2009 Draft: NoMaas catches up with Damon Oppenheimer

By Mike Axisa

Lane Meyer at the wonder NoMaas Draft Blog interviewed Yanks scouting director Damon Oppenheimer about all sorts of post-draft topics. They talked about Slade Heathcott, Graham Stoneburner, Brett Gerritse, plus a whole bunch of the other tough signs. Make sure you head over and give it a read. Great stuff.

Andy in Sunny Daytona says:

Wow, comparing a white guys athletic skills to 2 black guys? Someone better tell Damon that you don’t do that.

A.D. says:

Wonder if Heathcott has D-1 point guard potential as Henry & AJAX did/do

DreDog says:

He needs to go the Red Sox school of scouting.

crawdaddie says:

Why not? Brett Gardner runs as fast as any black ballplayer in the majors.

Bo says:

You rarely hear the same comparisons the other way. Never hear the black guy whos a grinder. Who knows the game. The media always compares them to someone they look like.

A.D. says:

Due to last year’s circumstances some fans are getting a little bit edgy about Slade Heathcott and JR Murphy.

100% agree, especially after last year when most people seemed to go with the “don’t worry he’ll sign” with Cole.

ArodMVP217 says:

Don’t worry; they’ll sign.

King of Fruitless Hypotheticals says:

icuwdt…and it scares me :)
