    LETS GET EM YANKEES!

  2. Charlie says:

Oh fuck, Matsui is up. Here comes the DP.

  3. thurdonpaul says:

    lets go YANKEES !!!!!!!!!!

  4. Tom Zig says:

    Woo hoo Ron Villone

  5. Jose says:

Does anyone feel that typically the offense doesn’t show up for Joba?

  6. Yankees says:

    You got it meng.

  7. Re: Wolf’s last comment:

    This is reasonable:

Joba wasn’t great tonight, but he wasn’t as awful as you’re making it out to be. 11 baserunners in 6 innings is not good, but the fact that only 3 of those 11 scored is pretty good. Joba stayed out of trouble by striking out 6, but he did work himself into that trouble with some stupid walks–the walks to Nieves and Harris are inexcusable, 100% inexcusable. This game could’ve been much worse for Chamberlain, but he was able to limit the damage. That’s a good thing, and the beauty of a strikeout pitcher.

  8. John says:

THANK YOU! this spillover thread was overdue

  9. Tom Zig says:

He is proud of his fastball!

  10. John says:

I dont want this game to be another case of too little too late like last night

  11. Thaaaaaaaaaat looked like a strike.

    • Jose says:

You would be a pitcher’s umpire if you called this game. The second pitch was clearly wide off the plate.

      • The irony? Last night I called a game behind the plate and was real tight on the corners, but I was giving some leeway up and down.

        • Jose says:

haha, I guess its quite different watching on TV. Because if you called that a strike for me, you’d have to throw me out.

  12. pc69 says:

Can’t decide if Matsui grounds out or strikes out and does not score a run. Let’s hope I am ultra wrong.

  13. Let’s go, Hideki!

  14. Smitt Dog says:

Let’s get one or two here fellas. Come on!

  15. SouthernYankeeFan says:

Dear Matsui: Please dont strike out.

  16. DCR says:

    Come on Godzilla.

  17. SouthernYankeeFan says:

    Fuck I even asked nicely

  18. BigBlueAL says:

    WTF was Mastui swinging at?????

  19. Tom Zig says:

    Nice Melky imitation, Matsui

  20. Conan says:

Until last night, the GNats hadn’t won a road game since May 13th.

  21. pc69 says:

    Great AB Hideki. worthless fuck.

  22. Bad pitch to chase, Hideki.

  23. Smitt Dog says:

Hate to get racist, but it it looked like he was catching flies with chopstick there.

  24. Charlie says:

god matsui always looks so terrible on off speed pitches. He seems shocked every time, and he always whiffs. Hey fucktard, PITCHERS DON’T ONLY THROW FASTBALLS. Not like he can hit a fastball, either.

  25. JobaWockeeZ says:

The Yankees have the tying run at bat.

  26. pc69 says:

    Great Jorge.

I am calling a ground out to second. Yankees strand runners again.

  27. John says:

    Cmon JoPo

  28. DCR says:

    Goddamnit!

  29. Dela G says:

    damnit hideki

  30. Dela G says:

    damnit hideki

  31. Lanny says:

Matsui is done. We have to face some facts here. He turns on a bad pitch once a week. That’s it. He doesn’t bring anything to the table in the field or on the bases. Hes Berroa with power.

  32. dkidd says:

    come on jorge!

  33. Conan says:

Someone needs to extend the HR streak in this park.

  34. DCR says:

Typical that all the Matsui critics come out after he whiffs. Where were you clowns when he blasted that homer against the Mets a couple of games ago?

  35. Dela G says:

HIP HIP, JORGE! HIP HIP, JORGE!

  36. Wolf Williams says:

‘He kept it to three runs’…….

Okay, fine….. runs that were his fault and his alone. But again, excuse away, guys, excuse away….

    • John says:

no excuses needed…he pitched a quality game, which is more than enough. This is the offense’s fault

      • Honestly, it wasn’t a quality game. 11 runners in 6 innings isn’t quality. He limited the damage with the strikeouts, but I’ll call this a decent start.

    • 1) The reply button is your friend.
      2) What excuse was I giving? I said the walks to Nieves and Harris were inexcusable because, well, they were. 11 runners in 6 innings? No good. 6 strikeouts in 6 innings? Real good.

  37. JobaWockeeZ says:

Holy shit I think today makes us worse than LoHud. It’s saddening really. YEAH LETS DFA TEH WHOLE TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I R SMARTERS THAN CASHMAN AND TEH GIRARDI!!!!1111111 WE R NOT TEH RITTY LIEK TEH RED SOX!!111111

    • Charlie says:

That is not English. I though you said you were leaving before. How can you not criticize the way the yanks have been playing lately?

      • JobaWockeeZ says:

I left to eat. And yeah it’s mocking everyone complaining. Sure be mad but I don’t want to see a thousands comments like for everything. If you want to do that do it is one huge comment after the game explaining every fuck up the Yankees did.

    • pc69 says:

What do you expect, the Nationals are making the Yankees their bitches

    • Drew says:

I agree. Usually it’s like a 3 or 4:1 ratio of Lohudish comments to RABish comments. Today, it’s 1:1. So annoying…

    • The incessant bitching and moaning about dumb comments is almost as irritating as the dumb comments themselves. Just respond to the stuff you don’t like when it happens and leave it at that, there’s no need to never f’ng shut up about how dumb some people are.

  38. John says:

Jeter pinch hits for Pena right

  39. Charlie says:

can jeter pinch hit? we need him if jorge walks

  40. dkidd says:

    here comes the captain

  41. BigBlueAL says:

    Lets Go Jeter!!!!

  42. SouthernYankeeFan says:

ok jeter time to jam out with your ham out.

  43. Let’s go, Jeets.

  44. pc69 says:

    Over/under = groudout, flyout, single?

  45. NYQ says:

Wasn’t it great seeing Jeter poping out of the dugout?

  46. whozat says:

Is Jorge unclutch? Was Alex unclutch yesterday? If those two answers aren’t the same…

  47. dkidd says:

    jeter versus tavares

i’ll take this match-up any day

  48. Dela G says:

    here comes the captain!

  49. BigBlueAL says:

My God how bad is this bullpen that they bring in Ron Villone and follow that up by bringing in Julian Tavarez.

  50. whozat says:

Jeter grounds out in over/under 3 pitches?

    I say under.

  51. 3:00 AM at the night club gentlemen! Fatties beware!

  52. Dela G says:

[suzyn waldman] DEREK JETER IS COMING OUT OF THE DUGOUT! I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT I AM SEEING! OH MY GOD, ITS DEREK JETER!!! [/suzyn waldman]

  53. Larry says:

Like A-Rod last night, Posada just couldn’t get the run home from 3rd. What a failure that walk was. WE AREN’T PAYING POSADA TO WALK!

  54. Drew says:

C’mon Jetes. Tough spot here but we need ya.

  55. dkidd says:

    feels like the 9th inning

  56. Charlie says:

    jeter gets the runs in

    • Voice Of Reason says:

      Um,no.

      • Charlie says:

yea i know, WHAT THE FUCK WAS I THINKING??? THE YANKEES CAN’t SCORE AGAINST THE NATIONALS. They’re the best team in the league and they have the best pitching rotation in the history of the NL East.

  57. dkidd says:

what the hell was that?????? tavarez is awesomely crazy

  58. V says:

Shouldn’t it be a balk to suddenly change your delivery?

  59. NYQ says:

    This is terrible

  60. Voice Of Reason says:

    Jeter !!!
I need to rock out with my cock out. I am a Red Sox fan as you can see.

  61. pat says:

Trick pitches.. this is the team we’re losing to

  62. BigBlueAL says:

The sad part is, I am not surprised at all they didnt score that inning.

  63. Well that sucked.

  64. brian paul says:

is anyone watching the Nationals’ feed on mlb.tv

these two announcers are horriblly opinionated, its like listening to two nine year olds watch their favorite team in the privacy of their own living room.

  65. Charlie says:

God DAMNIT! This game fucking sucks. FUCK THIS OFFENSE. FUCK ALL OF THIS SHIT.

  66. SouthernYankeeFan says:

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK This is miserable.

  67. DCR says:

At least the starter is out of the game.

  68. John says:

    Aww cmon Jeter

  69. pc69 says:

Games Set and a series loss to teh Nationals.

    Way to go Yankees.

  70. Lanny says:

2 out of 3 from the worst team in major league history. I doubt the Sox lose 1 to them.

  71. Drew says:

    ohh pooter.

  72. Voice Of Reason says:

Getting shut out to the Nationals.LOL.
    This is priceless.

  73. Wolf Williams says:

It sure is inspiring watching the worst team in baseball make this potential AL champion look like the 1990 Yankees.

But, hey, we’re just disgruntled fans who don’t realize that not every game counts and the Yankees will flip a switch in August and rip off 20 wins in 25 games. Silly us for wanting a team on the field that actually puts away lesser teams.

How dare we take June games so seriously….

  74. Lily says:

this is what i waited for all day , to be shut out by the NATIONALS. not to mention their going on the road and the next 3 pitchers they haven’t seen yet so their goes 3 more losses

    • Voice Of Reason says:

Well at least you are a realist and know that the Yanks will lose the next 3 games. The Yankees are over rated. I can’t wait till the Red Sox spank them again and again and again over the summer.

  75. John says:

Not even ONE FUCKIN RUN EVEN THOUGH IT WAS 2ND AND 3RD AND NO OUT!!!!

ATROCIOUS…What is it with RISP and us?

  76. Lanny says:

The over under on Coke’s walks. 2.

  77. pat says:

Game threads have become such garbage, it’s really a shame.

  78. Drew says:

    Why is Kay reading this.

  79. Bleaks says:

Free tickets for you who couldn’t stay at the game tonight.

  80. brian paul says:

everyone needs to calm down. the game is still going, they are down by three, and they had an amazing month. if they didnt drop all those games to the sox, they would have a comfortable demand over first place.

calm down and root FOR your team instead of against them!

  81. SouthernYankeeFan says:

that will piss you off. and under on the walks.

  82. blee says:

we still got 2 innings right?
I think Arod needs to be moved up to 3 and Tex to 4.. not just for protection, but to get our best hitters Tex and Cano hitting closer to each other..

  83. Conan says:

0-4 with RISP. The whole team has come down with the Cano disease.

  84. Buddy says:

OK, time to move on… The Bitch Factor as it always does to good forums has finally come here.

    I’m out.

  85. Brett Gardner just broke himself.

  86. Lanny says:

    Ouch.

  87. pat says:

Uh oh.. we broke our gardner.

  88. SouthernYankeeFan says:

oh no not my little gritster.

  89. Bleaks says:

I’m thinking he has a concussion

  90. Mike Axisa says:

Okay, seriously, if people don’t stop cursing at each other and stop saying the Yankees suck because they’re losing to the Nats, I’m just going to start banning people.

We know they’re losing, we know the Nats have made them their bitches. We get it, now stop being a douche and ruining the quality of our site.

  91. Charlie says:

I’m just gonna let out another long
FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKk for the tragedy that is this game

  92. dkidd says:

this is officially the worst game ever. hope brett is okay

  93. NYQ says:

Oh shit please be ok Gardner.

  94. YankeeScribe says:

    Gardy looks hurt

  95. Drew says:

I always talk shit about Gardy and the wall. He showed something to me there though. I hope he’s aight.

  96. Charlie says:

I hate when guys run into walls. Now i understand Bobby Abreu’s fears.

  97. e mills says:

I’m under the impression that whoever is batting in the bottom of the 9th knows they need a walk-off to get a 9 game win streak going again

  98. dkidd says:

thank mo he’s all right. maybe this will bond the team

  99. Dela G says:

my god i hope gardner is ok

  100. e mills says:

I didn’t see, but they didn’t sub Leche for Nick did they in RF? Leche was gonna have to lead off anyway, but Grit didn’t need to hurt himself

  101. Lanny says:

Luckily we got Berroa on the bench just in case.

  102. SouthernYankeeFan says:

off topic but gardner looks like a pornstar i saw in a video once. and i hope he is ok.

  103. chriskeo says:

they need to win it for gardner, forgot about who the opponent is, let it be the red sox pen or the nationals, lets win it for grit

  104. Wolf Williams says:

No one’s rooting against the Yankees, but for fuck’s sake don’t ask people to make excuses for a group of professionals who allow this kind of game to happen two nights in a row. We can love the Yankees without loving them like a four-year-old loves its mommy, i.e. unconditionally and without an ounce of criticism.

We are allowed to demand and to expect more from this group. Losing is fine when you lose playing your best baseball. But right now this team looks leaderless and listless.

Argue with that all you want, but there is a large part of the fan base that agrees.

    • NYQ says:

      Definately

    • SouthernYankeeFan says:

It is very frustrating i will admit that. I like to think a month from now we will be looking back on this series as the one that woke the Yankees up and made them realize that they can not just walk in half hearted and win a game. IF they lose this game and i say IF then losing 2 out of 3 to the Natinals hopefully will be a wake up call.

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

Argue with that all you want, but there is a large part of the fan base that agrees.
      And unfortunately you are correct.

    • Accent Shallow says:

There’s a fine line between “This team is better than this,” and “DFA everyone who’s not named ‘Mariano Rivera’”.

  105. Evan says:

I’m hoping Gardner recovers quickly. That did not look good.

  106. Accent Shallow says:

I was unable to catch Joba on TV — how did he look? Line looks less than stellar, but not quite awful. How was the stuff?

  107. John says:

Here’s to hoping Gardy is okay

  108. BigBlueAL says:

Not good if Gardner is out for a few days considering next 9 games in NL parks. Wouldnt want to pre-maturely DL Gardner but they are going to need a 4th OFer since Matsui cant play the field.

BTW, man Gardner really hit his head hard on that play. Hope he is ok.

    • BigBlueAL says:

Actually no need to DL Gardner if not necessary, just DFA Berroa and bring up an OFer. Dunno who, assume maybe Shelley.

  109. pc69 says:

    Was Corey Patterson ever good?

  110. chriskeo says:

I’m sure our friends here at RAB will let us know everything we need to about the health of brett gardner

  111. pat says:

I think we can blame the bandbox on that one. If those walls are further away gardner doesn’t shatter his domepiece.

  112. DCR says:

I think we will win this game. I don’t know why, I just have a feeling.

  113. ChriS says:

Looked like Gardner expected that wall to flex a little; after the catch, he looked back and prepared for the wall to absorb his impact. It didn’t.

    Best case: big time headache
Worst case: he’s in the clubhouse throwing up because of a concussion.

  114. ChriS says:

Bullpen looks great … hopefully we can slow the bullpen sucks comments for a while.

    • kunaldo says:

and ramp up the offense sucks comments?

it’s just one game…but man this is so frustrating

  115. SouthernYankeeFan says:

    That was some good Coke.

  116. dkidd says:

six outs left. win it for brett!

  117. Stephen says:

    8th inning guy!!!!!

  118. pc69 says:

So the Phillies lost 5-6 to Boston and Toronto in Philly. Guess we caught them at the wrong time.

  119. John says:

Man, I wish MLB didn’t make us pay for watching the highlights on Gameday

  120. e mills says:

one thing that is disheartening, I think more so than the lack of runs this game, is the fact that the team as a whole does not click all at once. Bullpen pitching well, offense not scoring runs, etc…

  121. John says:

Okay top of the order, your teammate just sacrificed himself for you guys. Let’s win one for the Gritter!

  122. Slu says:

As a wise man once said, “It ain’t over till it’s over”.

  123. Drew says:

I missing burn notice. We better win this shit.

  124. dkidd says:

    good at-bat by melky

  125. e mills says:

    http://riveraveblues.com/2009/.....ent-438760

let’s let it all come to fruition

  126. Dela G says:

    phil coke was money

  127. e mills says:

rain delay in Boston…hope that game gets called and Marlins get the dubya

  128. John says:

Damn Damon’s AVG is down to .282…didn’t notice

  129. Evan says:

Come on, let’s get on, Johnny.

  130. NYQ says:

We need a Tex-message right about now

  131. Mike Axisa says:

Oh good grief, they have Kip Wells up in the pen? Why are the losing to this team again?

  132. pat says:

    Niice

  133. Dela G says:

man this sucks harder than pamela anderson

  134. Slu says:

    Alex is due.

  135. dkidd says:

    about to be 3-2

  136. John says:

    1st pitch outs!

  137. SouthernYankeeFan says:

well that was a painful last 3 at bats of the inning.

  138. Seriously A-Rod and Tex? Gotta have better ABs than that…

  139. Nick L says:

It might be just me, but it seems like the more I read the comments on the games threads night in and night out, I only look for the bad in the Yankees, never the good.

We all need to be more positive.

    • pc69 says:

Yes we do but the source of the anger needs to play to their potential instead of like the Baltimore Orioles.

    • jonathan says:

Well to be positive, our bullpen seems to be coming together with Phil, Phil, and Al picking up innings. Ummmm after that I am at a loss…out offence has been completely shutdown by 2 soft tossers. A-rod is crap, Joba has a whip over 2 and walk in a run….what do you got for positive. OH AND WE ARE ABOUT TO LOSE A HOME SERIES AGAINST THE WORST TEAM IN BASEBALL.

  140. pc69 says:

Hey the Yankees have no errors tonight. Sweet.

  141. Drew says:

    shitt…

  142. Lily says:

i just hope this is not whats going to happen the next 6 games. i think the next 6 pitchers they haven’t seen (unless vazquez pitches for atl).

  143. JobaWockeeZ says:

If no one hits a HR this will be the first game that no one has hit a HR at the NYS. I think.

  144. John says:

I wish this game had been rained out now

  145. Lanny says:

Well at least they’ll make the early flight they all tried so hard to make. Good job guys.

  146. I love Dave Robertson so much.

  147. pat says:

D-robb has a very interesting fastball, it only clocks in at 92-93 but he seems to blow it by everybody.

    • Accent Shallow says:

      Sneaky fast, I suppose.

Maybe because he’s short? Or they’re sitting breaking pitch?

  148. e mills says:

    Cano – single
    Swisher – walk
Matsui – double down the line
    Posada – HR

  149. Hunter Pence for Jose Veras.

    • BigBlueAL says:

Maybe they can throw in Lance Berkman too. We’ll give them Berroa as well to even it out.

  150. glick says:

yanks came out thinking jobas geting a shutout a bunch of fat cats that wanna go home and spend some money this game is pathetic come on !!!!!!! wake up 4 in the 9th !

  151. Blackdragon905 says:

Is it me or is Robertson throwing harder this year than last year? I remember last year he was around 90-91 but this year he has been at 93 consistently. I’ve even seen 94.

  152. BigBlueAL says:

    Will Nieves drawing walks.

  153. pc69 says:

Seriously, two night in a row your starting pitchers give up 3 runs and come away with losses both nights. That is just not good.

  154. Accent Shallow says:

Gameday is so upset at the Yankees’ performance that it’s refusing to load.

  155. Lanny says:

How does one walk Will Nieves?

  156. John says:

Papelbon said he’s wouldn’t rule out signing with the Yanks in 2011

  157. Wolf Williams says:

‘We need to be more positive”…………???

Okay, let’s al piss down each other’s backs and tell ourselves it’s just rain. “Be positive?” This team has brought nothing at all to the table for two straight games against the worst team in baseball, and we’re supposed to look for bright sides.

Is this Girardi’s post-game speech? “Guys….. let’s go, go, go! We’re gonna fight, fight, fight! No matter what anyone says, I love all you guys. No…. I POSITIVELY love all you guys! Now, tomorrow’s another day, and I just know, as sure as the Lord made goody-goody-gum-drops, that we’re a better team than this. Group hug, everybody. AJ, get the pies out of the freezer…..”

    • Moshe Mandel says:

That’s the thing. You have no idea what Girardi says to the team, you you come hear complaining about it.

    • Mike Axisa says:

Okay, we got it. You’ve been preaching it all night. Give it a rest please. I’m asking nicely.

    • John says:

Yes losses are frustrating BUT you don’t have to make it the end of the world. Criticize the bad play but don’t say dumb stuff (now im not accusing of saying this but others do) like:

-The Yanks don’t try hard enough
-If this was the Red Sox, they would have crushed them
      -Fire Girardi/Cashman
-We suck and we’re going to miss the postseason even though its only June 18th
-DFA _____ because they didn’t get a hit
      - Joba to the pen
      - A-rod/Cano/the rest of the team is unclutch
      -and many more asinine things

    • Drew says:

Go cry about it. You whine like a woman.

  158. JackC says:

Game’s not over yet, but if not for Luis Castillo the Yanks would be staring at their 7th loss in their last 9 games — 4 of them to NL east clubs. It’s the bipolar nature of this club and its component parts — a Jekyll and Hyde offense, starters and bullpen that has me a little concerned

  159. Mike Axisa says:

C’mon D-Rob, it’s Wil Nieves at first. Stop throwing over, he’s not going anywhere.

  160. Mike Pop says:

    Oh boy. This. Is. Frustrating.

  161. John says:

Nieves came in with a .297 OBP but draws 2 walks…go figure

  162. What was the crowd chanting?

  163. Lanny says:

Yea, keep Nieves close. Makes more sense.

  164. Wolf Williams says:

No Papelbon, no Pedro, never, as in not ever….. It’s hard enough for me to watch Damon in a Yankees uniform after his hand in that 2004 fiasco.

I’d rather lose without signing turncoats.

  165. BigBlueAL says:

When did Nieves morph into Rickey Henderson???

  166. Slu says:

    Pitch Out!?!

  167. Mike Axisa says:

    A PITCH OUT?!?!?!?!?!?

  168. Lanny says:

I don’t know how you walk a scrub hitter like Nieves, down 3 runs, in the top of the 9th.

This is why Girardi doesn’t trust him. Would you?

  169. JackC says:

On the bright side, in these tough economic times, the Yankees have at least likely delayed Acta losing his job.

  170. The Artist says:

I hope Gritt Gutner is OK. I’m guessing he just got his bell rung hitting that wall.

  171. pc69 says:

Well, maybe they can win one tomorrow.

  172. Maybe Zimmerman’ll have another deuce dropped on him.

  173. BklynJT says:
