2009 Draft: Adam Warren in action

By Mike Axisa

Just a heads up, Yankees fourth round pick Adam Warren is on the mound for UNC right now in their College World Series game against Southern Mississippi. You can see the game on ESPN2, but if you can’t watch, here’s the flippin’ sweet GameTracker. It’s an elimination game, so loser goes home.

Oh, and Yanks scouting director Damon Oppenheimer is chatting at MLB.com right now.

Go Adam.

Mike are they going to develop him as a starter or put him in the ‘pen to fast track him?

I sure hope as a starter.

A.D. says:

Soon enough pitchers will be taken as “8th inning guys” as a position in the draft so fans can get excited

Not every team can be the Mariners.

Drew says:

Thanks for the heads up mike.
Seems to be working that outside corner so far.

A.D. says:

Thats going to happen with metal bats.

Andy in Sunny Daytona says:

Kind of smallish, looks a little like D-Rob.

Drew says:

This dude has better location than half the guys in our pen.

Drew says:

Shit I jinxed em.

thebusiness says:

You guys should make links open in a new window.

Andy in Sunny Daytona says:

I asked Oppenheimer where Melvin would have gone in this year’s draft, high 1st or low 1st.

He’s not draft eligible because he has no amateur status.

Melvin Croussett has been a professional baseball player since birth.

Birth? Try conception.

Andy in Sunny Daytona says:

I asked IF eligible. I guess he didn’t want to make Strasburg jealous, he didn’t answer the question.

COWARD!!!

Melvin Croussett once had a bout of mechanical problems, like what Chien Ming Wang is going through now.

It looked just like Steven Strasburg.

Andy in Sunny Daytona says:

Melvin was thought to have had forearm tightness, so he visited Dr. James Andrews. Dr. Andrews said that not only was Melvin’s elbow healthy but he actually had 3 ligaments in his elbow instead of 1.

I Remember Celerino Sanchez says:

And the tendons are made of steel-enforced nylon.

UWS says:

And the tendons are made of steel-enforced nylon adamantium.

Andy in Sunny Daytona says:

Imagine, if you will, an X-Man like athlete, whose powers are strikeouts and a low WHIP.

Andy in Sunny Daytona says:

That is a pretty sweet GameTracker.

The Lodge says:

Word. All the built-in functionality (getting stats & bios etc) right in the app is very nice.

Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark!

Andy in Sunny Daytona says:

My only criticim is that they have the lights on. Ridiculous, its a day game. Come on CBS, I understand NBC pulling that crap, but I expect more from the #1 Network.

Yankee1010 says:

Is it bone? Is the lettering in Silian Rail/

Zach says:

That’s a sick gametracker, do they have that for MLB?

UWS says:

I’m in love with this gametracker. They even had the guy slide in on the steal!!!

You can afford that type of sweet gametracker action when you make money hand over fist treating amateur athletes like indentured servants.

I Remember Celerino Sanchez says:

Steve Phillips just said an offensive 2B is more valuable than an offensive CF.

Zach says:

Dustin Pedroia v Carlos Beltran

we all know who wins

Forget that twirp, Utley vs Beltran and Beltran still wins.

Yep.

So that comes along with his obsession with putting good young pitchers into the ‘pen…I hope Steve doesn’t wonder why he doesn’t haev a front office job anymore…

Zach says:

But a bullpen of Joba, CC, AJ and Mo would be lights out after the 5th inning!

Pat Kelly v. Roberto Kelly.

Andy in Sunny Daytona says:

Kelly Leak v. Jose Agilar

KW says:

Really? 8.1 WAR last year for Utley, 7.0 highest for Beltran. It’s not THAT cut and dried.

zs190 says:

This shortstop for Ole Miss is just brutal. Not all those balls were catchable but it feels like balls just keep going under his glove or he dives and doesn’t catch it.

IvanS says:

He’s throwing a ton of pitches per inning. He’ll fit in just perfectly..

Brian says:

Does Warren really only throw 84-86 with his fastball?

Handtius says:

anyone know his pitch count? …warren.
