-Is this Ajax’s first major slump of the season?
-Great to see that from Bleich
-Mariel Checo is a beast, just sayin’

  • Mike bk

    excellent work by bleich
    jesus was jesus
much better for marte? any word on velocity?
jairo isnt about results now just getting work
i think brackman out of the pen might help him the rest of the year for confidence cause im not 100% sure but most of his outings strarted out decent and fell apart later.

    • Mike bk

      forgot checo.

    • YankeeFan

According to Jennings he was low 90s, Marte was.

      • Mike bk

that’s a big improvement from 88 the other day

Heh. There is no truth to the rumor that I macramed myself a pair of jeans shorts.

        • Dela G

his ERA is was 4.76 in 5.2 innings before today…

          • whozat

He’s on rehab. Did you expect him to be lights out from the get-go?

            • Dela G

              not at all

  • http://www.puristbleedspinstripes.com Rebecca-Optimist Prime

Jesus Montero is reason enough to keep on keepin’ on

    • Steve H

Shoulda traded him and Hughes for Washburn :)

  • Dela G

This DOTF report, like last nights, is the only thing keeping me sane

  • E-ROC

Jorge Vazquez and Jesus Montero are going to be a nice 1-2 punch to watch at Trenton.

    • RollingWave

Jesus isnt’ going to be there for long at this pace. I’d give him a cup of coffee in September unless he slumps badly next month.

  • YankeeFan

Any word on Montero’s defense and if he is improving? He has a solid RF/game and is throwing out 32% (14 for 44) which is respectable.

  • RollingWave

Jesus Montero is on pace to hit more extra base hits than strikeouts this year. that’s absurd

  • Chip

Well it’s good to see that Jesus is finally making the adjustment to AA :D

  • JobaTheHeat62

Jesus Montero is so much fun to watch

could you imagine a septmeber callup for a teenager??

  • Adam

    BRACKMAN FOR THE 8TH INNING!

    • http://soxandpinstripes.com Angelo

YEAH! 7TH AND 8TH INNING! at least I won’t have to cry at night that way…

  • http://soxandpinstripes.com Angelo

The chances of Montero getting a cup of coffee in september is extremely unlikely. Its nice to dream though. Unless Montero starts hitting .400 for the rest of the season, and gets called up triple-A in the process, Montero will not get a chance this year.

    • Observer283

Well, he certainly won’t need to go to AAA for his bat. I think prospects like this can skip AAA (didn’t Justin Upton skip AAA).

IT’s just too bad his glove isn’t quite MLB ready. Plus, it actually hurts him for this season that he plays such an important defensive position. If he were to mash in August and played left field, there would be no reason NOT to bring him up.

But you can’t have a catcher who you don’t trust defensively. I really haven’t heard anyone talk about his defense recently. His CS stealing rate is certainly adequate.

Do we know if he is having trouble receiveing pitches? Blocking balls in the dirt? Whether he can call a game yet (which he probably can’t) is totally irrelevant since he’ll get every pitch from the bench.

If he mashes in August and has progessed to adequate defensively, call him up in September.

  • J.R.

    So weird theory.

Anyone think that Moose could be coaching behind the scenes with Bliech. I mean Stanford control pitcher? Wild speculation on my part, but Moose always has liked control pitchers (having IPK and Hughes, but not Joba moved next to him) and there is the Stanford connection.

Like I said, wild speculation, but interesting none the less.

  • wilcymoore

    Ajax is slumping …

Meanwhile, the Pirates just advanced ex-Yankee prospect Jose Tabata to AAA. Tabata was up to .303 in AA, although still w/o much power.

  • Jake H

Jesus is a beast. That guy is going to be special.
