It’s just plain embarrassing; I am taking a break from the game.

ill take an unclutch solo hr right about now

    • JobaWockeeZ

At this point any hitting is going to be defined clutch.

      • A.D.

Well anything that scores a run, they’re getting some guys on base.

  • Will

Lets all pray A-Rod reinvigorates this team.
    They’re all playing pathetically.

Too many cool features were added, it slows down the time to reload the page.

If I had a choice of cool features or longer threads. I’ll take the former.

could be worse. sox are losing to pavano

    • Andrew

Pavano pitched a good game against us, too. And that Sox team that is losing to Pavano has absolutely abused us this year. So no, that’s not a good example of how it “could be worse.”

  • pc69

I am afraid to say that the boys looks like they are going to hit a long losing streak. They could go into Baltimore with a 5 game losing streak and could lose 2 of 3 in Baltimore. Yikes.

    • JobaWockeeZ

A-Rod will come back and we’ll have one less black hole. Hopefully it’ enough for the O’s but hey you never know.

  • kingshaffy

This team is a joke. A complete and utter joke. Andy 7.00 ERA Sonnenstine. Pathetic. So scared of how far Longoria is going to hit the ball off Edwar

      Yep.

    • JobaWockeeZ

The Yankee fan base is more of a joke. Join in the Sox/Rays bandwagon.

      • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

        Gracias, mi amigo.

Yankee fans sound as knee jerk, fatalistic and irrational as Red Sox fans used to. They have no idea the rest of Baseball WISHES they had an A-Rod to lose for a month.

      • kingshaffy

I’m not saying “THE SEASON IS OVER” but this team is playing like garbage. How about a hit with 2 outs? This team is not mentally tough right now.

And maybe if i didn’t watch every minute of every game these performances wouldn’t bother me. So I don’t need a lecture from some ass clown who prob started rooting for the Yanks in 1998

        • JobaWockeeZ

LOL. If you’re a Yankee fan you’d know we suck in April. This isn’t surprising. How long you’ve been a fan for? 2000? Get your ass back to LoHud, we don’t want you.

          • kingshaffy

            You’re a loser.

      • kingshaffy

        lol…are you serious? kill yourself

  • guy

Still can’t figure out why our switch hitters are batting lefty against a guy who gives up 0.423 BA against righties.

    • A.D.

probably because they have a .000 AVG against righties batting right.

But I get what you’re saying, probably just real unnatural.

    • Steve H

Because that’s what switch hitters do. They never see RHP from the right hand side, they aren’t changing now.

      • guy

        Well. That makes sense. Duh.

        Although at this point …..

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Molina’s throwing hasn’t been nearly as good as it was last year.

    • A.D.

I was just thinking the same thing, in general he’s been less locked in defensively.

    • http://www.puristbleedspinstripes.com Aunt Becca-Optimist Prime

      I’ve noticed it too.

      Wonder if something’s up?

  • Drew

That should have been interference dude.

  • Jose

A stick of dynamite is more stable then this bullpen. We need to make the trades and make them now. We can’t make it to the playoffs if we start off this badly.

    • Evan

Tomko is in AAA and throwing solid. Why are these same guys who aren’t getting the job done being run out there day in and day out. They aren’t doing what we need them to do, time to give someone else a shot.

      • http://actyankee.blogspot.com Matt ACTY

Tomko is not on the 40-Man. I don’t think the Yankees are willing to DFA someone just to get Brett Tomko back in the Majors.

      • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

No, Girardi has it right. We need to get the guys we have on the roster going. Brett Tomko isn’t the answer.

    • Alex…*tries to think of better name*

can’t make it if we start slow? think ’98

      • Jose

The 1998 Yankees started off the first 27 games at 21-6. This team will be 13-14 after 27 games. How are they comparable? This is our bullpen’s fault. We should have signed K-rod.

        • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

          And traded for Putz.

          • http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/00mwbIM15ofMv/340x.jpg Mike Pop

Not going to lie, would of LOOOVVEED Kerry Wood in the pen.

    • Drew

      TEH Miranda for K-Rod!!1!

    • Will

Lets hear these outrageous trade ideas?

      • Tom Zig

Melky Mesa for Sizemore, Cliff Lee, and Rafael Perez. Lee can pitch the 8th, Perez the 7th.

      • http://9thinning.blogspot.com VO

NO PLEASE DON’T MAKE HIM SAY THEM AGAIN

      • Jose

They are only outrageous when I say them. But then when we get a 1.000 OPS guy in Swisher by getting rid of a horrible player, it suddenly a fair trade?

    • JobaWockeeZ

Totally right. Phil Hughes to the pen. IPK/Aceves/Melky/Albie for Zack Greinke. Joba to the pen.

  • Evan

1 ER by Edwar is an improvement.

  • Alex…*tries to think of better name*

Damn just got home to watch game.. one of those ugly ones where we get guys on base and then just can’t bring them in or has Sonnanstine really been pitching extraordinarily?

      • JobaWockeeZ

Uhmm Damon got a double last inning. And the inning before Teix got a hit and Matsui got a double. If we scored them it’d be 3-3.

  • Danimal

how the heck do we not hit a guy who throws 87? really?

Even without Arod we should be doing much better, without him we still have a better lineup than half of baseball. It’s time to stop blaming pitching for losses like these. 3 runs allowed is normal. 0 runs scored is not normal.

Tex has got to finally wake up, it’s 27 games into the season. How long do you need to heat up? JoeG should think about taking him out of the 3 hole aka ‘The Black Hole’

    • Will

      So insightful.

    • Evan

Girardi is afraid of hurting his feelings. 0-18 with RISP isn’t enough proof that maybe it’s time to drop him in the order.

    • http://actyankee.blogspot.com Matt ACTY

Jamie Moyer throws like…45 MPH and guys still have trouble hitting him. Velocity =/= good.

Don’t get me wrong, Andy Sonnanstine is no Jamie Moyer but still. Shit happens.

  • Accent Shallow

I seem to remember Edwar having a harder fastball than 87. Clearly doesn’t matter here, though.

    Wooo.

    • Will

Yeah, but I still dont think he ever had great velocity. Remember Kevin Millar ripping on him last year? Saying how easy he was to hit.

      • pat

And it turns out millar was actually like 1-5 against him, yea moral of the story Millar is an everlasting douche.

      • Accent Shallow

I thought he was more 89-91. Still, with that change, he can get anyone out.

    • http://actyankee.blogspot.com Matt ACTY

When his changeup is still 10 MPH less than his FB, it’s all good.

  • Tom Zig

Edwar got out of the jam, lets pick him up.

Great job by Edwar. He gave up the leadoff hit, I’d sign up for that over a walk any day. Great job..

Ever since Cano has gone cold and Swish has cooled down, our offense has sucked. Oh and losing Posada hurts a lot too.

  • Drew

    Cue the extra base hit.

  • Evan

I still think that Matsui should be moved to the 3 hole. Tex has shown no signs of turning it around. He had 2 solo shots the other night, fine. But nothing on a consistent basis and surely nothing with men in scoring position.

  • Brooklyn Ed

    Swisher is pissed.

hopefully that will fired up the team.

    • Evan

Things that should have fired up the team:

      1. Girardi getting tossed the other day
      2. Being 0-5 against the Red Sox so far
      3. Closed door meeting today
      4. Swisher getting tossed

      Any more?

    Oh, Nick.

  • Drew

After Swish turned around I wish Girardi would have ran out there like he did for Jeter..

  • Evan

With Gardner in the lineup, we have to have the best batting order in baseball. Gardner, Melky, Pena, Molina. Strikes fear into any opposition.

  • JobaWockeeZ

I see Swisher’s logic! When Girardi got thrown out we got back to back homers. And sicne Swisher can do anything I think we’re up for a big inning.

  • pc69

This is in no way an excuse for how poorly the Yankees hitting has become, but the umpiring YTD has been very bad. First with the Boston series and now with this guy tonight. Something has to be done, but it won’t because the umpires are infallible and not subject to disciplinary action for poor showings – seriously who cares if you don’t get picked for a 5 game first round playoff, by then you have already done your damage.

      Jerry Manuel. Nuff said?

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Well, it’s a 1-0 game in the 7th inning. He was at 101 pitches, and there were two men on. Putz and K-Rod get paid the big bucks for a reason.

      • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

and if Putz and K-Rod get 9 outs, it was a smart move. If they don;t do their jobs, then Manuel’s an over managing idiot.

BP throwing back to back scoreless innings?

    • Evan

Maybe we can get one piece in place at a time. Starting Pitching has been good the last 2 nights, BP may be turning a corner *crosses fingers*, ARod returning to the offense on Friday. Maybe we get Nady, Bruney, A good Marte and Posada back by mid June and we are rolling…

      honestly, stop complaining about EVERYTHING.

    • JobaWockeeZ

You think you’re smarter than Girardi or Cashman? Oh look Albie got a 1-2-3 inning. And plus we had a great nech but it was plagued with injuries. We’re not going to have a backup plan for a backup plan for a backup plan.

I have not seen a Yankee team look this lost in quite a while. But of even more concern is that there are no answers. ARod coming back will not be an instant solution, might help, but there are so many holes on this team that you have to wonder what has become of Cashman’s plan to build a winner. Granted, he is really only 2 years into it but it seems that the evaluation of talent is a huge negative for the Yankees.

I can’t tell if this is tongue-in-cheek or not.

    • Will

Go back to LoHud and rant there.

  • Evan

Wish we could PH right now…

  • Drew

PH with Frankie Cervelli!! Okay.. Just kidding

  • dkidd

    come on jose

  • pc69

Tell you what, while his hitting is lacking, I sure like this Pena. Could end up being a nice replacement for Jeter.

    • Evan

Don’t hold your breath. He has 0 power.

    • http://actyankee.blogspot.com Matt ACTY

      No.

    • Yankee1010

As the regular SS? God, I hope not.

      • pc69

Not as a permanent solution but when Jeter needs days off. Which he will. As for his power, right now he is right in line with the rest of the power hitting Yankees.

  • http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/00mwbIM15ofMv/340x.jpg Mike Pop

    Aww, Bruney.

  • KW

    atta boy pena

  • Reggie C.

    molina you teasing basterd.

  • pat

I know we’ve looked like shit so far but were really not that far outta this.

  • Drew

Wow, wasn’t expecting that!! Yay! C’mon Jetes

  • dkidd

    come on derek!!!

  • KW

    hava molina!

  • http://www.puristbleedspinstripes.com Aunt Becca-Optimist Prime

    Hava Molina!

  • kingshaffy

F a replacement for Jeter, we need El Capitan to deliver a 3 run homer here…

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

    Signs of life.

    • Evan

Would you rather have them lose 3-0 or lose 3-2 with the winning run on 2B?

  • JobaWockeeZ

    I’m holding my breath.

  • A.D.

See the Yanks just need to keep guys out of scoring position.

  • Evan

Why does this team do this EVERY GAME! They mount a come back in the last innings only to fall short by a run or two. I’m sure it will come to Tex this inning with men on and he will K looking, per the trend.

    • Tom Zig

I understand your pessimism, but chill out.

      • Evan

        I’m perfectly calm dude.

        • JobaWockeeZ

Yeah if that isn’t calm, then what’s a lot of these other comments including my rants?

    • pat

      Yeah that was a K

      • pat

        wrong spot.

      • Evan

It’s a trend going around the clubhouse. Kinda like Swine Flu…too early?

  • Accent Shallow

Hey, tying run to the plate.

  • Matt-Pitt

Boy, this team needs the Cap’n to step up huge right here

  • kingshaffy

what was with that update on Bruney? Could they have been more vague about his return?

  • dkidd

good news is it’s extremely difficult to ground into a 6-4-3 with men at 2nd and 3rd

  • http://actyankee.blogspot.com Matt ACTY

I’m a sucker for these Bill Kurtis AT&T ads.

  • Evan

I hate how they do the player of the game in the 8th inning.

    • http://actyankee.blogspot.com Matt ACTY

      Most important inning.

    • JobaWockeeZ

      8th >>>>>> Every other inning

  • http://www.puristbleedspinstripes.com Aunt Becca-Optimist Prime

Michael Kay does not know what a Pyrrhic vicotry is.

  • Drew

    What’s happ’n Cap’n!

  • Alex…*tries to think of better name*

meh are we over-blowing this recent losing skid? I know it has been excruciating and all, but just last week, we were up in arms over that comeback against the Angels, praising the team’s fight and everything.

  • Evan

Just get 1 home, let Johnny hit a dinger to the short porch.

  • pc69

I am looking for a little Captain Crunch time..

  • Arman Tamzarian

So Kay said we got some bad news about Bruney, then my compter froze just as he was saying it, what happened?

    • JobaWockeeZ

Not anything at all. He didn’t not specify at all. We only got he is not coming back after the 15 days.

    • Drew

Won’t be back for at least 2 weeks.

    • A.D.

He’s beginning to soft toss now, so the timeline for return is pushed back.

  • Pete

Man, those 7 people behind the plate are STOKED!!!

    • dkidd

      IETC

  • Jose

Why not bunt here? Sometimes the Yankees just go for a big inning instead of playing the game the right way.

    • Yankee1010

Because they’re down by 3 runs and it’s the 8th inning.

      • Jose

But now they got 0 runs out of the inning and Jeter still got out.

    • Alex…*tries to think of better name*

what would bunting have done that a grounder to the IF or flyball to OF would not have done, not to mention the dead runner from 3rd if Jeter were to miss the bunt.

    • JobaWockeeZ

Bunts are rarely good. I read an article it is only helping 1 out of 10 times it is used.

  • teix is the man

if we don’t get at least one run i will go ape shit

  • Drew

    Is Mariano hurt?

    • http://9thinning.blogspot.com VO

I don’t know, but you would wonder that. When was the last time he pitched?

      • http://9thinning.blogspot.com VO

      Beat me.

  • Alex…*tries to think of better name*

    fuck

  • Matt-Pitt

Why isn’t our offense at least swinging at these close pitches? You can’t just sit there and take that.

  • Pete

    How …

    do…
    you…

    look …

    at…

    that …

    pitch?

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

. . .or the one before it.

He obviously had trouble picking him up and/or his ball was really moving.

  • Evan

Best thing to do with RISP is not swing. Must have gotten into Tex’s game notes.

  • dkidd

    damon walk
    tex home run

what is it with this team and striking out looking

  • Drew

    At least JD is up.

  • Matt-Pitt

Now would be a good time for that Johnny Damon 3 run homerun… Seems to be the trend lately with him.

  • Dan S

    Wheeler’s era was 7.00

    • A.D.

All the runs came in two outings, otherwise the other 8 (now 9) have been good.

Why do I have a feeling Maddons mixing and match will work out.

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

That was a horrible AB by Jeter.

  • Pete

I think I’ll be up for a bottle of Chivas in about 4 outs.

  • kingshaffy

Unreal…where was a “jeterian” swing to right field?

  • Drew

Wow, Swish getting tossed my hurt us next inning.

  • JobaWockeeZ

Bases loaded hopefully with Teix on deck.
    *starts kissing Teix shirt*

The bases are loaded for the one guy that’s got a Mendoza line average.

    Lovely.

I love you Teix. My fav Yankee hitter next to A-Rod. I hope you see this and not let me down before the AB.

  • Spaceman.Spiff

Okay Tex. Chance to earn your True Yankee stripes.

  • pc69

Well, paycheck time. Someone needs to tell Tex, SINGLE, SINGLE, SINGLE SINGLE…. Anything else is a gift.

    • Doreen Gallotti

Absolutely. Or maybe a double? :)

  • Evan

This has turning point potential…no pressure.

  • Tom Zig

Tex, just don’t make an out and I’ll be happy.

  • Pete

Can we set up a chat room or something at some point? This site is a huge dog on game nights..
