Bleich struggles as Tampa falls
ByOne year ago today on DotF, Austin Jackson doubled twice and drove in seven runs in Double-A Trenton’s win over New Britain.
Zach McAllister was named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week.
Scroll down for tonight’s game thread.
Triple-A Scranton (4-0 loss to Louisville) dominated by one of my favorite non-Yankee prospects, the guy the Phils traded to the Reds in ‘07 for Kyle Lohse

Kyle Anson: 2 for 3, 1 RBI, 1 K
Marcos Vechionacci: 0 for 2, 1 BB -avg down to .196
James Cooper: 1 for 1, 1 RBI, 2 BB
Josh Schmidt: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 6-6 GB/FB – made his first career start because Ivan Nova is away from the team dealing with a death in his family
Mike Dunn: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 6-2 GB/FB
Amaury Sanit: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 0-1 GB/FB

Low-A Charleston had a scheduled off day.

Luckily it was E. Duncan Ajax collided with instead of S. Duncan. Otherwise it would be a sad day for the Jackson family.
‘im sorry ms. jackson…he took a flying forearm to the chest’
“I’m sorry Ms. Jackson…
he took a flying forearm to the chest’WHOOOO!!!! I am for REAL! Never meant to make your daughter cry, I apologize a trillion times…Fixed.
I wondered how long it would take for someone to bust that out.
You never disappoint, TSJC.
Your homosexual man-love for me rears it’s ugly gay head again.
gotta agree with u on Matt Maloney
i saw him pitch for the A Phillies affiliate, the lakewood blueclaws…he was amazing that year, along with carlos carrasco and josh outman, leading the blueclaws to the SAL championship. maloney pitched a CG shutout in the final game of the series if i remember correctly.
still dont see why so much love, 25years old and hasnt been to the bigs yet, had a 4.68era in 140ip in AAA last year, and unless they make a deal there’s no real room in that rotation for atleast another year
In VERY minor league news, Harold Garce pitched 3 innings for Yankees 1 in the DSL today. He didn’t walk anyone. Why news? The man throws 100+ but he walked 84 in 37 innings last year.
Harold Garce makes
wolverinesJason Neighborgall purr.Calling Harold Garce raw is like saying coal is a raw diamond.
84 BB in 37 innings?
I’m not even mad.
Thats amazing.
I’m with you. Wow.
Harold Garce ate the whole wheel of cheese and pooped in the fridge.
huh? Is that possible?
It’s amazing how much slack you can get from an organization when you throw really, really hard.
i believe.
Unless your name is Joba Chamberlain. Then, if you throw really hard, every single start you’ll ever make is a referendum on your immediate future.
One screwup or subpar outing, and it’s TO THE BULLPEN, HUZZAH!!!!!
yeah, is it just me or was Flaherty bordering on hysterics with the “Joba answering the bell” comments…. implying he had to pitch well to keep his spot in the rotation.
sometimes i hate this market.
The freaking “Scouting Report” thing they do in the beginning of the game said he was “pitching for his spot in the rotation”
sometimes i hate this market.
20 million people in the NYC metro area = lots more potential idiots, mouthbreathers, and conclusion-jumpers who can cross your path… or end up with a highly rated drivetime show jam-packed with hours of counter-intellectual buffoonery every day on your favorite sports talk radio channel.
Oh, and more raging homophobes. LOTS MORE raging homophobes.
Is Mike Dunn someone who would go 3 innings or is he more of a LOOGY
He can pitch to both LHB and RHB. He’s Phil Coke with better stuff.
He’ll see the Bronx this year, right?
Yeah, at some point I’d imagine.
Better stuff and lesser command…?
Yeah, but still avg command.
Wow.
I think this is the first time you’ve compared a prospect positively to someone currently in the majors.
Not that you’re negative, just that seems like high praise.
Looks like Melancon is fixed again.
That’s just gay. Man, so gay. Welcome.
If by gay you mean that the Mark “the son of Mo” Melancon is throwing like Mo again, then yes its extremely gay.
That is exactly what I meant. It’s so good to be gay.
Is your refrigerator running? Because if it is it probably runs like you, very homosexually.
HAHA….so fucking awesome it’s GAY, in all caps.
lol
Look at him. He runs like a Welshman. Doesn’t he run like a Welshman?
Now, here’s a fellow attempting to ride a bicycle. But he’s having some trouble, isn’t he? And do you know why?
Because he’s a Scot! Now, who here likes a good story about a bridge?
What say we leave the Ironhorse/gay stuff in the game threads?
Meh, we’ll all forget about it by tomorrow morning.
Annnnd I’ve been vetoed. lol
FILIBUSTER BEFORE EVERYBODY ELSE VOTES
John Boehner, is that you?
Harry Butt-Sects
Question—What is the age group that uses “gay” in everyday conversation?
Hold on, let me go call IronHorse and I’ll find out how old he is. My guess is, sadly older than you think is appropriate for that level of ignorance.
Does Montero get a hit in every game?
It certainly seems that way, doesn’t it? I’m starting to buy into the hype.
If someone plays 130 games, goes 1 for 4 in all of them, is he still a prospect?
Nope. Sometimes he gets several.
12-gamer
where is kelvin De Leon playing this year?
He’s stateside so I would think Staten Island or the Gulf Coast League. I’m leaning towards GCL to keep him close to the main complex, but I could be wrong.
GCL, for sure. I’d be shocked, shocked if they sent him to SI.
God, Axisa, you’re such a pansy-gay with a vagina, you homo. Stop being such a woman and get off the positive posse bangwagon. De Leon belongs in full-season Charleston immediately.
Urena coming stateside too?
Word, De Leon, Urena and Sosa are all here.
who’s the best prospect of the three….or is it too early to tell?
I really wish there were some more solid position players in AA. There’s Snyder, Gonzalez, and it seems like not much else.
Ooooh, Andy Richter is on the new Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien! Sweet, I’m excited.
(IronHorse comment in 3… 2… 1…)
It’s awesome but kind of bittersweet. Too bad he had to go to LA.
Circle!
Jon Albaladejo: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1-0 GB/FB – 22 of 35 pitches were strikes (62.9%) … 35 pitches to get 3 outs? yikes
Who knows how many pitches the error cost him? He also pitched to two batters in the 9th before Melancon came on. Not great, but not as bad as it sounds.
Is Vasquez day to day?
Jeremy Bleich= Uninspiring first round pick…
3.40 FIP isn’t anything to sneeze at. K/9 is a little low (6.11), but his control is pretty good (2.57 BB/9).
Or is this a reference to the “Austin Jackson being the most uninspiring top prospect we’ve had in awhile” thing?
How is a left hander with good stuff uninspiring?
Bleich should get TJ surgery now before its too late.
Can we just stick to baseball? These amateur comedians just don’t cut it.
Agreed.
