Marte’s shoulder okay says Dr. Andrews

Mark Feinsand tweets that Dr. James Andrews gave Damaso Marte‘s left shoulder two thumbs up, and the pitcher will return to Tampa. He’ll continue his rehab there, but there’s still no timetable for his return. As poorly as he pitched earlier this year, a healthy and effective Marte would go a long way to improving any bullpen, not just the one in the Bronx.

Now hopefully Dr. Andrews can share similar good news with Chris Garcia.

WOOOOO! yanks are 2-2 in visiting dr andrews & escaping without anyone having season ending surgery.

    this is awesome news.

not awesome news is all the people thet are going to come on here and say he stinks and we dont need him and he is a waste and not a good pitcher and they never shouldve signed him because they dont read stats or even probably know what they mean. sigh

    • I think “awesome” might be overdoing it. As T-Kep notes in a piece praising the bullpen, Marte hasn’t pitched in the Bigs since April 25, and this news simply means, according to Kepner, that “he will resume a throwing program in Tampa with no timetable on his return.”

“Awesome” would be getting a healthy and effective Marte back. For now, we don’t even know when that might be.

Damn 1.95era for those guys this month, I think thats gone under the radar, probably because everytime they give up a run its front page news

  4. JGS says:

  5. Double-J says:

Let’s hope he gets back soon! We can use all the bodies…erm…help we can get at this point!

  6. Zach says:

Glad to see Andrews says hes okay, but still he’s probably more then a month away right? Eh, maybe DRob, Bruney and Coke can be that bridge, we’ll see.

  7. Jake H says:

I am glad he is ok. Now hopefully Garcia is too.

Marte will be a big boost in that bullpen. He’s last 11 innings last year were scoreless and he had 15 strikeouts. It’s not he’s fault he got injured in the WBC and felt discomfort in spring training (with Joe Girardi and other coaches knowledge) and still thrown out there to get beat up to start the season.

THe Yankees love to throw there players out there when there not 100% and wonder why they have so many injuries. At least Marte admitted he’s injuries and didn’t mask it like HUghes.
