• Dela G

    LETS GET EM YANKEES!

  • Charlie

Oh fuck, Matsui is up. Here comes the DP.

    • Charlie

nevermind, thought it was 1st and 3rd

    • Drew

r u watching the game or no?

  • thurdonpaul

    lets go YANKEES !!!!!!!!!!

  • Tom Zig

    Woo hoo Ron Villone

    • NYQ

WOW go back to Japan Matsui

  • Jose

Does anyone feel that typically the offense doesn’t show up for Joba?

  • Yankees

    You got it meng.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Re: Wolf’s last comment:

    This is reasonable:

Joba wasn’t great tonight, but he wasn’t as awful as you’re making it out to be. 11 baserunners in 6 innings is not good, but the fact that only 3 of those 11 scored is pretty good. Joba stayed out of trouble by striking out 6, but he did work himself into that trouble with some stupid walks–the walks to Nieves and Harris are inexcusable, 100% inexcusable. This game could’ve been much worse for Chamberlain, but he was able to limit the damage. That’s a good thing, and the beauty of a strikeout pitcher.

    • http://farm1.static.flickr.com/153/413671602_daded72a81_m.jpg The Honorable Congressman Mondesi

Also re: Wolf’s last comment –

“You clowns do all the name-calling you want… You guys come back with all the childish name-calling you want to…” [emphasis added]

      Hypocritical.

      • Dela G

        hahahahaha pot meet kettle

    • DCR

Agreed 100%. I was harsh on him but the way he kept it to three runs was impressive.

    • Dela G

      i def agree.

Someone needs to work with him to get that velocity back to 98mph

david price was throwing high 90s the entire start last night.

      • JackC

Has he consistently hit 97-98 at all since his injury in Texas?

  • John

THANK YOU! this spillover thread was overdue

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    HE SAID IT!!!!!

  • Tom Zig

He is proud of his fastball!

  • John

I dont want this game to be another case of too little too late like last night

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Thaaaaaaaaaat looked like a strike.

    • Jose

You would be a pitcher’s umpire if you called this game. The second pitch was clearly wide off the plate.

      • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

The irony? Last night I called a game behind the plate and was real tight on the corners, but I was giving some leeway up and down.

        • Jose

haha, I guess its quite different watching on TV. Because if you called that a strike for me, you’d have to throw me out.

  • pc69

Can’t decide if Matsui grounds out or strikes out and does not score a run. Let’s hope I am ultra wrong.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Let’s go, Hideki!

  • Smitt Dog

Let’s get one or two here fellas. Come on!

  • SouthernYankeeFan

Dear Matsui: Please dont strike out.

  • DCR

    Come on Godzilla.

  • SouthernYankeeFan

    Fuck I even asked nicely

  • BigBlueAL

    WTF was Mastui swinging at?????

  • Tom Zig

    Nice Melky imitation, Matsui

  • http://theyankeebomber.blogspot.com Conan

Until last night, the GNats hadn’t won a road game since May 13th.

  • pc69

    Great AB Hideki. worthless fuck.

    • Charlie

can we sell him to japan like we did with todd linden?

      • pc69

That would start an international crisis. They don’t want him back.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Bad pitch to chase, Hideki.

  • Smitt Dog

Hate to get racist, but it it looked like he was catching flies with chopstick there.

    • DCR

      This made me laugh.

  • Charlie

god matsui always looks so terrible on off speed pitches. He seems shocked every time, and he always whiffs. Hey fucktard, PITCHERS DON’T ONLY THROW FASTBALLS. Not like he can hit a fastball, either.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Um, the pitch he struck out on was a fastball…

  • JobaWockeeZ

The Yankees have the tying run at bat.

  • pc69

    Great Jorge.

I am calling a ground out to second. Yankees strand runners again.

    • Charlie

      nah, i say strikeout swinging

  • John

    Cmon JoPo

  • DCR

    Goddamnit!

  • Dela G

    damnit hideki

  • Dela G

    damnit hideki

  • Lanny

Matsui is done. We have to face some facts here. He turns on a bad pitch once a week. That’s it. He doesn’t bring anything to the table in the field or on the bases. Hes Berroa with power.

    • Charlie

yes matsui sucks, but don’t dare compare him to berroa. No human deserves that.

      • pc69

        that is funny.

      • http://farm1.static.flickr.com/153/413671602_daded72a81_m.jpg The Honorable Congressman Mondesi

Well Matsui has the knees of a 60 year old man, so they have that in common at least.

        WOCKA WOCKA!

        (shoots self in head)

        • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

          Is that you, Pete?

    • Jose

He has Pena’s power, Posada’s speed, and Damon’s arm. DFA him and sign Barry Bonds. Trade Veras for Jason Bay.

  • dkidd

    come on jorge!

  • http://theyankeebomber.blogspot.com Conan

Someone needs to extend the HR streak in this park.

  • DCR

Typical that all the Matsui critics come out after he whiffs. Where were you clowns when he blasted that homer against the Mets a couple of games ago?

    • JobaWockeeZ

Cheering of course. What do you think, it’s the lowest form of Yankee fans.

  • Dela G

HIP HIP, JORGE! HIP HIP, JORGE!

  • Wolf Williams

‘He kept it to three runs’…….

Okay, fine….. runs that were his fault and his alone. But again, excuse away, guys, excuse away….

    • John

no excuses needed…he pitched a quality game, which is more than enough. This is the offense’s fault

      • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Honestly, it wasn’t a quality game. 11 runners in 6 innings isn’t quality. He limited the damage with the strikeouts, but I’ll call this a decent start.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      1) The reply button is your friend.
      2) What excuse was I giving? I said the walks to Nieves and Harris were inexcusable because, well, they were. 11 runners in 6 innings? No good. 6 strikeouts in 6 innings? Real good.

  • JobaWockeeZ

Holy shit I think today makes us worse than LoHud. It’s saddening really. YEAH LETS DFA TEH WHOLE TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I R SMARTERS THAN CASHMAN AND TEH GIRARDI!!!!1111111 WE R NOT TEH RITTY LIEK TEH RED SOX!!111111

    • Charlie

That is not English. I though you said you were leaving before. How can you not criticize the way the yanks have been playing lately?

      • JobaWockeeZ

I left to eat. And yeah it’s mocking everyone complaining. Sure be mad but I don’t want to see a thousands comments like for everything. If you want to do that do it is one huge comment after the game explaining every fuck up the Yankees did.

    • pc69

What do you expect, the Nationals are making the Yankees their bitches

    • Drew

I agree. Usually it’s like a 3 or 4:1 ratio of Lohudish comments to RABish comments. Today, it’s 1:1. So annoying…

    • http://farm1.static.flickr.com/153/413671602_daded72a81_m.jpg The Honorable Congressman Mondesi

The incessant bitching and moaning about dumb comments is almost as irritating as the dumb comments themselves. Just respond to the stuff you don’t like when it happens and leave it at that, there’s no need to never f’ng shut up about how dumb some people are.

      • BigBlueAL

        Amen.

      • Jose

Tell us how you really feel.

      • JobaWockeeZ

Never shutting about people being dumb? Okay. I never said they were stupid. Never is that post did I say these people are stupid or dumb. They’re mad yeah but it’s annoying. How come I don’t get to vent?

  • John

Jeter pinch hits for Pena right

  • Charlie

can jeter pinch hit? we need him if jorge walks

  • dkidd

    here comes the captain

  • BigBlueAL

    Lets Go Jeter!!!!

  • SouthernYankeeFan

ok jeter time to jam out with your ham out.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Let’s go, Jeets.

  • pc69

    Over/under = groudout, flyout, single?

    • Dela G

      i say double :D

      • NYQ

        little popout 2 shortstop

    • Charlie

if the flyout is a push, then i’ll push

    • DCR

      Give it a rest.

    • Charlie

do you not understand what over/under is? ITS WITH NUMBERS, not words.

      • pat

THE FILES ARE INSIDE THE COMPUTER

      • pc69

So assign numbers. WTF does it matter, he didn’t produce.

Here are some numbers for you.

Left 12 men on base – 0-4 as a team with RISP.

  • NYQ

Wasn’t it great seeing Jeter poping out of the dugout?

  • whozat

Is Jorge unclutch? Was Alex unclutch yesterday? If those two answers aren’t the same…

    • http://www.retire21.org Mike R. – Retire 21

They are the same. In both cases “unclutch does not exist”. Your welcome. :)

  • dkidd

    jeter versus tavares

i’ll take this match-up any day

  • Dela G

    here comes the captain!

  • BigBlueAL

My God how bad is this bullpen that they bring in Ron Villone and follow that up by bringing in Julian Tavarez.

  • whozat

Jeter grounds out in over/under 3 pitches?

    I say under.

  • http://www.retire21.org Mike R. – Retire 21

3:00 AM at the night club gentlemen! Fatties beware!

    • Smitt Dog

      IETC greatly

    • DCR

Tavarez sucks but he has provided some quality funnies over his career. Remember when he said if he wasn’t playing he would be making pornographic movies?

  • Dela G

[suzyn waldman] DEREK JETER IS COMING OUT OF THE DUGOUT! I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT I AM SEEING! OH MY GOD, ITS DEREK JETER!!! [/suzyn waldman]

    • Drew

      ietc

  • Larry

Like A-Rod last night, Posada just couldn’t get the run home from 3rd. What a failure that walk was. WE AREN’T PAYING POSADA TO WALK!

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      This is sarcasm, right?

      • Larry

Absolutely not. What really bothers me is that Posada looked a little too happy with that walk.

        • V

It’s got to be satire. No one is THIS stupid.

        • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

          Now I know it is.

        • pat

Now you’tre just being an asshole.. hes supposed to swing at balls? Get fuckin real you’re not even that good at being a troll.

    • DCR

      Please shut up.

    • JobaWockeeZ

Now I am convinced you are joking.

    • NYQ

Agreed but this puts to winning run to the plate

  • Drew

C’mon Jetes. Tough spot here but we need ya.

  • dkidd

    feels like the 9th inning

  • Charlie

    jeter gets the runs in

    • Voice Of Reason

      Um,no.

      • Charlie

yea i know, WHAT THE FUCK WAS I THINKING??? THE YANKEES CAN’t SCORE AGAINST THE NATIONALS. They’re the best team in the league and they have the best pitching rotation in the history of the NL East.

  • dkidd

what the hell was that?????? tavarez is awesomely crazy

  • V

Shouldn’t it be a balk to suddenly change your delivery?

  • NYQ

    This is terrible

  • Voice Of Reason

    Jeter !!!
I need to rock out with my cock out. I am a Red Sox fan as you can see.

    • pat

      huh?

      • Voice Of Reason

Did he get any rbi’s? The answer is no.

        • pat

          haha

    • NYQ

Fuck you. The Red Sox are also losing. You should suck it there.

  • pat

Trick pitches.. this is the team we’re losing to

  • BigBlueAL

The sad part is, I am not surprised at all they didnt score that inning.

    • Charlie

      same here

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

    Yawn.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Well that sucked.

  • brian paul

is anyone watching the Nationals’ feed on mlb.tv

these two announcers are horriblly opinionated, its like listening to two nine year olds watch their favorite team in the privacy of their own living room.

  • Charlie

God DAMNIT! This game fucking sucks. FUCK THIS OFFENSE. FUCK ALL OF THIS SHIT.

  • SouthernYankeeFan

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK This is miserable.

  • DCR

At least the starter is out of the game.

  • John

    Aww cmon Jeter

  • pc69

Games Set and a series loss to teh Nationals.

    Way to go Yankees.

  • Lanny

2 out of 3 from the worst team in major league history. I doubt the Sox lose 1 to them.

    • V

      Go back to SoSH.

  • Drew

    ohh pooter.

    • Charlie

that does not express what I am feeling at all right now

  • Voice Of Reason

Getting shut out to the Nationals.LOL.
    This is priceless.

  • Wolf Williams

It sure is inspiring watching the worst team in baseball make this potential AL champion look like the 1990 Yankees.

But, hey, we’re just disgruntled fans who don’t realize that not every game counts and the Yankees will flip a switch in August and rip off 20 wins in 25 games. Silly us for wanting a team on the field that actually puts away lesser teams.

How dare we take June games so seriously….

    • John

take them seriously but dont say that our season is over already

  • Lily

this is what i waited for all day , to be shut out by the NATIONALS. not to mention their going on the road and the next 3 pitchers they haven’t seen yet so their goes 3 more losses

    • Voice Of Reason

Well at least you are a realist and know that the Yanks will lose the next 3 games. The Yankees are over rated. I can’t wait till the Red Sox spank them again and again and again over the summer.

  • John

Not even ONE FUCKIN RUN EVEN THOUGH IT WAS 2ND AND 3RD AND NO OUT!!!!

ATROCIOUS…What is it with RISP and us?

    • http://theyankeeuniverse.com Moshe Mandel

      There was one out.

  • Lanny

The over under on Coke’s walks. 2.

    • Charlie

under, coke has been great. It’s the fuucking offense, not the pitching

  • pat

Game threads have become such garbage, it’s really a shame.

  • Drew

    Why is Kay reading this.

  • Bleaks

Free tickets for you who couldn’t stay at the game tonight.

  • brian paul

everyone needs to calm down. the game is still going, they are down by three, and they had an amazing month. if they didnt drop all those games to the sox, they would have a comfortable demand over first place.

calm down and root FOR your team instead of against them!

  • SouthernYankeeFan

that will piss you off. and under on the walks.

  • blee

we still got 2 innings right?
I think Arod needs to be moved up to 3 and Tex to 4.. not just for protection, but to get our best hitters Tex and Cano hitting closer to each other..

  • http://theyankeebomber.blogspot.com Conan

0-4 with RISP. The whole team has come down with the Cano disease.

  • Buddy

OK, time to move on… The Bitch Factor as it always does to good forums has finally come here.

    I’m out.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Brett Gardner just broke himself.

  • Lanny

    Ouch.

  • pat

Uh oh.. we broke our gardner.

  • SouthernYankeeFan

oh no not my little gritster.

  • Bleaks

I’m thinking he has a concussion

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Okay, seriously, if people don’t stop cursing at each other and stop saying the Yankees suck because they’re losing to the Nats, I’m just going to start banning people.

We know they’re losing, we know the Nats have made them their bitches. We get it, now stop being a douche and ruining the quality of our site.

    • teix is the man

      sorry mike

I’m just gonna let out another long
FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKk for the tragedy that is this game

    • V

You’re so cool. I want to be like you when I grow up.

  • dkidd

this is officially the worst game ever. hope brett is okay

  • NYQ

Oh shit please be ok Gardner.

  • YankeeScribe

    Gardy looks hurt

  • Drew

I always talk shit about Gardy and the wall. He showed something to me there though. I hope he’s aight.

  • Charlie

I hate when guys run into walls. Now i understand Bobby Abreu’s fears.

    • NYQ

      True

    • Yankee1010

Do you hate when they stop 10 feet short though?

    • Slu

This comment made me feel a bit better.

      Thanks.

  • e mills

I’m under the impression that whoever is batting in the bottom of the 9th knows they need a walk-off to get a 9 game win streak going again

  • dkidd

thank mo he’s all right. maybe this will bond the team

  • Dela G

my god i hope gardner is ok

  • e mills

I didn’t see, but they didn’t sub Leche for Nick did they in RF? Leche was gonna have to lead off anyway, but Grit didn’t need to hurt himself

    • e mills

Leche got this. He’s coming through in the bottom to start the rally.

  • Lanny

Luckily we got Berroa on the bench just in case.

  • SouthernYankeeFan

off topic but gardner looks like a pornstar i saw in a video once. and i hope he is ok.

  • chriskeo

they need to win it for gardner, forgot about who the opponent is, let it be the red sox pen or the nationals, lets win it for grit

  • Wolf Williams

No one’s rooting against the Yankees, but for fuck’s sake don’t ask people to make excuses for a group of professionals who allow this kind of game to happen two nights in a row. We can love the Yankees without loving them like a four-year-old loves its mommy, i.e. unconditionally and without an ounce of criticism.

We are allowed to demand and to expect more from this group. Losing is fine when you lose playing your best baseball. But right now this team looks leaderless and listless.

Argue with that all you want, but there is a large part of the fan base that agrees.

    • NYQ

      Definately

    • SouthernYankeeFan

It is very frustrating i will admit that. I like to think a month from now we will be looking back on this series as the one that woke the Yankees up and made them realize that they can not just walk in half hearted and win a game. IF they lose this game and i say IF then losing 2 out of 3 to the Natinals hopefully will be a wake up call.

      • JackC

I’m not so sure — they seem like one streaky bunch of sumbitches

    • JobaWockeeZ

Argue with that all you want, but there is a large part of the fan base that agrees.
      And unfortunately you are correct.

    • Accent Shallow

There’s a fine line between “This team is better than this,” and “DFA everyone who’s not named ‘Mariano Rivera'”.

  • http://and-that-happened.blogspot.com Evan

I’m hoping Gardner recovers quickly. That did not look good.

  • Accent Shallow

I was unable to catch Joba on TV — how did he look? Line looks less than stellar, but not quite awful. How was the stuff?

    • NYQ

      Terrible

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

At times very good, at times not so good. He had some inexcusable walks (Willie Harris, Wil Nieves) and left some pitches up to Dunn and Zimmerman that they hit hard. Like I said: 11 runners in 6 IP? Not good. 6 Ks to limit the damage? Good.

    • e mills

normal. couple bad pitches here and there, battled, etc…

    • JackC

Less wild than against the Mets, but more hittable

      • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

        That’s a good assessment.

    • Drew

Stuff was okay. He could’ve came out for the 6th after mowing thru the fifth but you know how that goes… 100 pitches is the limit b4 his arm spontaneously busts.

  • John

Here’s to hoping Gardy is okay

  • BigBlueAL

Not good if Gardner is out for a few days considering next 9 games in NL parks. Wouldnt want to pre-maturely DL Gardner but they are going to need a 4th OFer since Matsui cant play the field.

BTW, man Gardner really hit his head hard on that play. Hope he is ok.

    • BigBlueAL

Actually no need to DL Gardner if not necessary, just DFA Berroa and bring up an OFer. Dunno who, assume maybe Shelley.

  • pc69

    Was Corey Patterson ever good?

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Some people used to think he was good. Does that count?

      • dkidd

        ietc

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      In high school.

    • Accent Shallow

      Yes.

      I mean, sorta.

    • http://and-that-happened.blogspot.com Evan

He had a decent stretch in ’03-’04 with the Cubs.

    • BigBlueAL

      Dusty Baker loved him.

  • chriskeo

I’m sure our friends here at RAB will let us know everything we need to about the health of brett gardner

  • pat

I think we can blame the bandbox on that one. If those walls are further away gardner doesn’t shatter his domepiece.

  • DCR

I think we will win this game. I don’t know why, I just have a feeling.

  • ChriS

Looked like Gardner expected that wall to flex a little; after the catch, he looked back and prepared for the wall to absorb his impact. It didn’t.

    Best case: big time headache
Worst case: he’s in the clubhouse throwing up because of a concussion.

    • e mills

dude, that’s just a bump on the head to Grit. He’ll be back swiping bases in no time.

    • JackC

Not to be dour, but given the nature of head trauma, a concussion wouldn’t be at all good, but it would be far from the worst case

    • pat

Theres no way he doesn’t have a concussion that was a ridiculous blow to the head.

      • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Yeah, that was bad. No need to screw around with this, DL him and keep him in NY. They have the extra 40-man spot to play around with when they DFA’d Veras, so call someone up.

        • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Assuming he’s actually concussed, of course.

          • dkidd

the mets called to say that gardner should just tough it out

            • Pasqua

The Mets are actually calling it a hangnail. He’s day to day.

  • ChriS

Bullpen looks great … hopefully we can slow the bullpen sucks comments for a while.

    • kunaldo

and ramp up the offense sucks comments?

it’s just one game…but man this is so frustrating

  • SouthernYankeeFan

    That was some good Coke.

  • dkidd

six outs left. win it for brett!

  • Stephen

    8th inning guy!!!!!

    • chriskeo

      swisher?

    • Charlie

i’m not sure if this game is more maddening or saddening

      • Charlie

        great, not a reply

  • pc69

So the Phillies lost 5-6 to Boston and Toronto in Philly. Guess we caught them at the wrong time.

    • SouthernYankeeFan

no they caught us at a good time.

  • John

Man, I wish MLB didn’t make us pay for watching the highlights on Gameday

    • Dela G

      buy yourself mlb.tv

best purchase i make every year

  • e mills

one thing that is disheartening, I think more so than the lack of runs this game, is the fact that the team as a whole does not click all at once. Bullpen pitching well, offense not scoring runs, etc…

    • John

      just imagine if we did…

      • Lanny

        That goes for every team.

  • John

Okay top of the order, your teammate just sacrificed himself for you guys. Let’s win one for the Gritter!

  • Slu

As a wise man once said, “It ain’t over till it’s over”.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Wisemen say forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza.

  • Drew

I missing burn notice. We better win this shit.

  • dkidd

  • John

Damn Damon’s AVG is down to .282…didn’t notice

    • Dela G

he’s about to move it up…

    • JobaWockeeZ

      Yeah it dipped pretty fast.

  • http://and-that-happened.blogspot.com Evan

Come on, let’s get on, Johnny.

    • http://and-that-happened.blogspot.com Evan

      Or not. :/

  • NYQ

We need a Tex-message right about now

    • Teix is the man

      signal lost =(

    • NYQ

      Ok maybe an A-bomb

      • NYQ

Darn you John Sterling homerun calls.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Oh good grief, they have Kip Wells up in the pen? Why are the losing to this team again?

  • John

    1st pitch outs!

  • SouthernYankeeFan

well that was a painful last 3 at bats of the inning.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Seriously A-Rod and Tex? Gotta have better ABs than that…

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

      Yeah, no kidding.

  • Nick L

It might be just me, but it seems like the more I read the comments on the games threads night in and night out, I only look for the bad in the Yankees, never the good.

We all need to be more positive.

    • pc69

Yes we do but the source of the anger needs to play to their potential instead of like the Baltimore Orioles.

    • jonathan

Well to be positive, our bullpen seems to be coming together with Phil, Phil, and Al picking up innings. Ummmm after that I am at a loss…out offence has been completely shutdown by 2 soft tossers. A-rod is crap, Joba has a whip over 2 and walk in a run….what do you got for positive. OH AND WE ARE ABOUT TO LOSE A HOME SERIES AGAINST THE WORST TEAM IN BASEBALL.

  • pc69

Hey the Yankees have no errors tonight. Sweet.

  • Drew

    shitt…

  • Lily

i just hope this is not whats going to happen the next 6 games. i think the next 6 pitchers they haven’t seen (unless vazquez pitches for atl).

    • BigBlueAL

With the way they are swinging the bats, Josh Johnson should be salivating.

  • JobaWockeeZ

If no one hits a HR this will be the first game that no one has hit a HR at the NYS. I think.

    • http://and-that-happened.blogspot.com Evan

      You’d be correct.

    • John

so that’s why the offense is not trying to get hits. They want the bandbox shit to end. They though they could score with singles and walks against the Nationals but i guess it just didnt happen.

    • Jamal G.

      Correct.

  • John

I wish this game had been rained out now

  • Lanny

Well at least they’ll make the early flight they all tried so hard to make. Good job guys.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

I love Dave Robertson so much.

  • pat

D-robb has a very interesting fastball, it only clocks in at 92-93 but he seems to blow it by everybody.

    • Accent Shallow

      Sneaky fast, I suppose.

Maybe because he’s short? Or they’re sitting breaking pitch?

  • e mills

    Cano – single
    Swisher – walk
Matsui – double down the line
    Posada – HR

    • NYQ

I wish, but it will never happen.

    • John

      I love it…please Mo.

    • pc69

      Maybe on Xbox or Playstation.

      • e mills

I don’t have either, so I’m gonna say maybe in NYS on 6/18

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Hunter Pence for Jose Veras.

    • BigBlueAL

Maybe they can throw in Lance Berkman too. We’ll give them Berroa as well to even it out.

  • glick

yanks came out thinking jobas geting a shutout a bunch of fat cats that wanna go home and spend some money this game is pathetic come on !!!!!!! wake up 4 in the 9th !

  • Blackdragon905

Is it me or is Robertson throwing harder this year than last year? I remember last year he was around 90-91 but this year he has been at 93 consistently. I’ve even seen 94.

    • Zach

are you going by the YES gun or gameday?

      • Blackdragon905

        Gameday.

  • BigBlueAL

    Will Nieves drawing walks.

  • pc69

Seriously, two night in a row your starting pitchers give up 3 runs and come away with losses both nights. That is just not good.

  • Accent Shallow

Gameday is so upset at the Yankees’ performance that it’s refusing to load.

  • Lanny

How does one walk Will Nieves?

  • John

Papelbon said he’s wouldn’t rule out signing with the Yanks in 2011

    • e mills

      ?

  • Wolf Williams

‘We need to be more positive”…………???

Okay, let’s al piss down each other’s backs and tell ourselves it’s just rain. “Be positive?” This team has brought nothing at all to the table for two straight games against the worst team in baseball, and we’re supposed to look for bright sides.

Is this Girardi’s post-game speech? “Guys….. let’s go, go, go! We’re gonna fight, fight, fight! No matter what anyone says, I love all you guys. No…. I POSITIVELY love all you guys! Now, tomorrow’s another day, and I just know, as sure as the Lord made goody-goody-gum-drops, that we’re a better team than this. Group hug, everybody. AJ, get the pies out of the freezer…..”

    • http://theyankeeuniverse.com Moshe Mandel

That’s the thing. You have no idea what Girardi says to the team, you you come hear complaining about it.

      • Wolf Williams

Whatever he says, it does not work.

      • http://theyankeeuniverse.com Moshe Mandel

Wow, that is a poorly composed comment.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Okay, we got it. You’ve been preaching it all night. Give it a rest please. I’m asking nicely.

    • John

Yes losses are frustrating BUT you don’t have to make it the end of the world. Criticize the bad play but don’t say dumb stuff (now im not accusing of saying this but others do) like:

-The Yanks don’t try hard enough
-If this was the Red Sox, they would have crushed them
      -Fire Girardi/Cashman
-We suck and we’re going to miss the postseason even though its only June 18th
-DFA _____ because they didn’t get a hit
      – Joba to the pen
      – A-rod/Cano/the rest of the team is unclutch
      -and many more asinine things

    • Drew

Go cry about it. You whine like a woman.

  • JackC

Game’s not over yet, but if not for Luis Castillo the Yanks would be staring at their 7th loss in their last 9 games — 4 of them to NL east clubs. It’s the bipolar nature of this club and its component parts — a Jekyll and Hyde offense, starters and bullpen that has me a little concerned

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

C’mon D-Rob, it’s Wil Nieves at first. Stop throwing over, he’s not going anywhere.

  • Mike Pop

    Oh boy. This. Is. Frustrating.

  • John

Nieves came in with a .297 OBP but draws 2 walks…go figure

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    What was the crowd chanting?

    • Lanny

      Let Berroa play.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

      I think MICH-AEL KA-AY

    • Nick L

      Michael Kay?

    • Mike Francesa

That would bee JOBA TOOO DA PEN…

  • Lanny

Yea, keep Nieves close. Makes more sense.

  • Wolf Williams

No Papelbon, no Pedro, never, as in not ever….. It’s hard enough for me to watch Damon in a Yankees uniform after his hand in that 2004 fiasco.

I’d rather lose without signing turncoats.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      REPLY BUTTON.

    • Accent Shallow

I don’t think there’s any reason to sign Pedro, unless he’s suddenly become PEDRO again.

Papelbon? Boy would that be awful to watch. Hopefully his shoulder explodes before then, rendering the point moot.

    • JobaWockeeZ

Who are you talking about specifically?

  • BigBlueAL

When did Nieves morph into Rickey Henderson???

  • Slu

    Pitch Out!?!

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

    A PITCH OUT?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Lanny

I don’t know how you walk a scrub hitter like Nieves, down 3 runs, in the top of the 9th.

This is why Girardi doesn’t trust him. Would you?

  • JackC

On the bright side, in these tough economic times, the Yankees have at least likely delayed Acta losing his job.

    • Zach

      his contract is guaranteed

      • JackC

What happened to the whole needing to be more positive thing?

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

I hope Gritt Gutner is OK. I’m guessing he just got his bell rung hitting that wall.

  • pc69

Well, maybe they can win one tomorrow.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Maybe Zimmerman’ll have another deuce dropped on him.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      WOOO!

  • BklynJT

Do my eyes deceive me? Did Posada just block a ball in the dirt?

  • Charlie

i’m not sure if this game is more maddening or saddening

  • Dela G

my god, i dont want to face zimmerman

  • dkidd

not saying we can’t come back, but imagine paying $120, sitting in the rain for 5 hours, then watching this game? free tickets aren’t worth it

  • Charlie

come on drob, don’t be afraid to throw strikes.. its worked all year for ya

  • JobaWockeeZ

    Wow nice D-Rob
