Game 85 Spillover Thread

By

The bullpen is going to have to get 15 more outs. Maybe the Yanks should have used a stretched-out starter today. Or not David Robertson right there.

  1. A.D. says:

Just walking Tolbert to get to Mauer, textbook.

  2. Drew says:

For everyone complaining about the zone. They were not strikes.

  3. andrew says:

he walks 2 guys and then grounds out mauer. come on. thats baseball i guess.

  4. e mills says:

well that was brutal, but it could’ve been worse

  5. handtius says:

Gameday is off people. Robertson was all over the place.

  6. Zach says:

but wheres all the love for DRob’s 14 K9???

  7. ansky says:

well at least they didnt hit any of those pitches.

    oh wait…

  8. Salty Buggah says:

    phew

Look at everyone wanting to get rid of D-rob. He struggled today bit got squeezed low 5 times but has been great overall.

    • Drew says:

I’m not saying get rid of him. I’m saying he walks way to many people.

    • handtius says:

he wasn’t getting squeezed. they were low. The ump hasn’t called the low pitch all day.

      • Chris says:

Just because he hasn’t called it doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be called strikes. Like Wade Boggs said, “I’ve been learning the strike zone one way my entire life, why should I have to change just because one ump has a different opinion?”

      • KW says:

No, he was squeezed. You can define a strike zone by the book, or by the umpire’s book. If an ump decides a strike by the book isn’t a strike in his book, he’s squeezed. Balls 2, 3, 4 to Tolbert were all at least above the knees by 2 inches. You’re telling me there’s a recipe for success when the zone’s shortened by 5 inches? With the bases loaded? Don’t be asinine.

        • handtius says:

No, I’m telling you that i see, with my eyes, that the pitches were below the knees. Posada’s glove constantly darted downward, below the strike-zone.

          • AndrewYF says:

Cool. Actually reliable sources, like Pitch FX, showed they were in the strike zone.

Pitch/FX would have had Robertson absolutely painting the zone.

    • Zach says:

you cant be successful as a reliever with a 5.3 BB/9

  9. JobaWockeeZ says:

Fuck this ump. Hell eff every 2009 ump, I’ve never seen so many bad calls in a year. I’m acting irrational but damn.

  10. Jim says:

    SEND DOWN ROBERTSON
    CALL UP KRON-A-KEY

  11. KW says:

Gameday is not off at all. he’s not locating like he’s mariano, but those were fuckin strikes to any one else. The ump hasn’t squeezed liriano close to what he’s doing with robertson

    • Drew says:

      I completely disagree.

      • KW says:

        got a reason why?

        • Drew says:

Because they were not strikes. I’m not watching gameday, I’m watching on YES. The ump has had a tight zone all day. I can’t complain when the zone is consistent. D-rob just couldn’t throw the ball in the zone.

          • KW says:

Guess what buddy, I’m watching both. Did you ever think the camera on the metrodome might be a little different than any other stadium? Those were strikes to me on the TV and they were COMPLETELY strikes on gameday.

And yes, you can complain when the umpire is not following the rules of baseball and judging a strike to be between the letters and the knees and on both sides of the plate. If he calls a pitch low that’s 2 inches above the knees, he’s a BAD UMPIRE.

          • Chris says:

If the zone is wrong, it’s wrong.

It’s less frustrating if the ump is consistent, but it’s still wrong.

        • handtius says:

Because we are watching the game and you can see that the pitches were low. if gameday is having them down the middle, it’s wrong. And, no, no one was getting that call, because it wasn’t a strike.

  12. Shdwrptr says:

To anyone who thinks you can’t blame Robertson, you’re dead wrong. Yes we all know those were strikes but the umpire had been calling them balls all day and if he didn’t call the first 2 pitches strikes in the area, Robertson should have sucked it up and stopped trying to get strikes in the area. He was the one who made the decision to keep throwing it in that area, therefore it was his fault.

    • Chris says:

He wasn’t getting the high strikes or the low strikes. So basically, you’re arguing that he should have thrown a 91MPH fast ball down the middle? That’s a recipe for a grand slam.

  13. Bogart says:

Sterling suggested walking Mauer to limit the damage he could do…

  14. Jared says:

Personally i thought they were going to go to Mitre for todays start…they should have skipped his start from a few days ago and game him a bullpen and brought up to the biggs…although this is only 1 start because we have SOOO much time until this next start is needed, all yankee fans would still like this win. Big day for the yankee pen and it looks like “the big tub of goo” will take part in that.

  15. JohnnyC says:

Plus, you’re asking a lot of any reliever, much less a rookie, to get out of bases-loaded situation with only 1 out.

  16. Jim says:

Swisher has got to go !!!!

  17. Johnny says:

Well, the decision to start Aceves today was the absolute wrong one. Can’t use him for the first 2 games in LA as well.

100% miscalculation by Girardi and/or Cashman.

Hindsight is 20/20 though… Play on!

    • Chris says:

What was the right decision? Mitre could have thrown more pitches, but I don’t know that the results would have been any better.

      • Johnny says:

        You’re right… We’ll never know.

The only loss is Aceves’ stellar relief for the first games in LA.

    • Moshe Mandel says:

If Mitre started, the odds are decent that Aceves would’ve gone two innings regardless.

  18. Drew says:

    Gonezo!!

  19. A.D. says:

    There’s the power stroke

  20. JobaWockeeZ says:

    Teix!!!!

  21. handtius says:

    The Drought is OVA!!111!!!!

  22. Jim says:

    ITS ABOUT TIME GOD DAMMIT

  23. Umps Suck says:

Is there a way we can see all the strikes and balls called between both teams, cause every game so far… twins are getting high strike calls… Damon… called out on strikes in the first game with one by his neck… i wanna see a chart of the strikes and balls called for each pitcher/team… anyone know if there’s one made after games?

  24. Zach says:

but he cant hit HR right handed!

  25. Salty Buggah says:

    Ah Tex HR

  26. Jim says:

Mr. LETS TAKE A LOOK AT TWO PERFECT STRIKES TO GET INTO A HOLE – ROD IS UP

  27. Frank says:

In fairness to Robertson, he did have to come in with the bases loaded after Aceves once again melted down when given a 3 run lead.

  28. Via Brooks Baseball, Robertson was getting squeezed:

    http://tinyurl.com/lud6gb

  29. Jim says:

That was a great, well-fought at bat by Posada. Thats the problem with this team…they score one run then they sit back and relax for the rest of the game. Softies arent goin anywhere this year

  30. JohnnyC says:

That wouldn’t have gotten out of Yosemite East, Citifield. How many times will Gary Cohen have to say “not many homers to the opposite field here” before he realizes he’s said that every time an opposing player does it…just like Manny last night.

  31. Frank says:

Swisher needs a couple of days off- his swing looks slow.

  32. Umps Suck says:

Graphs show robertson was definitely throwing strikes, umpire just sucks.

  33. lily says:

the yankees had something good going with the bull penn, i don’t understand y they have to screw around with it. and why does a manager have to let it be known the pitcher is on a pitch count, the hitters will just grind it out to get to the penn.

they should have called up mitre or something , but thats the yankees for u

    • Jim says:

Mitre pitched pretty well 2 days ago, so he prob couldve pitched decently today…

i’d say towers maybe b/c he had a good start last time out but he rarely reaches 88 mph and most of his outs are like fly out to the warning track so that may have not been a good idea

    • Jackson says:

I know right, it’s pretty obvious that the bullpen is in total shambles after 4 innings of a game they’re winning. But what else would you expect from the hapless Yankees.

    • Chris says:

Every pitcher is on a pitch count. The only question is whether it’s 65, 100 or 120. You should always try to work the count and drive the pitcher from the game.

  34. Jim says:

DOES ANYONE HERE CARE THAT MY BOY ZACH KRONKEYS IS 12-0 IN HIS LAST 12 DECISIONS?!!?!?!

  35. David Cone definitely went to the George Costanza school of architecture.

  36. Zach says:

did he just walk another batter?

  37. Drew says:

They were all strikes!! Fire teh ump!! David Robertson doesn’t walk people, umps walk people!

  38. Umps Suck says:

i wouldn’t have called up albaladejo… thats for sure. IGAWA!!!!

  39. y says:

    too many walks…

  40. lily says:

robertson is good but walks to many. albaladegjo tomko and bruney are they ones i don’t want to see and albaladejo is coming in.

  41. Jim says:

    fat boy’s pitchin

  42. Cecilio Guante's number 1 fan says:

    Robertson fears strikes

  43. Jim says:

Did Robertson even walk that many in the minors?? I thought he had pretty good control.

  44. Jim says:

what the fuck was that a gyro ball?

  45. Joe R says:

Im surprised Girardi didnt go to Alby with the bases loaded. He gets alot of GB’s.

  46. Tank Foster says:

    ALBALA – DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY – HO

  47. There are no words for this.

  48. JobaWockeeZ says:

    Bullpen is feeling Aprilish today.

  49. Salty Buggah says:

I wonder how fast Alex could throw…you think he could hit 95-97 if he tried?

  50. Will says:

I hate how Gameday says “runner going” on foul balls with 3-2 counts and 2 outs.

  51. Bo says:

They aren’t getting squeezed. They just dont throw any strikes. Robertson is afraid of contact.

    • Chris says:

Ahhh… where have you been Bo? We missed your negativity!

      • JobaWockeeZ says:

Well we have been winning lately.

        • Bo says:

It’s being negative pointing out the obvious? That Robertson is afraid to pitch to contact.

Got to love the homers like JobaWack here. He also thinks Joba has pitched tremendous lately.

          • Jackson says:

See what you always call pointing out the obvious we call incorrect analysis. Because it’s incorrect analysis.

          • Tom Zig says:

Joe Girardi thinks you should be fired from your job.

          • JobaWockeeZ says:

Ahh senseless Bo again making things in his head.
One Joba isn’t my favorite Yankee. And two I never said he pitched well. Please really stop making up things its terribly annoying because most of the time you have no idea what you are talking about. If anyone is a homer that would be you. Irony much?

            • Jackson says:

How can he be a homer, he appears to hate everything about the Yankees.

              • JobaWockeeZ says:

Well in slang terms a homer simply put is a moron.
Bo think he’s smart but in the end is just a troll and most likely a Yankee hating Red Sox or some other team fan. I doubt he knows much about the Yankees just when they are losing.

          • handtius says:

How come you never point out positive observations? It’s always, this guy doesn’t throw strike, that guy doesn’t throw strike. he always strike out…Why not.. he’s been hot lately. He’s hit a homer 4 games in a row. CC is throwing great. only given up one hit!!!

            Those are observations too.

    • Johnny says:

I wish they would get squeezed on Mauer and Morneau… NOOoooo… They get squeezed on the garbage that surrounds them.

    • handtius says:

It’s called losing the strike zone, not being afraid of contact.

  52. Bryan V says:

Watching your relievers walk batters is bad enough. But this has been ridiculous.

  53. Tom Zig says:

    way to go Johnny Alphabet

  54. y says:

    melky can probably pitch…

  55. Bryan V says:

is it MLB.tv, or is the sound off on YES?

  56. Salty Buggah says:

Strike 2 to Cano was outside…but he swings at ball 4 anyway

    • lily says:

thats just cano, very frustrating who knows how it would have played out but we could’ve had runeers on 2nd 3rd no out

    • Bo says:

      And this shocks you somehow???

Have you not seen Cano the past 4 yrs?

Netx thing you know you will say that Ransom cant hit or field.

      • Salty Buggah says:

Did I say that it shocks? no

It just bothers me that’s all

        • JobaWockeeZ says:

It’s Bo. He thinks every Yankee sucks and he thinks he’s always right. It’s best to try and ignore him. However hard that may be.

  57. Jackson says:

Runner in score postion for our big run producers Ransom and Gardner, I like it.

  58. charlespoet says:

Mark Feinsand made a comment that since the Yankees used a relief pitcher to start, are they saying they have no faith in their pitchers in Scranton?

    Does make you wonder.

    • Bryan V says:

Or do they like their staff to much to send somebody down…burning an option?

      • cult of basebaal says:

You only use 1 option per year.

Robertson or Albaladejo can be sent down with no effect on the number of options they have left.

The only thing the Yankees would have to consider is the 10 day non-injury turn around time on whoever was sent down.

    • Drew says:

No, they are saying that Alf was the best option.

    • Bo says:

Did anyone here want to see Igawa today?

I’ll venture a guess and say no.

But I’d be shocked if Mitre isn’t starting after the break while Wang rehabs.

  59. I Remember Celerino Sanchez says:

Listening to Sterling and Waldman is utter torture. It’s bad enough I have to work during the game, but I don’t need Sterling botching half the calls.

  60. Edwar's Chimney Sweep says:

R.A. Dickey – dirtiest scoundrel in history…look at that gay ass hobo beard…loser

  61. lily says:

i’ve never been a fan of ransom, yea he drove in a run (its about time) but can’t they release him and called up pena again

    • Edwar's Chimney Sweep says:

I wish they could, but they really want him starting down there…Does anyone know if Russo can play third?

    • Drew says:

Yes, if you ask nicely. Call up Cashmoney and just ask. I’m sure he will value your advice.

  62. Bryan V says:

If Gardner hits the ball well, it will be luck. He looks lost.

  63. Bryan V says:

I think the Hinske signing pretty much seals Pena’s fate…he’s staying in AAA (barring injuries to Ransom and/or Hinske).

  64. Salty Buggah says:

On the ESPN BBTN Page: “The rise of David Price has hit a speed bump. Steve Phillips says the solution is rather simple: The lefty needs to start throwing more strikes.”

Don’t you think if he could, he would throw strikes? It’s not that he doesn’t want, it’s that he has control problems and just can’t. Phillips probably thinks he is a genius now.

  65. Dexception32 says:

Waaah….I’m so sick of the Sterling/Waldman Bashing, it might take a tiny bit longer, but you get the correct call eventually, and a super detailed breakdown as result of the intial indecision. I listen to away radio at least a couple of innings every game with this iphone At Bat thing, and what they lack in instant accuracy they more than make up for in enthusiasm and entertainment value in comparison…

    • Klemy says:

“Rogah Clemens is in George Steinbrenna’s box!” Pffft. I’d be happy if I never heard her voice again.

  66. Bo says:

Why not start Hinske over Ransom? Hinske cannot be any worse with the glove than Ransom.

    • Little Bill says:

Once you see Hinske play 3rd you’ll probably change your mind. With the lefty starting for the Twins today, Ransom was the right choice.

      • Klemy says:

I don’t know. We’ve seen him play 3rd before, because he’s been in our division. I still hate Cody Ransom with a passion.

    • whozat says:

He can be, actually. His range and reaction time…not great.

    • King of Fruitless Hypotheticals says:

…didn’t i read he sux against lefties, and then somebody else posted his splits, and he really did suck against lefties?

  67. Bryan V says:

    Coke-Bruney-Hughes? Mo rest today.

  68. Drew says:

MLBTR saying the Yanks only have one player in BA’s top 50. I guess Austin Jackson is too flashy to be considered a Yankee.

  69. Bryan V says:

Yeah! Walk a guy batting under .200. Sweet!

  70. Dexception32 says:

Not to mention they are almost an exact sounding board for most of the posters here. They heart Swisher, love Gardner, think Joba should start, constantly affirm the Santana no trade, cite metrics, recognize trends like improved bullpen, and usually are against bunting.

  71. whozat says:

Why are they afraid to pitch to Matt Tolbert?

    • Bryan V says:

like me, they laugh everytime they see him thinking of that seen in Major League when Jake Taylor answers the phone and thinks a guy named Tolbert is playing a joke on him about playing for the Indians.

  72. e mills says:

are they going to have to call up some bullpen help for tomorrow?

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

Probably. Joba is pitching so they’ll probably call someone up.

    • Little Bill says:

Probably not. Joba’s going to have to give us some length though. If Hughes doesn’t pitch today, he’ll be available. Robertson, Tomko, Bruney might have to be used tomorrow.

      • whozat says:

They still have nine outs to get, and they’ll have between 9 and 12 to get tomorrow…I figure they’ll swap someone like Alby or Robertson for Edwar or Melancon.

        • King of Fruitless Hypotheticals says:

          edwar?!

          • whozat says:

I’m not necessarily advocating, I’m just saying that’s something they might do if they decide they need more arms

        • Little Bill says:

I think they’ll use Coke, Bruney, and Mo to get those outs. Coke next inning vs. M&M. Then Bruney for the 8th and Mo for the 9th. Bruney didn’t pitch yesterday and Mo threw 11 pitches. Robertson and Bruney could go 1 tomorrow and if Hughes isn’t used today he could go 2 and Tomko can give multiple innings as well. No help is needed.

  73. Chris says:

Reading through the comments today, you would think the Yankees are losing.

    • Little Bill says:

Meh. Just the typical overreactions during a game. D-Rob walked 2 straight and had to face Mauer with the bases loaded. Ransom made an error and everyone jumped on him. And one guy doesn’t understand Swish has a pretty good OPS.

    • Drew says:

      the trolls are out

    • Bryan V says:

      Happens every day/night

      • JobaWockeeZ says:

Usually when the Yankees are winning the threads are nice. Today not so much.

      • Chris says:

I can understand being frustrated if the Yankees are losing, but the Yankees have the 3rd best record in baseball (1 game back from the best record in the AL), they’ve won 5 of their last 6, and they’re winning today.

    • handtius says:

it seems all the more normal now. you wouldn’t know they were on pace to sweep their second series and one game behind the rs. I thought winning brewed confidence?

  74. lily says:

phil coke again???? hasn’t girardi learned that these lefties actually hit coke?

  75. Drew says:

    That’s not fair.

  76. Bryan V says:

why didn’t Cody just pick that up? It wasn’t going foul.

    • Drew says:

Eh, wasn’t gonna get Mauer either, might as well let it roll.

      • Bryan V says:

I’m not talking about making a play. I’m thinking just pick the ball up, so that he didn’t have to run after it when it rolled by 3B.

Not a big deal. Just felt like joining the “Let’s bash Cody” party.

  77. King of Fruitless Hypotheticals says:

was Ace looking better or worse than his line suggests? who’s in line for the win now, alber-la-dingo?

if anyone remembers, why did Philly get pulled last night in the late 8th? he gave up the hit, and with the winning run at the plate JoeG had a mild coronary?

  78. handtius says:

    what a gift by mauer!

  79. Bryan V says:

    Wow. Nice work by Coke.

  80. LiveFromNewYork says:

Getting here late…how did Ace do???

  81. Jackson says:

Kubel is astonishingly bad against lefties.

  82. handtius says:

I like Joe Girardi, but I’m tired of these match-ups he keeps playing. Coke has proved he can get out both L and R and Hughes ends up pitching to one batter or 4, instead of 2 innings, which he should be doing.

    • Little Bill says:

I don’t understand this move either. Coke threw 5 pitches. Give him a shot go get this batter out and if he doesn’t, then bring in Hughes.

    • Bryan V says:

It does keep everybody fresh, so they don’t have to sit out as many games. But I do agree it does get tiresome.

    • Chris says:

      Cuddyer OPS vs Lefties: .985
      Cuddyer OPS vs Righties: .827

Not Kubel-esque, but still a discernible split.

    • Moshe Mandel says:

Totally disagree. The game is not about getting Phil innings. Cuddyer can hit the ball out the ballpark, especially against a lefty who throws a slider. Girardi gives them a better chance to win the game with these moves, as Hughes is more likely to get the righty.

      • handtius says:

I think he can hit the ball out against either L or R. By making a pitching change, you take the chance that some one has an off day and may throw a cookie or can’t control the zone.

        • Moshe Mandel says:

Except that Hughes was going to come in the next inning anyhow, so Joe didn’t bring in an extra reliever that might have an off day. So the choice was really between Hughes and Coke for that one extra batter. A right batter with better power against lefties up, I choose Hughes.

          • handtius says:

And what happens when we have a long half an inning with him on the bench and his arm tires and then becomes wild. We saw it happen to Ace earlier in the game (even though he started). Then we do have to bring in another reliever.

  83. AsianShuutoHeat says:

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again…Ransom has got to go. I know the Yankees want to mold Pena into a super utility. But watching Ransom is just excruciating. WHOEVER thinks Ransom is an upgrade over Pena is out of their goddarn mind….

    • Little Bill says:

Offensively he is an upgrade over Pena. Defensively he is an upgrade over Hinske. Pena, like Cervelli, needs to develop more and play everyday.

    • handtius says:

relax may man. He plays maybe once a week. And no one said he was better.

  84. e mills says:

when will Hughes be able to goto arbitration?

  85. Drew says:

    JOPO!!!!

  86. dkidd says:

    great great throw by jorge

  87. Jorge can’t block balls or throw runners out. He’s awful.

  88. Bryan V says:

    What a throw by Jorge!

  89. Ivan says:

    Good job Posada.

  90. Salty Buggah says:

    But he sucks at defense!!

  91. Nate says:

What the heck does “runner’s fielder’s choice” mean?

  92. Molina Likes Tacos says:

One nice throw and he’s safe for three more years!!!

  93. Chris says:

I love that Gameday can’t figure out what to call RA Dickey’s knuckleballs.

  94. Salty Buggah says:

a run here would be nice (dont GIDP JoPo)

  95. Drew says:

I wonder if Al will ever be 100% this year. I can’t wait till he can start swiping bags again.

  96. e mills says:

Wakefield is gonna cost the AL the All-Star game this year. You heard it here first ;)

  97. LiveFromNewYork says:

We should have a “Save the Big Two (from the Bullpen)” tee shirt.

  98. LETS GO BOSTON says:

WS !!! LOL !!!! MAYBE U SHULD TRY BEETIN US B4 U TALK BOUTS WORLD SERIES !!!! HAVE U GOTTEN A HIT OFF OUR BULLPEN YET?! DONT THINK SO! U CANT EVEN HIT RA DICKEY OR JOSE MIJARES LMAOOOOOOOOOOO LETS GO BoSOX

  99. dkidd says:

    el guapo

sox media guide listed his weight as 220 and some teammate said “that’s his birth weight”

  100. Bryan V says:

Hughes looks so calm and confident.

  101. Salty Buggah says:

    Hughes!

  102. AndrewYF says:

    Phil-thy

Is it okay to say phil-thy?

  103. Bryan V says:

In Yankee land, we have keyboards where you can turn off Caps Lock.

  104. Dorian says:

Maybe they should tell the hitters what’s coming before Phil throws it. It would give them a better chance.

  105. Frank says:

I guess Bruney has really fallen down the pecking order.

  106. BigBlueAL says:

Gutsy move by Girardi letting Hughes stay in there and face the dangerous Jose Morales.

  107. Observer283 says:

I am honestly not as happy about Phil’s dominance as I know I should be. He was really picking it up as a starter (Texas outing was dominant) right before he got sent to the bullpen. A major reason was he really started to develop his cutter. That cutter would be the elusive third pitch that would help be a very good/great starter.

Now, we have an entire season where he will have no need to use that cutter. (I’m not sure if he has been using the cutter, but from the naked eye, he seems to be going with 96 MPH fastballs on the black and the curve and good night nurse).

Moreover, we are setting up another strong confirmation bias issue here where there will be a lot resistance to putting him back in the starting rotation next year.

Big time starting pitching prospects with three pitches don’t grow on trees. They should be given every opportunity to start before relegated to three batters at a time duty. I just hope the Yankees will not be seduced his “EIGHTH INNING” success. Mark Feinsand recently blogged that some in the organization are starting to view him as a potential heir to Mo.

    It’s like Ground Hog day.

    • Dorian says:

Who would you have preferred to to take out of the rotation?

      • handtius says:

Ace, then send him to the minors to get his inning totals up for next year. bring up Melancon.

      • Observer283 says:

I personally think they should have sent him back to AAA after they called Wang up. He should be groomed to be a front end starter, not a set-up man. Plus, if they had done that, he would have been ready to start the game today and fill in for the now injured Wang.

Look, I am loving watching him dominate right now, but I just hope that they remember Phil Hughes is a STARTIN’ PITCHAAAH!!!!

    • Salty Buggah says:

      NO…the Yankees aren’t stupid, I hope….

They must put him back in the rotation. Those who think that must some of those dumb executives.

    • Mark Feinsand recently blogged that some in the organization are starting to view him as a potential heir to Mo.

      Ugh.

      • Tom Zig says:

If both Dellin Betances and Andrew Brackman reach their ceilings, then sure stick Hughes in the pen.

        • Charlie says:

if that ever happens, it won’t be for a few years, so that doesn’t really factor into the decision making here

    • Bob Stone says:

Despite what Feinsand says, and I respect him, I cannot believe the Yankee brass is looking at Hughes as Mo’s replacement unless there is some health issue we don’t know about (as was the case with Jon Papelschmuck in Boston).

    • Charlie says:

agreed, i’m worried they’ll never have him start again this year.. that would suck.. a lot for his developent and for this team’s success

  108. Dorian says:

The Yankees will be 17 games over after today. Its a Wonderful Life.

  109. Marc says:

    Is God available today?

  110. Drew says:

    Aww, no soup for Swish.

  111. dkidd says:

    1-2-3 inning please

  112. YankeeScribe says:

Nick Swisher is still the best .239 hitter in baseball

  113. King of Fruitless Hypotheticals says:

gg Jetes…up by 2, 9th, work a nearly double-digit pitch at bat for a walk to screw them out of one more pitcher!

i really would like to know the win/loss % of teams the game immediately following a Yankee series vs their % for the year…since I don’t think anybody will look it up right now, i’m going to say its 5.7% more losses than the rest of their year, PROOF POSTIVE that the Yanks tear up bullpens!

  114. Bob Stone says:

To this point you have to give credit to the bullpen and perhaps how Girardi has used them. 4 innings, 1 hit, no runs to get to Mo.

  115. dkidd says:

    lefties have no chance. none

  116. dkidd says:

okay. mauer might have a small chance

  117. Bob Stone says:

    Mauer vs God scares me

  118. Tom Zig says:

The match up of the century

    Mo vs Mauer

  119. handtius says:

And Mo turns a hero into a mortal once again.

  120. Drew says:

Cody Ransom’s 2 RBI’s are the difference in this game.

    THAT.JUST.HAPPENED.

  121. Salty Buggah says:

    MO! WIN! SWEEP!

  122. Jake says:

    Hand me yonder broom.

  123. Dan says:

    Mo-tastic.

  124. Bob Stone says:

    Great job Mo

  125. Has Mo always done that touch second base thing?

  126. dkidd says:

    i’m ashamed for doubting mo.

awesome series. let’s finish strong against mike “smug smirk” scioscia

  127. e mills says:

Tex looks great in Yankee apparrel….no homo

  128. Salty Buggah says:

    Break the brooms out

  129. Little Bill says:

Excellent job by the bullpen. Robertson walked 2 which drove in 2 runs but it looked like he got screwed a little with the strike zone. Coke, Alby, Hughes, and Mo were all amazing. I hope Joba can give some length tomorrow.

  130. Bob Stone says:

Now the Yanks just have to figure out how to break out the brooms against the BoSox to take the season series 10-8

  131. Joe says:

bullpen looks great. imagine if they get bruney going…

  132. YankeeScribe says:

The Yanks eat little shits like the Twinkees for breakfast

  133. kimonizer says:

Mo is sick to watch on Gameday. Every pitch ever so gently touching the strike zone. Ridiculous control. Just ridiculous.

  134. Dorian says:

17 over and now the Angels. I love it. It’s time to let them know that this is a different team. The Angels were playing very well before the Rangers series and I wanna pound them. I would really like a sweep but I’ll settle for two out of three.

BTW What are the pitching matchups? C.C, Andy, Joba?

  135. Drew says:

Go Kansas City!! Farnsy FTW! I’m breaking out the Royals hat tonight.

  136. Bob Stone says:

The Yanks are finally at .600 winning percentage. That’s on a pace for 97 wins. Let’s cheer them on to .625 so they can blow the BoSox away! What do the naysayers have to respond to that?

  137. Soriano~40~40 says:

Hahah thats funny. The only non yankee hat i have is a black/royal blue KC hat.. I’ll join you guys on that

  138. Tom Zig says:

Boston doesn’t play today…Only a half game out of first!

  139. Craig says:

Robertson did everything he could to blow it. And in turn he punched his ticket to Scranton when Mitre comes up.

  140. matt merc says:

i cant stand watching swisher any more he sucks so much
