  1. JobaWockeeZ says:

Why did Girardi get ejected? I missed it =/

  2. The Artist says:

Joba grew up wanting to be Chipper Jones?

I thought he wanted to be Mike Franscesa.

  3. Jersey says:

Now we just need Joba, Bruney and Mo to hold it down and thanks for comin’ out.

  4. Drew says:

    Damnit chip

  5. Drew says:

God I hate the NL. Friggin BP phone already…

  6. handtius says:

    Joba can have my man-child.

  7. Zach says:

I thought you cant get swing and misses without a 96mph fastball

  8. Dela G says:

Joba is so filthy the trashman needs to come clean up those braves hitters after the breaking ball

  9. Mike Axisa says:

Nice little outing by the fat kid from Nebraska.

  10. IvanS says:

Worst part of that inning was definitely the call at first. However, if Gardner’s still on base (assuming that Cervelli doesn’t HR) when Joba’s spot comes up, they may have Ph’d for him. It’s the best for him to still be in the game.

  11. So if the Yanks go 1-2-3, you send Joba out for the 7th, no?

  12. Moshe Mandel says:

Who is going to make the call on whether Joba gets another inning? I would assume Girardi. If they pull him, I would not be happy, unless his spot comes up with a shot to put the game away (bases loaded, no one out).

  13. Drew says:

I want Jober out for more. Let him cleanup this inning.

  14. Jamal G. says:

The Yanks are batting .667 with a HR and 3 RBI after the Girardi ejection. Clearly, Bobby Cox has been on to something all this time.

  15. Dorian says:

The best ERA in the starting rotation belongs to?

  16. donttradecano says:

    Ivan, Tommie-

what do you guys think of all the speculation today, especially the drafting jordan hill then signing and trading lee for rubio?

  17. JobaWockeeZ says:

    SWISH!!

  18. He’s so not an everyday player.

  19. ARX says:

    Swisher you stat padder.

  20. Zach says:

genius move by Girardi for putting swish back in line up

  21. Nick Swisher: Your darkhorse AL All-Star candidate.

  22. IvanS says:

    Have they broken out finally?

  23. Drew says:

    /fistpump

  24. The Fallen Phoenix says:

This team looks listless. Too many home runs, not enough grit.

  25. Zach says:

    sick play

  26. Greg says:

SWISHER!!!!!!! JOE GIRARDI IS A GENIUS!

  27. Arman Tamzarian says:

Don’t know if this was already noted, but apparently Tim Battle has been released

  28. Jamal G. says:

The Yanks are now batting .625 with two HR and four RBI after the Girardi ejection.

  29. I’ve been very impressed by Escobar’s defense these two games.

  30. charlespoet says:

Apparently the formula is Girardi ejected and Cervelli HR and just like that, the perfect elixir.

  31. Dorian says:

HELL YEA SWISH… HOW BOUT DAT ABRAHAM?

  32. Jersey says:

With a 3-run lead, I definitely think you leave Joba out there to start the 7th, right?

    • whozat says:

      And, hopefully, finish it :-)

It’s the bottom of the order, I’d hope Girardi won’t get all cute with mix-n-match unless Joba starts running up his pitch count. I figure he has 20, 25 pitches left, MAX. Or one inning, whichever happens first.

  33. handtius says:

    hmmmm….swish.

  34. Drew says:

    Yayy, here comes jober

  35. BigBlueAL says:

Its obvious why they have exploded now. Once Girardi got thrown out, they were thrilled he wasnt the manager anymore. Zing!!!!

  36. Greg says:

If Cervelli doesn’t reach, just let Joba hit.

  37. Dela G says:

man it feels great to have offense once again

    JOBA COMING BACK!

    yes!

  38. Drew says:

Fuck bunting, he ripped one and had the right approach the next AB.

  39. Jamal G. says:

Heh, didn’t one commenter dub Jeff Bennett the “human gas can” on that blog RAB had the series Q & A with?

  40. handtius says:

Joba needs to hit a homerun…I would laugh his whole trip around the bases…I bet he runs them like the Babe (I know I mentioned it before, but I really want to see it).

  41. Zach says:

    nice swings jeter

  42. Jamal G. says:

Jeter got pwnt in that AB.

  43. Tank the Frank says:

Set em up and sit em down Joba.

  44. Jersey says:

    DFA that shortstop.

    I kid!

  45. Dela G says:

    damn it jeter

  46. Zach says:

I wonder if Francesa is watching Arroyo in Toronto

  47. Dorian says:

What a job by Bronson Arroyo huh?

  48. LiveFromNewYork says:

Fatcessa must be having a fit that Joba is doing well. I hate that guy so much. Between the crap he throws about Girardi and the incessant Joba to the pen crap how does he have a job? I know 10 year olds who could do better commentary.

    • Zach says:

he’ll make up and talk crap about Joba until the day he retires.
Joba’s an embarassment, belongs in minors as a starter, 4 inning pitcher, not electrifying enough, needs to grow up, better as 8th inning, Greinke has a much better K:BB then him, etc

      • Yankees_Universe says:

Also, now he thinks 6IP, 3ER is not a quality start, It should be 6 IP , 2ER…why? because he thinks that is more appropriate..

        • Zach says:

6IP 2ER is a 3.00 ERA. If a pitcher goes out and throws 30 starts to a 3.00 i dont think “quality” is the correct adjective

  49. LiveFromNewYork says:

Phil studding it out in the pen.

  50. Dela G says:

arroyo has been money at times

i watched him destroy the astros earlier this year on tv

  51. YankeeScribe says:

    Francisco Cervelli is the answer

  52. The Artist says:

    .283 OBP for Jeff Francour

  53. Drew says:

Jober <3′s his fastball and I do too.

  54. 96 in the 7th.

And again, much much much love for Kelly Johnson’s walk up music.

  55. Joebrah says:

just seems strange that they let joba go out to hit, isn’t it?

i mean, i’m all for him continuing to pitch, but they’ve got their little pitch count meter on him. he’s going to be yanked very very soon.

why not have matsui come up?

3 run lead has historically not been enough for this bullpen.

    • Jersey says:

I agree with letting him hit there. He’s been cruising and only at ~80 pitches at the time I believe.

      • Joebrah says:

i would agree with this if the organization didn’t have their stupid little pitch max on him.

he was 14 pitches away from it when he got up to the plate.

  56. Professor Oak says:

THERES THE HEAT: 96 MPH FASTBALL TO FRANCOEUR

  57. Dela G says:

joba needs to stop throwing opposite of what the catcher wants

    its quite annoying

    • Drew says:

I disagree. The catchers need to learn the pitcher not the other way around. The pitcher needs to throw what he wants when he wants, it’s his name that goes next to the decision.

  58. The Artist says:

95 pitches, last batter for Joba.

  59. Andrew says:

    come on joba!

  60. e mills says:

Cashman is in town to tell Joba to shave that beard

  61. Andrew says:

    damnit!

  62. Greg says:

Gotta yank him now. 1-2 count and he leaves it up there.

  63. Dela G says:

damn it, i thought he would get a double play ball

    let him finish this inning

  64. Drew says:

Oh pooter, Get out of it Jober! Just say no to Coke!

  65. I support the decision to let Joba hit and give him this inning.

If we pull him here, though, that’s totally fine, mmmmmkay, Tony Peña? kthxbai.

  66. BigBlueAL says:

Shouldnt have thrown another FB. Shouldve gone back to the slider.

  67. Dela G says:

well i guess they are taking him out, let him learn from his mistakes. But thats why i am watching on tv and not the manager

  68. uu says:

Can’t any of these starters nail it down in the later innings?

  69. Drew says:

Cokie isn’t in my good graces yet, I hope he gets this shit done though.

  70. Joba-to-the-pen says:

Another good job for Joba.Thats “Good Job” not great just good.Joba is not gonna get better he will be a good #2 pitcher.Like Mussina when he came to the Yankees.

  71. Zach says:

    damn that was close

  72. Dorian says:

    ATTA BOY SWISH

  73. Dela G says:

damn nick swisha with a grrrrreat play

  74. BigBlueAL says:

    Nothing ever comes easy anymore.

  75. Yankee1010 says:

I like Coke, but damn, does he give up some shots to lefties.

    • The Artist says:

I’d like to know why Bruney wasn’t brought in there instead of Coke. That’s the high leverage spot, I’d use my best setup guy right there. I guess we’ll find out next inning if he’s available.

  76. I thought Swisher couldn’t play defense.

  77. J says:

if swish misses that, the season is over

    • LiveFromNewYork says:

I thought the season was over yesterday. they’re just playing because they’re bound contractually.

    • ranger11 says:

How can the season be over when we’re in the lead for the wild card?

  78. RunnerS122 says:

Would it be too much to ask for a few more insurance runs?

  79. Professor Oak says:

Joba did well, his error hurt a little though

  80. Ivan says:

    I thought Swisher was a 4th outfielder.

    • Dela G says:

haha he’s a terrible avg hitter, but the guy slugs with the best of em. I love him being on this team. It makes me very happy to see him play every day. Much more fun than old ass abreu

  81. Andrew says:

that ball would’ve been gone at Yankee Stadium. Coke scares me a little.

  82. Drew says:

Mo money hasn’t pitched in a week. No worries though.

  83. LiveFromNewYork says:

Remember that game against Johan Santana? Was that 10 years ago or 20?

  84. Quikksand says:

    Thank the lord for Swisher.

  85. Jamal G. says:

Nice job, assholes (both Kotchman and O’Flaherty).

  86. Zach says:

the season’s over, why is Damon hustling?

  87. Mark Teixeira >>>>>>>>>>> Casey Kotchman

  88. Tex, make them pay for that mistake.

  89. Brian says:

I have always thought it is weird when you don’t get an earned run due to an error that you (the pitcher) made.

  90. Quikksand says:

Base hit for Teix. LET’S GO YANKEES!

  91. Greg says:

Well, what do you know. Those hits are finally finding the holes. They didn’t just magically learn how to hit, it’s variance. The turnaround might be tonight’s game.

  92. Quikksand says:

    wild pitch, runners move up!

  93. IvanS says:

Two hits and 4 RBIs would go a long way to getting this guy’s head straight.

  94. Mike Axisa says:

But I thought teams weren’t afraid of Pay-rod?

  95. Drew says:

Haha, Time for Robbie to work on that Bases Loaded avg.

  96. Quikksand says:

    IBB for A-rod

  97. Dela G says:

    that stupid play was hilarious

  98. Okay. You all know my optimism knows no bounds but if they don’t get a run here, I’ll be pretty ticked.

  99. Man, that pitcher looked really “relieved” to give that walk to ARod.

  100. Accent Shallow says:

What a change — they unintentionally intentionally walk Tex to get to A-Rod, now they’re intentionally walking A-Rod.

  101. The Artist says:

    Need some tack on runs here . . . . .

  102. J says:

    Robbie’s bound for a hit.

  103. RunnerS122 says:

loading the bases with no outs for the teams best hitter (aka highest BA)???

  104. Zach says:

    gritty play by cano!

  105. Greg says:

    Cano is clutch!

  106. The Artist says:

    TEX WITH THE HUSTLE!!!!

  107. Well…they got a run…

  108. Quikksand says:

    5-3 yankees!

  109. Andrew says:

Boy Cano’s situational hitting is brutal

  110. JobaWockeeZ says:

    Shut up Braves.

  111. Yankee1010 says:

Can Cano pretend like the bases aren’t loaded next time?

  112. Dela G says:

    WOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD JOB BIG TEX!

  113. Stupid Baseball Rule #4,080:

The base is inside the foul line but the basepath is outside the foul line.

  114. Accent Shallow says:

    Delayed: other

    What’s the deal?

  115. Andrew says:

    very lucky there

  116. Mike Axisa says:

    Tack on runs!!!

  117. Quikksand says:

    A-rod scores, 6-3 Yankees.

  118. Not perfect but a run’s a run. Way to go, Nick. I thought he couldn’t play situational baseball.

  119. J says:

    A gritty play by Robbie

and finally a hit and run… with 3rd and 1st. we’ve been really missing that while in this slump.

  120. tony from the bronx says:

Cano should not be hitting 5th Can he at lest hustle or is he that slow?

  121. LiveFromNewYork says:

Arod, third to home, third to home, Arod.

  122. handtius says:

Watching the ATL broadcast. and they are bitching about the call at first with Cano…saying it seems all calls are going against the Braves and that Cano was WAY inside the line, not just running on it.

  123. Moshe Mandel says:

Swisher having a good game, Joba pitched well, Arroyo got killed= rough night for Mike Dup.

    • The Fallen Phoenix says:

McClouth flashed some leather, though, and got robbed of a HR by Turner Field, so all is not lost.

    • BigBlueAL says:

Well McClouth does have a double and a nice play on defense.

  124. Gardner is so fast.

  125. Dela G says:

MAN IT FEELS GREAT TO WATCH THE YANKEES PLAY SOME SMALL BALL

  126. The Artist says:

    ????

The Cable guy with the red beard in the Verizon commercials is Gay?

  127. Drew says:

Pete Abe really needs to give up his comedy routine.
“I don’t know how swish caught that ball, he took more turns than Danica Patrick…”

  128. J says:

i love how gardner makes every routine play exciting.

  129. Drew says:

Amazing location by Bruney thru 3 pitches

  130. Moshe Mandel says:

Bruney gets diet tips from Edwar, apparently.

  131. Zach says:

So why isnt anyone calling for Mariano to be pitching now? facing batters 3-4-5, isnt this the most important part of the game?

  132. Andrew says:

    Come on Bruney!

  133. handtius says:

    Braves announcers still bitching.

“Cano was 10FEET OUT OF THE BASEPATHS! Horrible horrible call. Could have cost them the game.”

  134. Accent Shallow says:

There’s the Brian Bruney I remember — issuing walks after being ahead 0-2.

    Buckle down, plz.

  135. Mike Axisa says:

Bruney’s making it a bit too interesting for my liking.

  136. Tom Zig says:

Anyone notice that Bruney’s hat is really different?

  137. Drew says:

KS: Mariano is cheering on Bruney down in the pen.
    Mo: /Yawn

  138. Quikksand says:

    Struck him out!

  139. Mike Axisa says:

    Bruney’s mustache is marvelous.

  140. Tom Zig says:

Micheal Kay: Garret Anderson never seems excited

    code for:

he hates baseball more than Adam Dunn

  141. handtius says:

They need to shut up about this basepath crap…

“we should make sure to check with Cox after the game on hwat the umpire said”

  142. Quikksand says:

Let’s go bruney! Let’s get out of this inning without any damage!

  143. Drew says:

    Pete Abe:
“Yankees now lead 6-3. I predicted 5-2 back at 8:40. Gotta give me props.”
He must’ve mentioned that he thought the Yanks would win after Girardi was tossed about 4 time. Does he want an award or something?

  144. J says:

Nice changeup by Bruney… kotchman looked confused.

  145. e mills says:

    squeezed much?

  146. SouthernYankeeFan says:

    Is bruney getting squeezed?

  147. Evan says:

    And that wasn’t a strike because…?

  148. The Artist says:

You cannot walk a man there. Let him hit his way on, please.

  149. Ivan says:

    Come Bruney. Seriously.

  150. Mike Axisa says:

0-2 on Francoeur? Four straight off the plate.

  151. Dela G says:

my god this ump decides to decrease the strike zone?

    cmon, man

  152. The Fallen Phoenix says:

Tony Pena looks like an elf with those ears.

  153. Greg says:

    Bring in Mo NOW!

  154. Mike Axisa says:

    Okay, that’s it. Mo time.

  155. Dela G says:

    oh man cmon bruney

we need one more effing out

    one more out

  156. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

    aa damitt

  157. e mills says:

hope Bruney’s elbow doesn’t fall apart now

  158. Drew says:

    Mo plz.

  159. Okay now you can bring in Mo.

  160. Andrew says:

Boy this would suck if they lose this game.

  161. Accent Shallow says:

    2 hits to Francoeur?

Maybe the Yankees’ pitchers should have a closed-door meeting after the game.

    (I’m not mad. Yet.)

  162. Shoulda kept giving Francouer breaking balls. He’s the white Pedro Cerrano.

  163. J says:

How many games has Tony Pena won as the manager?
