fun while it lasted

JobaWockeeZ says:

A-Rod should have backed up the throw. Really the only stats he cares for his himself.

Drew says:

Horrible game so far for Jorge. Hopefully he makes up for it…

John says:

at least it didn’t hurt

Drew says:

Love me some Melky

Dave says:

Bunting? Really?

Drew says:

why the fuck is he bunting…

Take. The. Bunt. Sign. Off. It’s the fucking fourth inning.

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

When I see Brett Gardner, I get goose bumps. My arm is like sandpaper… almost… GRITTY.

Dave says:

How about you stand in and try to work a walk against a guy with no control?

V says:

Sac bunt in the 4th inning? What the fuck?

Dave says:

EXTREME SMALL BALL

JobaWockeeZ says:

Whatever. I still love Gardner’s speed.

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

That’s gotta be on Joe though.

pat says:

Guys this is the immortal vincente padilla we’re facing, it could literally be YEARS before we get another hit.

I wouldn’t let Michael Kay into my house either, Paul.

Drew says:

I don’t care if he was bunting for a hit. Try hitting for a hit. Or taking a walk. We’re down one. It’s the fourth inning. It’s PADILLA!

Dave says:

Top 5 pitchers Alive, Padilla, Padilla, Padilla, Padilla and Padilla. He spits that hot fire!

Drew says:

Too close man!

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

GIVE ME PADILLA’S LAST FIVE STARTS!!!

Too much……?

Bill says:

Think about it…Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan and Dylan — BEACUSE I SPIT HOT FIRE! I was worried no one would get the reference.

JobaWockeeZ says:

Let’s go Johnny!

Zack says:

over/under 4.5 innings for padilla?

How can someone pitch .5 of an inning?

Yes. You need to get 13.5 outs.

Zack says:

because if its over/under 5 you cant pick 5, you have to pick 4 or 6. over/under 4.5 allows you to pick 4 or 5

Chris says:

Duh. I’m an idiot.

Accent Shallow says:

While I knew the A.J. Burnett signing would likely be a bad deal in the long run, I consoled myself with “At least he’ll really help out the 2009 and 2010 teams, should he be able to stay healthy.” He hasn’t been awful, but he’s been frustrating as hell, especially considering how great his stuff is.

If he wins 14-15 games per year and spins a few gems in the playoffs, it will be worth it.

JobaWockeeZ says:

NICE DAMON! Tie.

Drew says:

Love me some JD.

Johnny’s all like “You’re welcome, A.J.”

Reggie C. says:

good pitch. better swing.

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

Check out that 1st to 3rd baserunning! I’m talkingst to ju Jorge…

John says:

J JJ JJJJ JJJJJJJ JOHNNY!

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

JobaWockeeZ says:

FUCK YOU PADILLA. You fucking lame excuse for a fucking pitcher who needs to grow a pair. I hope A-Rod FUCKS YOU UP.

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

I never knew this before but Tex has a nice little attitude on him! He’s all “all american” and shit on the surface… but I bet he can get down if he needed to.

Zack says:

you didnt realize that with the carlos gomez play?

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

Yeah, that was once… but now I’m convinced.

pat says:

Agreed, I like seeing him fired up.

Nickel says:

Don’t blame you, Tex. I’d be pissed, too.

John says:

3rd big spot for Alex and 3rd time with bases loaded in 2 days

Drew says:

Hey Al, get a fucking hit for Teix. Please.

Reggie C. says:

Teix : “FUCKIN BULLSHIT”

pat says:

AROD please make him pay

Dave says:

WOW Tex is so mad, I love it.

Bounce on his head, Tex!

V says:

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

come on alex a big base hit right here.

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

Has A-Rod been up with the bases loaded every AB this game?

arlok789 says:

Padilla is a tool, what did Teix ever do?

JobaWockeeZ says:

Play good baseball.

Be more awesome at baseball than Padilla could ever dream to be.

Dave says:

Christ, looks like he took Tex’s constructive criticism literally.

He just walked a guy, hit another … by all means, swing at the first pitch Alex.

Drew says:

Were the benches warned? I didn’t see a signal.

JobaWockeeZ says:

LOL TEIX!!!!!!!

Drew says:

Andrus just paid for Padilla’s goof.

pat says:

SHit, Tex shelly duncan’d the shortstop right there.

Accent Shallow says:

Love the takeout slide.

Dave says:

Wow Tex took that shit out on whoever that was at 2nd

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

Tex is the man. Plain and simple. The man.

Drew says:

Kay was a little late to that party.

JobaWockeeZ says:

That’s a great Fu by Teix. Teix is quickly becoming one of my favorite Yankees.

Dave says:

Alex is taking Ortiz’s 0-12 with RISP and

Dave says:

taking aim at*

JobaWockeeZ says:

?
A-Rod scored a couple runs yesterday.

Accent Shallow says:

Come on Robbie, make this schlub pay.

John says:

Big Texy! Does Alex owe him a dinner for that RBI?

claybeez says:

Great job, Tex. That should be baseball every day.

Zack says:

gameday is back up

Dave says:

Finally, I hate not knowing pitch speeds

Ivan says:

Tex is becoming my fav yankee right now.

arlok789 says:

I don’t think Andrus landed hard enough. I want to see Burnett come up and in on somebody.

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

I think you’ll get your wish intentional or not. AJs command is shaky tonight.

Zack says:

i want AJ to throw strikes and have a 1-2-3 inning

Oh peace, Padilla.

Nick L says:

gotta love how there scoring runs without the HR.

Any thought on the 6 man rotation stuff? I posted it in the other thread just before it got closed. Here it is again:

http://www.nj.com/yankees/inde.....or_ya.html

“Girardi left open the chance of plugging Wang into rotation even if he has to give the other pitchers in the rotation an extra day by pushing them back.”

Accent Shallow says:

I don’t think it’s an especially good idea. Someone should be bumped to the ‘pen/AAA.

Are we even sure Wang’s ready to go 80+ pitches?

Zack says:

Wang said if he has to start for Andy on Wednesday(?) his limit would be 80

Accent Shallow says:

Exactly, and we’re not sure at what point he’d lose strength. If the reason he was so horrible in the beginning of the year is his conditioning was off, I’m hesitant to throw him back into the rotation.

Zack says:

My theory let him build up strength and start him at home against the Nationals, because they’re the nationals.

I would do that, but the problem is his next two turns would be vs the Mets in Citifield and vs the Marlins in Florida.

The Yank dont want to pitch Wang in NL parks again. So we pitch him once and skip him the next two turns? Might as well just leave it as is until July when Interleague is over.

Drew says:

Hughes has had some good starts and not so good starts. I have always thought he should be in AAA refining the Cutter and working on the Change.

I’m not totally opposed to it, but I’d rather do an old school bullpen like Joe P was discussing the other day with Hughes. But I’ve always been intrigued by 6 man rotations and possibly skipping guys over and using them out of the bullpen here and there. Sounds radical, but its what you would do in the playoffs when you trying like heck to win every game.

Believe it or not, the 1939 Yanks had a makeshift SEVEN man rotation. Nobody got more than 28 starts, most had 15-20, and they were arguably the greatest team in the history of Baseball. Biggest run differential ever, by a lot.

+411 and the only team over 400. To put that in some context, the 27 Yanks were + 376, the 1998 Yanks were +309 and the 1975 Reds were +254 .

http://www.baseball-reference......39+yankees

Accent Shallow says:

While something like that is intriguing, I doubt you’d be able to sell that, since it’s such an unusual idea.

Especially since today’s starters aren’t necessarily the rubber armed pitchers of years past.

Its pretty simple really. Just use your best arms whenever you can to win a game. Same stuff that goes on in the playoffs with shorter rotations. With a 6 man, you could pitch guys on their throw days without putting undue stress on their arms, since they’re getting extra rest anyway. Or skip their turn and pitch them on their throw days 2-3 times to keep them sharp.

Accent Shallow says:

While I love the idea in theory, I’m just skeptical how today’s pitchers would adjust to it, since it seems that their routines are so regimented.

I’m afraid it’d result in lots of DL time, or everyone being exhausted come September.

Of course, if it works, you might end up with the best staff in baseball.

Innovators always have an edge over the guys doing things the old way, in any sport. Its the history of sports in many ways.

Everyone thought LaRussa was nuts when he started the lefty-righty bullpen specialization in the 80s. Then he won a WS and everyone copied him.

Accent Shallow says:

However, I should note that as a concept, I love it. It just seems that today’s pitchers are such creatures of habit, that it’d be arm injuries waiting to happen.

If it isn’t though . . . oh boy. It’d afford you such flexibility . . . you could yank starters who are clearly ineffective before they put the game out of reach, since your pen has several other starters in it!

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

Seriously, right now that slide by Tex is the play of the game.

Drew says:

Eh, Brett had a nice catch that got AJ out of the inning. Of course, with YES not showing the replay, perhaps he took a bad route. We may never know…

John says:

pat says:

Unrelated, but how fucking ridiculous was Vince Young’s little rant? If I’m not gonna start trade me?

Drew says:

If I’m Vince Young. I ain’t trying to hold no clipboard.

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

Don’t get me started. I’m a TTU grad. I hate Texas. Hate.

Most undeserving ROY ever? I’d say so.

Angel Berroa. Next time be more specific. ;)

On a scale from 1-10
If he starts or gets traded? 1
If he stays on the bench? 8

Dave says:

Not surprising for a guy who got like a 7 on the wonderlic

pat says:

I’ll be honest, I laughed at all of these responses. You guys are the best.

Someone else is getting beaned in this game. 2-0

pat says:

Yeah, AJ is the wrong person to fuck with.

What would you guys want from the Stadium?

LiveFromNewYork says:

def the facade

Easy. Thurmon Munson’s locker.

Some call me...tim says:

+1

My first Yankee memory.

LiveFromNewYork says:

I still can’t believe Damon took the foul poles from OYS. I wonder how much jewelry he had to buy his wife after he announed that.

Some call me...tim says:

John says:

Seriously, I’m surprised we’ve “ONLY” scored 5 runs (as of now) in 3.2 innings. We gotten on base 13 baserunners already and still haven’t gotten that big hit with RISP. Yet, we’ve scored 5….awesome

Well, they’re struggling w/RISP again, no? They started the season cold w/RISP, heated up, now they’re coming back down. It’ll rebound again.

John says:

yep, they will…and right on cue there

Accent Shallow says:

Padilla is a sack of crap. Can’t stand that sort of attitude in a pitcher.

(Although I wonder, why don’t the Sox pick up Daniel Cabrera for the upcoming series, start him one of the games and have him hit Jeter? Ha ha)

Did he pump his fist? Because if he did he is dead in my book. DEAD!

pc69 says:

What is the over/under before Ortiz is benched and then DFA’d?

I doubt it will be this year.

Accent Shallow says:

In re: Derek Holland . . . /makes Rookie of the Year joke

arlok789 says:

Which Ranger do you want to see take a fastball between the letters?

Lily says:

kinsler or cruz

JobaWockeeZ says:

I love clutch hitting.

Nickel says:

That was a sweet swing by Jorge there.

Jorge = out of the doghouse.

pc69 says:

Ok, I missed Tex getting hit. Intentional? Does AJ retaliate?

JobaWockeeZ says:

GODZILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GET FUCKED TEXAS!

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

seeeee yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Jake says:

That, right there, is the best revenge for hitting Tex.

Drew says:

Ay Padilla. Fuck you bitch.

Chris says:

An A-Bomb! From Matsui!

Some call me...tim says:

Anybody else feel an awkward Japanese A-bomb reference?

Accent Shallow says:

BOOM goes the dynamite.

Dave says:

arlok789 says:

Matsui has CRUSHED two pitches today. I like it. To bad he can’t field or run.

pc69 says:

FUCK YOU TEXAS….Hit our Million dollar boys… bastards.

LiveFromNewYork says:

Go ahead…hit our first baseman. And you will f’ing PAY.

Accent Shallow says:

Guess Hideki sees this kid well. Love it.

pat says:

Oh god, somebody is definitely getting drilled.

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

Let sleeping dogs lie. No reason to rile up the Rangers. Just get the W.

Drew says:

110% disagree with you.

Winning >>> revenge.

Drew says:

Yes, because hitting someone with a 9-3 lead = loss.

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

You’re allowed. And apparently AJ disagrees too.

e mills says:

Don’t mess w/ Texas, I mean Teixeira

Drew says:

I could’ve sworn Kay just said payback is a bitch

JobaWockeeZ says:

Teix loved the blast. Pound them more Melky.

Accent Shallow says:

Hey, it’s the Ghost of Melkys Past!

John says:

Our team chemistry made this possible!!!

pat says:

Accent Shallow says:

Any Scrubs reference gets a +1

pc69 says:

That is just classic

LiveFromNewYork says:

Arod said to Tex “What the hell did you do to this guy?”

John says:

Cmon AJ, this game is yours for the taking

Hi, I'm Jerry, this is my associate Cornelius says:

Hideki Matsui shot the sheriff. And roundhouse kicked the deputy.

Lily says:

now lets hope aj can keep this lead

LiveFromNewYork says:

JobaWockeeZ says:

Drew says:

AJ hit the fuckin guy man.

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

payback jajjaaa

LiveFromNewYork says:

Putting him on his ass without actually hitting him is pretty sweet.

John says:

Congrats to Mr. Jeter for getting run #1500!

Drew says:

Well that worked out well.

That was even better than hitting him.

Jay says:

The best part of that was the nod from the ground, like “Yeah, I knew that shit was coming…thanks for not getting my dome piece”

pat says:

Ah I’d rather you bury it in his ribcage than throw one over his head. Still good though.

I like the “give him a scare strike him out approach.

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

I agree. No need to hit him and potentially injure the guy. Putting him on his ass accomplishes the same thing. Probably makes his heart pound even more.

pat says:

Eh, you’re probably right. I just prefer my baseball games laced with violence.

Hi, I'm Jerry, this is my associate Cornelius says:

Isn’t Cruz the same clown that showed up Aceves after homering in the 9th on last Monday?

pat says:

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

I thought he was a little too impressed with his HR off AJ too.

Arman Tamzarian says:

I just got in and saw AJ throw in, what happened with Tex?

Hi, I'm Jerry, this is my associate Cornelius says:

hit twice already

arlok789 says:

Padilla hit him with a curve in the first and nailed him in the ass with a heater last inning.

Arman Tamzarian says:

huh, can’t quite see the logic in that.

Drew says:

Great inning for AJ.

That’s the second time this year AJ Burnett threw up an in on a guy, then struck him out in the same at-bat after a teammate was hit.

Awesome.

Rob H. says:

this was something missing from this team the past few years. It’s so good to see a completely different attitude than what was under torre.

You mean the “You new guys have to impress the 4 of us with rings” clubhouse?

Rob H. says:

yup. I think that had a lot to do with this team not getting along with one another but it didn’t help that certain “new guys” had bad attitudes to begin with.

John says:

team chemistry

dkidd says:

longoria the other?

Rob H. says:

lol Longoria sh!t himself when it happened to him. It was hilarious.

dkidd says:

i remember he swung like kruk against randy johnson in the all-star game. it was like no one had ever thrown inside to him before

pat says:

Yup. Swish was buzzed that game too, he then jacked one outta the trop.

Dave says:

You gotta love the self policing of baseball

pc69 says:

It works, better than David Stern and his dumb ass rules.

I especially love the “That foul was not a foul” stuff we get two days later.

Drew says:

Burn notice commercial. It’s a really sick show. Ya’ll should give it a try.

pc69 says:

It is. Great show!

Some call me...tim says:

Y’all :)

Alabama State Color:
Primer

I watched if a few times and was unimpressed.

Drew says:

When I was a little kid me and my dad watched Mcgyver. Burn notice is like Mcgyver on steroids with better actors.

pc69 says:

it is about the cheesy lines and cool things he can make. Plus he has a bad ass chick on his side. Pure entertainment, nothing else.

Jake says:

June 4th, awesome show

Lily says:

well the rangers had to know that was coming and since cruz hit the homerun i wasn’t surprised aj went up and in like that.

If basketball self policed like baseball Lebron James would get one between the numbers next time he faced Orlando.

Zack says:

maybe mo williams will chuck the ball at him

If he does it during a playoff game he’ll probably miss.

http://www.instantrimshot.com

Great range, Cruz.

Is Gardner ALLOWED to hit a ball that far?

Aaron says:

He has twice as many HRs as Big Papi

JobaWockeeZ says:

And Jason Varitek has TEN TIMES more than Ortiz. Something about HR’s is off this year. It can’t just be the NYS.

Accent Shallow says:

To be fair, that inside-the-park-job isn’t the same. I’m sure Ortiz could hit a pop fly 150 ft to left. Just when/if it’s misplayed, he’d wind up on second.

Drew says:

The sick kid on seinfeld agrees with you.

Dave says:

Man, thought Gardner bought a 1 way ticket on the Rt. Field express

LiveFromNewYork says:

Didn’t Torre dislike retaliation? I didn’t see Girardi flinch at all.

Rob H. says:

yeah torre wasnt one to believe in the whole retaliation thing as evidenced by the Red Sox continuously getting away with hitting guys like Jeter and A-Rod and bernie, etc.

Drew says:

Girardi said to Teix, “It’s bullshit, we’ll take care of it” when he walked out to first base.

Dave says:

Id say Girardi is probably the most physically intimidating manager in the league right?

LiveFromNewYork says:

Yeah I wouldn’t want to mess with him.

I don’t know, man. I’d be pretty scared of a hungry Charlie Manuel.

John says:

Zack says:

step into his office

It’s Ozzie Guillen for me. He just looks like the kind of guy that carries a shiv around just in case.

dkidd says:

cito gaston is terrifying

Accent Shallow says:

Ok, if Gardner was able to jack one to the right-center alley, they’d have to move the fences back immediately.

John says:

Let this game be a notice to all teams out there: DON’T FUCK WITH THE YANKEES!

gxpanos says:

What was the answer to the trivia question about Jeter? I missed it.

Wakefield, 31 H.

gxpanos says:

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

nice 1 pitch one out.

John says:

Can you guys believe the Matsui homer was the only XBH for us all game?…and we have 10 hits!

e mills says:

anyone see what went on w/ Porcello? I know Bay had a knock, but anything else?

Zack says:

kind of blew up in the 6th, single, bunch of walks, reliever came in, HBP let another guy in

No one is ever in that Audi club.

Yankees_Universe says:

I think you have to pay separately (I think I saw $48 on stubhub) on top of the ticket price.

pat says:

Eh, 6 runs against this team in this stadium isn’t all that safe. Especially with our bullpen.

pat says:

ugh wrong spot.

VO says:

Does AJ come back out for the 7th?

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

i think burnett get another inning.

Accent Shallow says:

Absolutely. 95 pitches through 6? The man’s 32, no need to baby him.

Charlie says:

he’s at 95, so maybe

Charlie says:

if i was nelson cruz during that at bat i’d have been scared shitless, it can’t be pleasant expecting to be drilled by a 95 mph fastball

John says:

Did anyone see John Harper’s latest story? The headline is; “Are Yankees better or is American League sinking to their level?”

WTF?

pc69 says:

He is a dumb ass. Yankees are just that much better than last year AND are finally getting steady contributions from their young guys.

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

And the Sox have been struggling somewhat and the Rays got the injury bug that they avoided last year.

Zack says:

the Yankees arent even playing them though, so its not like we’re beating up on them. Boston just lost 2 out of 3 to Toronto after Toronto lost 9 in a row, imagine if the yankees did that

Charlie says:

that’s nothing short of ridiculous. don’t read any of that shithead’s articles, clearly has no clue what he’s talking about

Conan the Barack O'Brian says:

Jeter is two hits away from tying Tim Raines for career hits (2605). Not watching a broadcast; don’t know if it’s been said.

And nothing adds spice to the “Jeter is getting old” debate quite like talking about Pete Rose v. Jeter comps.

John says:

yea, and he got his 1500th run today too.

pc69 says:

So true. Don’t tell ESPN or Phillips or Gammons that Jeter is still producing, they will want him tested.

Accent Shallow says:

Wait, they caught Jeter betting on baseball?

Fuck. :(

John says:

7.71 ERA in 7 innings this year and it’s bout to get worse…really worse

John says:

whoops wrong place

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

Ooohhhh shit that guy just took it right off his dome! You gotta pay attention old man. Stop sipping your martinis down there for a second and look up.

Charlie says:

this guy’s face is hilarious

Accent Shallow says:

I have good memories of Warner Madrigal. He made his MLB debut against the Yankees last year, and pitched to a 162.00 ERA.

Zack says:

i feel bad for guys like that, not when its against the Yankees though

John says:

7.71 ERA in 7 innings this year and it’s bout to get worse…really worse…and as I type this it just did.

Charlie says:

he went down and got that one

Accent Shallow says:

Christ, Robbie’s a talented hitter. Please walk a couple times sometime soon, though.

pc69 says:

when he is on, he handles the bat better than most. Love watching his swing.

Tank the Frank (formerly just "Frank") says:

He’s due for his June/July rampage too. I love it when he’s on fire.

LiveFromNewYork says:

sending the runner when you’re up 9-3

ballsy club these Yankees.

JobaWockeeZ says:

Jorge! Nicceee

Accent Shallow says:

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

Charlie says:

Tack on time!1!

LiveFromNewYork says:

I repeat. Hit our first baseman. You f’ing pay.

pc69 says:

This stadium is a bandbox.

M18 says:

name a park that ball stays in

Nickel says:

pc69 says:

Relax, I was being sarcastic because a big deal will be made of the HR. Just like in the PHilly series, not many parks would have held those HR’s.

Some call me...tim says:

Yellowstone.

Next question…

Arman Tamzarian says:

Where does that term come from? I’ve heard it a million times and know what it means, but what’s the origin?

Dave says:

mmmmhmmm gotta love the soft underbelly of the bullpen

Pete says:

Take Burnett out, put in Veras. LOLOL…

Charlie says:

eh, wait till we’re up at least 12..

Andy Stankiewicz says:

Make them bleed !!!!!!

Charlie says:

It’s amazing how good this team is now. If we played the sox right now, we’d sweep them.

LiveFromNewYork says:

they wouldn’t even take the field. They’d be too scared.

gxpanos says:

DAMN. That was no cheapie.

By the way, I missed the Cruz and Godzilla shots; were either of them “BANDBOX!!!!” homers or were they no-doubters?

John Duci says:

ehh they were both legit. They werent crushed but probably out in most parks

JobaWockeeZ says:

Cruz was too left and that was a no doubter. Matsui wasn’t a bandbox homer I think. It was crushed.

gxpanos says:

Charlie says:

both no doubters

Evan says:

Andy Stankiewicz says:

Bring in Veras to throw at someone. Then hopefully he will get suspended.

Charlie says:

that’s actually a pretty good idea, but DFAing him would be better

Nice Austin Jackson piece, for anyone interested.

http://bats.blogs.nytimes.com/.....ting-game/

Accent Shallow says:

Not to steal your thunder, but here’s the feature story:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06.....ref=sports

John says:

yea, RAB had a post on that earlier today

Drew says:
JobaWockeeZ says:

Yeah maybe 8th and 9th.

pat says:

Supposedly he might have to pitch in place of pettite so who knows.

Ewwww.

Keep your sex life out of this thread, creepo.

Drew says:

You are so gay.
/ironhorse’d

Drew says:

That give’s new meaning to “selling yourself short.”
I don’t even want to know how you came across that.

You mean to tell me you don’t Google “Midget Hookers” in your spare time? I thought everybody does.

pat says:

HAHA did O’Neil just call him Marky Cabrera?

John says:

Unbelievably, that HR was only the 2nd XBH of the day, out of 13 hits.

LiveFromNewYork says:

Swisher is wishing he was in on this parade.

Accent Shallow says:

Wait, did Tino/Brosius really outpoll Donnie/Boggs? I know rings count, but Jesus Christ.

Charlie says:

it always goes by who was most recent/most popular names

Drew says:

all about the rings baby.

I think Boggs was done in by his Hair Replacement commercials.

dkidd says:

gardner’s at-bats looking better and better

John says:

The Yanks goal is to score 25 runs for hitting Tex

dkidd says:

kris benson????????

Charlie says:

jeter’s realized this is too unclutch of a situation for captain clutch to come through in

MattG says:

The answer to that fan poll question should be Gehrig and an inanimate rod.

Nice play, Salty.

Accent Shallow says:

On the one hand, Burnett hasn’t pitched up to his great stuff. He’s been inconsistent as hell.

That said, he’s settled down tonight, and I love that he sticks up for his teammates.

Drew says:

+1.
I’ll take 3 in 7 any day.
If I jinxed it I’ma be pissed.

dkidd says:

hughes/price match-up friday night should be fun

Charlie says:

is it illegal to say that in a way I actually feel bad for Big Papi a little?

Zack says:
Charlie says:

alright, lock me up cause i do for some reason

pat says:

Nah, by all accounts papi is a good guy who happened to beat us like rented mules. Steroids or not its kinda shame to see a guy like that struggling so much.

I still love it though, don’t get me wrong.

pc69 says:

Yes. he sold his soul to Manny PED’s. Without them, he doesn’t get to Mo in 2004.

Drew says:

Dave says:

Boo why does Porcello have to turn into a pumpkin facing the redsox.

Chip says:

Because Porcello isn’t going to be that good that soon. The league has a tendency of catching up to guys

Dave says:

Oh I know hes not going to light the world on fire at the age of 20, but I was just hoping he could carry his nice streak into Boston and shut them down for a game.

pat says:

yeah, he turned into a pumpkin while facing us so no biggie.

John says:

It’s the Francesa jinx. First Joba pitches into the 8th for the first time ever while allowing only 2 ERs and now Porcello stinks it up. Baseball Gods know whats right.

John says:

a 9-run lead is good for Veras and Tomko

Charlie says:

i would get burnett out of there. Hit hard twice in a row, over 100 pitches…

Dave says:

Still throwin 95 and got good movement

Chip says:

Let him get his seven and then let Tomko or some other scrub come in

Drew says:

I wouldn’t mind seeing him hit Cruz right here.
It would make me laugh.

Zack says:

Anyone notice Santana just lost to the Pirates?
