Weaver has been crusing since the Posada HR. He is a nice pitcher, but watching him pitch during his career made me wonder how he was so dominant in college. I mean he was amazing in college if Im not mistaken.

This bullpen is just tough to watch because you have no clue what you are getting out of them game-by-game. Thats why it is so vital for the starters to pitch deep into the games.

You know what part of the bullpen problem is? There’s too many damn relievers out there. No one gets any consistent work, and only Mo has an idea of what kind of situation he’ll be used in.

See, the Angels reliever allows two baserunners to start the innings, and bam, he’s taken out. Girardi leaves them in there until it’s too late.
And Girardi is supposed to be Mr. Conservative. He has cost us more than 1 loss this year and counting. Tonight wasn’t his fault but he could have kept this game at less than 9 runs.
What makes it worse is like you said, he has 8 relievers down there. If you are gonna have that many then use them all and have a short leash.
Gardner needs to do something other than:
Strike out looking on a fastball down the pipe
Pop up softly to LF

On a side note, I was at the game last night and every inning they called out about 3 seats as some sponsored “upgrade” to go from their upper deck seats to the luxury boxes down the lines and behind HP. Look at the seats behind HP now, packed.
That’s a pretty good marketing plan on the Yanks’ behalf. It makes the stadium crowded, and the sponsors end up paying for those seats anyways.
