Game 25 Spillover Thread II
Game 25 Spillover Thread III

Make sure you scroll down for tonight’s game thread.

Shelley Duncan is your International League Offensive Player of the Week. Carlos Pena and Cubs’ prospect Jake Fox are the only players in professional baseball that have hit more homer than Shelley, who had nine coming into today.

According to CBS Sports, Sergio Mitre threw two scoreless innings in Extended Spring Training today. He’s rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and is expected to be ready at mid-season. He’s conveniently serving a 50-game banned substance suspension right now as well. (h/t Rafi for the email)

Crap – hope it ain’t serious (Montero).

  • A.D.

    Good to see Russo back

  • http://liberalmusings.wordpress.com Pablo Zevallos

Apparently Charleston is a bit much for Marshall…

    • Reggie C.

…. and that’s the “gem” of the ’08 draft. Wonderful.

      • http://liberalmusings.wordpress.com Pablo Zevallos

That part isn’t up for debate yet. He should really be in EST right now before heading to Staten Island.

        • Accent Shallow

Let’s give him a couple more starts before decreeing starting him in Charleston a mistake.

        • http://statspeak.net dan

That’s what I was saying 5 days ago.

  • http://www.retire21.org Mike R. – Retire 21

Not to be a negative Nancy, but A-Jax is striking out at a worrisome pace.

    • A.D.

I hear what you’re saying, but when you’re hitting .390 you can K when you want

    • Reggie C.

clearly he’s swinging at everything , but only b/c his confidence has got to be SKY HIGH. When he cools, i think we’ll see more walks.

    • Doug

before tonite, only K’d 3 times in last 24 ABs. hopefully tonite was more an aberration.

    Motherfucker. Hope Montero’s okay.

Venditte does not belong with mere mortals in Charleston.

  • John Stossel

Oh, and the Yanks are being sued by a former scout for three million big ones.

lol. so… he wants to get 1 mil less than what Jose (the 62 OPS+) Molina makes in 1 year for the destruction of his career, reputation and his future in scouting. If the claims really are ambiguous, then the Yankees should have no problem dishing out 3+ million to someone who doesn’t play baseball: they did that with Pavano for 4 years.

    • http://www.puristbleedspinstripes.com Aunt Becca-Optimist Prime

      +1

    • steve (different one)

      $3M is $1M less than $2M?

hey, good try though!! keep plugging!

      • John Stossel

That was a reading fail. I went to glance at the Cot’s page and saw 4 mil, I missed the 2 year part. I mostly use Cot’s when I want to see smaller contracts so I’m used to looking at 1 year values and forgot to use my big person math 4/2=2. thanks.

  • Rafi

Mike, I think you missed the most astonishing thing from the SW/B game. Indianapolis stole 9 bags in that game, including from guys with no speed. I know everyone speaks highly of him as a catcher/game caller, but is P.J. that easy to steal off of?

  • http://statspeak.net dan

Jackson needs to chill with the strikeouts–he’s at 27% right now. For reference, that’s pretty much what Chris Young has done the last two years.

  • emac2

I missed where Chris Young hit over .300.

On the other hand a lumberjack is a lot like an axe murderer except for the fact that he hasn’t killed anyone.
