It’s hard to hit sliders that are that far outside.
There have been some bad calls. But most of the sliders on the outside corner were strikes, according to gameday.
Looking at replay Cano shouldve drilled AJ in the face with the throw, probably wouldve gotten an interference called which wouldve meant an automatic DP.
Word. Cano doesn’t make bad throws like that at all. And from the replays AJ didn’t take the most innocent slide in the world either.

The game was on the line. I want the best pitcher on the mound when the game is on the line. I don’t see the logic in wanting Phil Coke to come in a game with the winning run on second but not wanting him to close the game out. It defeats the purpose.

If Phil Coke was the guy that you wanted to get the last 2 outs with runners on base, then he can be the guy to close the game out. Well, I’m not complaining but Teix’s slide was clean and aggressive. AJ’s was hardly even a slide, he lunged into robbie once he got by the bag.

Why can’t managers ever let a solid pitcher work through an inning? Hughes allowed a hit to Thome due to a shift gap and a hit to a great hitter in Konerko. So he really only allowed 1 hit. With such solid past performances of late and great out pitches one has to ask why he was even pulled.
If anything, why would you pull Hughes and bring in a subpar reliever in a game deciding moment? Kid allows 1 baserunner in nearly 3 innings pitched.
35 pitches, 2 runners on, and it wasn’t just a straight two innings, he came in for an out in the 7th, pitched the eighth, then came out for the ninth.

We have a lot of pitchers that don’t pitch well in high leverage situations. That is why Phil has been such a revelation in the pen. Coke, Ace, and Robertson are all poor in high leverage situations or worse than they are normally. We need relief help.
