  1. Dela G says:

DAMN IT YANKEES! LETS STEP THIS SHEET UP!

  2. whozat says:

Well…Tex, Jorge and Cano will just need to fix it in the ninth.

  3. gxpanos says:

At least there’s Teix in the 9th. That’s promising.

    This aint over.

  4. cjc says:

that inning made baby seals cry

  5. dkidd says:

game tying home run by tex

    • whozat says:

Matt Lindstrom kind of sucks. He has no idea where the ball is going. Tex and Posada should be able to work him over…if they make him come to them.

  6. Tank the Frank says:

Hellz ja I blame A-Rod and I’s hella cool. I’m so cool, I’m Kool like the smokes.

  7. John says:

What’s sad is that most of us EXPECTED the DP from Jeter.

  8. J says:

    Phil Hughes teh bust~!!!!

damn, he’s definitely been putting up numbers as a reliever.

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

It’s funny, a lot of Yankee fans want CMW done with the rotation and would rather have Phil Hughes in. And I bet those same people were pissed off we didn’t trade him for teh Johan and had a bad start to the 2008 season.

  9. pc69 says:

All Star break is the best thing that can happen to the Yankees right now. They literally suck with RISP and are being dominated by average to slightly average pitching.

Had that inning set up and blew it. Well, win one tomorrow so you can leave with your heads slightly higher than when you came in.

    • Bob Stone says:

      JJ isn’t an average pitcher

      • whozat says:

Seriously…the guy has filthy stuff and doesn’t walk guys.

Last inning…that pissed me off. What a terrible AB by Jeter.

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

Uhh Josh Johnson is a pretty damn good pitcher.

    • V says:

Wow. Proof that you’re an utter idiot.

      • Tank the Frank says:

I knew it when I saw he had 69 in his name.

      • pc69 says:

Yes dickhead, I specifically mentioned Johnson. So glad that you and Tank the Skank can read. Please tell me who they have faced starting with the Mets that has been a great pitcher – Santana, Johnson – are the only two. Wait let me guess you will bring up Lannan…. Ewwww that is a good one.

So yes, I am an idiot and you are the next GM of the Yankees, congrats.

  10. Lanny says:

The late game DP’s are becoming a habit.

  11. Accent Shallow says:

Not crazy about Hughes as a 1 inning reliever. Think he gets the 9th if the Yankees explode next inning?

  12. Evan says:

Wow, pitchers throw harder when they’re in the ‘pen than in the rotation? Brilliant analysis!

  13. John says:

    NO matter what happens tonight…

    Confidence Level = 11

  14. J says:

damn phils cutter is moving all over the place

  15. Accent Shallow says:

Things I like about Phil Hughes, number 43:

The late swinging strikes on sub-90 mph cutters.

  16. dkidd says:

hughes with a cutter = unfair

  17. RollingWave says:

    Teh 8th inning guy!!!!

  18. The Artist says:

    ATROCIOUS!!!

PHIL HUGHES IS A STARTING PITCHAH!!!

  19. gxpanos says:

Ha. Someone sponsors Pat Listach’s B-R.

  20. Dela G says:

there is no way that all of these pitches are in teh 80s like YES says

  21. BigBlueAL says:

I didnt notice, did Hughes move into Damon’s spot in the lineup and Gardner stayed in the game or not????

  22. yankees=warriors says:

Man, if only Tex was good at running too!

  23. Accent Shallow says:

    Tex/Posada/Cano isn’t bad to start the 9th.

Now, clearly you can’t send Tex, so you PR Pena? Or just hope Jorge doesn’t hit a ground ball?

  24. Lanny says:

This team has to remember how to score without hitting home runs.

  25. V says:

    That’s good defense.

  26. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

    tex

  27. yankees=warriors says:

And now we have the DP prince (Jeter’s the king)…

  28. John says:

    Ok JoPo, no DP please!!!

  29. Accent Shallow says:

Alright, Robbie . . . just don’t GIDP again, please.

  30. John says:

    Ok, now Robbie, NO DP!!!

  31. V says:

    Wow. Robbie. Robbie. Robbie.

  32. gxpanos says:

    Wow.

  33. JobaWockeeZ says:

    How fucking fitting.

  34. Bob Stone says:

Good game to watch – Bad outcome

  35. Tank the Frank says:

Couldn’t have ended any more appropriately. Robbie swings at the 1st pitch and its a DP.

  36. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

    dammittttttttttttttttttttttttttt tough loss for burnett.

  37. dkidd says:

    fucking cano drives me crazy

  38. cjc says:

great just fucking great robbie another clutch hit from mister stat pad

  39. Eric says:

    double play machine

  40. V says:

    Pre-emptive STFU to Lanny.

  41. John says:

6th FUCKIN time he’s put the 1st FUCKIN pitch into play in the last 3 games!

  42. Lanny says:

And Cano with his patented 9th inn DP.

This team has serious problems scoring without the long ball. Championship teams know how to score without that.

    • whozat says:

You mean like…4/5 runs they scored yesterday? The run the scored today?

Is Jeter one of these “guys who doesn’t know how to score without homers”? Because he’s a championship winner, and HE is the one that couldn’t come through with the game on the line.

    • Pasqua says:

I’m no statistician, but I think the Yankees have scored a few without the homerun this year.

      • Lanny says:

If you don’t think this team is long ball happy you aren’t watching.

Or did those 2 losses to the Nats not wake you up?

You do know when you face good pitching you don’t hit 4 homers. And some games you need to scratch out runs and get runners over and this team is having some problems.

But keep the head in the sand if it meets you feel better losing.

        • V says:

Get some fucking numbers to back you up, troll.

          Because they don’t.

        • Pasqua says:

C’mon, man. You can’t really defend the “Yanks only hit homeruns” thesis, can you?

First, let’s stop acting like homeruns are “bad.” They’re the most efficient way to score runs…the runs add up fairly quickly when you hit it over the fence. So, the fact that they hit a lot of homeruns pleases me. But the notion that this team can do nothing else is preposterous.

I’m pissed off at a loss like this, too. But point the finger at not executing at the right moment. Arguing that this team has too much power is like complaining that your car’s gas mileage is too good.

    • Jack says:

That was Cano’s 10th career 9th inning GIDP. I wouldn’t call that patented.

  43. Blackdragon905 says:

horrible loss, no other way around it.

  44. Dela G says:

    well yankees lose

  45. yankees=warriors says:

Is there a cure to DPs?

  46. JobaWockeeZ says:

Man dammit Cano and damn you Damon for giving them that run.

  47. I’m getting really tired of Cano swinging at the first pitch.

  48. Pasqua says:

Ken Singleton is a fucking prophet now?

  49. Jake H says:

Terrible baseball those last 2 innings. Jeter hsa to get that bunt down or get a ball in the air. Cano 2 games out of 3 to end a game on a dp.

    • J says:

2 innings? the yankees have been playing this kind of frustrating, mediocre baseball for a few weeks. i have to say though, we have been playing .500 ball and that’s all we need to do before we go on a good run again.

  50. BigBlueAL says:

Yankees lead the league in pathetic losses. Not pathetic that they couldnt hit JJ, but that 2nd run they gave up was unearned because Damon missed a routine flyball and the last 2 innings was typical of this offense the past 2 weeks.

    • John says:

Yea, it does seem we find many ways to lose games

    • Pasqua says:

But for every pathetic loss I’ll raise you a ridiculously awesome win. This year is a helluva lot more interesting than last.

    • Riddering says:

I was going to say that, considering where we are in the standings, I highly doubt we lead any league or division in pathetic losses but then I realized it’s a subjective stat and cannot be quantified with numbers.

      You win this time!

      • BigBlueAL says:

Ha. Yeah it just seems this season we never just lose, we lose games like tonight or games where we inexplicably get shut down by a shitty starter.

Its easier to just get whooped once in awhile and just chalk it up to a bad game which happens, but these type of games all season long have been tough to take.

  51. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

Jeter in the 8th had to move those runners to 2 and third im getting preety tired of jeter doin dat the last couple of years.

    • John says:

well, he does drive in a lot but he does GIDP a lot too…take the good with the bad.

    • mick says:

He’s still a really good hitter, but his bat has apparently slowed somewhat…I still would want him over any other shortstop in the league!

      • yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

i would to but the problem is that he has to move the runners over for damon u only would of need a sac fly to score the run.

  52. BigBlueAL says:

Man I know people say anyone can close, but look at Ryan Madsden since he took over for Lidge. He had close to 20 scoreless innings in a row, now he has blown 2 saves and lost another game when he entered in a tie game in the 9th.

  53. Jake H says:

Damon hasn’t been playing very well in the field or at the plate.

  54. John says:

Silver Lining: Posada is not the reason for our pitching troubles!

    • Quikksand says:

another silver lining – tomorrow is a new day

      • Andrew says:

getting tired of hearing that. Were you here on the last day of the season last year to apologize for all your “guys there’s still tomorrow, it’s only one game of 162, so really, it’s meaningless” comments?

  55. bonestock94 says:

    Death by double play.

  56. Quikksand says:

Why is this team so extremely inept?

  57. Tank the Frank says:

I’m going to start keeping better track of it, as in writing it down, but it really doesn’t seem like this Yankees team (or last year’s) can move runners over well at all or get a run in from 3rd with less than 2 outs.

This team must improve it’s situational hitting. I think it’s been a problem for some time now.

    • Andrew says:

“WRONG!! The Yankees only hit .263 in RISP, a .300 AVG with RISP is only 4 more hits every 100 at bats, so therefore, they’re doing just fine hitting with RISP!!”

      /mikeaxisa

    • Tank the Frank says:

Is it just me or does NOTHING in my post mention anything about RISP?

I question their ability to move runners… situational hitting. Getting a runner in from 3rd does not seem to be this team’s forte.

  58. Accent Shallow says:

Another groundballer in Chris Volstad tomorrow. Ugh.

  59. baseball says:

Time for cashman to make a deal for a bat. Damon, Melky, Swisher is an atrocious outfield.

  60. Mike Axisa says:

Meanwhile, the Nats just won their fourth straight game.

  61. Vghncdvg says:

Is it true Walman and Sterling are signed through 2011. God help us.

  62. baseball says:

To JACK: You need to chill out and stop being so defensive. We get it you’re DA BEST FAN IN DA WOOOOORLD!!! YOU DON’T BOO PLAYERS!! YOU LIKE TO TREAT THEM LIKE THEY’RE YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS! Guess what? Jeter won’t care if you died tomorrow! HAHAHA!!!

  63. baseball says:

guys, i didn’t really mean anything i said above. i just like to come here after a loss and work you guys up. i’m sorry…

  64. Bobby says:

Here’s where the blame lies for tonight’s devastating loss-

AJ Burnett- Didn’t get the job done, period. The starting pitcher is supposed to win ballgames. If the opposing pitcher is throwing up zeros, you match him.

Alex Rodriguez- Another walk late in the ballgame with a man on base? A double gets us out of the DP situation. You can’t blame Jeter for A-Rod’s inability to swing the bat.

Jorge Posada- Cervelli won, Posada lost. Comparing CERA last night and tonight, Cervelli > Posada.

    Not at fault-

    Joe Girardi- Managerial mastermind.

Derek Jeter- El capitan was out there tonight busting his hump, unlike some overpaid superstar.

Johnny Damon- The gritty, gutty, grinder gave it his all.

  65. josh says:

i am guilty of blaming girardi for losses that probably are not his fault but doesnt it seem like he is not aggresive enough at times. i really cant see a good reason not to send the runners in the 8th. with arod on first in the 2nd game of the nats series he didnt send him either. bummer, that looked like a game the yanks definitely should have won in the 8th.

  66. josh says:

gotta hope arod comes back and carries this offense for a while. they need it.
