  1. Joey H. says:

    Coke heads STAND UP!

  2. pc69 says:

    Coke redeems this inning.

  3. BigBlueAL says:

    I hate this fuckin bullpen….

  4. Accent Shallow says:

I thought LHP were supposed to retire same-handed hitters. Is this no longer the case?

  5. Joey H. says:

MEH! Leave this pinch hitting shit in the NL!!

  6. Drew says:

Well, I’d rather a hit than a walk, so can’t complain too much bout the Cokeman.

  7. I’m so pissed that Robertson is not still in this game. Calm me down, Coke.

  8. Mike D. says:

    Tatis is a scrub.

  9. Andrew says:

    Coke just doesn’t throw strikes

  10. The Fallen Phoenix says:

Did Michael Kay just suggest that…

    “[COKE]‘s A TRAP!”?

  11. John says:

    Strikeout and then DP

  12. Drew says:

    Great turn.

  13. BigBlueAL says:

    Ill take that.

  14. John says:

oh well I’ll take it with the top of the order coming up

  15. Mike D. says:

we still got this. no worries.

  16. Joey H. says:

Bring in Green! Dude’s a bum.

  17. Mike D. says:

who’s going to pitch the 8th? aceves?

  18. Accent Shallow says:

    Nicely done, I suppose.

  19. Joey H. says:

Has there been scoring in every inning except the first?

  20. Ivan says:

    Who pitches the 8th?

  21. Andrew says:

I think sheff likes the Bronx

  22. Joey H. says:

Top 8 is huge. Got to retire the first two bums.

  23. BigBlueAL says:

Coming into this game LHB had a .768 OPS vs Coke as opposed to RHB who had a .692 OPS. Tonight, the one LHB he faced got a hit, the 2 RHB he got out.

  24. AJ says:

Good thing the Yanks are the home team, because this is going to be a walk-off win type game.

  25. NYQ says:

What can we do to keep a lead?!
Too bad Hughes couldn’t pitch today.

  26. Reggie C. says:

I just turned on the Tv in time to see Hideki rescue the Yanks .. temporarily at least.

I’ve missed an eventful game , and i’m sure some colorful commentary from Axl and Lanny.

  27. Drew says:

Edited by RAB: You were warned.

  28. John says:

Oh nos!!! The winning Omir Santos is in….

  29. BigBlueAL says:

    Fernando Rodriguez???????

  30. John says:

cmon Swisha atonement!…and he’s got a lot of it to do

  31. NYQ says:

All Swish does is walk and hit jacks.

  32. Ivan says:

Im looking at Parnell #’s and I don’t see what the big deal is.

    Hitters have .303 BAA
    WHIP is 1.62

  33. AJ says:

Does it worry anyone else that, in the past few games, it seems like a home run or nothing offense for the Yankees? Last night they scored three without a home run, but tonight all seven have come via the long ball. That might work at home, but it’s a risky way to win.

    • The Fallen Phoenix says:

Not really, because a home run is a result of the Yankees hitting the ball hard. When you hit the ball hard, you’re going to score runs. It just happens more swiftly when the ball leaves the park…

    • Tank the Frank says:

Not really because I’ve seen the Yankees have big rallies this season w/o the HR. Just last week against the Rays we took the lead with Matsui beating out a grounder.

Home runs happen because a hitter is on and making good, line drive contact. If it’s a double in the gap… that’s fine. If it turns out to be a HR… I’ll take it.

  34. Tank the Frank says:

    This ump is outa control.

  35. BigBlueAL says:

    Time for an A-bomb.

  36. Ivan says:

    Lets go A-Rod.

  37. Accent Shallow says:

Green is a heavy groundballer, though.

He could get out of this in a hurry.

    Let’s hope A-Rod doesn’t help him out.

  38. BigBlueAL says:

    Nice at-bat.

  39. Fuck. Awful at bat. Pick him up, Robbie.

  40. ARX says:

Why did you swing at that…

  41. NYQ says:

    How about a K-bomb from A-rod

  42. Accent Shallow says:

Wow, what the hell was he swinging at?

Hope Robbie makes this putz pay.

  43. John says:

cmon Robbie increase that Avg with RISP

  44. Accent Shallow says:

And they let him off the hook.

  45. BigBlueAL says:

Of course, runner gets on 2nd, 4 pitches later 2 outs and out of the inning.

  46. Ivan says:

Terrible AB’s by A-Rod and Cano.

  47. John says:

wow robbie he just walked two guys and you swing at the first pitch

  48. BigBlueAL says:

Oh and by all means keep Cano in the 5th spot.

    • Jorge or Swish needs to be batting 5th at this point.

    • Yankee1010 says:

I know a lot of people think lineup protection is a bit of a myth, but just thinking about it logically, who would ever pitch to A-Rod when Cano is right behind him willing to swing at ANYTHING in a big spot? He needs to drop in the order.

  49. John says:

    ok bullpen…NO RUNS at all!

  50. Dave says:

How many fucking times will Cano just go up there and swing first pitch.

  51. Drew says:

Some Melky magic perhaps? We really can’t go into extra innings today.

  52. John says:

Long needs to work with him again on patience

  53. Joey H. says:

These are the two most important batters of the game. Gotta retire them.

  54. Drew says:

    Wow. lol

    • Pasqua says:

What if that impostor is actually you, and you’ve got a split personality that you don’t even consciously know exists.

We could totally make this a movie.

  55. Pasqua says:

“RISP Anxiety is a silent killer. While many Major Leaguers do not differentiate between at-bats, those who suffer from RISPA are prone to impatience, bad swings, and pouting. Don’t ignore this growing problem. Tell your Congressmen that you want something done to combat this insidious ailment.”

    /PSA’d

  56. Bob Stone says:

I’ve said before but YES has to stop this Player of the Game Poll after only seven innings. It’s stupid and anoying!

  57. Yankees_Universe says:

    M.Kay, can u please stop overhyping everything…

  58. V says:

So, uh, when, exactly, does the impersonator get IP banned? He’s impersonated three folks so far – Drew, The Artist, and someone else in the previous thread.

Just ban the fuck already. Stop warning him.

  59. Coke points at fuckin’ everything like Julian Tavarez used to do.

  60. Mike Axisa says:

    Now he brings Mo in?

    • RichYF says:

I came here just to say:

Why the fuck is Mo in this game right now?

      • RichYF says:

Seriously, is Coke pitching “so poorly” that bringing in Mo is a necessity? Is Girardi trying to make up for last night to “prove that he’ll bring Mo in” or something? What the fuck is he thinking right now?

“I told you guys I’d bring him in for 4 outs.”

Thanks Joe. I appreciate it. HOW ABOUT YOU TRY TO FUCKING WIN THE GAME WHEN IT MATTERS?

  61. And now he fuckin’ brings in Rivera?

  62. BigBlueAL says:

Hey look at that, Mo coming into the 8th inning!!! What a concept.

  63. Accent Shallow says:

Oh, we couldn’t see Mariano in the 8th yesterday?

    %*&#^(@*#&%(*@#*%)(*@%#)(*@#)(%*!!!!!

  64. V says:

My fantasy team will take the W for Rivera instead of the SV. OK? Please?

  65. Andrew says:

    Girardi is clueless

  66. The Artist says:

    Somebody explain this to me.

  67. pc69 says:

Milk Money comes to the plate in the bottom of the inning.

  68. AJ says:

Too bad Girardi is a day late with Mo.

  69. If I ever hear Al Lieter sing again, I will find him and rip out his vocal cords.

  70. Dave says:

Is it possible Girardi has regressed to 8th grade and is throwing a bullpen-management tempertantrum over the media criticsim of MO’s use?

  71. Tank the Frank says:

Awesome move by Girardi. Gotta have Mo pitch here. He could even get a save in the 9th if the Yankees score. I can’t believe Kay is even asking about this move.

  72. The Artist says:

Beltran is their best hitter, I guess.

  73. Drew says:

I love how Leiter always says, Also too.

  74. John says:

    Tie game…

  75. MattG says:

I can’t believe the dissension in this thread for this move. Don’t give Beltran a chance to beat Coke. There is no way Coke pitches to Wright, so why let him pitch to Beltran?

  76. Tank the Frank says:

Michael Kay is a drooling moron.

  77. Drew says:

Kay, STFU! We need a win. He needs work. What’s the disconnect?

  78. Yet they don’t say one goddamn peep about him not coming into last night’s game.

  79. RichYF says:

I’m going to give Joe the benefit of the doubt and assume that he believes what I believe: We’re winning this game in the next two innings. The Mets are awful. Maybe he’s just trying to light a fire under the rest of the team or something.

If he’s trying to “perserve the tie,” he’s a fucking moron.

A wise man once said, “Batshit insane. I-N-S-A-N-E.”

    • Accent Shallow says:

Managers hate going to the closer on the road if it’s not in the 9th.

That’s what it comes down to.

      • RichYF says:

Understood. Absolutely understood. Doesn’t mean I agree with that mentality or that it should be “common.”

But hey, if Mo were going to do what he did tonight in Boston it wouldn’t have mattered much now would it?

I guess were too used to “using Mo” meaning “automatic X outs.”

Not the case. At least this past month anyway.

  80. John says:

that ball 1 was right down the middle in gameday

  81. Hova says:

I have never rooted so hard for a Philly team as I have tonight. Crazy to think that Mets fans are doing the same thing for the Red Sox.

  82. BigBlueAL says:

    Beautiful. Fucking great.

  83. ARX says:

    ………..

  84. Dave says:

The Yankees are the definition of Murphy’s law right now.

  85. Accent Shallow says:

And sometimes they beat your best pitcher.

  86. Joey H. says:

Aceves would have gotten that out.

  87. Zach says:

Lets see how quickly every blame Girardi

  88. Drew says:

    AHHH!!! Damnit Mo.

  89. Reggie C. says:

David Wright has officially started his campaign for MVP.

  90. Andrew says:

    Brilliant girardi

  91. Ivan says:

    Great…..just fuckin great.

  92. Bob Stone says:

Mo’s control is really off tonight

  93. Dorian says:

Why do none of our pitchers pitch inside?

    • Ivan says:

I was surprise Mo didin’t throw one pitch inside to Wright. Wright best strength is going the other way, sorta like Jeter.

  94. Goddammit. God. Dammit.

Well, Wright hit a bad pitch.

  95. BigBlueAL says:

You know it has gotten to the point where no matter what fucking move Girardi makes anymore it backfires on him.

  96. John says:

    mo in tie games…

  97. Jay J says:

uhh… i thought everyone was clear only to put Mo in with a save situation… guess not.

  98. AJ says:

Mo in non-save situations = fail.

  99. Gift strike there. Thanks, blue.

  100. charlie says:

Oh fuck, im getting worried we’re close to seeing the beginning of the end for MO

  101. Jay J says:

well, first pitch was a strike to wright… he should’ve struck out, Ump owes us more than that.

  102. Slugger27 says:

damn that botched call on the first pitch to wright looms large now… mo splits the plate in half, thigh high, and its called a ball

  103. Yankee1010 says:

The 9 walks and 2 HBPs have been an especially delightful viewing experience. It must be that feared Met lineup.

    They’re still going to win.

  104. Dave says:

Am I the only one that thinks this is an instance where Girardi can’t be reasonably blamed?

  105. The Fallen Phoenix says:

Walks have killed us today. Absolutely killed us.

  106. Andrew says:

Btw this is why u need an 8 inn guy

  107. pc69 says:

Yanks bullpen is in trouble and Mo, is not right. He could still be suffering from surgery, but either way, he is fooling no one.

    • Drew says:

He never has fooled anyone. They know what’s coming. His location is the only worry, but that will come around.

  108. V says:

Oh, here come the geniuses that think there’s a magical trigger that makes Mo suck in non-save situations.

Hey, Einsteins – Mo kicks ass when he’s throwing 92-93. Not so much when he’s throwing 89-90. Doesn’t matter if it’s a save situation or not.

  109. RichYF says:

This isn’t Girardi’s fault. This is Mo’s fault for sucking balls. Not negotiable. Yeah, Joe shouldn’t have wasted Mo in the 8th with 2 outs (keyword: WASTED). But the reason it’s a bad move is because this game is FAR from over. Using up Mo’s “4″ innings now is just a waste of his arm. Use them starting in the 9th inning and go from there.

I’m mad at Joe, but not because Mo sucked. I just think he prematurely ejaculated a little bit.

  110. Jay J says:

i dont see what girardi was doing… Mo’s % in non save situations is… Awful… and coke was doing fine.

    • Accent Shallow says:

For his career, Mo has an ERA of 1.91 in save situations, and 2.55 in non-save situations.

To be charitable, you are mistaken.

      • RichYF says:

I think you misread. Mo has a 0.00 ERA in save situations, and a Wangian 15.81 ERA in non-save situations.

I got my info from MSM though so YMMV.

  111. Pasqua says:

Breaking news: Murphy’s Law renamed Girardi’s Law.

  112. Tank the Frank says:

This isn’t on Girardi. Mo just isn’t Mo anymore. He’s declining, like all players do, and the Yankees and their fans are going to have to start dealing with that.

I’m not writing him off… or saying “he’s done,” but his stuff is just not right. He can’t seem to throw his cutter inside for strikes and even his location has been bad of late.

    • RichYF says:

      +1

I think “logic” and “reason” are foreign concepts to many of the people commenting on this board lately.

  113. Pastafarian says:

Terrible is the definition of our bull pen right now and I though it was supposedly good coming into this season, yet again giving up 6 runs in one night is good right?

    • The new Yankee Stadium sucks says:

teams are going to give up more runs when the starter only goes 4

    • The Fallen Phoenix says:

Four of those runs came from the last man in the pen, Brett Tomko, who you really don’t expect to put zeroes on the board.

And another run came from the best reliever in the pen.

Eh, what can you do, but shrug your shoulders, and wait for reinforcements to come? Robertson looked nasty tonight, as did Coke. This bullpen has some upside, we just haven’t had a chance to see most of it the last few days.

That said, yes, it’s upsetting. But when your starter only gives you four innings…you take what you can get…

  114. leokitty says:

When even Mariano is walking people, what can you do. :(

  115. Dave G says:

Can we ever have an inning when we don’t allow a run? Everything is going wrong.

  116. Hova says:

Now if we were playing the Sox I would say the game is over right now and there is no way we’re coming back.

But there’s just something about the Mets. They are historically a massive failure.

    • leokitty says:

Francisco Rodriguez has been nails this year and actually much better than he was in 2008. The Yankees didn’t do anything against a not right Papelbon they’re not doing anything against him.

      • Zach says:

I’m sure thats what the Pirates said facing Johan, and they ended up winning 3-1.

That’s why you play the game

  117. A says:

    I fucking hate the mets

  118. John says:

cant say we didnt have RISP opportunities so far

  119. Andy Stankiewicz says:

Girardi is the worst manager in NY since Art Howe. That is a fact.

  120. Jay J says:

Mo has only given up 1ER in save situations excluding the Boston game… its the situation, not Mo.

    • V says:

D00d, are you trying to be a total dumbass, or were you just born that way?

    • Accent Shallow says:

No, no it isn’t. Mariano is slightly worse for his career in non-save situations.

Don’t take my word for it, there’s the link.

He’s a great, great pitcher, regardless of the situation. (Except as a starter. In that role, he sucked)

      http://www.baseball-reference......r&t=p

    • Hova says:

Why the fcuk are people blaming Girardi the last few days? Are you people retarded? Have you seen what our pitching has been doing? They can’t do sh!t. Please start ripping our pitching staff and not our manager who’s playing russian roulette with a loaded gun every time he puts a pitcher out there.

  121. Let’s hope Matsui keeps up that reverse platoon split.

  122. MattG says:

Mo in tied games < Mo in save situations is just fallacy. Small-sample-size made-up nonsense. He made a bad pitch to Wright, and for whatever reason, did not try to go inside.

They just are not pitching well. Even if they win this game, it’ll still feel like a loss.

  123. John says:

IF we lose, it’ll be another heartbreaker

  124. BigBlueAL says:

Again I dont think you can ever blame Girardi for bringing in Mo whenever he does because he is freakin Mo.

But shit its just that no matter what Girardi does in regards to the bullpen it just seems to backfire more often than not. I have no faith whatsoever in any move Girardi makes anymore. Even if were are all in 100% agreement, the fact that Girardi is making the move makes me think it will backfire.

I know I shouldnt think this way, but right now with Girardi thats just how I feel.

    • V says:

So, you’re going to blame Girardi instead of the guys actually throwing the pitches?

      That’s smart.

      • BigBlueAL says:

I didnt say my reasoning was smart, but thats just how I feel right now. Anything Girardi does in regards to the pitching staff will backfire. Ditto all the stupid Sac bunts.

      • D-Roc says:

dude take off your fuckin blinders, giradi overmanages the pen, nuff said

  125. Bob Stone says:

Dobbs just missed a walk off HR that was called foul in the Phils/BoSox game. Why wasn’t Instant Replay used in that situation?

  126. Drew says:

C’mon Melk. You can do it.

  127. Dave G says:

When the Mets need a run, they get it. When we do, we don’t

  128. Jay J says:

    girardi should’ve had him bunt…

  129. John says:

these one-run games hurt like crap, especially when there are mistakes like the one Swish made

  130. Accent Shallow says:

    Sheffield goes down looking?

    CLEARLY THE UMP IS RACIST!

Sheff is such a sack of shit.

  131. Joba-to-the-pen says:

Mo’s 39 and had shoulder surgery and even though he is getting more strikeouts then before he is giving up more hits and homeruns. He’s slowly becoming good not great just a good closer. And unlike a starter the Yankees have no replacements in the farm or free agency or trades.

  132. Yankee1010 says:

It seems like the Yanks’ pitchers think they’re pitching to the ’27 Yanks. The ball/strike ratio has to be horrendous. Even Mo’s control is off tonight.

  133. Dorian says:

Gardner gets on we win simple as that.

  134. What the fuck is Al Lieter saying…?

    • RichYF says:

I muted it in the 5th inning.

The 12 pack of Stella that I bought might have had something to do with that though…

  135. Drew says:

Well, if we get the W we’re sure going to earn it. I’m all for doing some work on K-rod’s ERA.

  136. Andrew says:

    Girardi is inconsistent

  137. Jordan says:

Joe Girardi is incredible. Absolutely unbelievable. I don’t know what to think. He brings in Mo vs. the Mets best hitters in the eighth, which is what so many of us advocate for, best reliever vs. best hitters, so WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT!?

I don’t care what happens tonight with the win really anymore. I want Girardi to man up to the media and admit last night’s mistake and say I put in Mo, my best pitcher, against the Mets best hitters and Mo got unfortunately got beat. That happens, but it was the right move.

P.S. Michael Kay is a joke.

  138. Drew says:

    Swish can catch? Ugh..

  139. Accent Shallow says:

Yankees need to walk off, because there’s no need to see “passing of the torch” articles tomorrow, especially featuring such an unlikeable bastard as K-Rod.

  140. Andy Stankiewicz says:

Swisher caught the ball? Yeah baby, things are looking up !!!

  141. John says:

    Gardy bunt to get on!

  142. Dave G says:

We never do well against K-Rod. Watch him do his Papelbon dance when he gets the save. The world is laughing at us.

  143. 0.61 ERA = Overdue to give up a run or two. Right? Right!?!?!?

  144. BigBlueAL says:

Well we’ve beaten K-Rod before so lets do it again.

  145. Andy Stankiewicz says:

Damn K-Rod has some great numbers. He is due to get hit hard.I hope.

  146. Drew says:

Frank rod has made it interesting many times.

  147. Damon = PR for Swish if he gets on, no?

  148. Conan says:

If only Cano could hit with RISP…

  149. Dorian says:

What do you people want? Girardi does this. He’s wrong. Girardi does that. He’s Wrong. He bunts with a man on. He’s wrong. He let’s the best offense in the league swing away. He’s wrong.

Girardi doesn’t pitch, catch, hit, or run the bases. It’s the guys on the fields job to DO their job. If a guy bunts with one out and a man on and the next guy strikes out, THAT AINT GIRARDI’S FAULT.

  150. BigBlueAL says:

    Nice job Gardner.

  151. Helped him out there, Brett. Come on, Jeet; start a rally.

  152. Joey H. says:

I honestly can’t believe they are going to loose to the fucking Mutts.

  153. John says:

    one down…damn

  154. Accent Shallow says:

I suppose a second jack from Derek would be too much to ask, right?

  155. Andy Stankiewicz says:

Gardner is a waste. Cant hit and cant throw. By the looks of things he always needs to get bunted over also. Total waste of roster space.

  156. Accent Shallow says:

    Derek is doing his part.

  157. Mike Axisa says:

How the hell did Jeter hit that?

  158. Joey H. says:

I’m actually surprised they’re gonna PH for Swisher.

  159. BigBlueAL says:

WOW what a time for some Swisher redemption.

  160. Accent Shallow says:

I am very surprised they’d pinch hit Damon for Swisher. At least Damon is less likely to GIDP.

  161. The Fallen Phoenix says:

I think Girardi’s logic is that if Gardner gets on base, he’s a weapon – can steal, has speed, etc. – whereas Swisher is a liability on the basepaths. Otherwise, pinch-hitting for Swisher over Gardner makes no sense.

But you need to get on base. So…I don’t know, I disagree with the decision not to pinch-hit Gardner.

  162. Drew says:

    … JD, come on broski.

  163. Oof, great changeup.

  164. BigBlueAL says:

We dont need a HR Damon, a single or walk would be fine.

  165. Dave G says:

    Can Johnny even see?

  166. ARX says:

I want the next pitch to Damon to be crushed and land in my living room in Brooklyn.

  167. MattG says:

I…Joe? Gardner hits for himself, and you pinch hit for Swisher?

Is that a monkey using a typewriter?

  168. Joey H. says:

He is tipping that change up like a mother fucker. Just watch.

  169. Accent Shallow says:

Wow, K-Rod has been really working in the change the past few years.

  170. V says:

This is what Edwar Ramirez could be if he had a 93 fastball.

  171. Conan says:

    Is anyone else’s palms sweaty?

  172. Joey H. says:

    Franky looks pretty nervous..

  173. BigBlueAL says:

Is Jeter not running on the pitch???? Why not????

  174. Dave G says:

    C’mon Johnny, end this pain

  175. Why would you risk running Jeter? Tex, currently the best hitter, might not even get to bat if they do the strike ‘em out-throw ‘em out DP/

  176. Mike Axisa says:

They’re not going to throw anything near the plate to Tex. I sure wouldn’t.

  177. BigBlueAL says:

Damon pinch-hits for Swisher but not Gardner. OK whatever.

  178. Joey H. says:

    TEX GET A HANGER!

  179. Conan says:

    For once, I just want a single….

  180. BigBlueAL says:

    No respect for Arod.

  181. Joey H. says:

They can only do this shit so much to A-Rod. He’s got to mash the mother fucker.

  182. Drew says:

Bad move. Al will get this done. Put that shit on the board.

  183. JobaWockeeZ says:

If A-Rod pulls through with a RBI it’s still unclutch.

  184. Accent Shallow says:

And of course, it comes down to A-Rod.

  185. Andy Stankiewicz says:

    Fear Tex.

  186. Conan says:

Oh, good God, it’s going to come down to Cano.

  187. Joey H. says:

    Cigarette anyone?

  188. JobaWockeeZ says:

2 outs bases loaded game deciding AB for Cano? No thanks.

  189. Accent Shallow says:

    Think Alex is swinging 3-0?

  190. Spaceman.Spiff says:

    BB-Rod?

  191. JobaWockeeZ says:

    OMFG YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  192. V says:

    WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW

  193. Accent Shallow says:

Jesus Christ, did that just happen!?!

  194. BigBlueAL says:

    WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  195. Drew says:

    WHATTATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  196. The Fallen Phoenix says:

    EAT THAT! EAT THAT!

  197. Conan says:

    Am i dreaming?

  198. Hova says:

OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD!!!!

WHAT DID I SAY BEFORE!? THE METS ARE THE BIGGEST HISTORICAL FAILURE IN THE HISTORY OF BASEBALL!!!!!

  199. Zach says:

    AROD IS FUCKING CLUTCH

  200. John says:

wait what happened…im gettin excited my heart rate is through the roof

    • Zach says:

Runners on 1st and 2nd. 2 outs. Arod pops up to short LF, castillo dances around, ball pops out of his glove and 2 runs score

  201. Accent Shallow says:

I had the remote in my hand, ready to turn the game off, but I decided to wait until Castillo secured it. Boy am I glad about that.

  202. Mike Axisa says:

    Gotta love the Mets.

  203. I cannot believe that just happened….

  204. AJ says:

The wierdest walk-off I’ve ever seen! Lady Luck gave us one tonight.

  205. Dorian says:

FUK YEAAA BAYBY FUK MUTHA FUKIN YEA

  206. Nick L says:

wait, yup I just pooped myself

  207. Alex S says:

    CHOKE!

  208. BigBlueAL says:

    Im speechless.

  209. The Artist says:

    BWAH-HAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHH!!!!!1

  210. John says:

    WHAT HAPPENED? DID WE WIN?

    PLEASE GOD..ERR MO

  211. Tony says:

Texxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ran it out. What a pro.

  212. John says:

    OH SHIT WE DID WIN!

  213. Zach says:

Atleast half of NY loves Castillo now :)

  214. The Artist says:

Alex-”I just want to get a good pitch to pop up . . . “

  215. Bob Stone says:

    Unbelievable!!!!

  216. ARX says:

I swear to god I’ve never seen something like that happen before…

  217. James says:

    A-Rod > MLB

  218. Andy Stankiewicz says:

This is the first time that I actually feel like I need a shower after a Yankee victory.

  219. Pasqua says:

That’s the most surreal ending I’ve experienced in a while.

I would love to listen to WFAN for the next 12 hours straight.

  220. John says:

who gets the pie? Tex, Jeter, A-rod, K-rod, or Castillo?

  221. J says:

Wow. The Yankees have been one of the luckiest and unluckiest teams in baseball this season

  222. Dorian says:

MEET THE MUTS MEET THE MUTS. STEP RIGHT UP AND GREET THE MUTS.

  223. The Artist says:

I CANT WAIT to hear the Howie Rose and Gary ‘who farted?’ Cohen calls. Those will be delish.

  224. Mike Axisa says:

Yeah, I think the ghosts made it across the street.

  225. BigBlueAL says:

I havent stopped laughing for the past 5 minutes.

  226. The Fallen Phoenix says:

I can’t stop laughing. Re-watching that was absolutely hilarious. A-Rod literally did a double-take rounding first.

  227. the artist formerly known as (sic) says:

    WHOA WHOA

    Meet the Mets!

    Meet the Mets!

Come right out and GREET the mets!

  228. John says:

    finally some luck!!!!

    Cmon Phillies

  229. Dave says:

What shouldn’t go unnoticed is the entire reason that was possible was because Jeter and Tex hustled around the bases on a play that ia 99.9% of the time an out, and game over. Talk about setting a good example.

  230. Dorian says:

Mark Teixera put his head down and ran hard all the way around. This guy is, I hate to say it, A “WINNER”

  231. Pasqua says:

I thought the Boston sweep was a sign that we were starting to pay back the karma loan on May. But tonight makes me think that the baseball gods actually like us this year.

  232. Jason says:

Hey, don’t have a tv… What exactly happened?

    • A-Rod popped up to short right and Castillo botched it. Jeet scored from second and Tex scored from first.

    • Bernard says:

A-Rod hit a sky high pop-up with 2 outs in the 9th on a 3-1 count (with Jeter on 2nd and Teixeira on 1st after a walk) which hit Castillo square in the center of his glove and popped out. Yankees ended up winning 9-8 because of Teixeira hustling and scoring from first on what should’ve been a game ending pop-up.

    • Accent Shallow says:

K-Rod managed to pop A-Rod up for what should have been the final out. Castillo started stumbling around in short RF and the ball bounced off his glove. He relayed the throw in, but Jeter and Teixeira had already scored.

      Walk-off error on a pop-up.

  233. Marcus says:

Would someone mind describing the play? I just got to my computer and missed the play.

    • Zach says:

Runners on 1st and 2nd. 2 outs. Arod pops up to short LF, castillo dances around, ball pops out of his glove and Jeter and Tex hustle around the bases score

    • Dave says:

Routine high pop up to very shallow RF, Castillo drifts back to catch it and it sails on him a little and it hits the heel of his glove and he drops it. Jeter and Tex were running all the way around and both scored before Castillo could throw it in.

  234. Dave G says:

No way this just hapenned. Thankfully we were home.

  235. Ivan says:

Wow……………………..just wow, only the fuckin mets can fuck up like that.

  236. 27 this year says:

    EPIC CHOKE!!!!!!!!!!
God the Mets always choke in the clutch.

Can’t wait to talk to my english teacher who happens to be a crazy met fan.

  237. Conan says:

Has “mystique and aura” moved to the new Yankee Stadium? Un-effing-believable. I’m still incredulous.

  238. Andrew says:

    Wow!!

  239. John C. says:

I wonder how Louis Castillo feels about pie…..

  240. LiveFromNewYork says:

    I am still speechless.

it’s about time the ghosts got here!!

  241. NYQ says:

    Owned Mets owned

  242. LiveFromNewYork says:

We didn’t win it, they lost it. But we’ll take it.

  243. Joey H. says:

This just in… SNY Play by play man Gary Cohen just hanged himself.

  244. James says:

    THEM DAMN YANKEES!!!!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI9ySbj4Uu8

(Insert any victory song that has to do with any yankee.)

  245. Drew says:

    That was funny

  246. MattG says:

Castillo flat out clanked a basic pop-up. It was so basic, that if it had happened in little league, the poor kid that did it would’ve been booed.

Then, with awesome (lack of) presence, he tossed the ball into second base when he could’ve thrown home to get Teixeira.

  247. Joey H. says:

Popped up and the mets. W–.. WHOA!! HOLY SHIT!!!

  248. Pasqua says:

That kind of ending means we’re playing with house money for the rest of the weekend. No matter what happens, the NY media will keep reminding the Mets of the one that got away.

  249. Bob Stone says:

Let’s make it Matsui’s birthday everyday. Last year a Grand Slam on his 34th bday – tonight a 3 run shot on his 35th!

  250. James says:

Blame it on the wind, just like everything else.

  251. Dorian says:

    I feel poorly for Castillo….

    …..SIKE MUH FUCKA

  252. I do feel Castillo’s pain, though. Something like that happened to me tonight. The ball was in my glove, I plant my feet, and the fucking wet-as-shit grass gives way and I eat it on the damn foul line. We won, though, so it’s all good.

  253. MattG says:

Well, the comic relief helps you forget for a while, but after that wears off, that is one win that really feels like a loss. Chamberlain stunk, Rivera stunk, and the Yankees helped Livan lower his ERA. I did not care for that game at all. At least it goes into the right column.

  254. LiveFromNewYork says:

After the week we’ve had and how the game was going, it feels good to just laugh about it.

  255. AJ says:

The MLB tonight show just made fun of Castillo for five straight minutes, using stuff like Freddie Krueger claws. I can’t believe they won like that.

  256. James says:

somehow… it was better than a single… another reason to love A-Rod and Castillo.

  257. JobaWockeeZ says:

Damn not to be a downer but looks like Sox are winning the game, 5-2 top of the 13th.

  258. Zach says:

Anyone pay attention to the replay?
Just saw it on SportsCenter, once ARod popped it up KRod does a fist pump- ha!

    • yankees=warriors says:

      LOL, he did?
I was already laughing too hard to notice.

    • celerinosanchez says:

Tex should get player of game. who else was surprised when Kay said ” Yankees win 9-8″ Hustle wins. Girardi has to stop batting the choke brothers 4 and 5. Cano was the happiest guy on the field that it wasn’t left up to him. How far away is A-jax? Have you noticed how he is starting to hit doubles? They will turn into dingers as he fills out.

  259. Drew says:

I CAN’T WAIT to hear what Manuel says. haha

  260. Bob Stone says:

Mike R – One problem with your horn toot. The Yankees actually lowered his era from .61 to .59. The two runs he gave up were unearned. Prediction CLOSE but FAIL!

  261. LiveFromNewYork says:

    Fist pump this K-rod.

    • AJ says:

I’m surprised he wasn’t starting his 10 minute post save celebration. He’s worse than Papelbum.

      • JobaWockeeZ says:

No he’s not. I don’t mind being religious but it takes it to the top. But he praises God for giving him the “power” to win. Granted he overdoes it but whatever. Papelbon just thinks he’s flat out better than everyone and I hate him.

        • AJ says:

I don’t mind being religious either, but there’s being religious and taking it to far. There’s a line between religious showing and showmanship. I feel like he’s crossing it.

        • Without trying to start a holy war (/Dorn and Harris), I’d rather have a player take credit for himself because, frankly, he got the outs, not God. If God exists, I think God has more important shit to deal with than Major League Baseball.

          • LiveFromNewYork says:

Thank you. I hate all sports figures who think that God gives a crap what they’re doing.

            • JobaWockeeZ says:

I really don’t care. K-Rod again does do it a lot but I still find Papelbon more annoying.
But yeah I just stepped in deadly waters so I think it’s best if we don’t talk about religion. Right now let’s soak in the win.

          • Luthien says:

Agreed. It really bothers me when I see players make a play or get a nice hit and then do the sign on the cross and point in the sky. I’m Catholic so I don’t have anything against religion; the fact that they think that God gave them, specifically, the strength or whatever to do what they did over the pitcher is pretty absurd.

            • Zach says:

So why is it ok for us to say they have ‘God given ability’ but not okay for them to thank him? Not fair to say its absurd, a guy slides into second and points up, maybe hes pointing up to a coach or father who died who taught him how to hit while he was younger, or maybe he’s thanking for his God given ability to be 6’4 and strong as mule with 20/10 eyesight and the ability to get in ‘the zone’ at the plate.

I hate KRod’s celebration like everyone but lets be fair.

  262. The Artist says:

At times like this, you JUST HAVE to check other fan sites to see what they’re saying

    http://www.prosportsdaily.com/.....y.php?f=28

    New threads-

“Well You All Got Your Wish
    I am leaving this site.

I would like to be banned I will not return to this site for as long as Castillo is on this team.

    Cya”

    and this one:

“Poll: Have You Given Up On Playoffs?
-Yes we do, and I hate Luis Castillo 2 20.00%
-No we don’t, and I REALLY HATE Castillo 8 80.00%”

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

LOL!! “those yankee retards are cheering but it was suppsoed to be an out”
Yeah let’s act like its an out and be sad! What a retard. Sorry but that’s completely moronic.

  263. MP says:

    one word.

    “amazin’”

    booya!

  264. The Artist says:

    Dear Mets:

I would like to thank you for making me and all Yankee fans forget the sick feeling I had in my stomach when I woke up today after being swept by the Sox. You’ve made me remember how strange and wonderful Baseball can be, and nobody else could have pulled it off in quite the special way you did. I love you guys. Don’t ever change.

    Love, Steve

  265. Bob Stone says:

To The Artist – That was just F’in great!!! (Sorry how I posted this comment but my Reply button isn’t working)

  266. Charlie says:

Just a fucking hilarious and awesome win, you can’t get a luckier one than that, though. Simply a gift from God, and luis castillo.

  267. Drew says:

June 12th baseball game >>>>>>>> Stanley cup Final.

  268. yankees=warriors says:

This game just gave “It’s not over till the last out is made.” a whole new meaning, LOL!

    Baseball is a wonderful sport.

  269. Dave says:

    Man Luis Castillo sounded pitiful

    • Zach says:

I dont hate the guy, he’s a Met but not really, so I kind of feel bad for him, he gets alot of crap from Mets fans, almost on ARod’s level. Now if it was Pedroia I would have loved it.

  270. bobmac says:

Steve, that was good.I love how everyone was beating Joe up for not using Mo in the 8th yesterday and today he’s getting bashed for bringing him in.There’s three and a half months of baseball left and everyone is in panick mode. You got to act like you’ve been in the end zone before and chill.

    • I don’t think anyone was bashing Girardi for making the move to Mo. Everyone was just angry that in a similar-but-not-really-’cause-last-night-was-much-more-crucial situation last night, Rivera wasn’t brought in.

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

      +9001
Girardi will never do anything right for some people because they need a scapegoat.

      • BklynJT says:

If a move doesn’t work in our favor, Girardi will get bashed. I don’t agree with it, but that’s just the nature of the beast.

  271. Zach says:

I just heard the call of the Castillo play on WFAN… AHAHAHAH!

  272. Dorian says:

Did anyone just here what Joba said? “I got away from my fastball” “I probably wasn’t as aggressive as I should have been”

    NUFF SAID

  273. handtius says:

I was at this game and the Yanks deserved it. They were hitting rockets all game, they just happened to be at people every time, except for the homeruns. Go figure they win on a dropped pop up!

  274. Dela G says:

    god loves the yankees

  275. John says:

can we ban him now, Mike?

  276. Drew says:

    Fuck off.
