In 2003, the Sox had nearly caught up to the Yanks, but not quite, just short. The Yanks had that extra bit that would win them 51 games out of 100 over the Sox, and that one extra would be when it counted. Neither team is perfect, they've both got some glaring holes, but these two teams are the best in baseball. All of these games could have gone one way or the other. Closely matched, with a tiny edge to the Sox this year. I honestly think that it comes down to the front office putting the right guys on the field. The Sox have a team, the Yanks have a bunch of mercenary ringers. This will be close, and as a Sox fan, I'm not looking forward to September/October when we're neck and neck. I'm rooting for my team, but I predict a nasty postseason series. May the best team win. I was thinking along those same lines. The ONLY good thing out of tonight was ironically the great pitching of Brad Penny (horrible offense of the Yankees) because they have Clay Buchholz and John Smoltz waiting to come up and they can't really get rid of such good pitching. Girardi is ruining the Yankees...the Yankees are again underachieving...and it's back to pure embarrassment. Hate me all you want...it's not going to change the embarrassment. Remember that.
