On Joba not being on his way onto being a top starter (that is, responding to a comment that implied that Joba was not):
As do most 23-year-old starting pitchers. David Price didn’t get out of the 6th when he had his 11 K game.
But he’s still a lot further on that road [to being a top-flight starter] than most 23-year-old starting pitchers. And he’s closer to being a top rated starter than, say, the pitcher he’s facing tonight.
He’ll be fine. There’s only one Rick Ankiel.
And now Al Leiter is running off his mouth on things he doesn’t really understand, God bless him.
I want Joba in the Starting Rotation because his potential is being the best pitcher in baseball. I want him in the rotation because he has 4 plus pitches. Don’t talk about me being a B-Jobber. Just because I have a problem with the way he pitched tonight doesn’t mean I want in the bullpen.
Jeez, these negative nancies on here drive me nuts. Somedays it’s just brutal on here. We get it, Joba couldn’t get to strike three, he went 4 innings. It’s not 13-2 right now.
—-
We’re winning.
If baseball blogs were popular in 1998, there would probably be people complaining about that Yankees team. In the first week people probably would have been saying they were done and had no chance to win.
This isn’t the NFL. Every game is not a must-win. Good teams sometimes run into rough patches, and go on losing streaks.
No one likes to see a four-game losing streak. I’d rather not. If the Yankees don’t win tonight, though, it’s not the end of the world. This isn’t a must-win game. It’s not Game 5 of the ALDS, Game 7 of the ALCS, or Game 7 of the World Series, nor a regular season (or postseason) elimination game.
…I’m not going to take this comment back, because I still think the Yankees are going to put more than 3 runs up on that board. But this *is* a little ridiculous…
I know, I’m not even saying we should bench him, since obviously we can’t. Its more about Swish getting his head screwed on right, if that’s even possible.
You start to realize why a guy plays on 3 teams in 3 years when you see shit like this.
The only way I keep Shelly on the roster is as a NHL style ‘goon’. Our version of the Rangers’ Jeff Beukeboom, a guy who does all our dirty work for us and spends half the year suspended for one reason or another.
Ok. Base running and fielding blunders happen. But this is getting ridiculous. Stop being concerned with being a nice guy and go out and MAKE THE PLAYS. Look at Paul O’Neill. Total Prick. Good ball player and didn’t make an ass of himself.
I understand that we are winning. But if you want to celebrate steps that are taken during his development even when he comes out losing a game (last week). We have to be discouraged when he doesn’t progress in his development (tonight).
I would much rather see Joba get bombed than watch him walk the ballpark. He has no reason to be afraid of bats, and he eliminates the ability of the hitter to get himself out.
By the way, now we have Brett Tomko for 2-3 innings.
Mother FUCKER, fucking Brett Tomko is absolutely awful. Not many major league clubs would carry that fucking scrub on their roster and put him in a close game. ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC.
Why can’t Joba throw more than 100 pitches? A starting pitcher should be able to give 120-130 pitches if needed. Think the Yanks could have gotten an extra inning from Joba.
He also only gave up one hit. I’m all for protecting Joba, but I think this was overkill. He’s a starting pitcher and wasn’t gassed. If 43 pitches was so much he should have been pulled in the third.
After a culture that abused starter’s arms, the pendulum has swung back too far the other way.
This is why I want Joba throwing fastballs. Keep the pitch count down and keep him in the game. He was aggressive against the Rays and he lasted 6 innings. Tonight he nibbles and throws breaking balls and he is out in the 4th.
i’m gonna fucking kill myself. This is disgusting bull shit, FUCK YOU CASHMAN!! FUCK YOU GIRARDI! AND FUCK YOU BRETT TOMKO. YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN DFA’D A MONTH AGO. HOW THE FUCK DO WE TRUST THIS PRICK WITH A LEAD?? OH MY FUCKING GOD, ITS HARD TO WATCH THIS TEAM LATELY.
Okay, so I don’t think Joba should be in the bullpen, but we need bullpen help now. We don’t have a single reliever that can be consistently counted on. It is bullpen roulette.
Any one of us could manage this game once the starter leaves. It is literally just: Throw somebody out there, hope they get outs, repeat until the 9th inning.
this umpire is one of the worst i’ve seen. he’s been calling outside pitches on lefties strikes, but the same location for righties balls. Where’s the freaking consistency?
Third game out of our pitchers don’t go at least five innings. Third game out of four we give up six runs by the 5th inning. No way you can win in little league with those numbers. Three out of six runs because of walks and hit batsman. I’m just not seeing development from this group. Worse, the over 30 (or near 30) signed free agents (Kevin Brown, Jaret Wright, Carl Pavano, Kei Igawa, Sidney Ponson, Randy Johnson, Any Pettitte) have never worked out. Who is going to pitch the next four innings?
Girardi did so well managing the bullpen last year because the bullpen did exceptionally well. This year, guys are faltering, and Girardi has no idea what to do.
Yep, a bullpen that doesn’t perform makes a manager look dumb in a hurry, because fans are all geniuses after the fact. Managers of course, don’t have the luxury of knowing the result before making the move.
Classic second guessing, and an opinion not to be taken seriously.
This is not second guessing, this is proving a weakness in Girardi’s managerial talents. This year he has overused Coke, just like Torre overused Proctor.
Torre had seven guys in his bullpen, but consistently relied on two or three. If we don’t find bullpen help soon, Girardi is going to have no choice but to do the same thing. Even if a guy falters, if Girardi considers him reliable he’s gonna have to go to him again. Robertson shouldn’t be pitching more than an inning, but might go three tonight. Same thing with Coke.
I’d like to know who the other ‘Artist’ is around here. Not that its a big deal, its just confusing because I backtrack to see responses to stuff I write, and it gets confusing.
I changed my name from “Steve” for that exact reason, because there were about 5 Steve’s here at the time.
Then stop fucking watching. My fucking Mo, it’s a three run lead, not 13. If you really don’t think the Yankees can come back from a three run lead, in this stadium, with that lineup, then you’re clearly not watching.
Matt, don’t get mad. Just tell him Mom he’s surfing for porn on her computer. That should get him grounded for at least a month with no computer privileges.
Yeah he basically walked all his runs in. In that inning he didn’t allow a hit but 2 runs were scored.
Then Tomko had to go fuck everything up.
But we should start pounding sooner or later.
The Yankees should just go get a starter and put Joba in the pen.Look at Livian Hernadez. He sucks but has been pitching great for the Mets and against the Yankees. And no more Davis Price Joba comparisions.
David Price is a all-around first round draft pick phenom starting pitcher last year and Joba is a second round pick who fell in the draft for being to fat and injury prone.Put Joba where Goose Gossage said he should be…..the pen.IT’s easy to get a starter to have a 4 Era and be a innings eater.
I’m actually in favor of moving Wang to the bullpen because he only had like 3 appearances in the bullpen so he can work his way back to starting if his start against the Nationals/Marlins goes bad again. I don’t know why but I don’t like Tomko at all.
Not going to take anything away from Lester, because he’s a damned good pitcher, but there are a lot of lefties in that Philly lineup. It’s not the same lineup against left-handed starters that it is against right-handed starters.
That said, it’s still a damned fine lineup, and in that park, it’s quite a pitching performance. Can’t wait until next year, when we’ll be able to watch Hughes and Joba spinning performances like that on a regular basis.
Anyone seen david robertson’s numbers, cause they’re pretty effin good. The guy pumps strikes and can actually gets out, we should be using him in much higher leverage situations than those that he’s been used for.
In all seriousness guys should we consider letting Dave Eiland go? I mean our offense has been amazing, but we can’t seem to get the pitching when we need it. I’m starting to get frustrated.
I used to think that to, but there’s nothing he can do when the pitchers don’t throw strikes. At the same time there is always going to be a scapegoat, it may or may not be him.
At some point, Dave Eiland has to take the heat for all these walks. It’s pretty inexcusable for a staff like this to be walking a zillion guys a game.
I love Robertson, but he does have a known walk problem (that has improved).
I think the reason his has improved is because he’s not throwing his curveball basically ever, but for him to succeed going forward that’s going to have to change.
(As I say that he throws two, but they were both out of the zone–it’s a beautiful pitch but he’s got to get a better feel for throwing it for strikes)
Isnt Leo Mazzone available??? He nearly became the Yankees pitching coach for the 06 season before turning down the offer and going to Baltimore to go with his best friend who didnt even last 2 seasons in Baltimore.
We chose Randy Johnson at the time over Beltran. At the time it seemed like a smart move and it was refreshing to everyone that we weren’t signing every single guy.
I see Manuel no longer makes the pitcher he is taking out wait on the mound til the new pitcher arrives. That was such a stupid thing he tried to implement last season when he took over.
Oops, I thought the Yankees were playing with the “As soon as the Yankees’ starting pitcher is removed from the game, the Yankees automatically forfeit” rule. Sorry about that.
But they must be playing with that rule this season, because I can’t remember a single game the Yankees have won after being behind early…
Eh. If you think this is bad just remember what it was like with Hughes and Kennedy last year. This is not as bad. He has kept them in the game.
So he’s not coming out again right?
he is.
Damn Leiter says no. I thought he would.
He is not.
I think Joba is going to go batter to batter in the 5th. I hope he can settle down and finish off the heart of their order.
I’d hope. I have more confidence in him against the big bats opposed to Tomko.
I am tired of this fucking warning track shit! Where’s teh friggin bandbox!?
If only we had the Supercaptain on our team. Joba would pitch a no hitter every game.
I’m confident we win this game.
Look what 3-2 breaking balls got us. Brett Tomko in the 5th inning.
You’re one of those people who belong in an insane asylum AKA: want Joba in the pen aren’t you?
I want Joba in the Starting Rotation because his potential is being the best pitcher in baseball. I want him in the rotation because he has 4 plus pitches. Don’t talk about me being a B-Jobber. Just because I have a problem with the way he pitched tonight doesn’t mean I want in the bullpen.
Well just remember how young he is. These things happen.
Is there one pitcher on this staff besides Andy Pettitte that doesn’t bitch about Posada?
Even he had a hard time with Posada last time.
Huh? Who bitched about Posada? Did you just field a phone call from Joba?
So you know more about pitching than David Cone. Gotcha.
So David Cone said that Posada = t3h suck?
CC has all but made Cervelli his personal catcher and Joba is clearly upset.
Not sure how AJ and Wang feel, but neither is pitching well lately.
Just to further this point, check out AJ Burnett’s splits by Catcher.
http://www.baseball-reference......9&t=p
In an equal amount of starts (4) with Posada and Molina catching, his numbers explode when Jorge is behind the plate.
All Jorge’s fault? No, but this stuff gets hard to ignore at some point.
Btw, per mlbtraderumors, Todd Linden’s contract was sold to Japan.
Because Linden couldn’t help the team more than Berroa.
Clearly.
5 innings from the pen, lets just say the Yankees offense better realize 3 runs wont win this game.
Jeez, these negative nancies on here drive me nuts. Somedays it’s just brutal on here. We get it, Joba couldn’t get to strike three, he went 4 innings. It’s not 13-2 right now.
—-
We’re winning.
But, coming into this game we aren’t 60-0. This is a critical game, we can’t just win we have to make David Wright cry.
No one will ever be perfect…
We have one of the best records in the MLB and that’s not good enough going in?
Apparently not. Since they aren’t in first place by a million games, the team is t3h suck.

I totally trust our bullpen with a one run lead.
Eh, Yankees are an inning away from blowing this game wide open. This isn’t going to stay a one-run lead.
But even if it did? Hey, most pitchers who have no command can’t keep the runs off the board.
…I’m not going to take this comment back, because I still think the Yankees are going to put more than 3 runs up on that board. But this *is* a little ridiculous…
I do to, in the 9th inning.
you’re crazy
I feel alot better if it was Hughes pitching now instead of Tomko. Oh well.
Oh, lookie, Nick Swisher being stupid. Where have I seen THAT before?
That fucking mohawk is pissing me off.
Mets are running wild tonight.
Swisher killed us in the Boston series, and now again.
This shit has to stop. You can’t have a guy play bthe field like this on a championship team.
Unfortunately, you only have 4 outfielders, one of whom is battling dizziness.
I know, I’m not even saying we should bench him, since obviously we can’t. Its more about Swish getting his head screwed on right, if that’s even possible.
You start to realize why a guy plays on 3 teams in 3 years when you see shit like this.
Of course, we can’t bench him. We have a DH who can’t play the field, a guy who plays once every 20 games, and now, JD is hurt.
Shelley Duncan is a call away.
Please. We saw enough of Shelly last year.
The only way I keep Shelly on the roster is as a NHL style ‘goon’. Our version of the Rangers’ Jeff Beukeboom, a guy who does all our dirty work for us and spends half the year suspended for one reason or another.
uh-oh Tomko…this can get ugly
This is going to be a loooong next few innings. Lets just hope in the end Mo is on the mound in the 9th with a lead.
Nah lets hope Veras is in there with a 5 run lead.
Ok. Base running and fielding blunders happen. But this is getting ridiculous. Stop being concerned with being a nice guy and go out and MAKE THE PLAYS. Look at Paul O’Neill. Total Prick. Good ball player and didn’t make an ass of himself.
Wow. Carlos Beltran has 20 doubles and he has only played in 54 games.
Pen sucks. Can’t wait to see veras
It would be 1 out with a runner on first if it weren’t for Swisher.
Can you please change your tag bro? Obviously you see people can confuse you with me.
Come On Swish you gotta make those plays.
Wooooonderful.
This is disgusting. I know what month it is. So don’t bother telling me.
Fine. It’s the fifth inning and Livan Hernandez is pitching.
Ok that was a pick-me-up.
If was active, instead of season Tomko, Aceves would be pitching.
Bruney was active.
Seen enough of tomko
Agreed. Never liked him.
Cano’s failure with RISP looming larger..
Bye bret
Please change your tag?
Thankyou Nick Swisher
Mother FUCKER, fucking Brett Tomko is absolutely awful. Not many major league clubs would carry that fucking scrub on their roster and put him in a close game. ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC.
Girardi sucks!!!!!!111
He does, you’re right. But Brett Tomko is worse
And there ya go. Are yu guys happy now?
This is so f#@king discouraging!
is Hughes not available til’ tomorrow
I knew a HR was coming
So did I.
Um, this Met team isn’t better. Why can’t they smash a team for a change? Funny thing is there isn’t an out yet.
Any old, slumping hitter needs to get out of a slump, come face the Yankees.
Maybe Gary Sheffield just had his eyes checked?
Tomko – put it on a tee for him next time. Pitiful.
The joba starter arguement would be better if he ever went 7
I blame Swisher.
Even more wonderful.
Three runs ain’t shit, though.
Yanks can get 3 runs on three swings, no big deal yet
Fo real.
thats twice he gets ahead 0-2 to Sheff and Church but gave up XBHs
Yo, other Drew, please change your tag!!?
Why can’t Joba throw more than 100 pitches? A starting pitcher should be able to give 120-130 pitches if needed. Think the Yanks could have gotten an extra inning from Joba.
Time for Dave Robertson?
Because these are the type of games that guys get hurt. He threw 40 pitches in one inning.
He also only gave up one hit. I’m all for protecting Joba, but I think this was overkill. He’s a starting pitcher and wasn’t gassed. If 43 pitches was so much he should have been pulled in the third.

This is why I want Joba throwing fastballs. Keep the pitch count down and keep him in the game. He was aggressive against the Rays and he lasted 6 innings. Tonight he nibbles and throws breaking balls and he is out in the 4th.
How do you not challenge a guy who can’t hit one out?
Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding
well that sucks
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/.....-team.html
Jeez.
They can really just SELL people? That’s nuts. Or do the players have to consent.
They sold the contract at Linden’s request, he came to an agreement with the Japanese team and asked the Yankees to let him go.
OH my god, that is fucking retarded. That guy seemed pretty good, he should have been on our bench for over a month now, not fucking angel berroa.
Dude calm the hell down. You take what is a game a little too seriously.
i’m gonna fucking kill myself.
*Hands the revolver*
…and it’s people like you why most of the regulars don’t comment in game threads anymore
Exactly.
Go here. http://yankees.lhblogs.com/
I’m not taking no for an answer.
nay
Do you realize it’s people like you who are tarnishing the great reputation of this website?
haha I know it is so tough to like this team especially since we are in last place and haven’t won a world series in a 100 years.
Damn Tomko. Does anyone know what happened to Doc Halladay btw?
BLUE JAYS STARTER ROY HALLADAY LEFT THE GAME IN THE TOP OF THE 4TH INNING AFTER SUFFERING A MUSCLE INJURY IN HIS RIGHT GROIN
Thanks, wasn’t there a little bit ago
Yes – The game is in the top of the 6th
Stop babying joba already
You whine like a girl. Also, thanks for changing your name..
Which one of you call Alex Al? That will be the identifying information.
heh.. that’d be me.
Okay, so I don’t think Joba should be in the bullpen, but we need bullpen help now. We don’t have a single reliever that can be consistently counted on. It is bullpen roulette.
Tomko had actually done real well up until this inning.
I understand that. But its Brett Tomko. He’s been on like 74 Major League teams. There’s a reason for that. We need help.
Did you see Joe’s face, he is thinking the same thing we are, “For 200 million, Cash can’t find me some fucking pitching!” “Good job, Bret”
STOP. USING. DAVE. ROBERTSON. IN. LOW. LEVERAGE. SITUATIONS.
My Mo this makes me mad.
We really should have to sign up to comment.
+1
http://riveraveblues.com/2009/.....ent-429408
Saw that. I find it’s just easier to not reply to madness.
He should start sniffing glue.
Or be on moderation until you post 10 not insane posts.
Kontos, Melancon, Garcia…someone HAS to be better, right?
How bad is igawa if he can’t crack this pen?
Shit, Lester has 11 K’s thru 7 in Philly. Only up 2-1 though so Phillies could still comeback.
If that outing doesn’t get Cash on the phone ASAP I’m not sure what it will take.
Has Tomko pitched his way to a DFA?
Any one of us could manage this game once the starter leaves. It is literally just: Throw somebody out there, hope they get outs, repeat until the 9th inning.
2.1 innings would be huge by D-Rob right now.
I just our offense can score 3 runs…
this umpire is one of the worst i’ve seen. he’s been calling outside pitches on lefties strikes, but the same location for righties balls. Where’s the freaking consistency?

Who is going to pitch the next four innings?
How did Swish mess up again?
Please. I just forgot about it.
anyone else wanna tell me?
No. Watch the post game.
Look at this Robertson challenging people and his stuff can’t wipe Joba’s ass.
Our starters decide to fail us right before the Boston Mets series begin. Amazing. What timing.
BP is going to be gassed after tonight. Pettitte has to go at least 6 tomorrow.
Girardi did so well managing the bullpen last year because the bullpen did exceptionally well. This year, guys are faltering, and Girardi has no idea what to do.
Yeah with the way their performing it’s hard not to eff up. Girardi has faults that’s for sure but this bullpen really needs to throw some strikes.
Prove it.
With statistics, not idiocy
God, you are a total dumbass.
Coke has been used a LOT LESS than Proctor or Sturtze or [insert Torre's bitch here].
It’s not like he has a bunch of guys he can trust to put up zeros.
That is my point.
I like Girardi as a manager. I’m not calling up Mike Francesca and screaming for his head.
I’m serprised we scored 3 runs with the way have looked. We are so bad its embarasing.
Dude, stop using my fucking name.
Heh I was wondering why you of all people would say that.
We knew it wasn’t you. You can spell surprised.
Yaaaaay. Let’s all watch David Robertson dominate in the 5th inning while we watch Phil Coke walk the ballpark in the 8th.
LOL
Time to get a hit with men on boys. It’s livan!!
HA! Livan is at something like 66 pitches. Oh well. Hopefully that means he is in there longer to get BOMBED.
time to make those deep flies go out now or make them land…PLEASE!
I fucking hate all these fly balls to the warning track.
This is Livan Hernandez. I would like to hit him. More than that I would like the Yankees to hit him.
I’m in a hitting mood. Shit, I was 3-4 with a sac fly tonight.
We can’t lose to this pathetic Mets lineup. We will not lose.
Captain Short Porch!
All our runs from HR’s. I see my angry Met fans screaming in hatred.
They can undo my zipper.
Heh I’ll go call them if they aren’t bitching about the short porch without knowing the facts.
Don’t blame us CitiField sucks for hitters.
Cohen and Keith bitching yet?
Thanks Jeter…now cmon guys. 2 more runs at least
Cap!!
C’mon Swish
this game is far from over. Swish gets a hit and then scores off a Rodriguez double.
<3 bandbox <3
What’s the deal with Joba? I was out to dinner . . . 4 innings, 5 walks and 2 HBPs? Christ.
Yeah he basically walked all his runs in. In that inning he didn’t allow a hit but 2 runs were scored.
Then Tomko had to go fuck everything up.
But we should start pounding sooner or later.

David Price is a all-around first round draft pick phenom starting pitcher last year and Joba is a second round pick who fell in the draft for being to fat and injury prone.Put Joba where Goose Gossage said he should be…..the pen.IT’s easy to get a starter to have a 4 Era and be a innings eater.
http://yankees.lhblogs.com/
Stop listening to Mike Fatcessa.
David Price went 4.1 innings yesterday, with 6 BB to go along with 6 K.
I won’t dignify the rest of that post with a response. Joey H.’s sufficed.
Jerry is trying to prove a point.
Get your Buddy Holly glasses wearing ass back to the bench, Jerry.
… LMAO.
Nice
Oh that’s a way to get close calls. Bark at the umps. Dick.
cmon Swish atone
On a good note. ManBan threw 7 innings 0BB 4H 1ER 2R
Those pitches look way off the plate according to gamedau. Are they that bad?
ok still 2 more runs given we can hold them…stupid tomko
I’m actually in favor of moving Wang to the bullpen because he only had like 3 appearances in the bullpen so he can work his way back to starting if his start against the Nationals/Marlins goes bad again. I don’t know why but I don’t like Tomko at all.
maybe cause he’s a 36 year old journeyman nobody who can not pitch well under pressure.
If there is one thing I don’t want to see tonight it’s K-Rod saying mass on the mound in the 9th.
Anyone else concerned we can’t score without the long ball tonight?
Not at all.
Nope. The Yankees are good at hitting home runs. I’m more than fine with that.
We do have 4 runs in through 5 innings…
home runs are just easier at this ballpark, i don’t mind
nope, run is a run.
Here’s the issue. SP cannot go 4 inn every night. That’s the reason.
Has anyone made an assertion otherwise?
Daaaaamn. Lester is a freaking stud. 7IP, 2H, 1ER, 11Ks against that Philly lineup. Ridiculous.
Frustrating when the Yankees out-hit their opponent and are still losing. Happens too often.
Anyone seen david robertson’s numbers, cause they’re pretty effin good. The guy pumps strikes and can actually gets out, we should be using him in much higher leverage situations than those that he’s been used for.
Carlos Beltran is up. Throw a curveball, Dave. He will not swing. He is STILL waiting for an Adam Wainwright fastball.
Gary Cohen just said JOBBER Chamberlain.
Lol, Eric Bruntlett’s pic on gameday is just weird.
Melancon please?!!! or Kontos or Garcia (yes, after he’s healthy though and because of another injury i’ve given up on him as a starter)
In all seriousness guys should we consider letting Dave Eiland go? I mean our offense has been amazing, but we can’t seem to get the pitching when we need it. I’m starting to get frustrated.
Dude what is your problem? Is it necessary to impersonate people? what the fuck
you guys need to figure this thing out.
im confused which drew is this
I’m the Drew that is here every day. This guy has a problem man.
I used to think that to, but there’s nothing he can do when the pitchers don’t throw strikes. At the same time there is always going to be a scapegoat, it may or may not be him.
8 BB’s tonight. Unexceptable.
*Unacceptable
Yep. Totally Unexceptable. Who say that one coming.
At some point, Dave Eiland has to take the heat for all these walks. It’s pretty inexcusable for a staff like this to be walking a zillion guys a game.
Maybe we should fire him. Shake things up a bit. I miss Ron Guidry.
No Shot. He does need to go though. Get a veteran who knows what he is talking about. Isn’t he here for last year’s experiment?
You may be on to something.
Did not make this post.
Stop pretending to be the other Drew. Change your name to something else, he gets “Drew” since he was here first.
If you keep pretending to be other people, you’re banned.
Yo Mike, some ass keeps pretending to be me. I told Ben in an E-mail too but this guy just won’t stop.
Welp, that’s him right above me…
… Haha.
that’s mad funny
See his comment regarding Wang. No accountability
I wonder how much of Mazzone’s genius was having Maddux/Smoltz/Glavine. He couldn’t do crap with the Orioles’ staff.
Of course, for whatever reason, they wouldn’t listen to him/take him seriously.
Well the Yankees have some pretty good pitcher so he wont be working with crap for the most part, especially in the rotation.
Beltran is grinding out at bats. A huge gm miss
We chose Randy Johnson at the time over Beltran. At the time it seemed like a smart move and it was refreshing to everyone that we weren’t signing every single guy.
Lol@David Wright.
I love that Michael Kay is bashing inter-league play.
Isn’t this wonderful? Watching out best bullpen arm outside of MO dominate the 6th inning.
Joba = Max Scherzer/Clayton Kershaw
there all virtually the same 1/3 of the time they pitch like an ace 1/3 of the time a decent outing and a 1/3 of the time a WTF???? outing
You know what else they have in common? They’re all under 25.
+1.
You know what else they have in common? They’re on my fantasy team. Lol.
Throw Phil Hughes in there
Dude they are young pitchers!! A tim l or doc are rare
Ah I love you Robertson. One of the few who knows the definition of strike.
nice D-rob….now go in the dugout and teach others how to throw strikes
now go in the dugout and
teach others how to throw strikestell Joe Girardi to use you in high leverage situations.Fixed.
that too
Didn’t we use him like tie game against the Phillie once? He did use him but he gets shaky. Let’s build his confidence here first.
Thanks Mike.
Time for another jack
d-rob is fucking awesome
Man, Beltran is smooth as hell out there.
Someone needs to tell this Michael Kay asshole that not everything is a home run.
Damn. Livan is living on the track! We’ve got to chase him from the game soon.
26 pitches 18 strikes for D-rob
Fuckin’ A. Tip the cap to Carlos there.
fuck another warning track shot
This ump is sooo annoying
yes he is
what did he do?
Just kind of inconsistent.
The Yankees are going to win this game.
High five. Sick of the doom and gloom crew every time the Yankees get down a run. I like you, Mike D.
Ha. There was a game, hm.. I think it was Jorgey’s walk off against Fuentes where some guy owed me 20 bucks. I love getting paid to be optimistic.
Nice to see Switzer found a job after that whole prostitution ring thing. Oh wait..
So close, Posada.
We will not lose to a Mets lineup missing Reyes and Delgado. No excuses. Yankees have to get it done.
Well at least Nova did well today.
Do they ever considering putting A-Rod in front of Tex just to get A-Rod going again?
I doubt it, when Al is right, he’ll hit/walk no matter who’s behind him. It’s just a matter of time.
and mess with him? Dont worry he’ll be fine. He’s getting on base but not getting the BABIP correction yet.
That BABIP correction is gonna rule. A-Rod will have a week this season with at least 5 doubles or some shit.
Is this THE inning? Let’s do this.
This lead is gonna change hands at least a couple more times.
Isnt matsui due?
Please change your name tag.

The only thing that can cheer me up tonight is a massive load of jizz on my face.
Ok, He needs to go. If you’re going to do this at least be slick.
Dunno what to say about that….
Another Crisp RISP opportunity…
I see Manuel no longer makes the pitcher he is taking out wait on the mound til the new pitcher arrives. That was such a stupid thing he tried to implement last season when he took over.
Oh my Mo! The tying run is on base?! The game isn’t over?! Why didn’t you guys tell me games went nine innings?!?!?
Oops, I thought the Yankees were playing with the “As soon as the Yankees’ starting pitcher is removed from the game, the Yankees automatically forfeit” rule. Sorry about that.
But they must be playing with that rule this season, because I can’t remember a single game the Yankees have won after being behind early…
Ivan Nova: 8 IP 8K 2H Shutout
Mike will love this–Gavin Brooks has signed with the Yanks.
sweet!
How hard does Brooks throw as a starter?
I think eleventy thousand consistently…oh wait, never mind thats only Red Sox draftees.
Wow – Peavy is out at least a month with a torn tendon behind his right ankle. Bet the White Sox are glad he didn’t approve the trade.
Bandbox that!
HIT-DEKI!
(Get that man some porn.)
lol at happy birthday!!
Godzilla!!!!!!!!!!
Hit-Deki. Bitches.
yea baby, who said this game was over.
Love Matsui!
FCUK YEAH!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY GODZILLA!!!
Every time this guy looks like he’s completely done, he does this. Today is his 35th birthday and he looks at least 45 haha.
I called it!
congrats.

He hit that one all the way to Mount Midoriyama.
My wet dream is Hideki on Ninja Warrior.
that’s kinda weird
Hideki would break himself doing the Jumping Spider.
Olivia Munn would save him.
I told you.
I love me some Met’s bullpen!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GODZILLA!A game-winning GS last year…a go-ahead 3-run shot this year.
Where’s the guy who wanted Matsui DFA’d?
Happy B-Day Hideki.
For those who were bitching about three runs against teh METS. Time to turn in your blogging pass, your blowup Ceptikon is losing air.
I almost want to cry…..now question is who can we get 2 innings out of before Mo…
He should have stuck to being a perverted public official.
So now Murphy decides to play a good 1b.
Matsui – O-tanjobi ni Omedeto-gozaimasu!
Ryan Howard ties it in the 9th
sickkkk!
Howard just drilled a homer to deep right to tie the BoSox at 2 apiece!!
Why wasn’t paps in there?
But I thought the Red Sox bullpen was impregnable?
That “Knock on Wood” Chase ad is like nails on a chalkboard to me now.
Ryan Howard just tied the game in the 9th with a HR off Ramirez with Papelbon unavailable tonight I assume.
16K in 29 IP and BABIP of .175 wasnt going to last forever
yes ryan howard baby
he was due
Damn Robertson still out there. Not that I mind.
ACTIVATE BRUNEY NOW!!!!11!
But of course.
I guess the Yanks wore out Papelass
Come on D-Rob.
I have a visceral dislike of Gary Sheffield.
Accurate throw gets him. Come on, Dave. Work around it, bud. Prove me right.
And now he’s not going to get the chance. Unfuckingbelieveable.
Gardy really has to be able to throw out Shef at 2nd.
STAND UP COKE-HEADS! He does do well when he comes in in the middle of an inning I noticed.
I’ve really had enough of Gardner’s throwing arm.
wow Cody Ross GS in the 8th, Marlins lead 6-2 over the Blue Jays.
come on Drobbie…dont blow it man and you get another win
Ok Cokey…you get a hold now
Ut oh… the white Veras has been summoned.
Remember that 20 bucks you owe me? KEEPTRAPSHUT
Ugh, Victorino just popped up a FB right over the middle.
