If Purke is available, I have to take him. Power lefties > polished righty. However, if Purke is gone, take Gibson over a Heathcott.

I’d be ok with Gibson. Where the Yanks have to sign whoever they get at that pick and with his injury, he’ll sign and it won’t be extreme demands. He’d be another nice arm to add to the organization.

i’d certainly love him to, though. i think drafting him would be a very smart idea if he were available.

It depends on who else is on the board at the time. I’m fairly certain Gibson won’t be the only guy to fall.

i’d doubt it. having the red sox and mariners pick right before the yankees scares me – very similar to the tigers in ’07 when they nabbed porcello only a few picks before us.

Hate to be this guy, but what are the odds that Gibson gets past the Sox’s pick right before ours even if he does drop that far?

From what I have seen, he doesn’t have nearly the stuff. I think I would prefer Purke, but if he’s gone, I wouldn’t lose any sleep over Gibson.

I’d take Gibson.

Purke is all projection. Gibson has projection left, and already throws 2 effective pitches – the 2 seamer and the changeup – with command. Gibson should be ready for the show alot quicker than Purke. I also think Gibson could be ready before Brackman.
