Salty Buggah says:

as long as we win I wont mind

Little Bill says:

LET’S GET SOME RUNS!!!!!!

Charlie says:

5 pitches last inning? Really? Come on offense, I even make sure I see more than 5 an inning in fucking MLB 2K9.

Salty Buggah says:

Mo sees more than that

I know I’ve said it a lot, but I want to repeat it because it bears repeating, Mo has a higher OBP than Jeff Francoeur.

That looked foul, IMO. Time for replay.

This umpire so has dinner reservations.

As long as we win this game could be over by 8.30 for all I care.

Tank the Frank says:

That was fair? Wow.

Accent Shallow says:

Take that, you shlub!

Little Bill says:

IT’S GONE! MELKY!

Charlie says:

UHHH, Melky shoulda crushed that 3-1 pitch.

Marcus says:

Does it matter as along as he crushes the 3-2 pitch?

Zach says:

Charlie says:

wow, that works. HE crushed the 3-2 pitch

dkidd says:

instant replay time

Fair or foul, that was quite the shot by Melky.

Manimal says:

Holy shit! That was a bomb

Salty Buggah says:

so mike, why did you delete that comment in the last thread? what happened?

I replied to the wrong comment, had some technical issues and never reposted it. Someone said I have a show to do, and I have no idea what they’re talking about.

Salty Buggah says:

Oh gotcha. I thought someone was impersonating you. I thought Axl was back or something.

Can we get a camera on the foul pole?

Zach says:

or a foul pole with a freakin laser beam

Drew says:

Mutated sea bass?

Zach says:

pat says:

Inclonclusive, call on the field stands.

pat says:

Tank the Frank says:

Salty Buggah says:

Melky? How’s that possible? RAB didn’t even bash him today ;)

pat says:

If the pole was a few feet taller it would have hit it. Homerun.

I honestly have no idea how they’re gonna call it. Hoping fair, obviously.

Manimal says:

Is it just me or do poles need to be way higher? It shouldn’t be possible to hit it over a pole.

dkidd says:

that’s what she said?

Charlie says:

God, melky’s better from the left side for the most part, but he can hit some bombs as a righty

Salty Buggah says:

Melkman! And it’s not even the 7th or later yet.

k says:

melky showing power!

Zach says:

Pujol intentionally walked in first inning

Terrible. Pick your skirts up.

Zach says:

whats more likely, 60hr at the end of the season or having an OBP .500+ for the second half of the season?

.500+ OBP, for sure.

Charlie says:

thats why i’m trading him in fantasy

Charlie says:

Oh fuck what happened?

Charlie says:

it says injury delay on gameday

Jeter got HBP but he’s okay.

Aww, Swish has a new friend.

Salty Buggah says:

He and Hinske were chatting it up.

Salty Buggah says:

Accent Shallow says:

You’re still a scrub, Washburn.

Ivan says:

Hughes available?

Salty Buggah says:

Yea, I think. That’s why he was taken out yesterday I think.

Charlie says:

yea, but petitte’s doing pretty good and we’re only in the 6th.

pat says:

Adam Warren got roughed up in his SI debut..2IP 7hits 6runs, 3ER 1BB 3k. 13.50 ERA

Salty Buggah says:

Charlie says:

Yea, I really didn’t like that pick in the 4th round. He’s really not that great. Hopefully he’ll bounce back, though

V says:

And who did Mr. Charlie prefer in the 4th round?

Accent Shallow says:

Possible Golden Sombrero for Branyan?

dkidd says:

cleveland steamer

Mattingly's Love Child says:

Wow, home plate is pretty large. It isn’t fair to give an old pro like Andy that much plate…

Tank the Frank says:

Pettitte no like lead.

Accent Shallow says:

Freakin’ Griffey.

Mattingly's Love Child says:

Wow, way to make Old Man Griff look like he’s still got it…

IvanS says:

YES did a bad job of showing at what angles those cameras were. I think even the one that looked straight on was more like home-to-first. You could tell by the angle the ball had as it was falling. I wouldn’t be surprised if the show was just to the left of foul.

IvanS says:

“if the *ball was just to the left”

Charlie says:

Salty Buggah says:

Damn I was just getting happy that Pettitte would keep the lead this time but nope. That was a YSIII HR wasn’t it?

Charlie says:

Yankee stadium 3?

I don’t think so, he hit that one well.

Salty Buggah says:

Alright. Im not watching but where it landed on Gameday, I though it might have been.

pat says:

Nah, that was pretty deep into the stands.

Salty Buggah says:

I hate it how Gameday now forces you to pay to watch in-game highlights.

John Duci says:

Rangers sign Marion Gaborik

Titicaca says:

Just wondering, can you get banned from using really frowned upon expletives?

Thank you, Franklin.

Evan says:

Fail baserunning from Guti.

dkidd says:

i thought it was 3-2 as well

ArodMVP217 Retire 51 says:

He almost got Jorge to fall for his trick

Jamal G. says:

IETI

(I enjoyed that idiocy.)

Tank the Frank says:

Wow. This is kinda like playing the Mets. Heads up play by JoPo and Cano there.

VO says:

Wow what a boneheaded play.

Drew says:

We’ve been playing great but, the teams we’ve been playing have been playing like idiots. I hope this new sense of confidence I have with the team as of late is not false.

Little Bill says:

Not sure where you’re getting playing like idiots. They’ve won 6 in a row…

Marcus says:

“…the teams we’ve been playing have been playing like idiots.”

Drew says:

…public school systems have failed little Billy.

Little Bill says:

IT IS GONE!!!!!!! IS A-ROD PLAYING LIKE AN IDIOT???????? 4-2 lead for the idiots!!!!!!

Drew says:

You really need reading lessons.

Charlie says:

wow, dude. he was talking about the yanks OPPONENTS playing like idiots, which is quite true.

Salty Buggah says:

It’s evening out luck really. Remember all those game we lost because of dumb mistakes.

Little Bill says:

I suppose he thinks the Red Sox are “fundamentally sound.” The same Red Sox team who ran off the field with only 2 outs. LOL! What a joke.

Drew says:

Reading comprehension is a beautiful thing.

Salty Buggah says:

No, he was talking about opponents making mistakes. But I was just saying that we had a lot of mistakes before too so its evening out the universe.

Drew says:

Yeah, I’m not complaining, I just hope that we don’t NEED the other teams to play like shit. Either way, with Al on the come up, we are the tops IMO.

Drew says:

why don’t you read my post again.

Charlie says:

Wow, Cole Hamels gets rocked again, think there’s something wrong with him?

What’s odd is that his strikeout numbers are there, and he’s keeping the walks down. I hope he improves.

Evan says:

The biggest difference I see is that his line drive percentage is pretty high (25%).

Jordan says:

Maybe tipping his pitches?

VO says:

The decline is so steep, you need climbing gear.

Evan says:

A-Rod must have a Buster Olney dartboard somewhere.

Drew says:

lol, he didnt even get that one. Al is a freak.

dkidd says:

he is a strong human being

k says:

GONEEEEE!! AN ABOMB.. FROM AROD!!!

Jamal G. says:

Not in the 7th inning or later, thus, M-E-A-N-I-N-G-L-E-S-S.

Manimal says:

Note to self:
Arod is almost back to normal

Charlie says:

Wow, i laugh in the face of those who doubted A-Rod

Guys, don’t get excited. Buster Olney said he’s done.

Tank the Frank says:

“He looks slow and old. He looks like a first baseman.”

Charlie says:

did he actually say that??

Yankees_Universe says:

Actually he said, a “scout” told him it looks like AROD grew 5 years older overnight.

Tank the Frank says:

The scouts he quoted did.

Note to scouts who get paid money to follow baseball players and know more about baseball than me:

You might wanna wait more than two or three weeks of a slump to declare someone finished.

Mattingly's Love Child says:

Way to steal my thunder!

That’s how I roll.

Hi, I'm Jerry, this is my associate Cornelius says:

Can I get that link? I need a good laugh.

Accent Shallow says:

So Washburn isn’t good? Huh.

BklynJT says:

So wait a minute… what’s Girardi’s reason for not putting in the 8th inning guy Bruney tonight??? Lost a little confidence in him has he.

Tank the Frank says:

I just got half a stock from that home run.

ArodMVP217 Retire 51 says:

GOLPEO’ UN JONROOOOOOOOONNNNNN ALEX

Mattingly's Love Child says:

Someone wanna call Buster and see if he wants to throw some more dirt on ARod’s coffin?

Oh wait, ARod’s still got it!

Salty Buggah says:

HELL YEA! A-BOMB BABY!

Let’s hope we can keep the lead this time.

daneptizl says:

If a player is the leading vote getter at his position, what happens if he gets traded to the other league?

ArodMVP217 Retire 51 says:

ROBI IS DUE, NO?

Monument Park looks so odd.

BklynJT says:

I don’t know about the scouts that buster “yankee hater” olney has been talkin too, but Arod sure does impress me. Maybe they need to stfu the next time they’re quick to bad mouth the Yankee 3rd baseman.

The Iron Horse says:

damn, a-rod just isn’t clutch

Mattingly's Love Child says:

Everyone knows homeruns in the 6th don’t count as much as homeruns in the 7th, 8th or 9th!

Salty Buggah says:

A-rod OWNS Washburn. His 7th HR against him.

Ivan says:

A-rod needs to retire.

Tank the Frank says:

Isn’t Hinske the guy that checked Shelley in the back during that spring training incident with the Rays?

pat says:

Nah gomes. He tried to at least and he literally bounced off shelley and fell on the gound. That kid Gomes was such a punk bitch.

Drew says:

He’s in baseball purgatory now, well, I guess the Reds aren’t that bad… heh

Evan says:

That was Jonny Gomes.

dkidd says:

Tank the Frank says:

Aaaaahhhhhh Gomes. I don’t know why I confused the two. But yeah Gomes is a punk hahaha.

BklynJT says:

Actually, i confused those two also. Isn’t Gomes the ass hole who scored a winning run and as he came across the plate, he was rocking a rocker sign with his hands and had his tongue sticking out his mouth. Class act.

pat says:

Mike how do you feel about the Brashear signing? My friend is a Rangers fiend and is pissed they let Orr go and signed Brashear.

Don’t like it at all. Orr’s ten years younger and signed for a cheaper annual salary. They basically spit in Blair Betts’ face after what happened in the playoffs.

pat says:

Yankee1010 says:

McAllister was pulled after only 4 innings and giving up 1 run. Does anybody know if anything happened to him?

pat says:

He walked a bunch of guys (3) as well as struck out a few(6). He probably just threw a bunch of pitches.

Steve O. says:

Yankee1010 says:

Yeah, but that’s not THAT many. I hope it’s only a pitch count issue, but you would figure that even with those Ks and BBs, he still wouldn’t run into a pitch count issue in only 4 innings.

Steve O. says:
pat says:

Haha a midgame promotion would be something else. I would imagine they’d let him pitch in the AA allstar game before promoting him.

Probably just pitch count, no biggie. They start cutting back in the second half.

Yankee1010 says:

I’m hoping. That’s a lot of pitches for 4 innings, even with the BBs and Ks.

The last thing they need is another pitching prospect with an injury.

Salty Buggah says:

Let’s hope Andy and the pen can keep the lead this time.

Mattingly's Love Child says:

Did you get my question in the previous thread about all the UConn players on the Pistons? It is definitely going to make checking box scores for how the UConn players are doing a lot easier!

Oh, no, I didn’t see that. But, yeah, I heard Gordon and Skillanueva signed with Detroit. Maybe I’ll start following the NBA and root for the Pistons now.

(Yes, this counts. Drink.)

Mattingly's Love Child says:

My wife is sitting next to me….she’s gonna ask questions if I start drinking right now!

That’s the rules, MLC. Start sippin’!

Mattingly's Love Child says:

Shit!

Do you have to drink if you break the rules that relate to you?

I’m definitely one of the people to bait you into talking about UConn…not that you needed much help with that!

Hehe.

Yankees_Universe says:

I wonder what stats Jayson Stark pulls out this time to compare AROD with some Boston player to prove that Sox player is better. He seem to pull out a meaning less stats out of his backside every time he talks..

dkidd says:

andy making friends with the new stadium

All his shitty starts at the new Stadium came against good hitting teams.

Salty Buggah says:

nah, he probably just found some dirty pictures of it so it’s being nice to him.

I want Hughes starting in Scranton yesterday.

/TSJC’d.

Tank the Frank says:

Yankee fans REEEAAALLLY seem to want their best young starting pitchers in the 8th.

Mattingly's Love Child says:

Everyone knows the 8th inning is the most important inning.

It’s the BRIDGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evan says:

These text polls haven’t exactly put the fan base in a great light.

Mattingly's Love Child says:

Well the majority of the population are morons anyway, so why would they be any smarter about baseball?

whozat says:

Fans don’t think about tomorrow. Neither do players. That’s why I always laugh when someone cites what a current player thinks about something like this…OBVIOUSLY he will say whatever is best for RIGHT NOW. Players don’t care about next year. They barely care about tomorrow. They play today, and they win today. Managers care about tomorrow, a little, they’re trying to manage the team to win over the whole season. The GM is supposed to be the one with the long-term plan, which is why it bothers me to hear Cash talking about managing Hughes’ career in order to make his vets feel better about winning today.

VO says:

Andy for the 8th, 2 lefties?

Little Bill says:

Hughes should pitch the 8th.

Drew says:

I may be the only one, but I’m ready for Bruney.
Not too against Philly though after only 9 pitches yesterday.

Little Bill says:

NO! That is a recipe for disaster.

JobaWockeeZ says:

Uhh what? Bruney isn’t Veras-esque. He’s a damn good pitcher.

whozat says:

…slow down, Turbo. Bruney’s great when he’s on, but erratic. Less erratic than Veras, but still erratic.

Zach says:

Pujols IBB in 2nd PA

Salty Buggah says:

so that’s 2 today?

Zach says:

2 in his first two PA, both times there was a runner on 2nd

pat says:

Niice, the bonds treatment.

zs190 says:

When you can pitch to Chris Duncan instead, seems like a good decision.

Zach says:

Ludwick actually bats right behind Pujols

Drew says:

Derek Jeter is old.

Will (the other one) says:
Little Bill says:

He also thought the Yankees were playing like idiots! 6 wins in a row going on 7…

Drew says:

Dude. Go read my post. I said the teams we are playing are playing like idiots! Holy shit.

Drew says:

Let me help you since you obviously need it.
http://riveraveblues.com/2009/.....ent-460375
Now, it says, “We’ve been playing great but, the teams we’ve been playing have been playing like idiots. I hope this new sense of confidence I have with the team as of late is not false.”
Comprende?

So’s your face.

Will (the other one) says:

Actually, people tell me I have a baby face. I attribute it to my fastidious moisturizing regimen and my adherence to a steady diet of age-defying makeup models.

pat says:

In the morning if his face is a little puffy Will (the other one? puts on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. Will (the other one? can do 1000 now. After Will (the other one? removes the ice pack Will (the other one? uses a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower Will (the other one? uses a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then Will (the other one? applies an herb-mint facial mask which Will (the other one? leaves on for 10 minutes while Will (the other one? prepare the rest of my routine. Will (the other one? always uses an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

pat says:

DAMMIT how the hell did I not notice I put a ? instead of a )

Will (the other one) says:

A+ anyway. I was really hoping somebody would pull a good American Psycho reference, but I couldn’t do it line-for-line like that myself. Also, the fact that you beat TSJC to it may earn you a gold star…or a trip to return some videos with him.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

dkidd says:

great great movie

Drew says:

Instead of going b ack to the 5th inning, tell us who’s pitching!

VO says:

I put 20 bucks that Joe G. puts Aceves in only for the first righty batter.

whozat says:

so dumb.

Stop overmanaging. Aceves has gotten lots of outs for you…how about a little trust?

Mattingly's Love Child says:

Why use 1 relief pitcher when you can use 2,right?

VO says:

Makes sense 2 is bigger then 1.

VO says:

Am I good or am I good?

Jon says:

Okay, why not just bring in Coke to start the inning? He has a .614 OPS against right handed hitters this year (61 PAs, it’s .640 against LHH in 68 PAs) so it’s not like he’s a LOOGY.

It’s Ronnie Cedeno, did they really need a righthander to face him?

whozat says:

Seriously.

Andy could’ve gotten that out, or Coke could have. Or, Aceves could have faced these lefties. But, hey, this way we’re basically guaranteed that three relievers will have gotten used, and probably four once Coke gives up a baserunner or two.

whozat says:

Well, four were going to certainly get “dry humps” at least.

Ivan says:

whozat says:

Betcha coke gives up some hits

BigBlueAL says:

Unbelievable that Girardi basically wasted Aceves for 1 batter, and that batter being Ronnie Cedeno.

Drew says:

Come on man, how was he wasted, he got an out, he’ll be ready to go tomorrow.

whozat says:

Yeah, and if he’s used tomorrow, then he won’t be able to go the next day.

Point is that 3 pitchers got up in the pen when only one was needed. And you know that Mo’s coming in unless they score 3 or more runs right here, so Hughes just warmed up for nothing.

Drew says:

I understand, but, win or lose, Joe G is put on the coals. His move worked, Mo is about to bang down #502.

Drew says:

I love this move, half way through the season, no Marte, Cokeman needs to get these two outs.

zs190 says:

Oh JoeG, you kill me, bring in Ace just to get Ronny Cedeno out? You mean Phil Coke can’t get Cedeno out?

Mattingly's Love Child says:

I’m starting to think I’m gonna have to start the “Girardi is a moron” Bangwagon…..we’re not there yet, but we’re getting there….

whozat says:

He’s not a moron, he’s just being a slave to the current book. Making safe moves. It’s annoying, but this is the current state of the industry.

LivefromNewYork says:

That’s true. There’s a line to toe.

whozat says:

And that’s stupid, because you’d like the organization to encourage thinking instead of toeing the media line.

LivefromNewYork says:

It wasn’t said with judgment. Just a fact of how it is.

Mattingly's Love Child says:

I really thought he was better than the “book”. Obviously I was wrong.

Whoever wrote this “book” needs to be hit in the head with a hammer!

RollingWave says:

A moron would be to put in Kei Igawa to face Cedeno and then Brett Tomko to face Ichiro / Griffey / Branyan

There have been 130 episodes of Centerstage? Holy shit.

Jon says:

Y not let Hughes get all 3?

The Iron Horse says:

his sombrero is golden

Branyan and Washburn = losses for my fantasy team tonight.

Mattingly's Love Child says:

pat says:

Hughes for the save?

Salty Buggah says:

I love how we all assume that we have all the information. I bet they planned on getting Ace into tonight’s game, being that he has not pitched in a week. So they had him warm, gave him a batter, and then went to the lefty for the two lefties. This board has gotten so hypercritical of every Girardi move.

Getting him a third of an inning doesn’t count as ‘getting him work,’ IMO. It just seems silly to put him in there for one batter, especially if Joe’s trying to give him work.

whozat says:

Fine, then get Aceves in the game and let him pitch. No need to go to Coke just for the sake of it. Aceves has gotten plenty of lefties out all year.

Drew says:

Ichio Suzuki. Why don’t you want Coke to have experience getting out big time Lefties?

whozat says:

…really? He’s never faced another quality lefty? Or he can’t face Ichiro…tomorrow?

Drew says:

You know what I mean… In a high/medium leverage situation, COke just got out arguably the best hitter in baseball. That means something.

Albert Pujols wasn’t batting…? ;)

Drew says:

I said arguably!!! heh

(Comments wont nest below this level)

Hehe; IMO, there’s no argument.

.457 OPS vs. LHH this year.

Mattingly's Love Child says:

Amen. Or just let Coke pitch the whole inning if you’re not so concerned with getting Aceves work. One or the other.

Drew says:

+1
I understand people don’t agree with moves, but shit, let Joe G. get the job done. That means let him do his job, the way he wants to do it.

Little Bill says:

Noone is preventing Joe from doing his job. It’s not like we’re storming the dugout and pointing a gun at his head. Jesus.

Drew says:

Why even argue, you’re right. After all, you “have all the information.”

Little Bill says:

Wrong. They are absolutely correct to criticize Girardi. Why can’t Aceves stay in the game when he gets the 1st out? Let him pitch to Ichiro, if he gets on then go to Coke vs. Branyan. We have all the information.

Because I would rather have the platoon advantage. Listen, the right call there is to go to Coke for the entire inning. If you want to get Aceves any work, you need to carve out a spot, and they did so.

Throwing a third of an inning is not “getting work.”

Drew says:

How many did he throw in the pen? Joe had his plan, I’m sure Ace knew the plan as well.

So throwing in the bullpen counts as getting work? Come on, that’s ridiculous. There was no need to use two relievers in that inning; either Coke or Aceves could’ve gotten those three out just fine, IMO.

Drew says:

I know I know… But sometimes Joe uses too many, sometimes too few, sometimes he fucks up, sometimes he’s right. His moves are criticized to no avail. I understand it comes with the territory but hey, we’re about to win.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

Accent Shallow says:

I was under the impression this is one of the reasons credited for the bullpen’s improvement last year: that the coaches took into account warming up when factoring how fresh a reliever was.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

This is how I look at it. He went into the game wanting to use Aceves. He also believes Coke is his best option against lefties, something that may not be supported by the splits, but those are a small sample, and it is perfectly logical to believe the lefty is the best option. So Pettitte goes 7, the 9th is Mariano’s, and so we have the 8th. He wants Aceves to get some work, but he also wants to win, and as I said, he feels Coke gives him the best shot vs. lefties. So the only way he gets Aceves in and serves his strategic goals is to have Ace pitch to Cedeno. I know, it is not a lot of work, but it is better than nothing, especially for someone who has not pitched since the 25th.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

LivefromNewYork says:

We don’t know why. There may well be reasons. I’ll call Girardi up after the game and ask him. Better yet, why doesn’t everyone email or tweet the Joe Girardi show with these questions?

Little Bill says:

Phil Coke is becoming quite the weapon in the bullpen.

Manimal says:

another hr for Montero?!

As in the HR he hit earlier or as in his second home run of the night?

pat says:

Just one, manimal is a little behind.

Manimal says:

As in the one he hit earlier… Didn’t think anyone commented on it yet.

V says:

d00d, quit getting my hopes up. Lol.

You mean the one he hit tonight or a second tonight?

Will (the other one) says:

I feel like we could use a “Jesus Watch” to go with the one for Brackman. Could be kinda fun.

Manimal says:

“Watches” Only apply to pitchers, hitters are every day while pitchers are once every 5th day.

Salty Buggah says:

JoPo seems to be slumping a bit

How the hell did Lopez get around on that?

Evan says:

It didn’t have as much zip to it (90.7 mph according to Gameday).

EB says:

Fun facts: Junior is exactly 8 days older than Mo. He is 4-11, 4BB, 1HR , 2K lifetime

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Sam Elam and Andrew Brackman should have a wild off.

Jason Neighborgall could be the judge.

pat says:

Harold Garce puts his hat in the ring.

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Harold Garce has been Greg Freakin Maddux this year compared to them

pat says:

Hahaha. I hadn’t checked his stats this year you’re right.

Accent Shallow says:

Yay Mo! Yay win!

The Iron Horse says:

start spreadin the news

dkidd says:

nice crisp win

now let the rain commence

Evan says:

Yankees win, baby!

brad says:

anybody see brackmans latest outing-3.2 inn, 0 hits, 8 bb’s, 5 er? ive never seen lines like the ones hes put up

Zach says:

dontrelle willis jr

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Jake H says:

I saw that. Scary.

Little Bill says:

7 straight wins. I always knew this team was great. I never wavered and I was probably the only one who didn’t panic during their mini slump in early June.

Teix is the Man says:

Yep…yeah you were the only one. You should be proud.

Little Bill says:

Well, I tried to explain to the whole site that there is variance in baseball. But many people didn’t want to hear it. “I don’t want to hear about luck or that’s baseball” is what they would say. I told them it would turn around and they still thought there was something seriously wrong with this team. They over-reacted more than Buster Olney! I’m sure the next time the Yankees go into a little slump they’ll do the same.

Teix is the Man says:

Okay, but everyone knew they were going to turn it around…this isn’t the Pirates we’re talking about.

Little Bill says:

No they did not. I wish we could go back and bring up these comments to show who the bandwagon fans really are. Variance and luck are concepts that Jon Sterling understands so I know the rest of you can. This isn’t LOLHud for God’s sake.

Zach says:

Dude, the majority of Yankee fans did not go jump off the cliff. The fans flipping out are just more vocal on the radio or post more here because they have irrational thoughts and need to express them.

Steve H says:

You can bring up those comments. Go look for them, you will find that a small % of posters here had the “season is over” mentality. Please, go find some quotes on previous posts and I’m sure they’ll be limited to just a few posters.

Drew says:

Axl, is that you?

Mattingly's Love Child says:

Good call. It must be Axl.

Drew says:

I’m sure you were the only one. ;)

Bill do not badger us with your logic. Do not pontificate with your reasonable agenda. We don’t want to hear any of your sensible theories or ideas. Every time the Yankees lose a single baseball game. Women and children are never the same.

LivefromNewYork says:

I do not remember panicking. I also do not remember you in early June.

V says:

Ditto. Who is this schlub?

Mattingly's Love Child says:

I don’t remember him either. I think Drew is right, it’s Axl.

No, you weren’t.

Manimal says:

All because of Girardi getting ejected.

Will (the other one) says:

Your Rick Sutcliffe impression is dead-on Manimal!

Teix is the Man says:

heh…delightfully manageable

Drew says:

So tomorrow we face a lefty. Do we sit the red hot Gritster? Damon? Melky? I’m assuming Hideki will DH b/c he does well vs. lefties. I’m thinking Swish might ride the pine tomorrow.

Why? He’s got an OPS of .840 vs. lefties this season.

Drew says:

lol well that’s why I’m trying to figure out who the hell sits! We don’t want to sit gritster again amidst a hot streak. Melky hit the ball great tonight. Hidekster is hitting nearly 300 vs. lefties. Damon’s the man. Who gets the bench tomorrow?

Will (the other one) says:

Yeah, it’s definitely a tough call. I’d almost like to see Hideki sit just to give him a day off from running, but that’s just me.

Steve H says:

And even if his OPS against lefties was .040, he’s still Nick effing Swisher!!

Drew says:

you soooooo have a man crush.

whozat says:

Gardner hasn’t had a hit since that 5-hit game.

Matsui’s played what, one game in the last three days? Cervelli will probably play over Posada, so he might DH instead, I guess.

It’s Gardner or Melky. I figure it’ll be Melky.

Drew says:

They just had a day off on Monday, I don’t think they’d DH JoPo just yet. Especially with the speedy Minnesota coming up. He’ll get his rest then imo.

aj says:

Now I can finally say “hey, how bout them yankees?”

LivefromNewYork says:

Mo says all games will end 4-2 in honor of him and his 500th.

Drew says:

Holy shit I just realized it’s 9:30. That was a quick game.

Jake H says:

That was a quick game tonight.

LivefromNewYork says:

Why does Michael Kay wear stripes. So annoying.

Tom Zig says:

We just won 7 straight…Fire Girardi!

Teix is the Man says:

They’re supposed to win 10 games in seven. This is ATROCIOUS!

pat says:

Those freakin cockbags up in Boston need to start droppin a few more games.

Steve H says:

Should have lost today, I was listening on the radio at work, got quite pissed off at Sherrill.

pat says:

Yeah he definitely shat the bed bigtime.

Zach says:

before today he was 17/19 in saves, 1.01 WHIP and 1.99 ERA so closers blow leads sometimes

Steve H says:

Ok, got pissed at their pen. 5-1 leads into the 9th are very rarely lost.

Zach says:

And 10-1 leads in teh 7th are very rarely lost too, they shouldnt have won last night and they should have won tonight, sometimes guys have off nights, Johnson, Sherril and Baez have been good all season, shit happens.

thurdonpaul says:

ill agree with that

Teix is the Man says:

Caller: umm yeah, what if the Phillies traded Madsen for Bedard?
Francesa: Are you kidding?! Do you know what kind of hole that would leave in teh pen?!

aaaaand scene
