    apparently, mike. apparently.

  2. John says:

    damn it tex

  3. It’s just plain embarrassing; I am taking a break from the game.

  4. donttradecano says:

ill take an unclutch solo hr right about now

  5. Will says:

Lets all pray A-Rod reinvigorates this team.
    They’re all playing pathetically.

  6. Mike Pop says:

EdwaR!! You turn it around right now.

  7. Drew says:

It seems like we are getting less and less mileage out of each thread. What happened to the days of a 500 comment thread? We’re going to the pen way too early. ;)

  8. dkidd says:

could be worse. sox are losing to pavano

    • Andrew says:

Pavano pitched a good game against us, too. And that Sox team that is losing to Pavano has absolutely abused us this year. So no, that’s not a good example of how it “could be worse.”

  9. The Artist says:

Béisbol puede ser un juego muy frustrante.

  10. Tom Zig says:

We have .254 BA with RISP. That’s higher than I thought it would be.

  11. pc69 says:

I am afraid to say that the boys looks like they are going to hit a long losing streak. They could go into Baltimore with a 5 game losing streak and could lose 2 of 3 in Baltimore. Yikes.

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

A-Rod will come back and we’ll have one less black hole. Hopefully it’ enough for the O’s but hey you never know.

  12. kingshaffy says:

This team is a joke. A complete and utter joke. Andy 7.00 ERA Sonnenstine. Pathetic. So scared of how far Longoria is going to hit the ball off Edwar

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

The Yankee fan base is more of a joke. Join in the Sox/Rays bandwagon.

      • The Artist says:

        Gracias, mi amigo.

Yankee fans sound as knee jerk, fatalistic and irrational as Red Sox fans used to. They have no idea the rest of Baseball WISHES they had an A-Rod to lose for a month.

      • kingshaffy says:

I’m not saying “THE SEASON IS OVER” but this team is playing like garbage. How about a hit with 2 outs? This team is not mentally tough right now.

And maybe if i didn’t watch every minute of every game these performances wouldn’t bother me. So I don’t need a lecture from some ass clown who prob started rooting for the Yanks in 1998

        • JobaWockeeZ says:

LOL. If you’re a Yankee fan you’d know we suck in April. This isn’t surprising. How long you’ve been a fan for? 2000? Get your ass back to LoHud, we don’t want you.

        • JobaWockeeZ says:

Oh and dude if you consider a line a lecture you must be like 4. Typical LoHuddian.

    • pat says:

      go back to lohud.

  13. guy says:

Still can’t figure out why our switch hitters are batting lefty against a guy who gives up 0.423 BA against righties.

    • A.D. says:

probably because they have a .000 AVG against righties batting right.

But I get what you’re saying, probably just real unnatural.

    • Steve H says:

Because that’s what switch hitters do. They never see RHP from the right hand side, they aren’t changing now.

  14. Mike Axisa says:

Molina’s throwing hasn’t been nearly as good as it was last year.

  15. Drew says:

That should have been interference dude.

  16. Jose says:

A stick of dynamite is more stable then this bullpen. We need to make the trades and make them now. We can’t make it to the playoffs if we start off this badly.

  17. Evan says:

1 ER by Edwar is an improvement.

  18. Alex...*tries to think of better name* says:

Damn just got home to watch game.. one of those ugly ones where we get guys on base and then just can’t bring them in or has Sonnanstine really been pitching extraordinarily?

  19. Reggie C. says:

Yanks getting schooled on how to score runs.

  20. Matt ACTY says:

Just thought I’d share this with you guys:

When I sat down to my final today (incidentally wearing my Joba t-shirt jersey), I patted the NY and said “Mo give me strength.”

    • Drew says:

How do you think it worked out? Perhaps I will do the same before my final tomorrow. Come to think about it, I’ll wear a Yankee shirt before my interview tomorrow too.

    • Alex...*tries to think of better name* says:

haha I have the same rituals. In middle school to high school,I had a Lou Gehrig like streak. I wore a Yankee shirt to school every day for about four straight years.

  21. Evan says:

Alright, no worries. We have J. Albs warming up.

  22. pat says:

    In other news dellin went 6ip 1er 1bb 4k

  23. dkidd says:

    huge K!

    come on edwar

  24. Danimal says:

how the heck do we not hit a guy who throws 87? really?

Even without Arod we should be doing much better, without him we still have a better lineup than half of baseball. It’s time to stop blaming pitching for losses like these. 3 runs allowed is normal. 0 runs scored is not normal.

Tex has got to finally wake up, it’s 27 games into the season. How long do you need to heat up? JoeG should think about taking him out of the 3 hole aka ‘The Black Hole’

    • Will says:

      So insightful.

    • Evan says:

Girardi is afraid of hurting his feelings. 0-18 with RISP isn’t enough proof that maybe it’s time to drop him in the order.

    • Matt ACTY says:

Jamie Moyer throws like…45 MPH and guys still have trouble hitting him. Velocity =/= good.

Don’t get me wrong, Andy Sonnanstine is no Jamie Moyer but still. Shit happens.

  25. …Edwar pitched a scoreless inning?

    Seriously?

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

But he still gave up a hit! He sucks and our bullpen is the new 2008 Mets bullpen. Fire Cashman! We need trades nao!

  26. Evan says:

Anyone know when the Yankees started doing God Bless America? Was it always?

  27. dkidd says:

    9 out left

    let’s win this

  28. Accent Shallow says:

I seem to remember Edwar having a harder fastball than 87. Clearly doesn’t matter here, though.

    Wooo.

    • Will says:

Yeah, but I still dont think he ever had great velocity. Remember Kevin Millar ripping on him last year? Saying how easy he was to hit.

      • pat says:

And it turns out millar was actually like 1-5 against him, yea moral of the story Millar is an everlasting douche.

      • Accent Shallow says:

I thought he was more 89-91. Still, with that change, he can get anyone out.

    • Matt ACTY says:

When his changeup is still 10 MPH less than his FB, it’s all good.

  29. Tom Zig says:

Edwar got out of the jam, lets pick him up.

  30. Drew says:

Great job by Edwar. He gave up the leadoff hit, I’d sign up for that over a walk any day. Great job..

    • Alex...*tries to think of better name* says:

yep and it was also a little infield doinker.

  31. Reggie C. says:

    Man …

    Santana was dealing tonight …

  32. Mike Pop says:

    Andy Sonnastine – Yankees killer.

    • Doreen Gallotti says:

What’s the difference though? He’d still get no run support, right?

  33. Mike Axisa says:

This game has CG SO with >100 pitches for Sonnanstine written all over it.

  34. A.D. says:

    damn glove

  35. Spaceman.Spiff says:

We are due for a big inning. Please.

  36. Doreen Gallotti says:

Kinda get that feeling – when things are going wrong, everything goes wrong. Just have to wait this out. It will turn around. The pendulum will swing the other way.

  37. John says:

Ever since Cano has gone cold and Swish has cooled down, our offense has sucked. Oh and losing Posada hurts a lot too.

  38. Drew says:

    Cue the extra base hit.

  39. Evan says:

I still think that Matsui should be moved to the 3 hole. Tex has shown no signs of turning it around. He had 2 solo shots the other night, fine. But nothing on a consistent basis and surely nothing with men in scoring position.

  40. Mike Pop says:

    Swish lose his temper?

  41. Brooklyn Ed says:

    Swisher is pissed.

hopefully that will fired up the team.

    • Evan says:

Things that should have fired up the team:

      1. Girardi getting tossed the other day
      2. Being 0-5 against the Red Sox so far
      3. Closed door meeting today
      4. Swisher getting tossed

      Any more?

      • Steve in MN says:

        5. Getting paid millions of dollars to play baseball.
        6. Wearing the pinstripes everyday.

      • Alex...*tries to think of better name* says:

1a. playing baseball with the Yankees for a living.

  42. Alex...*tries to think of better name* says:

    o c’mon Swish don’t do that.

  43. A.D. says:

Swish wanted Gardner to get some playing time

  44. Reggie C. says:

I called it last night. Yanks will not be at .500 when Arod gets back.

  45. Uncle Ellsworth says:

nice to know this place is here.

    Sonnenstein really? really?

  46. Drew says:

After Swish turned around I wish Girardi would have ran out there like he did for Jeter..

  47. Evan says:

With Gardner in the lineup, we have to have the best batting order in baseball. Gardner, Melky, Pena, Molina. Strikes fear into any opposition.

  48. JobaWockeeZ says:

I see Swisher’s logic! When Girardi got thrown out we got back to back homers. And sicne Swisher can do anything I think we’re up for a big inning.

  49. pc69 says:

This is in no way an excuse for how poorly the Yankees hitting has become, but the umpiring YTD has been very bad. First with the Boston series and now with this guy tonight. Something has to be done, but it won’t because the umpires are infallible and not subject to disciplinary action for poor showings – seriously who cares if you don’t get picked for a 5 game first round playoff, by then you have already done your damage.

  50. Andrew says:

A new low for this collection of losers. Jesus… has it really come to this?

  51. Jose says:

Who will pitch the last two innings now that Swisher got ejected?

  52. Mike Pop says:

Why did Jerry Manuel take Santana out?

  53. Nick says:

you know the umps are making bad calls when Swish gets thrown out and jeter almost gets thrown out, terrible calls all week long

  54. John says:

that did look like a ball

  55. Dave M says:

I’m glad I didn’t waste my money to get Direct TV so I can watch this crap.

  56. dkidd says:

if the mets blow another win for johan, i will smile

  57. Matt ACTY says:

How many pitches did Edwar have?

    • The Artist says:

Matt, do you really want to push your luck with these guys? He could just as easily lose it between inning as someone else can coming in from the pen.

  58. pat says:

Swish must have called the guy a cocksucker.

  59. JobaWockeeZ says:

Robots. Please. Anyone other than a human calling strike’s and ball’s.

  60. Will says:

At least its 7-2 Indians at Fenway.

  61. cjc says:

This team makes guys with 6+ era’s look like Cy friggin Young what a damn disgrace Palmer now Sonnenstein same old yankees awful now the BP will give up afew tack ons and this game will be out of reach

    UNWATCHABLE

  62. John says:

at least our bullpen ace is pitching again

  63. Expired Milk says:

Seriously I mean a 5+ era pitcher going 7 shutout innings. I’m getting real tired of this.

  64. dkidd says:

    robbie makes everything look easy

  65. Man the frustration is really starting to build, isn’t it?

  66. kingshaffy says:

stop complaining, this is just a great performance by a legendary pitcher. if you don’t think so go back to lohud.

  67. VO says:

Oh what a play by Pena. <—- That’s what Kay would have said if the opposing team made the play.

  68. Evan says:

Even the Mets are winning. Shit.

  69. A.D. says:

Swish had an absolute point, that pitch was a ball, but not a relative one, the ump was giving that pitch off the plate to both pitchers.

You could tell he was pissed on an at-bat earlier when he K’ed so it was coming.

  70. Drew says:

We need some Frickin Laser Beams or something.

  71. Evan says:

BP throwing back to back scoreless innings?

    • Evan says:

Maybe we can get one piece in place at a time. Starting Pitching has been good the last 2 nights, BP may be turning a corner *crosses fingers*, ARod returning to the offense on Friday. Maybe we get Nady, Bruney, A good Marte and Posada back by mid June and we are rolling…

    • John says:

but everything never clicks at once for us, today our O is sluggish.

    • A.D. says:

Amazing what happens when they throw some strikes.

  72. Matt ACTY says:

Two scoreless innings from Albie and Edwar? Damn. I’m pleasantly surprised. :)

  73. tampayankee says:

Wow Clueless Joe again changing pitchers for no reason. Why is Johnny A out there? Wasn’t Rameriz actually on tonight, they may get lucky this time. The Bench now consist of Cervelli and Berroa, I guess no pinch hitters in this game, good personal moves Cashman.

    • Will says:

      honestly, stop complaining about EVERYTHING.

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

You think you’re smarter than Girardi or Cashman? Oh look Albie got a 1-2-3 inning. And plus we had a great nech but it was plagued with injuries. We’re not going to have a backup plan for a backup plan for a backup plan.

  74. cjc says:

now maybe they can get a flipping hit

  75. pc69 says:

I have not seen a Yankee team look this lost in quite a while. But of even more concern is that there are no answers. ARod coming back will not be an instant solution, might help, but there are so many holes on this team that you have to wonder what has become of Cashman’s plan to build a winner. Granted, he is really only 2 years into it but it seems that the evaluation of talent is a huge negative for the Yankees.

  76. Evan says:

2-10 (11?) in games we make an error…

  77. Ivan says:

    This game is boring me.

  78. tampayankee says:

Would be nice if someone bunted or stole a base to maybe make a run…Like the Devil Dogs are tonight.

  79. Jose says:

They should fire Girardi. Replace upper management with Hank Stenbrenner. We need management like the Red Sox, they know how to win. The players there try, the players here cash their checks and go to sleep in the field. The offense needs a Manny Ramirez not a Mark Texeria.

  80. Evan says:

Wish we could PH right now…

  81. Drew says:

PH with Frankie Cervelli!! Okay.. Just kidding

  82. dkidd says:

    come on jose

  83. pc69 says:

Tell you what, while his hitting is lacking, I sure like this Pena. Could end up being a nice replacement for Jeter.

  84. Mike Pop says:

    Aww, Bruney.

  85. KW says:

    atta boy pena

  86. Reggie C. says:

    molina you teasing basterd.

  87. pat says:

I know we’ve looked like shit so far but were really not that far outta this.

  88. Drew says:

Wow, wasn’t expecting that!! Yay! C’mon Jetes

  89. dkidd says:

    come on derek!!!

  90. KW says:

    hava molina!

  91. kingshaffy says:

F a replacement for Jeter, we need El Capitan to deliver a 3 run homer here…

  92. Mike Axisa says:

    Signs of life.

  93. JobaWockeeZ says:

    I’m holding my breath.

  94. A.D. says:

See the Yanks just need to keep guys out of scoring position.

  95. Evan says:

Why does this team do this EVERY GAME! They mount a come back in the last innings only to fall short by a run or two. I’m sure it will come to Tex this inning with men on and he will K looking, per the trend.

  96. Accent Shallow says:

Hey, tying run to the plate.

  97. Matt-Pitt says:

Boy, this team needs the Cap’n to step up huge right here

  98. kingshaffy says:

what was with that update on Bruney? Could they have been more vague about his return?

  99. dkidd says:

good news is it’s extremely difficult to ground into a 6-4-3 with men at 2nd and 3rd

  100. Matt ACTY says:

I’m a sucker for these Bill Kurtis AT&T ads.

  101. Evan says:

I hate how they do the player of the game in the 8th inning.

  102. Michael Kay does not know what a Pyrrhic vicotry is.

  103. Drew says:

    What’s happ’n Cap’n!

  104. Alex...*tries to think of better name* says:

meh are we over-blowing this recent losing skid? I know it has been excruciating and all, but just last week, we were up in arms over that comeback against the Angels, praising the team’s fight and everything.

  105. Evan says:

Just get 1 home, let Johnny hit a dinger to the short porch.

  106. pc69 says:

I am looking for a little Captain Crunch time..

  107. Arman Tamzarian says:

So Kay said we got some bad news about Bruney, then my compter froze just as he was saying it, what happened?

  108. Pete says:

Man, those 7 people behind the plate are STOKED!!!

  109. Jose says:

Why not bunt here? Sometimes the Yankees just go for a big inning instead of playing the game the right way.

    • Yankee1010 says:

Because they’re down by 3 runs and it’s the 8th inning.

    • Alex...*tries to think of better name* says:

what would bunting have done that a grounder to the IF or flyball to OF would not have done, not to mention the dead runner from 3rd if Jeter were to miss the bunt.

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

Bunts are rarely good. I read an article it is only helping 1 out of 10 times it is used.

  110. teix is the man says:

if we don’t get at least one run i will go ape shit

  111. Drew says:

    Is Mariano hurt?

  112. A.D. says:

    WTF was Jeter looking for?

  113. Alex...*tries to think of better name* says:

    fuck

  114. Matt-Pitt says:

Why isn’t our offense at least swinging at these close pitches? You can’t just sit there and take that.

  115. Pete says:

    How …

    do…
    you…

    look …

    at…

    that …

    pitch?

  116. Evan says:

Best thing to do with RISP is not swing. Must have gotten into Tex’s game notes.

  117. dkidd says:

    damon walk
    tex home run

  118. Mike Pop says:

DEREK STOP FUCKING DOING THAT HOLY FUCK YOU PIECE OF SHIT

    Sorry for caps.

  119. teix is the man says:

    please….just one run

  120. cjc says:

    @!#@$!@$!#@$!@#!@#!@!@$!#@!#@$!$$$^!@!@!&@^^*!&@!

what is it with this team and striking out looking

  121. Drew says:

    At least JD is up.

  122. Matt-Pitt says:

Now would be a good time for that Johnny Damon 3 run homerun… Seems to be the trend lately with him.

  123. Dan S says:

    Wheeler’s era was 7.00

    • A.D. says:

All the runs came in two outings, otherwise the other 8 (now 9) have been good.

  124. Expired Milk says:

Why do I have a feeling Maddons mixing and match will work out.

  125. The Artist says:

That was a horrible AB by Jeter.

  126. Pete says:

I think I’ll be up for a bottle of Chivas in about 4 outs.

  127. kingshaffy says:

Unreal…where was a “jeterian” swing to right field?

  128. Drew says:

Wow, Swish getting tossed my hurt us next inning.

  129. JobaWockeeZ says:

Bases loaded hopefully with Teix on deck.
    *starts kissing Teix shirt*

  130. A.D. says:

    groove one please

  131. Evan says:

Come on TEX! Please let me be wrong about your looking K.

  132. Matt-Pitt says:

Teix.. This is your moment man.

  133. Drew says:

Giambian GS for Teix in the rain!??

  134. The Artist says:

Here it is, the moment when .. . ..ah fuck. Kay just said it.

  135. pat says:

Come on mark you just need a base knock dude.

  136. Pete says:

That’s it, put on the Paul O’Neill music, get all our hopes up.

  137. The bases are loaded for the one guy that’s got a Mendoza line average.

    Lovely.

  138. Matt ACTY says:

The crowd better be chanting Tex’s name right now. COME ON, MARK!

  139. Mike Pop says:

I love you Teix. My fav Yankee hitter next to A-Rod. I hope you see this and not let me down before the AB.

  140. Spaceman.Spiff says:

Okay Tex. Chance to earn your True Yankee stripes.

  141. pc69 says:

Well, paycheck time. Someone needs to tell Tex, SINGLE, SINGLE, SINGLE SINGLE…. Anything else is a gift.

  142. Evan says:

This has turning point potential…no pressure.

  143. Tom Zig says:

Tex, just don’t make an out and I’ll be happy.

  144. Pete says:

Can we set up a chat room or something at some point? This site is a huge dog on game nights..

  145. pat says:

kay just shut the fuck up please.

  146. Raf says:

    Kay…STFU

  147. A.D. says:

    Kay, stop setting a scene.

  148. dkidd says:

    and the heavens open

    awesome drama

  149. Drew says:

How can you run for cover!

  150. Pete says:

He lost the grip. They’re going to pull everyone off if Tex doesn’t make out.

  151. Evan says:

    I’ll take a WP here.

  152. Mike Pop says:

    WILD PITCH FTW!!

  153. KW says:

this is unreal, they need to put the tarp ont he field!

  154. Tony says:

You are a Yankee now, my son.

    Texxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  155. Raf says:

    fuck yea!!!!

  156. VO says:

    YEESSSSS TEIXEIRA!!!1

  157. dkidd says:

    tex!!!!!!

  158. The Artist says:

    YYYYYEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!

  159. Alex S says:

    TIE GAME! i”ll take it

  160. Drew says:

I JUST JIZZED IN MY PANTS!!!

  161. Welcome to the Yankees, Mark Teixeira

  162. TC says:

    Hell yeah!

  163. Nady Nation says:

    TEXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  164. A.D. says:

    M-I-R-A-C-L-E

  165. Spaceman.Spiff says:

    True Yankee status.

  166. JobaWockeeZ says:

I debated this morning to wear my Teix shirt. I’m glad i DId.

  167. Mike Pop says:

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  168. manimal says:

Ladies and Gentlemen, that is what 180 million dollers looks like.

  169. iowa yank says:

    TEX!

  170. KW says:

you know whats funny, that wasnt a great swing by tex. it just happened to work. go yanks

  171. Evan says:

Not as dramatic as Giambi, but certainly effective.

  172. Tom Zig says:

    Thank you!

  173. Matt ACTY says:

All of you who talked shit on Tex for the game should just come forward and apologize right now. And STFU for the future.

  174. BigBlueAL says:

I got home just in time!!! Damon can still run….

  175. Pete says:

Are you kidding me Maddon? Are you TRYING to make all your players catch pneumonia?

  176. Ivan says:

Thats wat the fuck im talkin about Tex.

  177. pc69 says:

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

Now that was hitting. Not trying to do too much, just getting a hit.

Memo to other Yankee hitters, See Tex hit a double = Just as good as a HR.

  178. Doreen Gallotti says:

    The drama!!!!

  179. Mike Pop says:

    OH’s noes!!

    Teix just in time.

  180. donttradecano says:

    WHY RAIN WHY

  181. cjc says:

    he got his moment
