• Bill R

This is the most frustrating game ever!!!

  • Tom Zig

I wonder if A-rod is suffering from the “I’m a slow starter” syndrome right now.

    • Zach

or maybe “I still need secondary surgery on my hip but thanks for being aware of the situation”

  • Double T

I’m already grinding my teeth and it’s the 3rd inning c’mon guys!

  • John

well, CC didnt get that called strike 3 to Alex once yet in Gameday…BULLSHIT!

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

What about ball 3 to Pedroia? Looked like a strike.

      • John

and I thought it was just me…someone agrees

    • John

that ball 3 was a similar location but was a ball for CC

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

So, leadoff man on each inning and no runs. Awesome.

  • Slu

    Penny gets that call.

  • Jay J

Does anyone think umpires should be evaluated, and penalized for a certain amount of missed or bad calls? You know the Yankees will be back to winning 100 games if so.

    • pc69

Yes, but the Yankees need to quit playing with their heads up their asses and adjust.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Having nothing to do w/the Yankees, I am all for a very standardized, highly enforced strikezone.

      • Jay J

yeah, but will help some teams, and hurt some, it wouldnt hurt the yankees one bit.

        • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

No, it would absolutely help everyone. I think it’s stupid that both pitchers and hitters have to adjust their games around the umpire.

  • Double T

It seems the umpire has to really think about the Yankee strikezone or lack thereof and it’s like a automatic strike for the Sawx.

  • http://www.retire21.org Mike R. – Retire 21

The bats will wake up before the 7th inning. 0-0

  • Lily

this is the most frustrating team ever! with the calls the ump is giving penny and the calls he isn’t giving sabathia i don’t see how the yankees are going to win this game.

  • Accent Shallow

Things I’ll never get tired of seeing: Pedroia failing.

    • Slu

Papelbon blowing a save is another one.

      • http://www.retire21.org Mike R. – Retire 21

        Joba throwing at Youk.

  • Dorian

On a 2-3 count C.C induces pop up

  • Jay J

I’ve always been a fan of CC, i watched a lot of games he pitched last year, you can tell he is frustrated at not getting calls he was last year… and it’s all because he’s a yankee.

    • RichYF

Alright, the ump hasn’t been great but give me a break.

It’s not like he’s calling pitches in the other batter’s box a strike for Penny and calling pitches on the plate a ball for CC.

It’s just the BORDERLINE calls that CC isn’t getting. He’ll be fine. He’s a big boy. He’s pitching well. Penny is getting by on bullshit. We’ll punish him soon enough.

  • Hova

Fellas, the boys are 2 for 21 with RISP in this series. This is nuts. We were on fire on the way into this series. This has to be mental right? What the hell is going on.

    • John

combination of bad luck and bad play…50-50 imo

      • Lanny

Maybe its the pitching. Give some credit.

  • Dorian

2 stories like that and we think baseball matters that much.

  • Accent Shallow

How does a show involving Joe Buck get a tagline with the words “fresh” and “new” involved?

  • Double T

finally we got a call go our way!

  • John

gotta give props to CC for hanging in there while being squeezed

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Finally got a damn call.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      And another one.

  • Dorian

    HALLE-FUCKING-LUJAH

  • Jay J

Didnt get that call earlier, crew chief yell at the ump over the break?

    • John

nope, must have been during the AB since CC got squeezed twice in the inning already

  • Raf

good job CC. get that zone working for you too

  • Jay J

    CC!!!!!! YOU ARE MY DUDE!!!

  • Tank the Frank

I just thought I saw Youkilis shed a tear.

  • e mills

I don’t know if this makes much sense, but why not try batting A-Rod before Tex just to try and get him rolling and then switch back to the normal order…

    • John

nah, dont wanna mess with what Tex has going. A-rod will get through it, he is a good hitter…that BABIP correction still hasn’t kicked in yet.

  • Double T

Of course Puke will complain everyone knows he has PERFECT recognition of the strike zone. He is a Red Sox after all and they practice that in spring training.

  • Dorian

Give Carsten an Effing lead and this game is over.

  • dkidd

enjoy racism and freezing rain in june? come to massachusetts!

  • Jay J

its about this time of the year, CC gets the stone cold killer look in his eyes.

  • Jobamania

are you guys really surprised? I saw penny dominating us from a mile away

    • Tank the Frank

      Less domination… more RISP fail.

    • RichYF

3 innings does not a complete game make. Stop QQing.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

He’s at 67 pitches in the third, hardly dominating.

      • Tom Zig

I’d say we are beating ourselves.

      • Jobamania

we look pretty weak in front of him, its not like we’re hitting balls hard.

  • Tank the Frank

Hey at least we’re winning the CT Lottery drawing against the Red Sox. That’s way more important IMO.

  • Raf

Penny isnt getting that 100 tonight

  • Jobamania

    Cano is really agitating me

  • Accent Shallow

That ball looked well struck. So it goes.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      So it goes.

      I love you.

      • Accent Shallow

I’m flattered, but you’re not my type.

      • V

        Slaughterhouse Five?

  • Manimal

49 pitches through 3 is alot, but he could still go a solid 7 innings.

  • bryanh

for being employed by the Yankee owned tv network flaherty has gotta be the biggest redsox asskisser going.

    • Double T

but they are soooo good how can you not be a fan of them???

  • pc69

    Cano is NOT a #5 hitter…

    • Raf

yea its time for him to flip with Posada. Girardi likes the alternating lineup but Cano is slumping big and Arod can be pitched around

      • RichYF

Yeah, but what about when Jorge has a day off?

Swisher? Melky? Matsui? Swisher is hitting the best out of that group and I don’t have much faith in him right now to be honest..

  • John

damn, the Yanks have had only one groundout all game

  • RichYF

OMG A BORDERLINE CALL WENT AGAINST THE SOX!!! THE UMPS ARE TOTALLY OUT TO GET THE YANKS!!!!

    • John

eh i wanna see it more often, then it might even out

  • Jay J

Penny didnt get that call, and that was closer than the 10 he got before… this looks better.

  • Dorian

Later in the season we will laugh about Swish’s ridiculous baserunning gaffes. But tonight that shit is not funny at all.

  • Dorian

When does Swish have a bad AB?

    • RichYF

      When he does that..

      • Dorian

Strikeout doesn’t constitute a bad AB

  • Jay J

I’m used to them making fun of Kay’s head while we’re winning, while losing… it’s not as funny.

  • Accent Shallow

Seeing as how the Red Sox would like you to think that they’ve never taken a legitimate strike 3, I have to think that whining at the ump is an organizational strategy, with the goal of convincing the umps to give them more borderline pitches.

    • Double T

      +1

    • John

yea, it puts fear into the umps but if the yanks ever even hint at complaining, they will get squeezed even more next time.

    • Tank the Frank

The Yanks have the same strategy. Other team’s fans think we get all the calls b/c we’re the Yankees, believe it or not. Have you ever seen Jeter strike out looking?

      • Accent Shallow

Everyone complains from time to time, just everyone on the Sox does it, every single time. Maybe they don’t do it when they’re playing other teams?

    • Whitey14

Yes, because everybody knows that the more you complain to the umpires the more calls you get ;-)

      • Accent Shallow

See, this is the part I can’t figure out — either it’s an organizational strategy, or the team happens to employ a lot of talented crybabies.

      • Lanny

Its an ump conspiracy. Them and ESPN are at it again, huh???

        • Accent Shallow

          A sarcasm detector . . . now there’s a real useful invention.

  • Double T

    standing O for Pedroia

  • dkidd

    grit gem!

  • Tom Zig

How does such a small guy have so much range?

  • http://www.retire21.org Mike R. – Retire 21

    BUNT!

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Everyone’s fawning over that play by Pedroia but throwing that ball was a bad choice.

  • yankeegirl49

Brad freakin Penny? Really??? Brad Penny?? WTF??????????

  • Jay J

seems he has range, but playing that far back and close to the bag…

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Awful camerawork by YES there.

  • Zach

    great range by green

  • BigBlueAL

Big at-bat now……and its Cervelli up.

  • RichYF

That looked exactly like the “base hit” that the Sox got vs. Wanger yesterday.

  • Jobamania

I vote for trying Cano in the 2 hole again, the day he was in the 2 hole he had a HUGE game.

    Jeter
    Cano
    Damon
    Teix
    Arod
    Posada
    Matsui
    Swisher
    Cabrera

    • John

nah, i like him in 6th, where he is at his best

  • dkidd

    lowell is a statue

    • Zach

dont hit it at the statue

  • John

    cmon frankie

  • giselle
  • Ivan

Come on Cevelli, get the big hit.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

    Work that count Cervelli.

  • Dela D

Man we are finally getting things going!

  • Accent Shallow

Live by the soft ground ball, die by the soft ground ball.

    • giselle

      cervelli’s was hard hit.

  • Jay J

    Red Sox to do List.

    1. Get Lucky
    2. Be Racist
    3. Cry to the umps for 100 years

    • dkidd

      ietc

    • John

mam, they do that every game!!! such a good fundamental team

  • dkidd

if lowell and matsui collided, they would both shatter like SLJ in unbreakable

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

This game is so much more frustrating than last night’s or the game against Bekcett.

  • Lily

five hits runners in scoring position and we can’t score. thats how you know we’re going to lose. when you can’t do things to get a win your not going to win.

    • e mills

      nah, they got this

  • Dela G

    unbelievable

  • Ivan

2 for 22 in RISP. That’s not possible with this offense.

    • Dela G

its possible when the hitters decide to swing at schlop

    • Tom Zig

actually its 2-23, but yeah I see what you mean

  • Tom Zig

    New rule:

The Yankees are allowed to pinch run any player they want with Brett Gardner as many times as they want, as long as that player is on first.

It would eliminate our lack of hitting with RISP and we’d still score plenty of runs.

    • Jobamania

All we do is pinch run Gardner who doesn’t steal.
      stupid

      • JobaWockeeZ

Oh come on really this is tiring already. I’d rather have Gardner not stealing replacing Matsui and Jorge in the basepath. I forget who he took over but I really don’t care unless it was another DP.

        • Jobamania

          He pinch ran for swisher.

Like swisher couldn’t have advanced to second on bunt? get real

  • Jay J

look at the free hit wall out there… it’s so big… just dont hit it with a ball.

  • Dela G

we should be owning this clown of a pitcher, not helping him out

  • Jobamania

All we’re doing is driving up Penny’s trade value

    • Tank the Frank

To be fair, Penny has looked good tonight. Good live fastball, locating it well, good curve and splitter.

That’s just how it’s been against the Sox this year.

  • BklynJT

On top of that we gave up a hr to Ortiz… Can the day get any worse

    • Dela G

trust me, the yankees will break out of this!

  • Lily

    how bout cano

  • Raf

    nice play robbie

  • giselle

Cano to Pedroia: That’s how you do it, kid.

    • Whitey14

Pedroia back to Cano: Wanna hold my Gold Glove, or my ROY, or my MVP? ;-)

  • Jay J

    Cano’s Range > Pedroia’s safety Range

  • RichYF

That goddamned lazy Dominican. I KNEW we should have traded him during the offseason…

    • Ivan

      And he’s always smiling.

  • dkidd

    he’s like a lazy pedroia

  • Tom Zig

    Cano flashing some leather

  • John

    beat that PEDroia

  • BigBlueAL

Nice play by Cano, but he reminds me alot of Jeter in terms of both seem to have MUCH better range to their backhand side than their glove side which is not the norm.

    • Accent Shallow

If he could take a walk every once in awhile, he’d be a lefty-hitting Jeter, practically.

  • BklynJT

but but but robbie’s lazy and shouldn’t he be bringing his slump out to the field on defense!!

  • Manimal

Because of this series, I’m running out of nails to bite.

    • JobaWockeeZ

Let’s hope they grow when we destroy the Mets.

  • Double T

CC is starting to heat up he will hold us down.

  • Nick L

I thought Robbie didn’t dive for balls, at least that’s what Mike Francesca said today

    • Zach

Hunter Jones and Michael Bowden are flamethrowers

  • Jay J

There ya go One-Nut, look stupid like u always should.

  • Dela G

good lord, CC is mowing everyone down

  • Accent Shallow

Here’s hoping that whatever Wang is drinking is full of steroids.

    Or “throw quality strikes” juice

  • Raf

i read someone last night say that the Yankees didnt have Wang working his legs out this offseason because of his injury. was that actually true?

    • JobaWockeeZ

I think. We had an article on how the did this during the offseason I believe.

    • A.D.

I had heard the same, they told Bruney & Wang both not to work out the legs.

    • BigBlueAL

Yeah Cashman admitted to that in an interview.

    • Nick L

yea I read that to, I think Cash and others told him not to.

      • Raf

man that doesnt sound right for a pitcher. obviously his injury was the reason but they couldnt expect him to come back with all his strength

        • Accent Shallow

Yeah. It’s really hard to fathom that a team wouldn’t know how to treat this injury.

  • BigBlueAL

Look at those numbers for Papi, why am I not surprised.

  • Jamal G.

Best velocity of the year for CC – he’s touching 97-98 MPH.

    • BigBlueAL

Thats why I love you Jamal, every comment is a positive one from you!!!! LOL

    • A.D.

Or just the most generous gun of the year.

  • BklynJT

The Yankees are PEDS to Ortiz

  • Lanny

Still a brilliant decision to have Berroa on the roster. Why not a 3rd catcher so Posada could DH everytime he doesn’t start? But hey thats actually thinking for Yankee Front Office types.

  • Jay J

wang is drinking, Unleash Hughes Juice

  • RichYF

That just made me giggle so much.

  • Tom Zig

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME

  • pat

    hahaha too funny

  • Raf

    oh WTF

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Are you fuckin’ kidding me?

  • Jobamania

    wow, are you kidding me

  • Double T

    wow

  • JobaWockeeZ

    …COME ON.

  • A.D.

    Jesus

  • mustang

    This is just funny now.

  • Tank the Frank

You know what…. I’ve officially seen enough. We’re a fucking little league team out there. I hope eating pies at kangaroo court was fun.

  • Jay J

Damon… you want to stay a yankee, and you… are replaceable.

    • Dela G

      no he’s not…

    • Tom Zig

Every Red Sox player complains at a called strike 3

  • Double T

He didn’t lose it in the lights you mlb network idiots he just flat out dropped the ball.

  • Nick L

    Aww man that sucks

  • Dela G

    wtf damon….

  • Dorian

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST CATCH THE DAM BALL.

  • Hova

Yup, its mental. This fcuking Red Sox team is in our head. This is ridiculous. Bad pitching, bad hitting and now bad fielding? You gotta be kidding me.

    • Zach

      yeah CC is sucking tonight

      • Hova

CC doesn’t count. He’s superhuman. Haha. He has been the sole highlight of this series.

      • JobaWockeeZ

        What a bust.

    • Accent Shallow

      Relax, it’s 1-0.

    • Zach

and they didnt have 7 straight games with an error before they played boston

    • Tank the Frank

      Don’t forget baserunning!!!

  • Zach

David Ortiz’s greatness made Damon drop it, standing ovation!

  • Longo

and ortiz’s fat ass only ends up on first- great job outa PAPIIII

  • A.D.

Do the Yanks lead the league in runners stranded?

  • pc69

The fundamentals of baseball still missing from the Yankees. That is just NOT acceptable.

    • Dela G

dude they had the longest errorless streak in the histroy of baseball… they will be ok defensively

      • pc69

I realize that but it means nothing when they have had at least 1 error every game since and stupid mental errors like getting doubled off second.

  • Jay J

Well, this is what the Red Sox need to win. Can;t win a good game, need errors and luck.

  • John

    wow make CC waste pitches

    • Zach

yeah those 3 pitches will come back to haunt him later

      • John

it could’ve been worse with the way its been going for us and those 3 pitches are still wasted nonetheless

  • yankeegirl49

unreal..just unreal. This team is like a really bad B horror movie right now.

    • pc69

They are not even that good.

  • Accent Shallow

At least the D picked up Johnny there.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Lucky, CC only had to throw three extra pitches.

    • bxpd

Can any of the guys we drafted catch a fly ball?

  • Jake H

Does this team have no focus?

  • JobaWockeeZ

    DFA Damon?

  • giselle

only at fenway. the red sox really do get into the yankees’ heads. how else would you explain a good team losing to a bunch of scrubs?

  • BigBlueAL

Top of the order up for the Yankees, if not now than when damnit!!

  • Double T

2 extra pitches guys no big deal, we will score some runs this inning.

  • Dorian

I hate everytime Fatcessa talks about the Sox bein in our heads but with some of the things that are happening, do you give it SOME credence?

    • Zach

      No

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      No.

    • Tank the Frank

If we lose tonight, I do.

    • Ivan

Francesa is loud mouth fat ass. Of course he would say some BS like that.

    • Accent Shallow

No. The media’s always looking to fit a narrative to what happened. Doesn’t mean it’s the case.

I’ll believe it if I hear it from the players/manager.

    • Dela G

      no

  • BklynJT

Imagine if the Yankees go from the longest errorless streak to the longest error streak.

    • Hova

What is the longest error streak?

  • Jay J

i think Girardi needs to start benching players, embarass someone… other teams do it.

    • Zach

veterans already dont like Girardi, embarassing them is really going to help

  • RichYF

These Yanks-Sox series really up the QQ factor in the comments section of game threads…

  • John

im actually surprised that didn’t come back to haunt us

  • Jobamania

Girardi should bench himself first and foremost

  • pc69

I think Girardi should start fining guys $5000 for every fundamental lapse they make. Not errors but stupid shit like Damon’s drop or Swisher getting doubled off or guys giving up and running to first like Steroitiz!

  • DGeezy

we’ve played bad defense, had errors on the basepaths, had horrendous pitching & poor hitting with RISP. just ONE of these could cost us a game especially against the red sox but in this series we’ve done NOTHING RIGHT

  • BigBlueAL

How bad are the White Sox that Podsednik is their starting CF now.

    • Jobamania

left fielder, and he’s not doing a bad job.

    • Ivan

I laugh when u wrote that.

  • Nick L

its still 1-0, lets get some runs here.

  • dkidd

    jeter’s getting on

    • BklynJT

      =/

  • teix is the man

Penny kinda looks like Kevin from The Office

    • dkidd

      wakefield = creed

      • giselle

        hahah, so true!

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Jeter’s timing is off. He’s fouling off many good pitches to hit he’s seen this series.

    • Jobamania

      another groundball to pedroia, CMON

      • Jobamania

woopos, not sure why it posted here.

  • Jobamania

i’m sick and tired of seeing groundballs or lazy flyballs.

  • Hova

Zach, your optimism is greatly appreciated. But seriously, you need to take your tongue out of the Yankees ass and stop defending every single thing they do wrong or make excuses for everything. Its ok to be critical and a realist. That doesn’t automatically mean you’re a Yankee hater or a pessimist. And it also doesn’t make you their greatest fan for trying to defend everything.

    • Zach

I like your mature response to my optimism.

But oohh no the red sox are in their heads!!! we’re never going to win ever!1! ahhh we’re screwed

      • Hova

No one said that. But I read through each one of your comments, and all you do is follow up with some smart-ass pseudo optimistic comment. Maybe you’re trying to impress everyone on the thread about what a super-fan you are.

I just have to let you know that the Yankees aren’t going to hire you or send you a gold star for defending everything they do wrong or providing sarcastic comments to other people’s posts. If you thought they were going to send you something, I’m sorry I had to break the news to you.

        • Zach

Do you see the posts I comment on? People flipping out because ball 1, people flipping out because red sox are in their heads, people flipping out because this team has no heart, etc.

its total bullshit, so instead of talking shit to me watch the game and have a rational conversation about the game not stupid ass comments people make

          • Hova

I could see the Phillies trading for Penny if they can’t get Peavy or Oswalt. They desperately need another starting pitcher and will be neck and neck with that Mets team til the end of the season.

    • John

I criticize a bit while being optimistic

  • John

we will bring the winning run to the plate!

  • BklynJT

Damon usually makes up for his mistakes

  • Jay J

thats how u make up for it Johnny.

  • Reggie C.

I’m in awe of the Mets. How did that hack lineup beat the RS??

    • Jobamania

Mets play very well against good teams. They have the grit-gamer mode

      • Zach

        omir santos

  • Dela G

i am predicting the yankees have a huge 5th or 6th inning

    • pc69

      better hope for the 6th

  • pc69

5 hit shutout by Fat Penny. Sad.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

I love the 94 MPH breaking ball.

  • Raf

Penny’s trade value is going through the roof tonight.

    • Zach

no its not, he’s a 5th starter- what team looking to make the playoffs is going to give up something for penny?

  • Lily

we can’t score against penny is this team serious?????

  • Tank the Frank

This is just an example of a gritty, gutty, under the radar, low risk – high reward signing beating out the Yankees overpriced free agents.

Oh shit no. ESPN will definitely be saying this.

      • Dorian

        They are winners.

  • Jay J

Yankees good inning is the 7th inning. All im lookin forward to right now… unless Tex or A-Rod Bomb one!!

  • BigBlueAL

Penny in line to start the All-Star Game. If not him than Wakefield for sure.

    • Reggie C.

Theo is going to squeeze this performance for every last drop of leverage to trade Penny for a big hitter.

      • Zach

I hope thats sarcasm, I’m sure a lot of GMs are lining up to give any a big hitter for Brad Penny

    • Tank the Frank

Buchholz should be in the All-Star game based on his minor league numbers and his no-hitter two years ago.

  • Jobamania

this is just sad, i can already view the NY post headlines in my head.

C.C. BUST, ORTIZ TORMENTS THE YANKEES AGAIN.

YANKEES WHO? RED SOX NATION SWEEPS THE YANKEES OUT OF TOWN

  • pc69

Kay cracks me up, “its an official game”, like if fucking matters.

This keeps up the Yankees are going to have to change the bat in their logo to a broom.

    • Jobamania

it does matter, RAIN is in the forecast.

    • JobaWockeeZ

      It does fucking matter.
If the game rains out we lose without a chance of coming back.

      • pc69

guys, I am not giving up but are you watching the same game that I am watching where CC is pitching well and the Yankees are getting 5 hit shutout by Brad Penny, with no serious threats?

        • handtius

No serious threats? they’ve had people on in every inning.

          • pc69

And aside from Jeter going to 3rd in the first inning who else has.

Swisher leads off with a double, Grandpa Matsui walks – next hitter out, then DP

3rd – single, SO, FO, SO
4th – FO, SO, Single, Single (still not at 3rd) GO
            5th – GO, GO, FO

WHERE is the serious threat? that there have been 3 runners total that have made it to second base?

        • John

it doesn’t help being 0-6 with RISP

  • Ivan

That’s depressing that the yanks can get SO for 5 innings by Brad Penny. U wanna bet his next start, Penny gives up 7 ER in like 3 innings.

    • JobaWockeeZ

We’re not hitting is curve. They’re right down the middle but no one is swinging. Jeter did though.

  • Jake H

Why can’t this team get a hit with risp?

  • Jake H

2 for 22 with risp in the series. That is just pathetic.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Chances are this will correct itself in the next series.

      • JobaWockeeZ

The law of averages will have us dominate the Mets.

      • pc69

Better hope so, NY Press will have a field day if the Yankees look this bad against the Mets.

  • http://theyankeebomber.blogspot.com Conan

Is it me, or do the Yankee bats struggle when CC is on the mound?

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

He’s getting 5.08 runs of support per game so, yea, it’s just you. ;)

    • Zach

They’ve score 5.08 runs a game for him this year, not counting tonight because its obviously not over. They scored 3 runs or less 4 times

      • http://theyankeebomber.blogspot.com Conan

So it’s just me some of the time – LOL.

  • YankeeScribe

    The Yankees are cursed

  • Jay J

no aggressive swinging. Girardi too busy trying to get a runner on to Bunt.

    • JobaWockeeZ

      So today’s scapegoat is Girardi?

      • Reggie C.

        we lost already?

        • JobaWockeeZ

Didn’t you hear the new rule? Whenever the Red Sox score we lose despite the inning they are in.

    • Jobamania

you mean pinch run gardner and then bunt him over to 2nd?

  • JobaWockeeZ

    Nice DP.

  • Raf

    alright finally a DP.

  • John

Could it be that our bats are trying to do too much by maybe swinging for HRs everytime to get a lead?

It doesn’t help that our pitchers put us in a deep hole (except CC).

  • Drew

    We can’t beat good teams

    • A.D.

So is Boston & Philly the only good teams we’ve faced this year?

      • JobaWockeeZ

I would think the Tigers, Angels, and Rays are good teams. But I think he was sarcastic.

        • A.D.

          Toronto

  • Jay J

    Today’s scapegoat… Suicide squeeze attempt.

  • Ivan

    Nice job Pete Abe:

UPDATE, 8:37 p.m.: Embarrassing moment for Damon there. Too bad he didn’t catch it, Ortiz would have gotten another curtain call for making contact.

  • Dorian

They do the things that are necessary to win. They move the runner over, they make the simple plays, and they fight for each other. They will themselves to victory or they can stay in the game long enough to come back in the end. They can stand a bad start because they have that outstanding bullpen from top to bottom.

    Ravech’d

And ya know jus like ya said they do all the little things. They aren’t the most athletic guys but they play hard everyday. The guys like Youkilis and Pedroia and Varitek set the tone for that team and the rest of the guys follow. They are a well run organization and they show that you don’t need to spend a gazillion dollars to win a championship

    • Dorian

      The last paragraph is Kruk

    • Ivan

And the Sox nut in my mouth and it tatse good.

      Ravech’d

  • JobaWockeeZ

    We get a call!

  • Jobamania

    Lol Pedroia crying.

    sit down midget

  • E-ROC

It’s good to see CC get these borderline calls.

  • e mills

let’s get some runs so everyone stops bitching

  • Jay J

    Pedroia… crying again… surprised…

  • handtius

Little Dustin is such a fighter, no strike out is ever a strike out in his mind.

  • Tom Zig

    Sox players complain alot

  • Jay J

thats not borderline, red sox used to watching penny get balls called strikes.

  • http://www.retire21.org Mike R. – Retire 21

    This is the inning!

    • JobaWockeeZ

Maybe next inning because Penny is probably out.

    • handtius

      +1

  • Jay J

Kevin Long… does he need a hug.. or a beating?

    • handtius

      neither.

  • teix is the man

Brad Penny is the epitome of a workhouse…..Unlike the overpaid Sabathia
    -Ravech’d

  • Jobamania

why is flaherty drooling over penny?

    • JobaWockeeZ

Drooling? He’s been good. What the hell is he supposed to say, he’s being fair.

    • Zach

Because he was the third best free agent signing, trailing only John Smoltz and Rocco Baldelli

      • John

        dont forget Saito

      • JobaWockeeZ

The Yankees of course rely on high priced free agents that are all busts. I’d rather take Rocco Baldelli, John Smoltz and Brad Penny over CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett and Mark Teixeira any day.

    • handtius

So, he’s not being a yankee bias announcer, that make him a drooler.

      • Jobamania

theres a difference between bias and applauding every pitch a guy makes

        • handtius

          He’s not doing that.

        • JobaWockeeZ

          Which he hasn’t =/
He’s actually hit the corners which our first two starters of the series couldn’t do. Mute the game for all we care.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

The Yankees must not be seeing the ball too well out of Penny’s hand ’cause it seems like their timing is really ‘meh’ tonight.

  • DGeezy

arod is killin us, i dont think he has a hit all series

  • BigBlueAL

Arod w/o one fucking hit this series.

  • Jake H

Why do all the Yankees seem to think that they can swing at pitches that are shoulder high?

  • Jay J

standing ovation for Bay. What a genius.

  • http://theyankeebomber.blogspot.com Conan

There’s a Cano sighting…go figure, a hit with no men on

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Wow, Pedroia didn’t dive for diving’s sake?! Is he okay!?

  • Jobamania

ofcourse cano gets a base hit now

    unreal.

    • JobaWockeeZ

Because this situation is the same exact ones as all the previous ones.

  • Jay J

I’m going to play Enter Sandman repeatedly, until Mo comes into the game…

    • John

hope it works…i’ll try it too

    • Accent Shallow

Yeah, because the issue this game has been the pitching . . .

      • John

i dont think you got it, he’s waiting and hoping for a lead for Mo

  • dkidd

come on swish. you’ve taketh away, now giveth

  • King of Fruitless Hypotheticals

    MARK MY WORDS

Yanks bring tying run to the plate tonight.

    • Marcus

      IETC

    • A.D.

      ietc

    • John

they’ve one up’ed that, bringing the winning run to the plate!

  • Matthew

I never thought I would see the “Yankees” owned by the Red Sox in my lifetime. It is kinda funny.LOL.

    • Marcus

Apparently you were “born” in November 2004.

  • BigBlueAL

91 MPH slow curve by Penny.

    • BigBlueAL

Another 91 MPH sow curve by Penny, this one in the dirt.

    • http://anewfrontier.wordpress.com Pablo Zevallos

      Put him in the 8th.

  • JobaWockeeZ

Someone needs to actually swing the bat.

  • pat

Ah well almost good analysis ken, u were close.

  • Jobamania

    can godzilla come through?

    • pc69

      Nope!

      • JobaWockeeZ

Great confidence for your team when the AB isn’t over. I hope Matsui sends his foot through you’re mouth.

        • pc69

If it means tying the game I hope so too. But he is old and slow.

  • Jay J

    thanks Nick.

  • Andy Stankiewicz

Swisher is a bum. Cashman better start working the phone lines for an outfielder asap. Don’t give me that Nady crap either. His next throw in a real game will be his last.

  • http://theyankeebomber.blogspot.com Conan

    just a bloop, please

  • John

    cmon Matsui…another RISP opportunity!

  • JobaWockeeZ

This game is so frustrating that I want to see Lanny/Axl/Bo say their comments. They are actually more constructive than some posts I am seeing tonight.

    • pat

dude thats so sad, don’t feed the trolls.

  • Jay J

can’t turn on a brad penny fastball… more annoying than i thought.

  • pat

lets hope they trade penny and smoltz fucking sucks.

    • Raf

penny has kinda sucked outside of this game

  • JobaWockeeZ

Uhm did Sox fans think that was a strikeout already?

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Hideki the bucket-stepper.

  • http://www.retire21.org Mike R. – Retire 21

Why do they cheer foul balls in Boston?

    • John

      positivity

  • http://theyankeebomber.blogspot.com Conan

Matsui, please step toward the pitch

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Aaaaaaaand here comes the Varitek dick sucking.

  • Dorian

O god. An ode to Varitek.

  • BigBlueAL

Damn Penny dialed up that curve in the dirt to 94 MPH.

  • Raf

    damn so close

  • Jay J

    why can’t we get lucky?

  • kunaldo

this RISP problem boggles my mind…how can we be so bad for so long? last year we were really bad, and this year we’re not doing well…i tend to believe it’s a factor of luck for the most part, that over time your numbers w/ RISP should just about match your career numbers…

but, maybe it is a matter of pressing…

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Umm…that bounced over the base. Isn’t that a fair ball?

    • Double T

      that’s what I thought.

  • Jobamania

    penny has a big butt

  • http://www.retire21.org Mike R. – Retire 21

    FAIR BALL!!!!!!!!!!! MOTHER FUCKER!!!!

  • Accent Shallow

Another curve at 94. Who does he think he is, Strasburg?

  • Andy Stankiewicz

Wow, Penny just added to the legend that is Theo Epstein. Theo knows that a great pitching,a solid bullpen and grit are the keys to victory.

  • Jobamania

    more strike outs looking

    2-24, what a JOKE

  • BIG BOY

another runner left in scoring position.

  • Raf

shit man. 6 innings of shutout ball by Penny. unbelievable

  • BigBlueAL

    Why am I not surprised.

  • Jay J

thats not high at all. PSYCHE!!

  • kunaldo

    i can’t take this…i really can’t

  • JobaWockeeZ

And Penny is out. We’re scoring 10 runs this inning.
