Teix is the Man says:

who’s coming in?

lt says:

just listened to big michael kay say that its different then the ol days when noboby rubbed themselves when by a pitch. but questioned a guy rubbed his arm…hey mike..lets throw pitches at you and see if u dont rub ur arm..oh. thats right..u never played..

lt says:

sorry when hit by a pitch

Mike bk says:

Axisa showing the bullpen love…lol

Salty Buggah says:

Yes, please…even though we already should be as that was strike 3!!!

Dela G says:

right now it seems we need jesus to get out of this one :)

handtius says:

Well, he is a catcher. No help here.

Dela G says:

Salty Buggah says:

I dont want Ace here…I wanted Philly

Teix is the Man says:

Joba would be perfect for this role

lol. not many aces are taken out after 90 pitches after a 9 pitch inning. It’s happened, just not often.

Oh, ok. Because he’s an “ace”, he can’t be taken out of a game that he’s given up more runs in than innings he’s pitched.

Drew says:

lol dude, what do you want, an award because he only got two outs?

No, he just thinks your logic is a little flawed. Just because he’s an ace and a workhorse doesn’t mean he needs to be out there for 100+ pitches, especially if he’s not being effective.

Drew says:

That’s fine, as I’ve said, we just disagree. We’re not dealing with facts, we’re dealing with opinions.

Charlie says:
Charlie says:

i just really wanted to use that

Drew says:

Word, fire Girardi. He was wrong.

Charlie says:

He was indeed, wrong.

Drew says:

Wait, you were “right,” you should manage!

(Comments wont nest below this level)

I’ve used that like 5 times.

Charlie says:

sorry, never really saw that. And if i did, i’m not gonna lie. i would have used it anyway

Haha, word. It’s an awesome clip. I <3 Dr. Cox.

Dela G says:

roy halladay was taken out early on monday…

Drew says:

Ace backing up the Ace.

yankees=warriors says:

BklynJT says:

And THIS is why we were calling for Girardi to take out CC before the inning started.

Drew says:

heh, i guess your crystal ball is better than mine.

handtius says:

The Umps are having a down year. I don’t remember so many bad calls.

He probably thought it was low.

handtius says:

Well, frankly, he’s a jerk.

Mike Pop says:

Where are thr robotic umps! I want consistency.

Haha. Honestly, though, MLB needs to have a standardized, strictly enforced strike zone. Hitters and pitchers alike shouldn’t have to guess at where the strike zone is going to be on a given night.

Dela G says:

sometimes i wish they would review their own games every night and see how much they sucked

I’m relatively certain they do, actually.

But seriously, their job is not as easy as it looks.

Dela G says:

yeah i def agree, but as pros, they shouldn’t suck this bad….

Train says:

They do review their games every night. The difference between this year and years past is that the Questec system is no longer in use. They got replaced by something supposedly better but from what I’ve seen they have regressed.

Dela G says:

haha kay got too excited there…

Reilly says:

Strike him out Aceves!

Mike Pop says:

Why don’t you bring in Mo here?

Mike Pop says:

handtius says:

Shite. lost my stream. what’s happening?

Dela G says:

ace struck him out

yankees=warriors says:

Dela G says:

Reilly says:

Professor Oak says:

Reggie C. says:

Aceves is a true follower of the g-code.

Riddering says:

YES. MEXICAN GANGSTER.

How long until Ace starts getting his own merchandise?

Dela G says:

one day they’ll hand out free tshirts have the ace of spades as a promotion for this guy

Riddering says:

And on that day the world will tremble in awe!

Dela G says:

Charlie says:

awesome if they did… aceves is such a beast

Salty Buggah says:

Phew…Good job Ace

BklynJT says:

This reeks of a comeback and win for Aceves.

Hughes for the 7th and 8th? Unless of course, if Hughes uses more than 8 pitches to get out of the 7th. Apparently 9 is Girardi’s magic number for Hughes

Ivan says:

Well I can see Girardi using Aceves for the 7th which I would not have any issues with.

So, WOULD you guys want robotic umps?

I wouldn’t.

Drew says:

I would. Why wouldn’t you?

The human element does add something to it, I think.

Drew says:

True, I’d enjoy the consistency. I REALLY hate umpires.

Mike Pop says:

Would probably work both for and against you, just like they do now. One downfall is people lose jobs. America don’t need that now.

Shdw says:

Actually to make and maintain those robots would create more jobs than there are umpires

Mike Pop says:

I was wrong, and for this. I apologize.

But, what would Angel Hernandez and C.B. Buckner do?

Take my umpiring gigs in the Cal Ripken League.

Shdw says:

They can go do something they are actually good at

Riddering says:

Do the robotic umps have laser beams?

DGeezy says:

they better so they can defend themselves from milton bradley & carlos zambrano when they disagree with calls

As long as the laser beams are used to shoot those people who do the wave, yes.

handtius says:

sweet. I smirked.

No, I wouldn’t. But as I’ve said numerous times, there needs to be a strictly enforced, standardized strike zone.

JobaWockeeZ says:

I’d like 100 percent correct umpires, human or not. Now it will be impossible for every human ump to be 100 percent so I’d take anything that can give 100 percent.

handtius says:

what about ups that where special glasses that illuminate the strike zone and mark where a ball passes through it. You retain the human element, while getting 99.9% accuracy and create MORE jobs.

JobaWockeeZ says:

Anything that gives perfect to near perfect strike zones.

Ivan says:

Good job Aceves.

Cano with a four pitch walk. The Yanks are winning this game.

BklynJT says:

Cano get’s those 4 pitch walks. It’s the 2 strike walks that he doesn’t get.

Let’s go, Swish. Keep the line going.

Teix is the Man says:

swisher you are so fucking due

Dela G says:

LETS GO YANKEES!

Riddering says:

Swish wants to know where his three balls are.

Reilly says:

The YES crew keeps acting like Jr. isnt a Mariner anymore. Are they letting him go?

Well, they don’t come back to the Stadium the rest of the year and he will more than likely retire so…

DGeezy says:

no but i think it would be fair to assume this is his last go around, his hitting skills have greatly diminished that he really doesnt appear to be worth keeping past this year.

V says:

Again. He wasn’t a Mariner for, what, 8 years?

Eirias says:

We’re taking Aceves out for the 7th, right?

DGeezy says:

apparently not but Ace could use the work

yankees=warriors says:

Can Gardner pinch hit for Swish?

Dela G says:

WOW SWISHA…. REALLY???

Drew says:

It’s so hard for me to take Swish seriously with the mohawk.

Spaceman.Spiff says:

Who’s playing second base for us today? I’m pretty sure the second baseman we had never hit with runners on, never hustled tagging up on fly balls, and also never took walks. Weird.

Drew says:

I think his name is Rob Carson. A true American.

Spaceman.Spiff says:

Drew says:

It’s so nice not seeing Ace in the 4th/5th inning…

BklynJT says:

Damn it, I wants me some Hughes!

He can go 8 and hopefully 9.

zs190 says:

I hope not 9 (but that’s because I hope we have a lead then and can use Mo instead)

I hope he pitches the 8th, the Yankees score a ton of runs, make it like…11-6 and have Hughes pitch the ninth. He could use the work.

Drew says:

BklynJT says:

This umpire pisses me off

Dela G says:

wow where did that miss ump?

handtius says:

it missed up his pooper.

dkidd says:

best comment ever

handtius says:

do i get a statue, a memento, free movie tickets?

dkidd says:

the satisfaction of a job well done

handtius says:

Ugh. The wave in the 7th inning of a close game.

BklynJT says:

You gotta admit, they had a pretty decent wave going. I think it went around the stadium twice.

People who do the wave should be slapped repeatedly.

I’m dead. Seeing that wave killed me.

Spaceman.Spiff says:

setw

(Suzyn Enjoyed That Wave)

Teix is the Man says:

Yes! more Ben and Joe!
I keed, I keed

handtius says:

would a win resurrect you?

Shdw says:

Is it just me or has Ace been wild in the last couple days?

Dela G says:
Salty Buggah says:

eh, I dont know. He has seemed a bit wild but made his pitches when he had to.

BklynJT says:

Ace has been behind in the count a lot recently but always seemed to get the job done.

Salty Buggah says:

Drew says:

Wildly awesome? Yes.

Will (the other one) says:

BklynJT says:

He has, but he hasn’t given up the ball 4. And he’s been really good at painting corners.

Dela G says:

the wave is for little league teams

No, it’s not. It’s for no one. It should be banned from sports.

The Fallen Phoenix says:

Ace was so frustrated by the wave he just had to hit somebody.

Salty Buggah says:

They kept trying to do the wave the last time I was there, kids in my section kept trying to start it. It was pretty awful.

The Fallen Phoenix says:

There were a few people sitting directly in front of me who tried to do it last night; it didn’t pick up, but if it did, I probably would have thrown my book at them.

Orlando says:

don’t rub it!!!

Jamal G. says:

Thanks, Seattle.

Orlando says:

Jojhima was headed to the sushi bar!!!

Drew says:

Was that a balk? He like picked his leg up for a second.

That’s two baserunning fails by the M’s in two days.

Dela G says:

Salty Buggah says:

Orlando says:

good old Kate Smith!!!

Orlando says:

I love Kim Jones….

Drew says:
Salty Buggah says:
Drew says:

Ha nothin, after god bless America they showed NYPD.

Orlando says:

KIm Jones is HOT!!!

Charlie says:

no, unless your 30 years old or something

handtius says:

Jerk. You must be a young blood.

It’s really getting to the point where I don’t know if I hate God Bless America or Sweet Caroline more.

Riddering says:

I understand the indecision but the creepy love song to an underaged girl always takes the cake for me.

Charlie says:

come on offense. wake your asses up

Stolen from LoHud:

Montero has hit homers in each of his last 4 games played (5 total). 14 at bats, 6 runs scored, 8 hits, 1 double, 5 homers, 8 RBI, 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. He might get 1 more at bat.

Salty Buggah says:

Theif! Jesus will punish you by throwing you out.

John says:

Reggie C. says:

i think its safe to say that BA will award Jesus Montero the #1 spot on the upcoming HOT SHEET .

Will (the other one) says:

NOT stolen from LoHud: PeteAbe’s rugged, portly good looks.

Count your blessings, Becca!

Riddering says:

Johjima wanted to make up for getting on base.

Reggie C. says:

Romine is slugging .500 in Tampa after tonight’s HR and 2B output. The OBP is up to .315… I think Montero’s got a little competition tonight for best performance from a minor leaguer..

Orlando says:

Mark Lowe was brought in for some BP!!!

JobaWockeeZ says:

Matsui is done!!!!

yankees=warriors says:

Wow, good night for Matsui!

Worthless. Matsui’s absolutely worthless. DFA him for Shelley, like yesterday.

+55

Matsui is toast.

Drew says:

***Matsui is tempora’d.

Ace says:

I’ll eat crow on Matsui for these last few games. For the record, let it be known that I manned up and showed up here to give the credit and take a few lumps instead of cowering in my apartment in the corner, in the fetal position…shivering.

Drew says:

The latter would’ve been more enjoyable.

Orlando says:
Charlie says:

wtf are you doing? Do you only comment in 2-4 word sentences?

handtius says:

I max out at 5 words.

Drew says:
handtius says:

I thank you very much.

Salty Buggah says:

Oneill just said that the Mariners do not field the ball well. I’m pretty sure that is not true.

Well, they lead the league in errors, therefore, they must be bad fielders.

Seriously, though, their good defense is a byproduct of the now absent Beltre and their RIDICULOUS OF defense.

Drew says:

Too early for Melk, but his clutchness will overcome.

Drew says:

Dang, good wood on it Melk.

Charlie says:

SSSSSUUIIIIIIIIIIII

Teix is the Man says:

Time for some Melky magic!

Spaceman.Spiff says:

Who was it that wanted Shelley Duncan up as our DH instead of Matsui a couple days ago?

JobaWockeeZ says:

Started with an “A” I think.

Teix is the Man says:

asshole…oh, wait, AXL!

yankees=warriors says:

Please pinch hit for Cervelli.

Salty Buggah says:

Is Melky still trying to swing for the fences?

They are not PHing for Cervelli…Posada’s thumb in that bad of a way?

arlok789 says:

Should they have pinch hit here?

The problem is that if you PH for Cervelli JoPo has to catch and if JoPo’s thumb can’t catch, you can’t PH.

Ivan says:

WHY DO YOU DO THAT TO ME KAY!?

Salty Buggah says:

no pinch hit? we need a run here!

Salty Buggah says:

Jeter won’t come through here…

handtius says:

glad you had faith.

Salty Buggah says:

tried the reverse psychology but it didnt work (it worked 3 times a row last time tho)

So we’ll win it in the 9th. I’m cool with that.

Salty Buggah says:

man, we really needed that run. Leadoff double and no runs = ATROCIOUS!

yankees=warriors says:

Not the first time it’s happened.
Besides, they didn’t get to 3rd base, so it hurts less…

yankees=warriors says:

That rally ended in a hurry.

Ivan says:

Who pitches the 8th?

Phil better pitch 8/9. He needs the work.

Dela G says:

Stephen says:

Jeter is so unclutch

Orlando says:

ha ha ha…uh NO..next time you make a comment like that we’ll have to take you out back and shoot you!!!

Orlando says:

I really hate Jojhima!!!

Drew says:

Shoulda bunted!!!11!

DGeezy says:

im more upset at melky not being able to move matsui over to 3rd

Riddering says:

I think Cash and co. decided to cut Hughes innings limit in half in order to piss off the entire world.

Drew says:

an inning yesterday, an inning today. Whats the problem?

Drew says:

Oh wait, he only threw 9 pitches yesterday. Damnit Girardi, tell Hughes to throw more pitches next time you call on him.

yankees=warriors says:

Ivan says:

Aceves Another inning…

Drew says:

Eh, I just had flashbacks to Matsui’s broken hand dive.

Salty Buggah says:

Tex HAS to get a big hit in this game…he is so overdue

I’m pretty sure he was safe at second.

Teix is the Man says:

Dela G says:

VO says:

On the replay he looks safe.

Riddering says:

I didn’t see it from the other angle, but it looked like his foot didn’t hit the bag until after Robbie tagged him.

yankees=warriors says:

Is it just me or does it seem Damon’s arm has been improving?

Teix is the Man says:

handtius says:

Dela G says:

WOOOOO JOHNNY DAMON!

DGeezy says:

Riddering says:

Alright, now, after that inning we have to win.

DreDog says:

Ace is trying to get his ERA under 2.00.
That’s the magic number. Then we can ask KLaw about trading him for Mauer!

Will (the other one) says:

Nah, that deal would never, ever get done. Dude, one of those guys is a perennial all-star and probable future Hall-of-Famer…the other’s just Joe Mauer.

DreDog says:

You’re right. That deal only gets done if the Yankee front office people are Twins fans.

yankees=warriors says:

Do we really need anotehr catcher?
I think we need a good reliable reliever like Aceves more.

Jake H says:

WHile the M’s BP has been good. I have faith they can win this. the BP has been great.

Drew says:

I don’t understand this, do ya’ll want to win, or get everyone their necessary work? Why do so many complain when Girardi makes the “right” move?

Reilly says:

Gosh. Maybe some 9th inning magic?

Salty Buggah says:

It’s funny how no one from the MSM is praising our pen now but bashed at will before.

Pete says:

No, they’ll just wait for us to screw up again and pick up where they left off.

Orlando says:

Here we go COMEBACK!!!!!

Teix is the Man says:

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKK

Pete says:

Salty Buggah says:

Dear Tex,

Please get out of your slump soon!

handtius says:

I will.

Love,

Tex

Spaceman.Spiff says:

Walk for A-rod as usual?

Spaceman.Spiff says:

dkidd says:

yankees=warriors says:

I hate Michael Kay…

Spaceman.Spiff says:

Sterling called it the same way too.

Pete says:

It’s an A-BOMB from A- … uh, um… (silence)

Drew says:

…. I called a HR too, that one stung.

Teix is the Man says:

FUCK YOU KAY you annoying piece of shit

Jake H says:

Hard to win a game when your 2-4 hitters all go hit less.

handtius says:

no it’s not. Happens all the time.

handtius says:

I really thought that was out.

Salty Buggah says:

Uuuuuuuuuuuuugh I thought that was getting out.

Cokie says:

Arod: “I’m still rich biatch!”

LiveFromNewYork says:

and wid Kate Hudson.

Drew says:

I said it last night, I’ll say it again, that Lance Armstrong commercial is sooooooo legit.

Salty Buggah says:

who’s their closer?

Spaceman.Spiff says:

Drew says:

Cue angry b-hughsers

thebusiness says:

Ace after throwing 32 pitches and pitching last night?

Who killed Robertson?

Is Girardi just waiting til Saturday to get Hughes work so he can piggy back Wang?

Drew says:

lol Teix is having a not so nice night.

V says:

Teixeira NOT having a good defensive night.

yankees=warriors says:

Wow, really not Tex’s day, huh?

dkidd says:

Drew says:

Kay is soooo happy! FUCK YOU KAY

V says:

Ok, that’s the ballgame. I don’t see a 4 run comeback.

handtius says:

Teix is the Man says:

JobaWockeeZ says:

Big blow for Seattle Kay?

Will (the other one) says:

Ace really wants to put the sombrero on Russell Branyan here.

Will (the other one) says:

Well FAIL me. Sorry guys.

yankees=warriors says:

thebusiness says:

Girardi is so dumb.

Shdw says:

How is Girardi going to justify putting Ace out there for the 9th. He has other options…

V says:

I think it’s time to start the ‘Free David Robertson’ chants.

Salty Buggah says:

The Fallen Phoenix says:

I know someone’s going to say it’s retrospective, but really…pushing the envelope with Aceves here, much?

Shdw says:

Actually my post a couple above this was pre-homerun

Yeah, I thought so. But he was getting outs, tough call.

The Fallen Phoenix says:

It is a tough call, but I don’t think it’s crazy to bring Robertson in to start the 9th.

Moshe Mandel says:

Exactly. I didn’t love the move, but didn’t we have a whole post up here today about limiting the number of relievers you use? Ace was rolling.

DGeezy says:

Pete says:

Well, that was fun. Anything good on HBO tonight?

DreDog says:

that

blew

donkey

balls

Drew says:

CAN THEY TELL US WHO’S COMING IN? I am so fucking tired of YES.

Riddering says:

I just vomited in my mouth.

Orlando says:

Does Branyan think that he is Josh Hamilton or something?

Salty Buggah says:

should have taken him out dammit

He puts in Robertson? What the hell? This is a perfect Tomko situation.

Ivan says:

The yanks are still trying to win the game here.

Yeah, but, I think even Tomko can hold a four run deficit where it is.

Orlando says:

Kay stepping up with the Aceves pushing the limit comment…

Drew says:

I too was a little surprised that Ace came back out, but, maybe Joe has “Philly Rules.” I know D-Rob, Coke and Tomko are out there but I dunno.. I won’t go crazy on Joe for this one. Also, big Teix fucked up big in retrospect.

Salty Buggah says:

no sub 2.00 ERA for ace :(

BklynJT says:

Retarded. Girardi puts in Ace for 3+ innings but not Hughes. He really makes me rub my head sometimes

Drew says:

Is Phil allowed to pitch two days in a row? Oh, you don’t know do you?

yankees=warriors says:

Hughes didn’t pitch yesterday.

Drew says:
yankees=warriors says:

Nah, that wasn’t meant to rub you or anything.

Drew says:

Nah don’t worry, but I feel like an ass cuz this isn’t the only post I said that in.. My memory.. not like it used to be.. lol.

Orlando says:

Was that Aceves or the ghost of Veras?

captain crunch says:

oh well start a new streak tomorrow

Chris B says:

I can’t wait to hear the explanation he gives for leaving him in there.

Nice play by Cano.

thebusiness says:

“He’s been throwing the ball well for us”

Moshe Mandel says:

He was getting outs. That’s the explanation. I would have taken him out, but it is not the kind of decision that he has to answer for or something.

Salty Buggah says:

maybe we can put together a Sox-type rally

yankees=warriors says:

Wonder what the reaction of the customers in the bar was when the ball was coming toward them?

“Oh look, someone made a touchdown” is my guess, given the clientele.

V says:

It’s actually pretty cool in there, and I don’t believe you have to pay to stand.

Excluding tonight, Branyan hits a homer every 14.77 ABs.

handtius says:

wow. LD makes a ridiculous play.

Chris B says:

Robinson 1-2-3…

DGeezy says:

damn lots of hate for michael kay on here every night. have you guys heard other team’s play by play announcers?? theyre a combination of boring, mostly ignorant about the rest of the league & show little to no energy in calling the other team’s home runs…so little that if you were just listening to the game, you wouldnt even know the opposing team homered. i agree kay his flaws like calling every ball hit to the OF ‘hit deep’ but it could seriously be MUCH WORSE.

I agree with this. Kay is crappy but a lot of teams have just simply AWFUL announcers who are way more homer-inclined/stupid than Kay.

BigBlueAL says:

Yup. Having the package is probably the reason why I actually really like the YES announcers because I get to hear most of the crappy announcer around the country.

Bob Stone says:

I had the baseball package for two years while living in the Boston area. I agree completely. I was appalled at how terrible some of these other local/regional broadcasters were/are.

handtius says:

Agreed, I heard a Braves broadcast over a stream, while in Paris. They are so homer happy it’s ridiculous. The Yankees hit a homerun and one of them said “oh darn”.

Drew says:

I hate Kay… about 140 games per year, I’d rather someone else. I have heard some other announcers, what I feel about them holds little weight because, well, I don’t listen to them 140 per season.

V says:

I just prefer Singleton 100x more than Kay.

Singleton + Cone + Lorenz

The Fallen Phoenix says:

That would be an absolutely fantastic booth.

BklynJT says:

Wonder if MSM will bring up our bullpen tomorrow

BigBlueAL says:

Thats why Marte getting healthy and coming back would be a great bonus. A 2nd lefty wouldve been perfect tonight so Aceves didnt have to pitch the 9th with Ichiro and Branyan leading off the inning.

Chris B says:

Aceves didn’t have to pitch the 9th anyway tonight…

Are we going to get a little Hinske action tonight?

Teix is the Man says:

That sounds dirty

Salty Buggah says:

BigBlueAL says:

I would assume with 4 afternoon games in a row coming up he would start at least one of them probably at 3b no???? Or at the least to give Damon or Swisher a day off.

Drew says:

I see Hinske but read Heffer. And yes, heffer action will be in full effect in a couple of hours.

dkidd says:

Teix is the Man says:

This um is terrible…and water’s wet

Teix is the Man says:

This um is terrible…and water’s wet

dkidd says:

come on swish. keep the line moving

Chris B says:

Girardi is praying they don’t end up scoring just 2 runs.

Keep it rollin’, Hideki.

handtius says:

Asian Yellow Magic!!!

yankees=warriors says:

Teix is the Man says:

That was a ball to matsui

dkidd says:

king of queens to pinch hit?

dkidd says:

king of queens to pinch hit?

V says:

This umpire is beyond godawful.

handtius says:

I poop on this ump.

Phew. Second life there, Hideki. Take advantage.

Drew says:

fuckin crunchtime

Salty Buggah says:

Jerry Meals sucks

handtius says:

we are getting this one.

V says:

That was ball 4, but with this umpire, probably strike 3.

yankees=warriors says:

Melky magic again tonight?

handtius says:

+++++++++++111111111111

handtius says:
