Sterling: Wang to start at AAA

By

According to John Sterling, Chien-Ming Wang will make his next rehab start at AAA on Tuesday. My guess is that if Wang has a good outing, he’ll replace Phil Hughes in the rotation next weekend. With a day off on Monday, the Yankees will need five starters this week before Wang is ready. If Wang isn’t sharp for Scranton, he’ll stay there on his rehab assignment.

Scranton just needs bodies to start at this point.

Nice of the Yankees to bolster the SWB rotation.

On a serious note, I’m really skeptical that whatever physical issue Wang has could have been remedied so quickly.

  3. DCR says:

Good news. I really don’t want Hughes out there anymore.

I thought it was a fake injury too at first, but after everything they’ve done and hearing what Wang had to say himself, I would think that’s not the case.

Heard that he is pitching with precision and his velocity is very much there now, so I don’t think they’re rushing him back.

It’s just too bad that Hughes is going to go down on a bad note… Hope he’ll refine his pitches more once he back in AAA, and dominate again if he gets back again later in the season.
