UGGGGH Chris Berman and Orel Hersheiser are HORRIBLE. Why is Berman calling ANY games?
Have you considered the Miller/Morgan/Phillips three-headed monster alternative? This is mostly harmless.
Morgan occasionally says something halfway intelligent, Berman adds absolutely nothing to the analysis of any game.
Morgan is good when he takes you inside the game. Puts you in the shoes of the hitter/fielder and shows you the little things that go on at the big league level.
But if you want him to be up on your team and know what he’s talking about, that’s just not happening. That doesn;t bother me though. I dont expect national guys to know my team like I do. They can’t be expected to watch every team every day, so I don’t let those off base statements he makes bother me. Just call a good game and don’t intrude too much like McCarver and I’ll be happy.
I actually take the OPPOSITE approach. When any national broadcaster actually gets some detail about my team RIGHT, I consider it to be gravy.

I think Pena might be on this team for a long time. The Yankees have not had a glove like that off the bench in a while. With an aging left side of the infield, he is a good fit.

I L-O-V-E Cervelli as the backup catcher. The prevailing thought on Frankie is that the glove is there, the bat isn’t. That’s fine for a MLB backup.
Plus he adds roster flexibility because of his speed at his position, which is rare. Think about it, you could pinch run him for Posada late in games AND then put him in for defensive purposes. No burning two bench players late in games, no need for a 3rd catcher. That’s a nice little edge for a manager to have.
Cervelli has definitely done about all he can to win the back-up spot for next year.

The last time Andy gave up less hits than IP was 2005 w/ HOU. I think he’s only done that 3 times in his career. Andy gives up hits, but he gives you innings, throws strikes, works fast, gets out of jams… all that stuff.

You could make the argument that the MLB team is better off with Alby than it is with Veras right now. But to lose a player completely opens you up to getting caught with your pants down if someone gets hurt. So I think they’ll demote someone w/options, either Alby or Edwar.

Off topic, but I thought of you guys this past weekend. I was working at an NCAA Softball Regional, and in a three-game series there must have been about 10 sac bunts between the two teams.
In softball, runs are at such a premium, its automatic. You get on, next one bunts, no matter the position in the lineup or anything.
Three hole, four hole hitter, you are laying it down. I kept thinking to myself, “Man, the RAB crowd would have a heart attack here. They are giving away outs left and right!”

I’m thinking of getting one. Actually, two. Verizon is running a 2-1 deal selling the phone(s) for $199 with a 2 year plan. I’m using a gazillion year old Blackberry, so anything is an upgrade for me. Mainly want it for phone calls, check e-mail and web browsing.
