handtius says:

So I hear this thread is the place to be…

. . for the next 4 outs, yes.

Dela G says:

Dela G says:

i bet the sandman has a 2 pitch inning

Dela G says:

well there goes that idea…

Reggie C. says:

and so i’ll join you too.

J says:

Perfect timing for a new thread.

handtius says:

Mo make my dreams come true.

Bruno says:

Hasn’t he already?

handtius says:

“Mo make my dreams come true.”….tonight.

Bruney looked the tiniest bit off.

Luis Polonia says:

Who’s excited to see Mo hit?

mo says:

when is the last time we saw that?

Luis Polonia says:

June 20, 2006. K-ed swinging in the top of the 9th at Philly. He got a 2-inning save that game.

Luis Polonia says:

Nevermind…damnit. National League baseball and the double switch. I was excited.

Accent Shallow says:

I’d rather see him play CF one of these days.

Zero chance of that happening, unfortunately.

Reggie C. says:

Not loving how Bruney lost that matchup against Francouer after being up 0-2. He’s got to get more work in. Period.

Accent Shallow says:

Yeah. It’s not like he’s the closer, so “he can only be used in save situations.” Sometimes you have to use him in the 6th or 7th inning, or to preserve a close deficit.

J says:

omg. that last cutter was disgusting.

Accent Shallow says:

Mariano Rivera? I remember this guy.

Dela G says:

how the hell was that 3rd pitch off the strike zone?

Zach says:

Yeah, that was a ball, not a strike.

Good call, blue.

Accent Shallow says:

Hey, if they want to give Mo the Tom Glavine Memorial Strikezone ™ since we’re in Atlanta, I won’t complain too much.

Accent Shallow says:

Dela G says:

J says:

those were some of the nastiest pitches i’ve seen from mo this year.

Is this the first time Mo has pitched in ATL since 1999?

Greg says:

Mo is pretty good. Pretty pretty good.

handtius says:

The seriously said “Slider!” as Mo’s last pitch of the inning. wow. Straight dumb-struck.

Greg says:

Mo is gonna have to bat!!!!!

Greg says:

I guess not. I forgot they took out Swish in the double switch.

No he’s not. Bruney was double switched in with Melky, the pitcher is batting in Swisher’s spot, Melky batting 9th.

Ever watch Mo during batting practice? I bet he could play CF.

Ron Guidry actually did play CF in a game around 1976 or something.

handtius says:

In the protested game, yeah.

Greg says:

LOL, I guess Mo will bat now with the bases loaded.

Make that one-time great Yankee prospect Manny Acosta, Mr. Kay.

Whew. Interesting game so far

Every time I hear the “I” of Matt Diaz’s name, I cringe.

Accent Shallow says:

“Yeah, you know how I have a common last name? I’m going to pronounce it slightly differently for no good reason.”

Greg says:

Cervelli is so gritty and passionate. His facial expressions alone make him better than Jorge Posada.

Accent Shallow says:

Hey, if Posada plays over Cervelli this game, he’s batting from the left against Medlen, so maybe he doesn’t jack one to left center.

Anderson is awful in left.

Accent Shallow says:

Wow, Garret Anderson plays LF with a walker. Love it.

handtius says:

Actually it’s a roto-scooter

handtius says:

Had a feeling Leche would get a hit. He don’t like riding the pine.

Melky’s flat-footed running is a joy to watch.

So is Anderson’s geriatric attempts at fielding.

Zach says:

NOW Jeter takes pitches?

Melky, are you fucking stupid?

I don’t have a problem with that play when you’re up by two in the ninth. Be aggressive, make them make the play.

Eh. But ensuring that you score that run would be important (didn’t end up mattering, though).

He was running on contact.

95% chance that order came from the dugout.

handtius says:

I think they were sending him on contact.

Jake H says:

Jeter needs to start hitting.

Well that was a silly move. The contact play doesn’t work if the IF is in.

Like I said above, I have no problems with it.

handtius says:

Andrew says:

tailor made GIDP ball by Jeter

Dela G says:

i know no one is watching the royals game, but kyle farnsworth’s knee may have just popped while fielding

Dela G says:

never mind, but its his groin. His groin may have given out

Shit, I’d rather have popped my knee. I don’t need a good knee to give the ladies the sweet, sweet pleasure.

handtius says:

Oh come, you don’t need to pretend, we all know you like the fellas. We don’t Judge here, Just AXL and he’s gone.

e mills says:

is that Posada in a Braves uni catching? ;)

Andrew says:

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

Evan says:

Apparently, my mother thought Jeter could have scored after McCann threw the ball away. Riiiight.

Damon makes that point moot.

Johnny Damon and Nick Swisher: Your darkhorse AL OF All-Star candidates.

Zach says:

Mark Teixeira: Your clear cut AL 1B All Star

Eh, I dunno about that. But that’s a different discussion.

Andrew says:

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

niceeeee base running

Open those floodgates, and don’t look back baby.

Dela G says:

THIS IS THE OFFENSE I KNOW AND EFFING LOVE!

YANKEES ON FIYA!!!

Greg says:

Good hitters always turn it around. Balls aren’t getting hit right at people anymore. Variance happens in baseball. It’s not Girardi’s fire or Cervelli’s energy.

Good hitters always turn it around. Balls aren’t getting hit right at people anymore. Variance happens in baseball. It’s not Girardi’s fire or Cervelli’s energy.

I have nothing to add, I just wanted to repeat that louder to make sure everyone heard it.

Dela G says:

you are totally correct sir

blue star for you

A.D. says:

But cervelli’s energy!!!!!

In all serious right on, they will put it back together and go on a tear

And now, Mo still gets the save even though there’s a 4 run margin now.

Braves = babies
Mariano = a man who takes candy

Jamal G. says:

You know what would be really fucking awesome right now? A meaningless two-run jack by The Stat Padder himself.

e mills says:

obviously everyone rather play for Pena than Girardi. Hope Cash gets the memo

That’s the second time you have said that. Are you serious?

Zach says:

What’s the % that Mo actually swings if he gets up?

Accent Shallow says:

How many runs do they have to score here for Mo not to finish? I say 6+.

Also, look at Mo getting instructions from Melky. Looks bored.

There’s no way they wouldn’t let him pitch the ninth. He needs the work.

BigBlueAL says:

Melky having a blast with Mo. LOL

This is bullshit, if Mo comes up then pinch hit with the damn bases loaded up by four.

Drew says:

hahaha Mo looks so funny

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

that would be kinda interesting seen mo hit.

I want Mo to bat SO BADLY right now.

Dela G says:

lol with mariano having a chance to hit

Bruno says:

Mo don’t need no practice swings!

The Fallen Phoenix says:

JobaWockeeZ says:
JobaWockeeZ says:

Teix is the man says:

c’mon on yanks, no more bitch assness!

BigBlueAL says:

Im holding my breath right now….

I hope he has a goofy grin like Nick Swisher when he pitched.

Dela G says:

WOW THIS WILL BE AWESOME

Accent Shallow says:

You know you can’t find the plate when you walk Robbie.

Mo hitting! Please just stand there and hope he walks in a run.

Bruno says:

That was intentional to get Mo up.

It was ironic that Robbie took the walk for the one AB where he should have been wildly hacking at bad pitches to try and make an out intentionally so that Mo wouldn’t bat.

Teix is the man says:

MO RUTH! Melvi, take notes.

Zach says:

I wonder if Posda is laughing in the dugout

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

wow mo smoked that to center.

Jamal G. says:

God damn you, BABIP!

Bruno says:

Dam Mo! He hit it dam good.

Evan says:

Aww, I thought Mo got a hit.

I love Mariano Rivera.

handtius says:

Accent Shallow says:

BigBlueAL says:

Mo is such a natural athlete.

Dela G says:

wow that was incredible

Drew says:

That was great. This game has got to be the start of something.

Andrew says:

Good contact by Mo.

The Fallen Phoenix says:

McCaff says:

V says:

So, uh, where’s Lanny?

A.D. says:

Jumping off a bridge because the Yanks are up.

Jake H says:

Mo didn’t want the braves pitcher to hate himself so he willed that ball into the CF’s glove.

A.D. says:

Crousset would have hit a 6 run HR there.

anonymous says:

Im gunna miss this meme.

tony from the bronx says:

C C seems to be a great team mate, all around good guy

Benny Blanco from the Bronx says:

Accent Shallow says:

Gameday classifies that as “Mariano Rivera flies out to center fielder Nate McLouth.”

Blasphemy, Gameday! Apparently someone’s still bitter from the 1996 and ‘99 World Series.

Andrew says:

lol this is from Nomaas’s twitter account: “Mo has more power than Brett Gardner”. It’s true.

Dela G says:

HAHAHA NOMAH is on a damn computer rather than playing

Jamal G. says:

Reading is fundamental, dude.

Dela G says:

Who knew he could smoke the ball

I can’t believe Mo smiled while he was in the batter’s box. Someone needs to take him aside and tell him a little something about being professional and respecting the game.

Accent Shallow says:

Is it me, or does Matt Payattentiontomylastname look exactly like Chipper Jones?

Zach says:

made him look ugly

V says:

What I wouldn’t have given for a Mo grand slam…

Evan says:

Mo said, “Screw you and your oddly pronounced last name.”

Hova says:

That last sequence reminded me of why I love this team so much. Awesome. Mo is immortal, and hopefully we’ll all be there when its his turn in Cooperstown.

JobaWockeeZ says:

What are you talking about? He will pitch forever and we’ll be long dead before he retires.

Accent Shallow says:

Mariano Rivera is pretty good.

Nate McLouth is not that good.

Teix is the man says:

whoa whoa whoa, Nate McLouth is the epitome of grit. the yankees would jizz in their pants if they eva’ got him
Francesa’d

IvanS says:

This is the best that Mo’s cutter’s looked since 2008.

Teix is the man says:

Francesa on Joba’s start tomorrow: “Overaaaallll, I thought he was OK. Not goooood, just okaaaay. I just didn’t think that he had teh grit that…that was necessaaaarrry to gut out dat last innin’. When I saw him, I said to myself ‘Masterson might have given up a grand slam in this situation, but he would have come back to strike out da siiiiide.’ I just did not think dat of..of Joba, if, if he eva got in dat prediicccament.”

LiveFromNewYork says:

Francesa: “and I’m still fat and stupid”

Zach says:

“they took him out because they’re babying him and dont want to leave him in to give up 7, 8, 9 runs”

guarantee that comes out of his mouth

Drew says:

BRING ME PORCELLO’S STATS!

e mills says:

who you guys think should get the belt tonight? I think Swisher for his catch and dinger

e mills says:
yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

yea true dat cant forget about cervelli.

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

probably arod cuz of that clutch hit.

Dela G says:

LiveFromNewYork says:

Drew says:

A-Rod. Huge hit, and you know he could use the confidence boost.

e mills says:

funny that a belt could actually do that for him

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

I realy think this is the start of a very good run i guees that meeting really worked :)

handtius says:

2015: Mo retires, as a pitcher. Become the Yankees CF and hits .330/.450/.600, nabbing the MVP and in the world Series, game 4, he comes in from center to pitch a 9 pitch, 3 strike-out inning, sealing their 31st WS title.

EB says:

Dela G says:

YANKEES WIINNN!!

THAAAAA YANKEES, WIN!

Zach says:

And everyone takes a step back from the cliff

LiveFromNewYork says:

I was never near the cliff. I don’t like the people who hang out there.

Except for Mike Francesa. With ARod, Swisher, and Joba all turning in huge performances tonight. he’d be experiencing a soul-crushing moment of self doubt… if he had a soul.

ranger11 says:

If he had a soul? Thats’s cold even though I agree!

LiveFromNewYork says:

he will console himself with a box of Twinkies.

handtius says:

Evan says:

There you go, Yankees!

Eight days off, strikes out everyone he faces. Amazing.

G.O.A.T.

Mariano Rivera >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> L.L. Cool J

handtius says:

L.L. Cool J >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> …ummm.

handtius says:

you’re reaching man, reaching.

Insane Clown Posse. Bam, there’s your answer.

JeffG says:

How good was he tonight? – Fucking fantastic!

Accent Shallow says:

Hova says:

Man, I don’t wanna see Cervelli leave when Molina comes back. Called a great game tonight and got this team going with his solo shot.

JeffG says:

Nice to watch a good game of baseball!

BigBlueAL says:

I’m most encouraged by Joba’s 0 walks tonight.

Hova says:

Absolutely. The most important aspect of his start.

And was it me or did it look like Joba was working faster today? Whatever adjustments he made, they worked tonight.

Greg says:

That was very encouraging since he has had so many problems with control of late. He left pitches up and got a little lucky until that 7th inning where they started finding the holes. Pretty effective outing though, that’s what scoring 6 runs will do.

Charlie says:

I love Cervelli. Is it just me, or does he have “true yankee” written all over him.

handtius says:

“true yankee” is a myth.

Greg says:

lol, I wonder if he wants Scott Brocious back in place of A-Rod.

I think this comment is serious. That scares me.

Charlie says:

honestly, it wasn’t, but whatever. I don’t know how it would scare you if it was.

Because the phrase “true Yankee” is annoying.

Stryker says:

i don’t know how many times i have to say it — the concept of a “true yankee” is bull.

The Fallen Phoenix says:

Is it because he’s played his entire professional career in the New York Yankees organization?

handtius says:

4:30 am…good time to get some sleep.

Accent Shallow says:

Where the hell are you, the UK?

handtius says:

Charlie says:

This was just an awesome win, Joba did a great job. By the way, while i’m not his biggest fan, give Girardi a ton of credit for picking a great spot to get thrown out. IMO, there’s nothing better a manager can do when his team is slumping than get thrown out of the game. It fires up the team every time. Not to mention, he was completely right about the call, too. Overall just a great game.

handtius says:

man, you’re funny…lets hear another.

Greg says:

Yep, it was obviously Girardi willing his team to victory. Girardi made them get all those hits. Reminded me of the way classy Joe Torre won all those games single handedly for the Yankees. It had nothing to do with good hitters getting out of a slump and variance.

Charlie says:

Obviously the players are the ones who one this game, but come on, do you really think girardi gettin tossed had nothing to do with it? Maybe not a lot, but a little at least.

Reggie C. says:

Lets say there’s no Stephen Curry and Johny Flynn available.

Who do the Knicks pick b/w Tyreke Evans and Brandon Jennings on the board??

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

brandon jennings but i really want stephen curry hes perfect for are system.

Dela G says:

i want steph curry too

Charlie says:

i doubt tyreke evans will be there at 8, but if its him and jennings, definitely take evans. To me, this isn’t really close at all. Jennings is overrated and seems to have a bad attitude. Evans has plenty of upside

Reggie C. says:

there’s word out that Flynn is being targeted by the Wolves at the 5/6 slots. That would likely knock Evans all the way down to the Knicks. I also read that the Knicks are high on Jrue Holiday , that underperforming UCLA PG.

I’d like to see Evans be the pick. He too seems like he could contribute immediately.

Dela G says:

wow i feel so much better after tonight

grrrreat win

Teix is the man says:

tony the tiger, is that u?

Dela G says:

AsianShuutoHeat says:

Did anyone else spray sparkling wine all over the place to celebrate this win? I need to go buy me some more bubbly, I used up all my post season bubbly….

Teix is the man says:

Attention B-Jobbing Trolls, you can now STFU!

Drew says:

He can’t even go teh 7 innings!!!1!

Zach says:

Drew says:

LSU dogpile is sweet. Gotta love baseball

Zach says:

Yankeees win and Erin Andrews is fine, good day

Dela G says:

i met her in san antonio 2 years ago. Not only are her boobs bigger in person, but she’s very very tall. Maybe about 6′1 in heels. I am 6′2 and i felt short.
