=warriors says:

Nice that Melky proved me wrong!
Too bad Posada was the one on second.

  120. BigBlueAL says:

Look at Melky with good piece of hitting!! If only the Yankees had someone to pinch-hit now, but hey they need to carry 13 pitchers.

  121. Accent Shallow says:

    Yay Melky!

  122. Drew says:

    This makes me fucking happy.

  123. yankees=warriors says:

    UNBELIEVABLE!!!

  124. Evan says:

PENA! Boy does Cody Ransom feel like a POS right now…

  125. Ramiro Peña is the FUCKING MAN!

  126. Mike Axisa says:

Shit … Arredondo’s on my fantasy team.

    • Accent Shallow says:

I’ll forgive you, since you did predict the Yankees would bring the tying run to the plate.

      Jeter is the lead run.

  127. Matt M. says:

RAMIRO freaking PENA!!!!!as mike wouild say

  128. Ivan says:

    LETS GO!!!!

  129. yankees=warriors says:

    Liking Pena more and more!!!

  130. BigBlueAL says:

Oh oh, runner on 1st with 1 out and Jeter is up….

  131. Mike Axisa says:

Here comes to the GIDP. I know it, you know it, Jeter knows it.

  132. BigBlueAL says:

    Well it wasnt a DP…

  133. Evan says:

    Who pitches the 8th?

  134. Drew says:

Tying run in scorig position! I’ll take it Jetes!

  135. The Evil Empire says:

Someone said Pena’s hit last night was the biggest in his career. “TAKE THAT!”

  136. Eirias says:

    Peña steals home?

  137. Ivan says:

iight Jeter gets a run in.

  138. BigBlueAL says:

    Why isnt Shields warming up????

  139. Eirias says:

Crap. I sat Weaver but forgot to sit Fuentes. Make this moot, please.

  140. V says:

I wish MLB were serious on its grading of umpires’ strike zones. Two inches off the strike zone is not a strike. Goddamnit.

  141. Jamal G. says:

What pitch was that? A two-seam changeup?

  142. Ivan says:

    Come on Damon

  143. Evan says:

On a side note, I was at the game last night and every inning they called out about 3 seats as some sponsored “upgrade” to go from their upper deck seats to the luxury boxes down the lines and behind HP. Look at the seats behind HP now, packed.

  144. Drew says:

    Fuckin pooter.

  145. Mike Axisa says:

    Too close to take, Johnny.

  146. yankees=warriors says:

    Damn…
But Tex gets another chance to prove his worth.

  147. BigBlueAL says:

    Fuck.

  148. Kevin G. says:

Teixeira game tying home-run next inning. Hopefully.

  149. dkidd says:

next inning, tex is going wind

    tie game!

  150. Will says:

    Albaladejo makes me nervous.

  151. Reggie C. says:

wish we had Juan Cruz right now.

  152. So tomorrow the plan is to go to the Yankee game then hop a subway and a cab to the hospital. Should be fun!

And fuck, Albaladejo better be pitching better.

  153. Ivan says:

Cano is playing like a top 10 player rite now.

  154. Drew says:

I love how Robbie is so happy all the time. Him and Melky are great for the clubhouse.

  155. Reggie C. says:

    cano’s defense is looking pedroia-ish

  156. Drew says:

    uno maas Albie

  157. Mike Axisa says:

Wow, beauty of a play by Albie.

  158. Drew says:

Somebody get this man a win!

  159. Jamal G. says:

    That was pimp.

    LET’S GO YANKEES!

  160. Evan says:

    WOOOOOW!

Looks like that was an “in the moment” call by the ump.

Finally WE got one of those calls.

  161. One run.

    Three outs.

    Let’s do this!

  162. dkidd says:

does marte even dress for games anymore?

  163. The Evil Empire says:

For good luck let’s count off.

Reply with a 2, then the next guy 3…

    1!

  164. V says:

Ok, I hate to say it, but I was ok losing 9-4. But they can NOT lose 9-8. That would suck too much.

  165. keith says:

    this shit can’t be healthy

  166. Matt ACTY says:

    Before Tex: Down by one.
    After Tex: Tie score.

    DO IT, DOUG!

  167. Ivan says:

Iight Tex, park this mothafuckin ball in the seats babi.

  168. Mike Axisa says:

A Cano walk-off would be all sorts of awesome.

  169. Evan says:

    COME ON TEXXXX

  170. Brazilian Yankee says:

Fuentes is not that good, right? We should be able to hit him..

  171. Mike HC says:

He has gotta just get on base

  172. Evan says:

I would take a leadoff walk from him right now.

  173. Jamal G. says:

    Love the patience by Tex.

    • Evan says:

That’s because he is a good hitter not just a power hitter. Even when he is struggling, he gets on base.

  174. Evan says:

    Walk-Off Chopsui

  175. dkidd says:

    fuentes throws like a girl

  176. yankees=warriors says:

    Get on base, Tex!

  177. Jamal G. says:

    LET’S GO YAN-KEES!

  178. Lady luck says:

    CLUTCH GODZILLLLLLLLLA!

  179. BigBlueAL says:

I’ll take the walk, but man Tex almost killed that 3-1 pitch.

  180. Ivan says:

Wow, Tex is a better OBP% guy than I thought.

  181. Eirias says:

Crap. Blown save, walks, hits and the loss for Fuentes. I now hate fantasy baseball.

  182. Mike Axisa says:

    We might have something here…

  183. Ivan says:

    Good hitting by Matsui.

  184. The Evil Empire says:

    WHEEW

  185. BigBlueAL says:

Oh God Gardner is 3 players away. PLEASE Cano or Jorgie tie this game up.

  186. Evan says:

    No pinch runner for Matsui?

  187. Mike HC says:

    Patience here Robbie

  188. yankees=warriors says:

Red Sox lost, so let’s do this!!!

  189. Ivan says:

Iight Cano, end this thing rite now.

  190. Cano for the win, right now.

  191. Marc says:

Walk off hit from Grit Grittner!!

  192. I am insanely nervous right now. Wish these guys could double steal.

  193. manimal says:

You know your a real fan when you don’t go to bed early since your team is down by 5 runs and you have fucking SAT’s the next day. Good thing I stayed up.

  194. Ivan says:

    Cano being patience.

  195. BigBlueAL says:

Cano looks so relaxed up there.

  196. [...] Confidence Poll « Game 23 Spillover Thread May [...]

  197. Oh fuck. Teixeira shouldda scored *mumblegrumblebear*

  198. Jamal G. says:

God dammit, Tex. God fucking cock-shit dammit!

  199. yankees=warriors says:

What?! Should have scored on that!!!!!

  200. Drew says:

Cano is a freaking beast dude.

  201. Mike HC says:

Not the best base running in the world there, but it is tough to complain with this rally

  202. OwlJolson says:

how don’t you score on that??????

  203. Evan says:

    Dude is LOCKED in.

  204. Ivan says:

Nice hitting by Cano. That pitch was a ball actually.

  205. manimal says:

Angels are really, REALLY missing K-rod.

  206. Marc says:

He sat back on that one and just hit it enough. Damn shame Tex couldn’t score, but there is NO reason we shouldn’t at least tie it up right here

  207. Matt ACTY says:

Jorge: I will never make fun of you for pissing on your hands again if you come through here. I promise.

  208. Even a DP would tie the game here…

  209. Jamal G. says:

    Squeezed, pendejo.

  210. Marc says:

We just need an outfield fly here

  211. Marc says:

We just need an outfield fly here

  212. Evan says:

    Fastball over the plate.

  213. daneptizl says:

    Win the bitch or GTFO.

  214. Eirias says:

Mike… where did you find the time to crank out tonight’s DotF?

  215. Ivan says:

    Po too anxious.

  216. OH MY FUCKING G-D!!!!!

Niecephew is gonna be born after the most awesome win of the season!

  217. Ivan says:

I told you guys were gonna win this fuckin game.

  218. BigBlueAL says:

    Fuck Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!

  219. Mike Axisa says:

That was kind of a big win.

  220. Evan says:

    YANKEES!!!!

  221. yankees=warriors says:

Best game so far this year!!!

  222. manimal says:

YEAH BABY. Man, Swisher really missed out.

  223. Mike HC says:

    No smiling Jorge!!!

  224. V says:

    [sarcasm]They have no guts.[/sarcasm]

  225. Longo says:

anybody else’s mlb.tv messing up? I’ve missed the whole 9th

  226. dkidd says:

the ghosts have arrived from across the street

  227. Marc says:

Posada is having an amazing year so far. We REALLY missed his bat last year!

  228. Accent Shallow says:

I hate the Angels. Love it!

  229. V says:

    [sarcasm]Fire Kevin Long.[/sarcasm]

  230. Evan says:

This looks like a completely different team than a week ago.

  231. BigBlueAL says:

    Fuentes = FAIL

  232. manimal says:

My dad in the 7th inning:”God forbid the yanks win 4 god damn games in a row”

  233. Jamal G. says:

LET’S GO YAN-KEES; CLAP, CLAP, CLAPCLAPCLAP; LET’S GO YAN-KEES; CLAP, CLAP, CLAPCLAPCLAP; LET’S GO YANKEES!!!!!!!

  234. Rich says:

I admit it. I doubted they would comeback.

  235. Marc says:

If they can just figure out this bullpen crap, they are really starting to come together. I can’t freaking wait for AROD to come back!

  236. yankees=warriors says:

This is what my screen name is all about!!!

  237. UpstateYankMan says:

Seeing Gardner on the on deck crcle made me throw up in my mouth a little bit but Jorge made the sick feeling go away !!!!
    Hip Hip Jorge !!!!

  238. Drew says:

That was so awesome. Gritner really kept that shit moving with that single. This is a hell of a team we have and it can only get better with Al and our bullpen arms pitching to their capabilities.

  239. seanc says:

Boston loss, Yankees win: great night.

  240. cuponoodles says:

The new Yankees can RAKE, baby!!! Cano for MVP?

  241. Drew says:

Gotta feel great for both Pettitte and Melancon here too.

  242. Blackdragon905 says:

    great win, great comeback!

  243. OrangeCountyYanker says:

Seeing Gardner on the on deck circle made me throw up in my mouth a little bit but Jorge made the sicking feeling go away.
    Hip Hip Jorge !!!!

  244. The Evil Empire says:

    Cano for MVP!

So we spend money on pitching this offseason and our bats are the ones doing all the talking.

  245. CP3 says:

this is going to be one helluva season!!

  246. Steve H says:

Too bad A-Rod’s going to come back and completely ruin all this momentum.

  247. Joey says:

I like the 6.04 runs/game line, offense is good

    • seanc says:

Agreed, but the 6.3/runs allowed per game (I divided runs allowed by games played) needs to come down.
