FL Yank says:

I can’t believe that just happened lol.

ARX says:

My neighbor upstairs, a huge Mutts fan, literally screamed ‘WHAT THE FUCK YOU IDIOT!??!’….beautiful.

yankees=warriors says:

That is one of the greatest moments in my Yankee fan-dom.

Dan2 says:

man, I really thought (hoped) that Mo would get a hit, but i’ll gladly take an RBI walk.

Tough call on Teixeira though

Zach says:

but it wasnt a save situation, why was KRod in?!?!

Bryan V says:

Pasqua says:

So, based on their approach to the 3-2 count…

Rivera > Teixeira?

:)

ArodMVP217 FTW! says:

was there any doubt?

YankeeJosh says:

Is it sad that I’d rather have Rivera up with the bases loaded than Cano?

Drew says:

Well, that may be the only time ever we see a pitcher notch an rbi in the same game he notches career save number 500

Zach says:

1st RBI and 500 SV in same game. Willing to bet that will never happen again

FL Yank says:

Not just “an” RBI…his first and only RBI.

ARX says:

I suppose by some miracle he might enter in a tie game in a NL park. In the World Series :-) then he might bat and get an rbi. (yeah I know, aint happening…..but its possible)

Dela G says:

that was such BS on the tex K

LivefromNewYork says:

That was truly wonderful. I wasn’t expecting it and I jumped off the couch when he walked.

Will (the other one) says:

I want the poster. Split-screen it–on the top, Mo leaning back for ball four; on the bottom, Jerry Manuel hanging his head in disbelief.

Unbelievably awesome.

Sam says:

Play K-Rod off, keyboard cat

Bryan V says:

That misses “somewhere” is right. ???

Wow Mo just accidentally the other thread

mustang says:

Can thing get any worse for the Mets?
I almost feel sorry for them…… almost.

Salty Buggah says:

Mo should bat more often. The man is a god. He can do ANYTHING!

500th save and his 1st RBI.

Beautiful.

Pasqua says:

Shhhhhhh….not over yet.

Salty Buggah says:
Pasqua says:

LivefromNewYork says:

do. not. jinx. it.

Drew says:

He’s not Mo anymore. He should retire to CF. Mo>>Gardbrera

Professor Oak says:

I’m actually glad Tex struck out, if he RBId then there would be no save opportunity for Mo

Pasqua says:

No, it would still be a save, because he came in in the 8th inning with tying and go-ahead runs on/at bat. Finishing the 9th would finish the save.

They could’ve scored 40 runs in the inning but because he entered in a save situation, it’d still be a save.

Drew says:

he came in during a save opp

Jackson says:

I’m pretty sure it would still be a save situation, it matters what the situation is when you enter the game right?

whozat says:

Doesn’t work that way…he entered in a save situation, so as long as he finishes the game and the Yanks win (like they just did, heh), he gets the save.

That was a strike just ’cause it was Mo.

Salty Buggah says:

Can Mo please teach Cano some patience? ;)

NYQ says:

Better than Jeff Francoeur.

Zach says:

murphy has no chance

I wish Mo would have pumped his fist on his way to first base, but alas he is too classy for such things.

ARX says:

Where’s my broom…

yankees=warriors says:

Great day for stats!
1st win for Wang, 1st RBI for Mo and 500th save for Mo.

Zach says:

wow which one of those is the biggest?

yankees=warriors says:

LOL, now that you’ve mentioned it…seriouly hard to pick!

Steven says:

Jeter’s face and Mo’s walk, EPIC VICTORY

Salty Buggah says:

500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MO IS DA BEST IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE!!!!!!!!!!

Accent Shallow says:

Zach says:

all his teammates are coming out of the dugout- they do tha after EVERY win

ARX says:

Clean sweep, Mo’s 500th, and a walk…what a weekend

Salty Buggah says:

Congrats to Wang for his 1st win too!

VO says:
Zach says:

You clever, clever bastard.

thurdonpaul says:

very good, tipping my hat to you

Andy Stankiewicz says:

I love Mo so much I would let him sleep with my wife.
Congrats Mo on # 500 !!!!

BigBlueAL says:

pat says:

This was not a subway series this was a subway raping.

ArodMVP217 FTW! says:

you just gave me an idea :P

Drew says:

I love seeing history.

mustang says:

Congrats
To the Greatest Closer in the history of the game.

There is no replacement for him.

Zach says:

shhh i dont want to think of life post-mo

mustang says:

Be afraid be very afraid.

NYQ says:

Except for JOBA!!!!!!!
By the way you can see me on WFAN from 1 to 6

JobaWockeeZ says:

Heh I thought CMW doesn’t keep us long enough in games?

Reggie C. says:

Mo better get pied!!

Mo is the man!! Do they dare cream pie him?

gxpanos says:

Mo is merciful and good. He knew Murphy needed a pick me up, gave him the single.

Not so merciful to the Mets as a whole, of course.

John Duci says:

The whole situation starting when Jeter came to the plate was hilarious. First, they send Cervelli to the on-deck circle. Then, they get someone up in the bullpen. Cora went to talk to K-ROD and so did the Mets pitching coach. Then Jeters face was just priceless.

NYQ says:

I want a picture of that

Dela G says:

ball game over… yankees win! thaaaaaaaa yankees win!

#500!

LivefromNewYork says:

Pasqua says:

This might be my favorite win of the year: 1) 500th save for the most classy of acts; 2) K-Rod’s [cough] loss of the plate; and 3) This will probably send Mets fans into a tailspin and I can listen to sports talk radio and enjoy another NY team getting shit on all day long.

Bill says:

Still the greatest. Mo is awesome.

Nady Nation says:
Zach says:

nothing more needed to say

Zach says:

So Francesa called Joba embarassing/atrocious for walking in a run, what is he going to call KRod for walking Marinao freakin Rivera?

Drew says:

K-ROD IS A RELIEF PITCHAH!

LivefromNewYork says:

it’s still the funniest thing to me. Just hilarious.

ARX says:

I couldnt stop laughing for a good 10 minutes.

Bryan V says:

I’m in awe of Mariano.

JobaWockeeZ says:

Joe Morgan is no longer an idiot.

thurdonpaul says:

what makes him a non-idiot ?

DGeezy says:

Mo mustve pardoned his idiocy

Evan says:

Mo with 500 and 1, Wang with 1 for the season (Anthony Young can breathe easy).

BigBlueAL says:

So the Mets got 9 hits and 2 runs the whole series. Ouch.

Will (the other one) says:

Wang gets his first win of the year; Hughes pitches excellent ball out of the pen; Mo gets an RBI before dropping the ball into Jorge’s glove to convert his 500th big-league save. This may not have been the most important win of the year, but it’s definitely my favorite thus far.

Accent Shallow says:

Confirm/deny:

1) The Mets are a Little League team

2) K-Rod is now banned from mound celebrations for life

NYQ says:

Definitely confirm

LivefromNewYork says:

When you walk a run in by walking a pitcher who has been at the plate what 3 times in his career? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

ARX says:

Drew says:

First and foremost, I’d like to thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee. :)
Now let’s go get #27 boys.

LivefromNewYork says:

Mets: what were you thinking?

They bitch about injuries but how does Krod walking Mariano have anything to do with injuries?

mustang says:

Who gets the Mets dumb ass play of 2009 Subway Series?

1- Castillo drop for the win
2- Murphy miss play at first
3- K-Rod walking MO

I go with Castillo

ARX says:

Castillo. It directly cost them the game, Murphy’s play was just boneheaded and the walk was just….legendary. But still just a tack-on run

Zach says:

Castillo because it actually cost them the game. KRod just cost him his dignity

Bill says:

Jerry Manuel for even throwing a strike to Jeter with Mo batting next. He lost a battle of wits against Joe Girardi for God’s sake. The Mets would be much better off firing him soon.

mustang says:

Totally agree even my wife was like why don’t they just walk him Mo can’t hit.

A moment later she said well I didn’t know the pitcher was a idiot.

I laugh so hard I started to cry.

pat says:

Espn brought up a good point.. Mo had absolutely no reaction after the third out. K-rod is such garbage.

mustang says:

When your that good you don’t need a reaction.

Accent Shallow says:

The Albuquerque Isotopes stole their name from the Simpsons, couldn’t they have stolen the uniforms? Wow, are those ugly . . .

ARX says:

Wheres that clip from Majro League II? I think Mutts fans are like that right about now
