  1. The Artist says:

    79 pitches through 6.

We need to get into their bullpen.

  2. Dela G says:

at this point, we need jesus

  3. John says:

AJ and Berroa took 6 pitches and Jeter only 3…DFA him!

  4. Accent Shallow says:

Odds the Yankees see the Marlins pen:

    For 1 inning: 2-1
For more than 1 inning: 15-1
    Not at all: 5-1

  5. stuart says:

shocking good pitching dominates what a concept…

we are good for at least 1 more cano 2 pitch AB and 1 swisher strikeout……

  6. The Artist says:

Hopefully, Alex gets a chance to Bitch tit at some point in this game.

  7. pc69 says:

Hopefully Atlanta wins. Yanks can’t figure this guy out.

  8. AsianShuutoHeat says:

    m0ar hitx pl0x…

  9. I’m sure that MRI for Dice-K will find something.

    • Zach says:

      Igawa ’09: 0 loses – DiceK ’09: 5 loses

      Cashman >>>>>>>> Theo

    • Accent Shallow says:

Clearly a DL stint is coming, whether that MRI finds something or not.

    • AsianShuutoHeat says:

      it might be his eye!
      check his nails too!

    • Mike Axisa says:

      Inflammation of the ERA.

    • The Artist says:

      His fastball?

      Bobby Valentines’ hotel room key?

A note from Scott Boras, saying “I’ll give you $1 million if you don’t tell Theo about THIS ->”

    • Jose says:

I’m hoping that he comes out and says something to the effect of “I am not injured” and the Red Sox get punished by the commissioner.

I invented this new injury test for baseball, using a cotton swab. You touch the cotton swab to a player and a pagan witch doctor can instantly diagnose that player with anxiety disorder. Patent pending.

  10. Tank the Frank says:

    I can has baserunners?

Either I missed something or you’re drinking Wild Turkey.

  11. AJ says:

Of COURSE Beckett is dominating and the Sox are up 2-0..

  12. John says:

cant walk .287 OBP emilio AJ!!!!!!!

  13. whozat says:

Four pitch walk to bonifacio = boo.

  14. John says:

    i hope AJ doesnt implode

    • Tank the Frank says:

It’s entirely possible. This inning has a bad feeling to it. No bull dance… no flow…

  15. AJ says:

    Fantasy Trade:
    a) Matt Holliday, Brandon Phillips and Joba for:

    b) Magglio Ordonez, Dustin Pedroia and Matt Capps, who wins?

  16. Evan says:

Bad walk, A.J. Escape from this.

  17. whozat says:

Man…that was kind of totally a strike.

  18. AJ says:

    Nice gun!

  19. Jorge says NO!

    CWIDT?

  20. Mike Axisa says:

    Another great through my Molina.

  21. gxpanos says:

    PO!

  22. Evan says:

    Respect the gun, Marlins.

  23. Accent Shallow says:

    GTFO Good Face.

That’s the universe righting itself — he shouldn’t have been on base to begin with.

  24. pc69 says:

1 freakin hit by a pitcher who never hits. Bronx Bombers are back.

  25. dkidd says:

    he’s a good baserunner………………………………………………………FOR ME POOP ON!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. BigBlueAL says:

    Posada brought the chooch tonight.

  27. whozat says:

Jorge is such an awful catcher. I wish Cervelli was in there today.

  28. The Fallen Phoenix says:

    Hava Molina!

  29. John says:

BULLSHIT BALL 3 WAS ALMOST RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE!!!

  30. Dela G says:

    WOOOOOOO

    WHAT A THROW OUT!

  31. Tank the Frank says:

Remember when we were a good defensive team???

  32. Accent Shallow says:

    Oh, Johnny . . .

  33. Are you fucking kidding me, Johnny?

  34. Dela G says:

    damnit johnny damon

  35. dkidd says:

    that hurts

  36. Dave says:

    Ah fuck

  37. Evan says:

Oh wow, how did he miss that?

  38. AJ says:

We are so signing Matt Holliday next year..

    • Mike Axisa says:

Oh please, he’s a total fraud. Padded his numbers in Coors, didn’t start hitting in the AL until his team was out of it.

    • whozat says:

Well, that would be an enormous overreaction. Signing Holliday to a like…6 year deal…because of Damon’s DEFENSE??

Also…that was an error and a half.

    • Accent Shallow says:

They do need a corner OF bat, but I’m not sure another long contract to the likes of Holliday is the best course of action.

  39. whozat says:

Well, that sucks enormous donkey balls.

    Seriously.

    Wow. Horrendous.

  40. BigBlueAL says:

Damon is good for 1 one of those every couple of weeks. Unfortunately this one probably sealed the game for the Marlins.

  41. John says:

I blame the ump on that run!

  42. gxpanos says:

Not a whole lot of defense by the Yanks tonight.

  43. John says:

    not an error?

  44. Bobby says:

AJ just flat out ain’t getting the job done. The job of the starting pitcher is to win ballgames, no excuses. Game’s over now, AJ has lost it.

  45. AJ says:

    That’s on Luis Castillo’s level..

  46. Mike Axisa says:

Just make sure you make up for it at the plate, Johnny. Problem is, I don’t think an All-Star team is hitting Johnson tonight.

  47. Dela G says:

like i said, we need jesus

  48. Tank the Frank says:

    AJ isn’t happy.

  49. dkidd says:

come on aj. we can still win this!

  50. Ivan says:

Man 2 runs feel like 10 right now with the Johnson is pitching.

  51. AsianShuutoHeat says:

    Calling Offense, first name Yankees.
Please come to the front desk, the team needs you.

Yes, solid defense and good pitching wins you games… but you do need to score at least a few runs to win…

  52. John says:

    Seriously no error???

    • whozat says:

      Yeah, talk about home cooking.

“Yeeeahhh…that ball was catchable…and he got the glove on it…buuuuuut I’m pretty sure that’s a hit.”

      • Jose says:

That dropped pop up to Luis Castillo in the Yanks-Mets series should’ve been ruled a hit.

  53. Dela G says:

good job getting out of that inning

  54. gxpanos says:

I feel like the Yanks can scrape a few across in the next couple innings. Johnson is ridiculous, but he only really throws the two pitches (I think I’ve seen one change the whole game). They HAVE to be able to figure out how to get a few hits, right?

    Please?

  55. 2 runs on Johnson tonight is like 5 on anyone else. Regardless, the Yankees can make up those runs. As always, confidence level = 10.

  56. Bob Stone says:

They called it a double – not an error – what a joke

  57. Accent Shallow says:

Wonder if that long-ish inning was enough to throw JJ off his rhythm.

  58. John says:

AJ hasnt K’ed anyone since 2 outs in the 4th!!!

  59. I know Johnson’s pitching well, but you can’t chase that pitch when you’re up 1-0.

  60. Bob Stone says:

Damon didn’t exactly redeem himself in that at bat

  61. AJ says:

When is the time that the yankees give up on Damon in 2010?…Today 8:59 pm..

  62. yankees=warriors says:

I feel bad for AJ. He had to do everything himself today.
If not for HIS hit, we’d be looking at a no-hitter.

  63. gxpanos says:

Hey, you guys hear? Josh Johnson had TJ!

The surgery! I hope Kay reminds me of the surgery next inning, too.

  64. John says:

    bad Johnny

  65. Mike, there’s your baserunner to has!

  66. Accent Shallow says:

The Yankees have brought the tying run to the plate.

I would have bet against it.

  67. whozat says:

    Come on, Jorge…JUICE one!

  68. dkidd says:

    yes tex! we’re winning this

  69. John says:

    Jorge DP…i hope not

  70. Mike Axisa says:

Lucked out there, make them pay.

  71. whozat says:

    ::bronx cheer::

  72. Accent Shallow says:

Who would have bet that that wouldn’t have ended the inning?

  73. Evan says:

The Yankees got away with that groundball.

  74. Bob Stone says:

Hah – Posada beats out a double play – that’s rare

  75. dkidd says:

    uggla is bad at fielding

  76. John says:

    whew

  77. Bob Stone says:

Scorer finally got his sanity back – E7 on Damon

  78. Mike Axisa says:

Not the prettiest rally, but I’ll take it.

  79. yankees=warriors says:

    Yeah, Cano!

  80. whozat says:

Is this “Land Shark Stadium” thing a joke? What is that?

    Come ON SWISH!!!!

  81. Dan Uggla is not very graceful, is he?

    • Jose says:

Never forget his 3 strikeouts, 3 errors, and ground into a double play in a single game.

  82. Dela G says:

did posada even touch 1st base?

  83. Bob Stone says:

JJ is up to 95 pitches – maybe we can get him out of there

  84. Nick…what the fuck?

  85. Tank the Frank says:

Holy shit Swisher… you have no chance in this AB.

  86. John says:

cmon Swishy!!!! Puh-lease! pretend this is April again!

  87. Evan says:

Jeez, Swish is chasing some less than ideal pitches of late.

  88. Mike Axisa says:

Ooo, ump was ready to call the second pitch to Swish a strike. He had his hands pumped.

  89. Dammmit, that was it.

  90. Really, Kay? Cheering for the Yankees or the Marlins? I thought there’d be some people cheering for the Mariners in there.

  91. whozat says:

This is a great ballgame, huh?

That play by Johnny is really the only blemish.

  92. Jake says:

    teh swisha!!

  93. Mike Axisa says:

    There you go Swish.

  94. dkidd says:

    swish!!!

  95. Accent Shallow says:

    Not bad, not bad.

I was guessing walk, groundout to 2B, HR. Surprised to see a solid single.

  96. whozat says:

    That just happened.

Angel Berroa 3-Run jimmy jack? Stranger things…

  97. Bob Stone says:

    Yeah Swisher!!

  98. John says:

damons play looms large…cmon Melky, deliver!!!!!!!!!!

  99. Evan says:

Swish! It’s a good thing he got another hanging slider.

  100. Accent Shallow says:

At this point, I’m not sure if I want to see them keep Johnson in there, or bring in the ‘pen. I realize they’re going to try to nurse him through the bottom of the Yanks’ order.

  101. Jake H says:

    2 out rbi’s are huge.

  102. Dammit, right down the middle. Too late on it, Melk.

  103. Blew Cabrera away on that one.

  104. Mike Axisa says:

Bad Melky rears his ugly head again. That one was at his eyes.

  105. yankees=warriors says:

Well, Damon had better jack one later.
    He owes AJ that much!

  106. Dela G says:

    LETS GO YANKEES!

  107. whozat says:

    eeeeh, crap.

    It’s 8-9-1 now, right?

  108. Is anyone else annoyed by the title of the new Ice Age movie? Didn’t the Ice Age come after dinosaurs?

  109. gxpanos says:

Any chance we see A-Rod for Berroa next inning?

  110. It’s all your fault, Dan.

  111. Jose says:

Let’s taunt the Marlins. They may become so cross that they will make a mistake.

  112. Mike Axisa says:

    PastadivingTex.

  113. zs190 says:

Berroa and pitcher up next inning, how do you handle the PH? Matsui for Berroa, Pena to pinch run if he gets on, then pinch hit ARod for the pitcher?

  114. yankees=warriors says:

I can’t believe this, didn’t AJ show he was tiring the last inning?

  115. Evan says:

Is it me or did De Aza slow prematurely?

    • whozat says:

It looked to me like he was trying to pull the bat back and kinda got surprised it hit his bat anyway.

  116. John says:

I think AJ could have gone longer. Poor AJ, once again another Criminally Unsupported start!

  117. Mike Axisa says:

That was kind of a hanger by Coke for strike three.

  118. Were they just playing the Ghostbusters music?!

  119. Accent Shallow says:

So Hughes and Wang are no longer joined at the hip?

  120. The Artist says:

    Hughes warming in the pen!

  121. dkidd says:

amazing. larussa letting coke stay in.

  122. Mike Axisa says:

    Heh, O’Neill called him Schmoltz.

  123. The Artist says:

    A-Rod with a bat!

    He’s gonna bitch tit!!!!

  124. Dela G says:

    damnit, the red sox win

    • whozat says:

Eh, they’re gonna do that a lot. Yanks can only control what they themselves do. If they stop giving away games like they did on Thursday, they’ll be ok.

  125. whozat says:

Ok, Nunez is a three-true-outcomes guy…lets wait him out, take some walks and let Johnny crank a “redeemer”

  126. yankees=warriors says:

They’re really using Hughes like a reliever now, huh?
Don’t know how to feel about that…

    • Accent Shallow says:

I’m definitely not crazy about it. He’s been effective as hell, but if we’re going to see him as a reliever, I’d rather not see him in 1 inning stinats.

  127. John says:

    Nice Cokey..cmon Offense

  128. Mike Axisa says:

I really really really hope Matsui doesn’t end up in the outfield.

  129. John says:

    cmon Hideki, let’s Hit-the-deck-i

  130. whozat says:

    Nice.

  131. Mike Axisa says:

Perfect. Matsui works a 2-0 count, then jumps all over the heater.

  132. gxpanos says:

Nice, Godzilla! Queue up some porno in the clubhouse to celebrate

  133. Evan says:

There’s one succesful pinch hit. Let’s see another.

  134. Mike Axisa says:

A-Rod gets more cheers in Florida than he does in the Bronx.

  135. A-Rod! (clapclap) A-Rod! (clapclap)

  136. The Artist says:

    A BITCH TIT!!!!!

  137. dkidd says:

how awesome would it be if he bunted?

  138. Accent Shallow says:

    Odds A-Rod sacrifices Gardner over?

  139. JobaWockeeZ says:

The friggin fans in Forida cheer more for A-Rod than we do! Granted when it isn’t a game winning HR of course.

  140. whozat says:

Yeah, that was a real nice move for a righty.

  141. Mike Axisa says:

Why not PR Pena? You need him to play third, PRing Gardner just burns a bench player.

  142. whozat says:

    Yeah, GREAT job by uggla.

  143. The Artist says:

    Yes!!!

Grit Gutner with the stolen base!!!

  144. Tank the Frank says:

    This is exciting stuff.

  145. J says:

just move him over the third ARod…

  146. dkidd says:

    get him over, alex

  147. V says:

    Nice pinch hit!

  148. J says:

    Odds Jeter GIDP?

  149. Mike Axisa says:

What a bum! Taking a walk in that spot? The nerve…

  150. Jefree says:

    How unclutch was that walk?

  151. Bobby says:

A-Rod just set up the DP! We aren’t paying him to walk!

  152. dkidd says:

    pinch run pena for alex?

  153. gxpanos says:

OH MY GOD A-ROD DID THAT BECAUSE HE WAS SCARED. HE’S SO HAPPY TO GET THAT WALK.

  154. Evan says:

    Damn selfish walk.

    /sarcasm

    • Accent Shallow says:

I know you guys are kidding, but the only remotely hittable pitches he got were the strike, and maybe ball four. That said, neither one was really a hitter’s pitch.

  155. Accent Shallow says:

    Double steal here?

  156. John says:

He has had a lot of walks in big moments this year, it seems.

  157. gxpanos says:

I bet Jeter bunts here, stupidly. He loves that crap.

  158. If Jeter bunts I’ll MURDER.

    • zs190 says:

I don’t know, I feel mixed here. Jete’s has that bum ankle right now, would be prone to a GIDP.

  159. zs190 says:

This is going to sound wrong, but should we bunt Jeter here?

  160. J says:

    jeter should push bunt…

  161. V says:

    Double steal?

  162. John says:

    cmon captain…PLEASE dont GIDP..get a hit!

  163. J says:

michael kay talks about that 1st out and 3rd out at third ALL the freaking time. shut up already penguin.

  164. V says:

    Like clockwork.

  165. Diony says:

88.8% chance Gardner wont score, unless he steals all the way home.

    • whozat says:

      Terrible job, Jeter. Just awful.

And yet, I’m sure that somewhere someone is complaining about ARod walking. Saying that he needed to ground out to the right side, so that Saint Jeter’s grounder would have been a clutch RBI groundout instead of a GIDP.

      • JobaWockeeZ says:

A-Rod just isn’t gritty. Look at the Red Sox. They sacrifice their stats all the time! If there’s a guy on second, they make sure to get a ground out so they can go to third! They are so gritty and that team will win championships. The Yankees will never be gritty since they only play for the money.

  166. Accent Shallow says:

    Argh!

  167. dkidd says:

    shocker

  168. Evan says:

    *bangs head*

  169. Ivan says:

    Dammit DJ.

  170. JobaWockeeZ says:

Better make up the run you gave Damon.

  171. Yankees_Universe says:

    bullshit…

  172. Yankees_Universe says:

    bullshit…

  173. zs190 says:

    Sigh…

  174. V says:

AJ Burnett had better ABs in this game than Jeter. Wow.

  175. Blackdragon905 says:

    saw that coming…ugh

  176. JackC says:

That was decidedly less than ideal

  177. Jefree says:

    squeeze

  178. Dela G says:

    hahaha who called it…

    i did

  179. John says:

WOW I bet the blame for that Double Play goes on A-rod

  180. JobaWockeeZ says:

And yeah I’d take the “extremely idiotic” bunt over the DP anytime.

  181. Dave says:

But Jeter leads Majors in Interleague Batting average!

  182. cjc says:

    brutal

  183. gxpanos says:

I hate the bunt. HATE it.

But Jeter should pretty much just bunt every time he’s up with a man on first and less than 2.

    • Accent Shallow says:

No. He GIDPs quite a bit, but he’s a great hitter. I’d agree with you occasionally in situations like that.

  184. Bobby says:

That is all on A-Rod. If he had gotten a double instead of a walk, that would have scored a run. Bench A-Rod tomorrow as punishment.

  185. dkidd says:

    redemption time for damon

  186. The Artist says:

    Couldn’t see that one coming.

Now we all know why Uggla was playing so close to 2B.

  187. Pasqua says:

It’s like that adage about not being able to hide a defensive liability because the ball will inevitably find him.

Even with Jeter in the leadoff spot, the GIDP’s keep coming.

    Grrrr..

  188. John says:

That decision to bat him leadoff is looking better and better everyday

  189. Accent Shallow says:

    What can you do?

Jeter’s a great hitter, but he’s got extreme groundball tendencies. So it goes. He tried to bunt, couldn’t get it down.

  190. Yankees_Universe says:

what is worse Kay, Jeter keep hitting into DP or Gardner with 50% chance of making it to third while stealing?

  191. I’d be happy a walk here.

  192. whozat says:

Don’t turn the channel until that last page?

    Seriously, Kay?

  193. cjc says:

    fuck balls

  194. Accent Shallow says:

    WTF was that, Johnny?

  195. JobaWockeeZ says:

    Way to go Damon.

  196. Well that inning sucked.

  197. John says:

    bad game for JOhhny

  198. J says:

how many games have the yankees lost this year because of situations like this? this team can be so clutch one day and so unclutch the other. nature of baseball i suppose.

  199. Conor says:

Johnny’s been great for us, but he receives the Goat label for the evening.

  200. dkidd says:

    i still think we’re winning

  201. Yankees_Universe says:

Can M.Kay just stop with this bs about how many are sitting and how many are standing in the stands? we don’t care…

  202. Tank the Frank says:

Such a tremendous fail by the top of our lineup. That’s how you lose games. Well, that and committing two errors.
