    i miss winning.

    • Accent Shallow

Eh, not like this game is out of reach just yet.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they take 2 out of 3.

  • Accent Shallow

Thought that was gonna out-distance Ibanez’s shot.

    • Drew

Sounded like he might have broke his bat.

      • Accent Shallow

I might have noticed that if Kay & co. hadn’t driven me to using mute in the 4th inning.

  • http://theyankeebomber.blogspot.com Conan

There are still a lot of fly balls against Wang.

  • Accent Shallow

    Dear CMW,

One more out and you’ll have ended the inning without allowing a run. Do you remember what that feels like? Isn’t it a good feeling?

Since I’m being greedy, I’d prefer a ground ball or a K to another popout. Please comply.

  • douglas quaid

    RIP Chien Ming Wang
    nice knowing you :(

    • JeffG

Come on… looked leaps and bounds better than what we saw. I think he’s got a little more strength to gain.
Alot better though… I’m looking up even though this is a loss.

      • Drew

93-94, touched 95 once. Huge improvement to what he was.

  • http://theenlighteneddespot.com NC Saint

If that Tex home run doesn’t prove to everybody that this is a band box, I might just have to wait for a serious pool of evidence in disgust.

    • Tony

I’m really wondering what benefit there is to be had from acting like home runs aren’t flying out of this stadium at a ridiculous rate. The Ruiz homer was an absolute joke. Obviously the Ibanez and Tex homers are homers everywhere, but that’s irrelevant to the discussion. Red herrings are not your friends.

      • Drew

You thought the Ruiz HR was a joke?

  • yankees=warriors

So what do they do with Wang after today?
He needs work, but there’s no way I let him pitch in any game we’re not losing.

  • Accent Shallow

    Wang’s ERA is now a yeoman’s 25.00

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

      Small steps, small steps.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      yeoman’s

      Nice.

  • Drew

Well folks, crunch time. Maybe Swisher will think it’s a warm April day. Plus, we can PH Cash with Berroa, Gardner or Cervelli! lol

    • Accent Shallow

Wonder how much longer they’ll think A-Rod needs a caddy? Until the All-Star break? Later?

Honestly, if Berroa isn’t gone for someone who can at least fake hitting by, say, mid-end of June, I’ll be less than thrilled.

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Yanks aren’t scoring 4 off Lidge.

    • Zack

      Lidge isnt pitching?

      • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

That’s what I get for listening to Kay. TV’s in the other room.

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Make that Madson. Still not happening.

    • yankees=warriors

      Not Lidge. Madson.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

      He’s got a 9.49 ERA since April 18th.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    How was that not outside?

  • Drew

That 2nd strike wasn’t even close. I hate umpires so much.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      Hey, I’m a good umpire.

Oh, Mike, one kid did cry yesterday, but not ’cause of my calls. He was getting lit up.

  • SouthernYankeeFan

I miss early april Nick Swisher.

    • yankees=warriors

Yeah, thankfully, I didn’t submit that many votes for him.

  • Accent Shallow

Isn’t tomorrow’s starter a junkballing lefty? Hopefully the presence of Tex/Swisher/good Robbie/good Melky can prevent the Yankees being 2-hit.

  • http://theyankeebomber.blogspot.com Conan

10 total runs – 7 HRs. This place plays like Petco Park.

  • BigBlueAL

Will Girardi start playing both Cabrera and Gardner at Swisher’s expense soon??? Or at least more often??

    • Tony

He really needs to. That’s the problem with low-contact players. Swisher can’t do anything right now, and there’s no reason for anyone to even think about pitching around him because the other professional ballplayers on the team are demonstrably better than him at the plate. I have to wonder how much of a factor that played in his prior successes.

      • Tony

And by professional ballplayers, I mean guys not named Kevin Cash.

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Nah. Nady’s due back soon, he’ll see some time.

I’m not buying the “only to DH stuff”. There are Pitchers (Saito) who had the same treatment who are pitching, so its hard to imagine he cant make a throw or two a night from Left Field. Plus he’s in a contract year, so its not like they have some huge investment in him. I’m sure he wants to play to show everyone he’s healthy.

Nady pushes Swish, Gardner pushes Melky. I like it.

  • Drew

I must say I’m actually pleased with Wang. In time he’ll find consistency. At the same time, he should have made his start today in AAA.

    • JeffG

I thought he looked better… not himself yet but better.

      • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Exactly. He’s not there yet, but its more a matter of consistency than stuff.

  • douglas quaid

these guys just didn’t show up today. maybe they thought they were still playing the orioles.

  • Drew

Well, at least we got 3.

  • yankees=warriors

The 9 game winning streak was nice, though.
    Let’s start another one tomorrow!

  • phils suck!

couple bright spots… mets beating the sawx and is this melky for real? looks it… would be great if he was…

    • Tony

He was 1-4 with a single?

      • Drew

lol did you see that last out? Hitting a ball hard is a good thing. Sometimes they won’t find the hole.

        • Tony

Maybe Girardi will take him out for an ice cream tonight. This is around the AB # where Melky turned into the worst player in baseball last year. I’d love for this to be for real, but I’m not buying it just yet.

      • phils suck!

yea but the single was a rope down the line and the last out was a rop to howard…and im not jus talkin about results… his at bats are better as a whole. actually looks like a 300 hitter up there and u culd never say that about him previously

  • Drew

It’s funny, we didn’t use the pen today, yet tomorrow we’re in exactly the same position we were today. We’ll have Mo, Veras and Tomko.

    • yankees=warriors

      Coke is still not right?

      • Drew

I’m pretty sure I heard he couldn’t go tonight, I could be mistaken.

      • Drew

Coke was available, just checked lohud.

        • yankees=warriors

That’s good, that means he’s ok.

  • Quikksand

Streak was good while it lasted. :(

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Hey, if we win 9 out of every 10 for the rest of the year, will you take it? So be happy, were still playing great.

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Listening to Cone is like oxygen right now after the nightmare team in the booth.

  • Greg G.

Sometimes you don’t win. Go get ’em tomorrow.

  • JeffG

Meyers beat AJ… that’s about all you can say.

I did think CMW’s appearance was encouraging. Still he has a ways to go but looked like he is at least pointed towards getting right.

The biggest soft spot that I wish we could amend is Cash (hurry Posada) and Swisher (he’ll get hot again but I wish we could rotate some of his ABs with Nady – soon come).

    • Accent Shallow

Posada really pushes the lineup into the “terrifying” category.

      • Drew

When he comes back, is he our 5 hitter or is Robbie? Either way I want Matsui somewhere in the bottom 3.

        • JeffG

Matsui is cold now… wait till he heats up a bit. I still think he is a better hitter overall. Damaging when he is seeing the ball well.

      • JeffG

Yes, but Wang (on top of his game) does that to our staff and that is really where it is at for me.

  • phils suck!

did anyone just see bard pitch for the redsox? 96 97 all farneworthesque straight fastballs incredibly hittable… luis castillo and daniel murphy hit bullets off him right at lowell and lugo

    • Drew

      Saw Murphy’s.

  • Drew

C’mon K-rod! Hammer this shit down.
    -never thought I’d say that.

  • http://eastrutherfordrant.com donttradecano

    Two things:

    1) Who would be opposed to putting Cano behind Arod?

    2) matsui is going to sit 9 straight games when we play 9 in a row in NL parks, which is going to make it harder to get himself going.

    • phils suck!

cano shouldve been hitting behind arod a month ago…matsui will hit but hes not the 100 rbi guy he was but hes still a asset to this lineup

  • LiveFromNewYork

    When is Georgie coming back?

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Cuddyer with a cycle. Second Twins cycle of the season.

  • YankeeScribe

AJ Burnett has been disappointing. He’s potentially a #2/#3 starter but so far, he’s looked more like a #5 starter. Hopefully he gets his ish together by the second half. We’re going to need more than CC and Joba down the stretch…

  • yankees=warriors

    Jays losing.
If that holds up, this isn’t such a bad day after all!

  • bonestock94

    7 hrs today, unbelievable!!
