  1. SouthernYankeeFan says:

    FUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKKKKK

  2. brad says:

    3 errors!!!!

  3. Mike Pop says:

    Lanny showed up? Suprise.

  4. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

I wish Cano was white and gritty, like Pedroia, he might actually be good…..

  5. DGeezy says:

    lets score some damn runs

  6. JGS says:

does that end Hughes’ scoreless streak?

  7. ARX says:

Just score 3 runs and noone will care…..and wtf, they ruled that A-Rod play a hit?!

  8. Brazilian Yankee says:

Let’s hope they remember how to hit. That’s the least they could do, since they don’t know how to play D.

  9. SouthernYankeeFan says:

What is the AJ #12 on molinas chest protector for.

  10. handtius says:

    That’s it. You’re dead, mallrat!

  11. Ivan says:

    How was that a K?

  12. Salty Buggah says:

We BETTER tie it up!!!!!!!! and WIN!

  13. yankees=warriors says:

I can already see how they lose in the playoffs in close games.
    Damn errors!

  14. Dela G says:

    cmon yanks

    lets get these hits going

  15. This game pisses me off because Pettitte should have won. End of story.

  16. Jake H says:

That wasn’t a dirty play but it was pretty close for AJ.

  17. V says:

Goddamnit, I hate this umpire. Surprised that 0-2 pitch wasn’t called a fucking strike.

  18. Brazilian Yankee says:

How many times can they go down looking? Swing the freaking bat.

  19. BigBlueAL says:

Looking at replay Cano shouldve drilled AJ in the face with the throw, probably wouldve gotten an interference called which wouldve meant an automatic DP.

    • Ivan says:

Word. Cano doesn’t make bad throws like that at all. And from the replays AJ didn’t take the most innocent slide in the world either.

  20. V says:

Ok, Girardi? Could we get one of those ejection thingies?

  21. Jake H says:

The terrible field didn’t help the Yanks that inning.

  22. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

swing the motherfucking bats you ‘tards

  23. Salty Buggah says:

    FUCK YOU UMP!

  24. Mike Pop says:

Dye does that more than anybody.

  25. Dela G says:

Jeter gets on base, just like i said he would ;)

  26. BigBlueAL says:

Anyone on Gameday or Pitch F/X are these pitches really strikes??

  27. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

At least Jeter knows whats up

  28. Salty Buggah says:

    cmon JD

  29. Jake H says:

Floyd got an ump that thought I’ll call everything a strike tonight.

  30. gxpanos says:

I think Damon’s got it right now. I feel something good in my bones. Baseball Gods (baseball Mo’s?) wont let that BS run stand up.

  31. Jackson says:

You know, this will probably sound like sour grapes and whining, but the Yankees lead the majors in walks and are 27th in strike outs. To me that says collectively they have a pretty good idea at the plate. They’ve struck out looking 7 times tonight, that means the umpires is doing a shitty, shitty job.

  32. ARX says:

    2 run jack?

  33. Ivan says:

    Tough AB here for Damon.

  34. Damn, Thornton’s killing it this season.

  35. V says:

See, Johnny swung, you guys happy?

  36. Dela G says:

    DAMON IS FUCKING AWESOME

  37. Mike Axisa says:

That was a nice piece of hitting by Damon.

  38. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    Oh geez

  39. Ivan says:

    Lets go Tex.

  40. Salty Buggah says:

    cmon Tex

  41. Drew says:

    http://brooksbaseball.net/pfx/.....v_size=500

Pitch F/X shows what we all thought.. I didn’t look at AP’s but I’m willing to bet we got similar calls.

  42. ARX says:

    OK….3 run Tex message then.

  43. V says:

If I were a fielder, and some asshole (AJ) ‘slid’ into me like that, I’d let him have my spikes, lol.

  44. JGS says:

    well, this sucks

  45. Dela G says:

    wow tex

    wow

  46. Mike Pop says:

    Damn. Was filthy that AB.

  47. The Yankees are channeling their inner Alfonso Soriano.

  48. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    kill me

  49. SouthernYankeeFan says:

shit man i hate games like this.

  50. Doug says:

    Damn, Thornton buried that one.

  51. charlespoet says:

well folks that is the game. Yankees defense cost them this one. They looked like shit in the bottom of the 7th. Hope they win tomorrow.

  52. Ivan says:

We can still win this game. If the score holds up, the yanks have their 3-4-5 hitters coming up.

  53. Brazilian Yankee says:

Runner on second, game on the lineup and our #3 hitter strikes out in 3 pitches. We definately don’t deserve this win.

    • Zach says:

now when Hughes strikes out other team’s 3rd or 4th hitters its damn Hughes is good. but when Thorton is having an amazing season strikes out Tex we dont deserve to win? how many fucking come back wins does this team need before people stop giving up before the game is over?

  54. Drew says:

Al Deki Swish then Cano, I like our chances

  55. Salty Buggah says:

3 errors (only charged 2 though)…1-8 with RISP. We better win

  56. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

This game wasn’t lost on bad pitching or hitting, both teams pitched well, neither team hit well. If we lose its because of damn defense =(

    • Mike bk says:

that leaves Z-Mac. like to see what Bannister costs since he is younger and under team control for a while.

      • Johan Iz My Brohan says:

        Bannister please, no Washburn.

      • Drew says:

Plus Wash’s stock is way too high right now.

        • Johan Iz My Brohan says:

At this point I would rather wait until the rosters expand, and just use a combination of whoever we call up.

        • Zach says:

it’s not like its going to go down between now and 4pm tomorrow.

everyone wants a starter, but doesnt want to give up those top 4 guys. what else is left besides him? Royals GM said hes not looking to sell didnt he? if they’re just getting a mid level prospect why would they trade bannister?

          • Mike bk says:

i agree with you both especially with bannister get 50% GB’s while Washburn is getting only 36% GB’s and 43% flyballs accoring to fangraphs.

            • Zach says:

Yeah but what incentive does KC have to move him? He’s cheap, under control for a few more years, and what are they getting in return? if its the same package then yes i pick bannister, but it cant be the same package for both

        • Chef says:

Well, if Washburn walks after this year, the Yanks get a sandwich pick that would replace which ever guy they took.

I’d trade Z-Mac for Washburn and a sandwich pick in a heartbeat.

    • For lack of a more creative name... Alex says:

That would probably be fine with me but I’m worried about Washburn’s flyball ratio.

  57. Ivan says:

    Gordon Vs. Hughes. Interesting.

  58. Chef says:

    Lets be honest here.

Pettitte deserves the win?!?!?! I’d say Floyd deserves it. Pitched a great game against a better offense than Andy faced.

  59. JGS says:

    and here we go

  60. Dela G says:

    hughes = philthy

  61. Cokie says:

If only we had Bay, Lowell and Drew coming up. Guaranteed win!

  62. Doug says:

    Where’ Jenks?

  63. Cokie says:

    Hat trick for ARod

  64. DGeezy says:

    ugh arod ugh

  65. BigBlueAL says:

Its games like tonight that fuels the ARod haters.

  66. Mike Pop says:

    Why isn’t Thornton a SP?

  67. Doug says:

A lefty throwing 97-98? That is just absurd.

  68. King of Fruitless Hypotheticals says:

at Busch tonight. Manny got boo’d pretty loudly. A few syringes in stands. Extra innngs. 5 1/2 year old Daughter got on jumbotron singing TMOTTBG.

    Pujols, ankiel, Holliday hit homers.

    GREAT crowd, nice stadium.

    Torre looks like…torre.
Manny missed an easy catch, and there was much rejoicing.

  69. DGeezy says:

we’ve struck out QUITE A BIT tonight

  70. Hova says:

So frustrating to know we gave this game away. In no way did the White Sox earn this win. Fuck.

  71. gxpanos says:

Oh my Mo. Take some pitches. 7 pitches, 2 K’s? Really?

  72. Brazilian Yankee says:

Let’s hope the day off our batters took today will help them throughout this series.

  73. SouthernYankeeFan says:

well hopefully Swisher can turn his night around right here.

  74. Mike Pop says:

    HOLY FUCK

  75. DGeezy says:

    FUCK YESSSSS

  76. Drew says:

    THANKYOU MR SWISHER

  77. Chip says:

    Wow, Thorton is damn good

  78. Zach says:

    suck on that ozzie

  79. Manimal says:

    SWISHAA! HOLY FUCK

  80. ARX says:

    WHATS UP KOTHERFUCKERS!@!!!!!!

  81. For lack of a more creative name... Alex says:

    HELL YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  82. Doug says:

    SWISHAHOUSE!!!

  83. gxpanos says:

    SWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISH

    SWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISH

  84. BigBlueAL says:

    Take that Ozzie!!!!!!!

  85. Dela G says:

    NICK SWISHA

    THANK YOU JESUS!!

  86. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    FUCK YESSSSSS

  87. billbybob says:

    HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!

  88. Jackson says:

    That just happened

  89. Ivan says:

    SWISH!!!!!

  90. SouthernYankeeFan says:

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  91. handtius says:

YANKEES LOSE!!!! YANKEES LOSE!!!! wait, what, there’s a 9th inning. no one told me! what the fuck!

  92. Chip says:

    Wow, Thornton is damn good

  93. Manimal says:

    Rockie Road Redemption!

  94. Peter Lacock says:

    heh

  95. Salty Buggah says:

HOLY FUCK! I LOVE YOU SWISHA!

  96. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

then I JIZZED IN MY PANTS!

    fucking epic.

  97. Pastafarian says:

    Nick Swisher baby

  98. Chef says:

Rough part of the order coming up… Do you leave Hughes in?

  99. Doug says:

    The Third True Outcome.

  100. Ivan says:

    Wow that was riverting.

  101. Jake H says:

I swear the umps zone has now expanded up too.

  102. Did I not say Swisher would make Ozzie pay at least twice this series? There’s one, baby!

    STEVE H, WHERE YOU AT?!

  103. charlespoet says:

Mike Pop, nice call on the tying run.

  104. EB says:

Ozzie tried to put Swish in a box…. but its impossible

  105. Drew says:

Hughsie was lobbying Eiland in the dugout it looked like.

  106. AJ's Chin Music Ensemble says:

    SNICK WISHER!!!!

  107. ARX says:

I wonder how many turned their tv’s off after the 2nd out…

  108. nyrfan says:

    i love him….poetic justice

that’s why i love sports, moments like that

  109. gxpanos says:

I knew the Gods wouldnt let that run hold up. If the Sox want to win, do it with an EARNED run. The kind with hits and walks and not 37-year-olds falling and dirty slides by douchebags with bleach blonde crew cuts.

  110. Dela G says:

man i am so glad they got this to go to extras!

  111. Mike Axisa says:

    That … was awesome.

  112. Ivan says:

    Come on Hughes.

  113. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

So who do the Mariners rape from our farm? Any guesses?

Honestly if it is Z-Mac or Bleich I will not be happy. Even though Bleich is struggling I really like him.

  114. Jake H says:

    Are they stretching Hughes?

  115. Doug says:

    HEY GUYS IT’S JI
    JIM THOME

  116. JobaTheHeat62 says:

1 down in the ninth…i hope Phil gets us a chance in the 10th

  117. BigBlueAL says:

    Shift fail.

  118. Mike bk says:

if u r going to play cano in that position jeter has to be moved more up the middle than that.

  119. SouthernYankeeFan says:

    and the shift gets beat.

  120. DGeezy says:

a double play would be excellent right now

  121. Brooklyn Ed says:

Breaking News: Halladay isn’t going to the Yanks

10:33pm: Heyman says the Yankees and Mariners are now “talking Washburn.” The Yankees won’t part with Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain, Austin Jackson, Austin Romine or Jesus Montero, but with those exceptions, Heyman says the M’s have their pick of Yankees prospects.

  122. Mike Axisa says:

You can put it on the boaaaaaaaaaaaaaaard!!!

    YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYES!!!

  123. DGeezy says:

    ugh, cmon hughes

  124. Dela G says:

    damn it hughes

    we need some damn outs

  125. Jake H says:

Bad management of the BP there. Coke should have faced Thome.

  126. SouthernYankeeFan says:

    SHIT Lock it up Hughes

  127. Drew says:

    C’mon Cokie, you got this.

  128. gxpanos says:

It’s Mo time, not Coke time.

LEARN TO MANAGE BP’S, BASEBALL ESTABLISHMENT!

  129. Ivan says:

iight DP here Coke. Yanks need it now.

  130. dre says:

    where is Mo??????

  131. Mike Pop says:

    Shit

  132. Drew says:

This would be a great time to have the Melkman over in left field…

  133. Accent Shallow says:

I would be ok with Pierzynski getting hit by a car.

    Arguably biggest shithead in baseball.

  134. j says:

    1 more out…

  135. Doug says:

Wow. Pierzynski took off his hat and I was like “DOUCHE CHILL.”

  136. Dela G says:

    cmon cokie

    one more

  137. Mike Axisa says:

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like Coke is perpetually behind in the count.

  138. Jackson says:

I do not fear DeWayne Wise hear

  139. Mike Pop says:

    Wow…… so close.

  140. Dela G says:

    damn it

    UGH!

  141. DGeezy says:

    that was painful

  142. Ivan says:

    Fuck man.

  143. Accent Shallow says:

Horseshit. How does Gavin Floyd shut this team down?

    Garbage.

  144. dre says:

    thank you Girardi

  145. DreDog says:

That messed up a perfectly good day.

  146. SouthernYankeeFan says:

    SHIT

  147. Brazilian Yankee says:

Amazing, only the Yankees could lose to a .185 hitter.

  148. BigBlueAL says:

If Phil Coke cant get out Dwyane fuckin Wise, get off the freakin team.

  149. Jake H says:

    Just wasn’t our game.

  150. Drew says:

Fuck. And Coke might have broke his hand there.

  151. Doug says:

DEATH TO YOU DEWAYNE WISE I WILL SEE YOU IN HELL

  152. Bryan says:

    Well shit

  153. Evan says:

Games like this make me want to punch kitties.

  154. Lanny says:

Coke is average. He’s behind every hitter which leads to walks and big hits.

    • Mike Pop says:

      Yeah, most relievers are average.

It’s going to happen. Mo should have been in the game, but it’s all over now.

Like the game in Cleveland earlier this year, when he brought D-Rob in.

    • Zach says:

average? WHIP of 1.01 and batters are hitting below .200 against him

  155. VO says:

    Very painful

  156. Hova says:

So now there are 3 trustworthy arms in high leverage situations: Mo, Hughes and Ace. I pace quickly back and forth in my living room when they use any other BP arm in a big spot.

  157. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

This is the time we should use Mo for 4 outs….. and we don’t.

Way to go Phil Coke, ruining the better Phil’s scoreless streak.

  158. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

I know the rules say Hughes should get the Loss, as he did. But Coke deserves it big time.

    • Dorian says:

Sorry, Phil allowed the 2 runners. Anyway this loss goes on the defense and Girardi.

      • bonestock94 says:

        Girardi? Hindsight is 20/20…

        • Dorian says:

Not hindsight. I have always disagreed with the practice of saving your closer.

          • ranger11 says:

How long would he go for? It would be a tie game on the road with extra innings.

            • Dorian says:

The game was on the line. I want the best pitcher on the mound when the game is on the line. I don’t see the logic in wanting Phil Coke to come in a game with the winning run on second but not wanting him to close the game out. It defeats the purpose.

              • ranger11 says:

It’s a tough decision. I have no problem with what Girardi did. I really thought Coke was going to get through that and almost did. Fuck it, tough loss no matter what.

  159. Accent Shallow says:

    I hate Scott Podsednik.

  160. Dorian says:

This is the exact reason why I have NEVER understood when managers don’t call on their closer. If Phil Coke was the guy that you wanted to get the last 2 outs with runners on base, then he can be the guy to close the game out. Mo is the best pitcher on the team and he should be in the high leverage situations PERIOD

    • Lanny says:

What manager has ever brought his closer into a tie game on the road? It doesnt happen. Get over it.

      • Dorian says:

That doesn’t mean that it is the correct decision. If Coke can come into a game with the winning run in scoring position then why shouldn’t he be able to come into the game and get the last 3 outs?

      • Jack says:

He knows it doesn’t happen. He said he doesn’t understand why it doesn’t happen. Learn to read.

      • gxpanos says:

        OH MY GOD LANNY.

Why cant you understand how stupid it is when you say that? BECAUSE managers dont bring the closer into a tie game on the road is EXACTLY WHY we harp on it.

        • Mike Pop says:

No, Lanny only complains when gms do everything other gms do. Things that are okay – like having bench players on your bench.

          • Jack says:

Which is odd, considering that he is defending Girardi for going by the book. Go figure.

            [Sterling]You just can’t predict Lanny![/Sterling]

    • Zach says:

thats your belief. and some people look at Mariano’s numbers is non-save situation and think he shouldnt be in there in non save situations.

so just BECAUSE you press SHIFT ever now and then doesnt MAKE your OPINION better.

  161. Mike Pop says:

    Well, that was a dissapointment.

  162. bonestock94 says:

    Ah, what a heartbreaker..

  163. Lanny says:

This game is why Cashman will get another starter and especially another reliever. Probably a lefty.

  164. Russell NY says:

Terrible umpiring + 3 errors in 1 inning usually = loss

  165. Hova says:

To those who wanted Hughes in the rotation in place of Mitre. Just imagine this bullpen without Hughes. It would be like the beginning of the season all over again. Thank God Phil is staying where he is.

Tough loss but we’ll come back out tomorrow and crush this team. Yanks gave the game away tonight. Won’t happen again.

    • Mike Pop says:

Hughes let the 2 men on…

This one instance is not a good reason to bitch about the pen.

Shit like this happens all the times, even to the best of bullpens. That’s baseball.

      • Mike bk says:

pop not worth it. the people who whine whenever there is a loss will whine for at least another 100 comments about EVERYTHING.

  166. VO says:

I know it wasn’t the cause for the loss but I still blame the Pei….whatever the hell his name is slide for it. I always hated that guy, he’s an overall jerk. I hope Burnett remembers that for Saturday.

Also is anyone else worried about Phil Cokes hand? He looked like he kept grabbing it after the ball was hit.

    • bonestock94 says:

Nobody was complaining when Tex did that slide against the Rangers, it’s part of the game..

      • Drew says:

Well, I’m not complaining but Teix’s slide was clean and aggressive. AJ’s was hardly even a slide, he lunged into robbie once he got by the bag.

      • VO says:

No, what Tex did was slide in hard a little off the bag. This dude basically waited until he was 2 feet away from Cano then went down. Almost like he wanted to taken down the catcher.

    • Drew says:

Yeah he might of broken his glove hand when the ball hit off of it. Hopefully it’s just bruised, and at least it’s not his left hand.

  167. MJ says:

Why can’t managers ever let a solid pitcher work through an inning? Hughes allowed a hit to Thome due to a shift gap and a hit to a great hitter in Konerko. So he really only allowed 1 hit. With such solid past performances of late and great out pitches one has to ask why he was even pulled.

If anything, why would you pull Hughes and bring in a subpar reliever in a game deciding moment? Kid allows 1 baserunner in nearly 3 innings pitched.

  168. suppository says:

    Mitre tomorrow! Anyone else excited?!

  169. handtius says:

    LOUD NOISES!!!

Seriously, coke should be on this team, .185 hitters still get hits once in a while, etc.

The teams been amazing. it was a tough loss, but we’re still tied for the best record in baseball, still in 1st in the East. Come back tomorrow and get even, then take the series with 2 more.

  170. MJ says:

I will be attending Danks vs Sabathia and Buerhle vs Burnett on Saturday/Sunday. Should be some exciting duels.

Hip hip Jorge for good defense!

    • MJ says:

Oops, Danks vs Burnett and CC vs Buerhle.

      • Mike Pop says:

That’s awesome man. Hopefully our boys dominate, and if they don’t…

        We’ll cut your balls off.

        • MJ says:

Hopefully, they got a bunch of tikes holding down the infield fort. I don’t want to let an easy series like this get away from us.

Who woulda thunk a .185 hitter coming through and a walkman with 3 strikeouts hitting a 2 out homer to tie the ballgame? What a game, what a game.

  171. acb says:

this just shows you how bad coke has been in pressure situations. remember his save attempt? or even in baltimore when he got lucky with the 2 runners thrown out at home he hit the first guy then threw a wild pitch. I mean how do you fall 2-0 behind a guy batting 185? really looking foward to tommorow hopefully we get another lefty in th ebullpen

  172. Dorian says:

We have a lot of pitchers that don’t pitch well in high leverage situations. That is why Phil has been such a revelation in the pen. Coke, Ace, and Robertson are all poor in high leverage situations or worse than they are normally. We need relief help.

  173. Mike Pop says:

Well, it blows but i’m not too upset over this loss. Yanks been playing great ball.

  174. Mike bk says:

“11:05pm: Executives from three teams that have spoken with the Mariners tell ESPN.com’s Buster Olney that they get the sense the Mariners won’t move Washburn. The Mariners made a request earlier today, without asking for Hughes or Chamberlain, but the two sides haven’t spoken since.”

  175. MJ says:

We are just fortunate Swisher gave us the opportunity to take it to extras after bad defense/dodging rolling bodies.

  176. acb says:

im abit worried about the defence this is the 2nd time this week theyve made multiple errors in a game and this one clearly cost them. there outfield is awful everytime a ball is hit to johnny damon i hold my breath.

  177. yankees=warriors says:

The good thing is, Hughes can finally get a haircut!
