TOmmy says:

Awful decision to spot start Al… that decsion cost them this series…

A.D. says:

So far the starting pitching as cost them.

Salty Buggah says:

no way, this is all up to the starters. The bullpen shouldn’t have to work so much, it only exposes them

Dela G says:

A.D. says:

Makes you wonder where this team would be without AJ Burnett.

Little Bill says:

Agree 100%. It was a great signing. The rotation looked so promising at the start of the year too. Andy has been like this all year, but it’s Joba and Wang who are most frustrating.

Pete A. says:

Ease up on Andy guys. He’s a proven winner and a clutch pitcher. Speaking of unclutch, how about A-Roid injecting himself into the top 10 HR club? Jobber Chamberlain is so boring and today’s loss is all his fault. The Yankees obviously went to break early, they quit today. Still love Andy though.

Little Bill, knocking it off with the name changes.

Little Bill says:

lol, sorry. I’ll stop now. I couldn’t help myself.

Zach says:

he always limits damage, joba should shut up and watch andy

j says:

ill ease on up andy till he delivers some consistent results. a 6 spot in less than 5 innings? cmon.

Zach says:

his post was sarcasm, making fun of peteabe

trueblue says:

Andy has dropped two big turds this week alone.

UGH says:

Yanks are streaky this year, frustrating to root for any streaky team

Salty Buggah says:

Well, D-rod’s ERA now (3.27) is close to his FIP (3.47)

YankeeScribe says:

Another day another passed ball for Posada

Riddering says:

Drew says:

Wow D-Rob, really? That far from the plate?

UGH says:

I did not like brining Andy back, I would have rather seen them go in another direction, he was done last year

Dude, we warned you about changing your name before. Yet you did it again.

Zach says:

what other direction? sign cc, aj and lowe? or wait ben sheets right?

UGH says:

I would have rather seen them start Hughes or Aceves from day 1 as the fifth starter, as the Angels score again on a triple for Aybar

Zach says:

CC, AJ, Wang, Joba, Hughes

when we lost Wang, Andy was real valuable. he still is as a back of the rotation starter

DCR says:

Its just frustrating to see the Yankees play so well, come into Anaheim and bend over. Saunders had been struggling, they historically hit Weaver well, and Lackey has been hit or miss this year. Throw in not having two of their big bats on the DL, this is a great situation for the Yankees. Instead Joba and Pettitte both take it on the chin and the Yankees have to expose the weak portion of their bullpen because Aceves made a spot start.

A.D. says:

I mean there really wasn’t “another” direction. The other options would have been within, or some other okay vet coming in to start. And thus a similar result.

James Auchincloss says:

randy wolf signed for $500,000 less than pettitte and has been better across the board
of course he is randy wolf

Zach says:

a career NL pitcer with a career ERA+ of 102

A.D. says:

He’s not really a different direction, he’s still a veteran lefty, yes he’s had better results this year, in the NL, where he’s played his whole career. But its the same type of player.

dkidd says:

one of those days is turning into one of those series

Dorian says:

PUT YOUR SHIN GUARDS IN THE DIRT POSADA CHRIST

UGH says:

Hughes has to be in the rotation, no other way

Drew says:

How can anyone blame Posada for that?

bxpd says:

Don’t know if it would have made a difference, but you don’t ever try to backhand anything offspeed that’s thrown in front of you. If you’re a catcher and call for anything offspeed, you almost have to anticipate it’s going in the dirt so that you can block the ball with your chest. It’s supposed to be textbook catching. Again, don’t know if it would have made a difference, but it is frustrating to watch Posada attempt to backhand those offspeed pitches.

It’s something about Anaheim.

I can’t actually remember watching the team win there.

UGH says:

I live in So Cal, you are right, I avoid the place because the Yanks play awful there and So Cal fans are idiots

Little Bill says:

I can’t either. They’ve destroyed us in the regular season and playoffs. And I hate the credit Scocia gets for playing “small ball.” What a joke.

Dorian says:

I swear all of these guys are average hitters against other teams. Against the yankees they are like the All Century team.

Salty Buggah says:

man, posada throwing high each time.

Luis Polonia says:

What a nightmare.

Salty Buggah says:

Fuckin Aybar had to get all hot!

Riddering says:

With the way this game is going, I have a feeling that we might see Swisher on the mound before the game is over.

DGeezy says:

this is sickening

YankeeScribe says:

The Angels are showing the Red Sox the proper way to own the Yankees

DP says:

Huh? 8-0 isn’t proper enough?

Dorian says:

In other news A-Jax is on another tear. He’s 3-3 today

bonestock94 says:

I’m gonna go against the consensus here and say that NO real changes need to be made to the team because of a couple of crappy outings.

UGH says:

Team needs at least two starters and a pen arm

V says:

This blog needs you to be banned.

DP says:
UGH says:

Fuck both of you, it’s America

UGH says:

The team needs two starters and an arm in the pen, they will address both is my guess.

Salty Buggah says:

that should be enough to get you banned

No, fuck you, we told you to stop changing your name, and you did anyway.

UGH says:

Like I said, it’s America, there are no rules or laws that prohibit me, so that’s the real Fuck You

Rick in Boston says:

uhm, but there are rules for commenting.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

Little Bill says:

You’ve said this 4 times today, TJ or tom or whoever you are. I agree about the pen arm. Starters are going to remain the same unless there’s an injury.

UGH says:

You own the team now, pull the strings do you, news to me!

DP says:

Go fuck yourself.

Unacceptable. Even though I don’t like the guy, it doesn’t give you the right to be nasty to him.

UGH says:

If you can’t stand other opinions that’s your problem. The team won’t listen to waht we want anyway, they will do what they think is right, MY GUESS IS they add a Starter and a pen arm.

James Auchincloss says:

roy halladay and cliff lee are two names that come to mind

BigBlueAL says:

Gonna be interesting to see how the pitching staff will look like come Friday.

Luis Polonia says:

We have one of the best offenses in baseball and we’ll be facing one of the worst bullpens in baseball next inning.

But does anybody honestly believe we have any shot to come back? Games against in the Angels in Anaheim are slowly reaching Red Sox frustration levels.

j says:

gg. have a nice day yankee fans!

UGH says:

I had tickets to this game and sold them, smart move for me

Nikhil R. says:

Texas, please win the AL West.

Salty Buggah says:

miketotheg says:

A.D. says:

Despite all this, Yankees probably will bring the tying run to the plate in this game.

UGH says:

True, but in Anaheim they never come through, I end up leaving there pissed so I don’t go anymore

John Duci says:

I havent been watching but I heard the Yanks were winning 4-0 again and blew the lead. Thats dissapointing.

UGH says:

Halladay, we give them Hughes and a couple prospects, maybe include Melky and agree to take Vernon Wells’s contract

Little Bill says:

Ugh, just please go away.

Drew says:

100+ mil for a bad player ftw!!! Give em Igawa and Russo!

DP says:

Please ban this person

A.D. says:

Pretty much been said that the Jays don’t want to package that contract.

The Jays want prospects for Halladay, not a way to get salary relief, the whole point of getting rid of the Wells contract would be to sign Halladay.

Dorian says:

Yes Thank You for winning the “Irrational over the top solution to a one game losing streak award.”

Dorian says:

Man Fuck this noise. Harry Potter is on im out.

bonestock94 says:

I think the real problem here is Hank Steinbrenner. Fire his ass!!

mike says:

its almost unwatchable when the Yanks go to Anaheim – everyone has fallen apart in that place since i can remember.

it just is a house of horrors – like the Kingdome used to be – for the Yanks and it almost needs to be written off as a lost series if the Yanks go there.

lets just hope the Sox get them in the playoffs so the Yanks only have to beat one of them

Salty Buggah says:

wow, the trolls have arrived, i should probably go

Little Bill says:

It’s just the same guy changing his name. Hopefully he’s gone soon.

TOmmy says:

Alright Yanks… shake it off… Darren Oliver is in… time for a rally!!!

Rick in Boston says:

Yeah, this sucks, but you guys sound like the world is ending.

Salty Buggah says:

exactly what I said, it’s ridiculous

Little Bill says:

Nah. We’ve always struggled in Anaheim. Jobber and Andy have been struggling lately. Hopefully CC can pick us up tomorrow.

Dorian says:

2 runs in this inning to keep this serious.

Dorian says:

TOmmy says:

One hit at a time… lets get some positive vibes going on here… this place is so negative right now

Riddering says:

The problem is that when a game turns like this, it’s harder to tell the difference between frustrated but informed fans and mentally deficient fanthings.

DGeezy says:

No Arredondo, No Shields, NO K-Rod…lets FUCKIN RALLY

TOmmy says:

HAHA LIKE I SAID BITCHES!!!

dkidd says:

hinske!!! we’re winning this game

Salty Buggah says:

HINSKE!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t think the world is ending, am just frustrated.

It wouldn’t be a huge deal if it was just one game, but games against the Angels have gone EXACTLY like this for what, the past five years now?

Drew says:

Like I said earlier, this guy probably deserves more playing time.

Riddering says:

HINSKE!

BEST TRADE EVER? ;)

Fire Cashman immediately!

Tony says:

Good thing Cody Ransom has been taking ABs from Hinske.

Zach says:

no he hasnt. hinske has played 11 games at third in the last 3 years

Tony says:

And he could have played 1 or 2 in the last 3 weeks.

miketotheg says:

i cant believe hinske is our offense today. why is ransom still on the team? WTF?

let’s trade the farm system for santana.

Nikhil R. says:

Hey Joe, you might want to play Hinske a little bit more.

Zach says:

Who are you playing him over? all of the sudden bench swisher against righties? because hinske is horrible against lefties

Nikhil R. says:

Mix him in a little bit more against righties since Swisher will get nearly all the at-bats against lefties.

Luis Polonia says:

Eric Hinske > David Wright

miketotheg says:

YankeeScribe says:

Hinske is trying to cut into Swisher’s playing time

Anthony says:

Melky pinch hitting for Gardner, why? Because of the lefty?

Tony says:

They’re trying to get him to bench himself

Drew says:

Yeah Melky is teh suxor

TOmmy says:

def bc of the lefty… although man that was a bad AB

mike says:

i need to make my first child a lefty pitcher – the fact Oliver still has a job in the majors is a testament to what im planning!!

dkidd says:

9 out lefts. let’s win this

dkidd says:

8 out lefts. let’s win this

Dorian says:

“I am raising the stakes right now, … If this is a poker game, I am shoving my chips right in the middle of the table. I am raising the ante. Anybody who wants out, can get out. This team is going to WIN THIS GAME. OK? This team is going to WIN THIS GAME.”

Little Bill says:

The Angels do have a pretty awful bullpen. It’s certainly not over with this offense.

A.D. says:

Are you any good at poker?

Dorian says:

Jim Fassel must be

James Auchincloss says:

erick aybar is 5-7 with 4 rbis in this series
hes hit for the cycle in 15 innings

is there anyone on the angels who doesnt wreck the yankees?

Anthony says:

It is a nice change that the Angel’s bullpen is no longer ridiculous like it has been in past years. I smell comeback.

TOmmy says:

damon vs Oliver, if he can get on we will win this game, i am calling it.

Am I asking for too much by wanting at least one more run this inning?

dkidd says:

let’s make them sweat. that’s all i ask

Salty Buggah says:

No I wanted it too…hopefully we get 2 at least next inning. Tex needs a big hit

sjufan says:

from the last thread, “blowing up” may have been strong terminology for the rotation. point being injuries (wang), young starters struggling (joba), and a #5 starter being inconsistent (andy) are not things that should be totally unexpected. in fact, all of these things are incredibly forseeable, and it is likely one of them would happen. that’s why it’s probably not smart to take your 6th starter and make him a reliever. that was my point.

Little Bill says:

Then you send Hughes down to AAA to do what? He’s obviously helping the ML team right now. I thought Hughes should have stayed a starter and Wang stayed in the pen.

Tony says:

The correct answer

A.D. says:

Nova, so far another nice start today.

Drew says:

This is really getting not good.

dkidd says:

BigBlueAL says:

Yankees bullpen depth = Fail

Little Bill says:

No. Aceves was made unavailable by management. Him starting then made others unavailable last night. Joba and Andy should get some blame as well.

Drew says:

Salty Buggah says:

Well, if the starter doesn’t go at least 5 for 5 innings, they will be exposed no matter how good they are.

Salty Buggah says:

Why I’m somewhat frustrated is that D-rob allowed all of those extra runs. Before, when our starter got bombed, the pen would keep them there for the most part and our offense could come back (like when Ac started). Yesterday and today, they’ve given up some runs to put the game away. 6 runs should be enough.

And as I type that, Tomko gives up another bomb to explain my point. We just got back in it and he puts it further away.

Salty Buggah says:

But then again, it’s the starting pitching that is exposing them by making them throw so many innings. That’s 3 straight days that they have not pitched 5 innings.

James Auchincloss says:

is mitre going to be the #5 after the break or will they continue to stretch out aceves?

Dorian says:

We need Ivan Nova up here ASAP. 76 pitches in 7 innings. With 9-3 GO-FO.

Joba to the Minors says:

Looks like RAB has given up on the Joba excuse patrol? It’s about time, but if the Yankees weren’t as naive this problem wouldn’t have escalated to this point.

dkidd says:

over/under on # of pitches for cc tomorrow?

BigBlueAL says:

However many it takes to get the game to Hughes and/or Mo.

Riddering says:

j says:

10-6 against a vlad and hunter less angels team.

smfh

Zach says:

vlad sucks this year

BigBlueAL says:

Vlad the past week had been killing the ball.

Salty Buggah says:

he was on fire before getting hurt again

Luis Polonia says:

Well, we’ve gotten a nice look at what the season would be like without Alfredo Aceves.

Rebecca, you may be right. He might just be this team’s MVP so far this season.

Dorian says:

I don’t want to see anyone else used in this game. Let Tomko take this pounding.

Salty Buggah says:

Tomko does suck. The way he began was a fluke

bicycle boy says:

tomko and ransom need to go…

Dorian says:

Man I sure wish someone would let me hit off Brett Tomko

dkidd says:

best olive garden ad ever

Matt H. says:

I’m glad the Yanks show up against the big players in the American League (Sox, Rays, Angels)…

Dorian says:

It doesn’t really matter because this wouldn’t be the team that faced them in the playoffs. There might be a bullpen of Joba/Phil/Coke/Aceves/Mo

Zach says:

they took 2 out of 3 from Angels earlier this year, and they are 4-2 against Rays.

Matt H. says:

but 0-8 vs the sox

oh, and they are 4-4 vs the Rays, and 1 of the2 of the wins vs the Angels was a 4 run 8th and 2 run 9th for a walkoff, not exactly convincing against the big time teams.

sjufan says:

you send hughes down to AAA until something like this happens (most specifically wang’s injury). the chances of cc, aj, pettitte, joba, and wang making every start the rest of the way were low, as they are for any rotation, and that played itself out very quickly. it was great that hughes was able to make a move to the pen and help the ML club at that time. but that leaves you naked when you experience absolutely inevitable injuries like the yankees have now. hopefully they insert him back into the rotation.

Little Bill says:

I’d like to see him back in the rotation too. I just think his talent is better served at the ML level, rotation or bullpen. Preferably rotation though.

sjufan says:

i totally agree with you there. i just think it’s a tricky spot because we were inevitably going to need another starter, and hughes is so clearly that guy. a month in the bullpen and now they seem hesitant to start him. if that continues, that is not good.

dkidd says:

meaningless, stat padding home run please

dkidd says:
Dorian says:

The sarcasm is just dripping

dkidd says:

i love a-rod. poking fun at the haters

my chips are on the table!!!

Salty Buggah says:

Heh, how did I know A-rod would HR again?

Tomko didn’t give up nine runs.

Drew says:

At least him and Jete’s showed up this series.

Dorian says:

At least A-Rod is hitting like an MVP

DCR says:

The Yankees are too good to be allowing scrubs like Ransom and Tomko to take up spots on their team.

I’ll paraphrase another commenter:

There is no way a team can win a World Series with marginal players on the bench.

Sincerely,
Clay Bellinger

BigBlueAL says:

Co-Signed,
Chris Turner

YankeeScribe says:

Edison field is a bandbox

E-ROC says:

Salty Buggah says:

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a multi-HR game for Alex.

MATSUI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Little Bill says:

GONE! Unfortunately Tomko gave up that run.

Drew says:

Unfortunately AP gave up 6

Riddering says:

It’s not just Brett and Melky who are fired up over competition.

I foresee Hinske hitting another homer and then A-Rod gets all fired up and comes back with another one.

WAIT WAIT MATSUI YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL TO ME.

Moose says:

Joe,

The answer to your ? is rather simple – trade for Halladay (at all costs). Otherwise, we are not making it past the 1st (and definitely not the 2nd) round of the playoffs.

With a 200 million dollar payroll and obnoxiously expensive seats, it would be criminal to not give this team the best chance to win this year (and next, and next, and next).

I could honestly care less about “prospects” – because thats all they are. The chances of Jackson, Montero, Raminine, Joba, and Melancon ALL establishing into great/very good MLB players is about 10%. My guess is half of those guys end up being good MLB players. To not trade those guys for the BEST MLB pitcher would be a shame. Our team is one great pitcher away from being the hands down best team in baseball. 2 pitchers aint gonna cut – three is scary.

If anything, losing to the Angels might actually be a good thing because it will hopefully galvanize Cashman to WAKE THE FUCK UP!

0-8 against Boston and now winless in Anaheim! These are exactly the teams we need to beat. Keep up the good work guys.

A.D. says:

The chances of Jackson, Montero, Raminine, Joba, and Melancon ALL establishing into great/very good MLB players is about 10%.

Thats very true, but if just one of the first 4 reach full potential then they’re more valuable over their career for the Yankees than Halladay will be over the remainder of his career that would be with the Yankees.

Drew says:

GO HIDEKI!! DFA THIS BUM!
Also, it’s not ABRAY-OH!

j says:

8 runs on this pitching isn’t a big deal.

giving up 10 runs to the angels’ offense is.

lets go yanks! pull this bitch off!

zzzz says:

cautious optimism rising!

TOmmy says:

yes…. i am very afraid to become optimistic, but i have to admit i am getting there

Dorian says:

FUK YEAH I TOLD YALL ALL MY CHIPS ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TABLE

dkidd says:

good at-bat jorge. grind it

Dorian says:

This is exactly why bullpen depth is so important for us. We have the ability to never be out of any game. When our bullpen holds down the other team, we can win a lot of games by just killing other team’s garbage bullpens.

dkidd says:

agree. michael kay: “there are no mop-up innings with this team”

Matt H. says:

Because the pen has done a fabulous job “holding down the other team” today…

dkidd says:

proving the point

Luis Polonia says:

I feel like I’m being teased yet again. Hope I’m wrong.

Riddering says:

I love how the “let’s go Yankees” chant is suddenly audible.

C’MON, CANO! Get on base for Hinske.

dkidd says:

tying run to the plate, baby

YankeeScribe says:

Cano gets a hit with a RISP and draws a walk? I think the Yankees might win this game

Little Bill says:

Cano walked! Now I’ve seen everything.

bicycle boy says:

Salty Buggah says:

now would be a good time for another HR Hinske…

mike says:

lets hope Tomko tripped on his way to the dougout so we do not suffer any more pain this game – put Hughes in and let him finish the game to start stretching him out

Salty Buggah says:

damn you Kendrick

TOmmy says:

This team is big tease when on the west, i hope today is different…

Drew says:

Damn, good AB by Hins.

Luis Polonia says:

Hinske is unclutch. Can’t have that in New York. DFA him immediately.

Drew says:

C’mon pen, hold em here.

Top of the order in the ninth?

dkidd says:

mike says:

Odds of figgins playing LF next year??

Charlie says:

i missed the first eight innings. someone wanna tell me how they scored 10 runs? Was Petitte horrible again??

Salty Buggah says:

yea he and D-rob were pretty bad

Luis Polonia says:

Remember yesterday’s game?

Carbon copy of that. Right down to blowing a 4-run lead in the fifth inning.

Charlie says:

well, glad i missed it then

Dorian says:

Ivan Nova: 8IP 98 Pitches 1ER

Right now the way our rotation is going. Those are the most impressive stats. Forget his ridiculous groundball rate.

TOmmy says:

Why not go to Hughes here… im confused… no leftys?

Charlie says:

The name of this spillover thread is kinda confusing. Two reliable pitchers? Unless you meant starters, we’ve got more than that. And the solution to the lack of good starters is putting hughes in the rotation.

Nikhil R. says:

I think he means Burnett and Sabathia.

TOmmy says:

STOP THE DAMN BALL POSADA….

Nikhil R. says:

You have got to be fucking kidding me.

Matt H. says:

What a sloppy game

j says:

Dorian says:

BLOCK THE FUCKING BALL

E-ROC says:

Tom says:

Posada’s defense is a liablity

j says:

omg. jeter TWO HANDS TWO HANDS.

TOmmy says:

He used two yesterday… dropped the ball, he is just tryin to change it up

YankeeScribe says:

Posada = not good at catching nasty pitches

sjufan says:

dkidd says:

eric karros makes robin ventura sound like dave chappelle

Riddering says:

If Coke gets out of this without a run I will send him a giftbasket.

Dorian says:

I’m not including Phil Hughes in this

You have 3 choices for the next Yankee 5th starter

A) Alfredo Aceves
B) Sergio Mitre
C) Ivan Nova

Little Bill says:

bicycle boy says:

I would pick Nova out of those 3.

mike says:

sloppy inning – characteristic of playing in Anaheim – remember all the way back to when Wells basically quit and gave up hit after hit in the playoffs, Crosby colliding in outfield etc..

Luis Polonia says:

Dropped third strike = ridiculous rule. I have always felt this way, even when it benefits the Yankees.

Drew says:

Point to the ball Phil, point to the ball…

Luis Polonia says:
Luis Polonia says:

Didn’t mean for that to be a reply. My bad.

James Auchincloss says:

ITS NOT ABRAY-OH!!!!

fuck this game

Dorian says:

That run goes on Jorge

Drew says:

Salty Buggah says:

Another blown call, he was fuckin out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drew says:

Great throw by Jorgie.

Nikhil R. says:

Another shitty call.

Dorian says:

CHRIST CUD THE UMPS GET SUMTHING RIGHT. ANYTHING

mike says:

Coke has a crappy inning – bottom of the order lead-off hit, lazy throw to 1st, not keeping Figgins close…if he wants more innings and not being a LOOGY-labeled guy, he needed to really shut them down….not so much

mike says:

im sorry – i forgot to mention a softball to Morales

CanoFTW says:

These Fox announcers are killing me – they’ve spent all afternoon butchering Abreu’s name… is it really that hard to spend 5 minutes learning the pronunciations of the players before the game?

bicycle boy says:

I’m starting to think that there’s a collective effort by umps to ruin Yankees games.

j says:

why isn’t there more accountability for umpires? i’m sick of seeing bad calls screwing our team over and over.

j says:

take umpires out completely out of the game and have strikes and balls called by a camera, computer and a scorer. If hard working car industry workers are laid because of robots, why the hell not umps?

Brazilian Yankee says:

Another blown call that costs us a run. Just great.

Dorian says:

I move for a meritocracy in the Rotation. If you suck, you can’t pitch. If you don’t suck, you can pitch

Brazilian Yankee says:

It’s like the umps got ticked off that Jeter “went after” one of them and are now screwing the Yankees on purpose.

j says:

ha! conspiracy theory… the trend seemingly points that direction.

Charlie says:

wow this team is getting shat on while stumbling to the all star break. woulda been nicer to win this series.

AndrewYF says:

Yeah, it would have been nice, but the Yankees have played well enough that it wasn’t even near a necessity.

mike says:

amazing – the Yanks lose ARod and cant hit out of a paper bag, Halos lose both Vlad and Hunter and still club out 22 runs in 2 games

mike says:

That would be 24 runs, and Coke re-confirmed as LOOGY

Luis Polonia says:

Holy crap. We cannot beat these guys.

Brazilian Yankee says:

We can’t beat the Red Sox either. And they are both playoff bound teams. Notice a trend there?

Luis Polonia says:

A very troubling one. Not altogether surprising either. The Angels and the Red Sox are the two teams that have had the biggest hand in the Yankees’ fall from perennial WS contender to a team that can’t even reach the ALCS (or even the playoffs) over the past seven seasons.

The Fallen Phoenix says:

But the Yankees can beat Minnesota, another playoff bound team. 7-0, actually.

And the Yankees beat the Angels back when they visited the Bronx and didn’t have A-Rod.

Matt H. says:

Brazilian Yankee says:

Heckuva job Phil Choke.

bicycle boy says:

angels have score in every inning since the 4th…

Salty Buggah says:

this is frustrating but this one is on jorge and the fuckin ump

Riddering says:

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS.

This inning should’ve been over.

I am writing to the President about this umpire issue. After I stop crying.

Tom says:

This team is an embarrassment. I can’t wait to hear Girardi’s excuses.

j says:

we just got off an amazing run of games and you call our team an embarrassment? i’m embarrassed yankee fans like you exist.

Charlie says:

thats just stupid. 51-36 is an embarassment??? Second place in the fucking AL East?? The reason we lost is because petitte is horrible and our bullpen sucked today

Drew says:

Um, my guess is, we didn’t get pitching. Why are you waiting to hear that?

JackC says:

That seems a little silly. They’ve just gone on something like a 13 out of 14 run. What this team is, and it worries, is as bipolar a club as I’ve seen in years. What’s worrisome is that their down times correspond consistently with the Angels and Red Sox

Charlie says:

what a waste of arod and hinske both homering twice this game is

James Auchincloss says:

everything about this game has sucked: the pitching, the umpiring, the announcing
i couldnt be more miserable right now

TOmmy says:

Honestly, what the fuck is coke doing starting an inning with all right handed hitters exept for abreu…. not to mention a bad call at 2nd…AGAIN plus posada sucking at catching… i can not wait until the all star break…

dkidd says:

forget it, jake. it’s anaheim.

Hova says:

Starting to envy the Mets rotation at this point. We have 2 reliable pitchers. Fcuk.

bicycle boy says:

this team cannot afford pettitte and joba wetting the bed every start, especially now with wang out.

Riddering says:

Did you think over the wording before you posted that comment?

thurdonpaul says:

lmao, it took me awhile, but, i got that, lol

Moose says:

Bobby’s sucha professional hitter.

Give Cashman credit for not giving him a paultry one yr contract and instead going “all in” with Nick “air guitar” Swisher and Xavier “I had one good year” Nady.

In all seriousness, Chasmansn has about as many “busts” as good signs/trades.

Irabu, Contreras, Igawa, Karsay, Farnsworth, Pavano, Pettite (2009), Wright, etc., etc. – and as we can see, their ALL pitchers. Cashman has NO IDEA what he’s talkin about when it comes to pitchers….and Joba is exhibit A. Only Cashman would take an absolutely dominant reliever (and likely replacement of Mariano) and make him into an absolute dud of a starter.

UPDATE: 12-8 angels. Does anyone think this loss is even more alarming considering that we’re playing Anaheim’s AAA team??? No Hunter and Guerrero and they score 22 runs in 2 games??? But hey, lets just “wait this out” and allow these kids to “develop.” Meanwhile, I’m paying $300 for shitty seats in Yankee stadium and unless CC or AJ is pitching, the game is probably gonna be a mess.

Drew says:

Next time don’t buy the tickets.

bonestock94 says:

Yea, with the Yanks record the only games that aren’t a mess are with the #1 and #2 pitchers. The only thing worse than these losses are the retarded posts that pop up on this site when they happen.

Charlie says:

your retarded. joba to the pen??? no comment necessary on that point. And this game was not about letting “these kids develop”. this was petitte, a 37 year old who is simply declining. this is baseball and every game is as unpredictable as the next. they may have gotten rocked by a partially depleted angels lineup (which isn’t even that bad) but I bet at some point the Yanks have shut down a good offense and they will again.

Fucking A. What do our commenting guidelines say about personal attacks. Clearly you disagree with this guy, but insulting him? Stop.

Charlie says:

was it the your retarded part? other than that it didn’t seem like a personal attack to me. and didn’t you just call me a fucking a? lol.

Yeah, it’s the retarded line. We don’t ask much, but one thing we insist on is civility.

Randy A. says:

Those are some pretty creative nicknames you made up for Swisher and Nady.

Although I agree that Cashman has made some horrible moves, he has made good ones too. How about the 2 pitchers that you DONT complain about paying 300 dollars to see. Did he not bring them into this organization? Don’t overreact and then come bitch and moan on a message board about one bad game. Sit the next few plays out and pull yourself together.

Luis Polonia says:

I know Coke was due for a bad outing, but can someone explain why we brought him in to face 8 batters, one of whom was a lefty? Was this really a good plan?

Brazilian Yankee says:

Our manager, he’s in there to put players in a position to fail.

ShuutoHeat says:

I think it’s cause the magic 8 ball said so.

Hova says:

Is there a better manager in baseball than Mike Scioscia? The man can puts up wins with whatever you give him. Deserves to be the highest paid manager in baseball.

AndrewYF says:

“Is there a better manager in baseball than Mike Scioscia when playing the Yankees?”

Fixed that for ya. He’s really, really not all that great. Yankee fans just think so because he turns into a mastermind when his team plays the Yankees, and the Yankees turn into the Pittsburgh Pirates.

dkidd says:

frenchie up with bases loaded

Bam Bam Balboni says:

Frenchie delivers

Dorian says:

Nova had 15 groundouts today to 3 flyballs.

Salty Buggah says:

Yes, Cok pitched bad but he got charged 4 runs that shouldn’t have been

Salty Buggah says:
Charlie says:

j says:

ok… wow. why are there so many damn lohuders on RAB now? its one game and the yankees have been playing absolutely great baseball for more than 2 weeks. our pitching blows up for two games and all of a sudden we’re an embarrassment? a bad team? wtf?

Dorian says:

LMFAO OMG The Cleveland show

Riddering says:

MELKY!

Okay, now if we get two more on base A-Rod can hit a grand slam and Matsui and Jorge will follow up with more runs.

Salty Buggah says:

heh I knew Jeter had to GIDP soon, good thing it’s today

YankeeScribe says:

Example #4080 proving that pitching + defense > offense

The Yanks have two players with two homers in this game and they’re still losing!

Salty Buggah says:

yes, but several umpire blown calls dont help the cause.

No errors/umpirers, we save about 8 runs

AndrewYF says:

The Angels offense won them the game today. If they played like the Royals, they would have lost, and then that would be “Example #5607 that a great offense always gives you runs to work with”.

Dorian says:

My word. We got one more trip out here too.

bicycle boy says:

THANK YOU DEREK. NOW this game can end.

Bam Bam Balboni says:

Hopefully this game and last nights game will keep Cashman on his toes. This team needs pitching and it needs it in the worst way. Way to show up for a national televised game. Now the whole world can see they Yanks with their thumbs in their mouths and pants around their ankles.

Drew says:

Cashman doesn’t need two losses in July to stay “on his toes.”

Bam Bam Balboni says:

Winning 10 of 12 or whatever it was can give you false hope.
The Angels just reminded Cashman and the rest of the Yankee Universe that their bullpen and starting pitching is not up to snuff agaisnt the better competition and future playoff opponenents aka Red Sox who are laying the lead pipe to the Royals as we speak. Anyway, goodnight and hopefully CC can end this mockery that the Yankees make of themselves in the House of Horrors in Anaheim.

AndrewYF says:

Yes, winning 12 of 14 was just another fluke in a season of flukes and 2 bad games is a much better indicator of who the Yankees *really* are. Genius.

I’m beginning to hate the Yankee fanbase even more than the Sox fanbase.

JobaWockeeZ says:

Yeah I know how that feels.
The want now attitude, the I’m better than Cashman attitude, the I’m better than Girardi attitude, team bashing over a couple losses and the booing make other fans simply unbearable at times.

Drew says:

Well, that was not good.

Brazilian Yankee says:

Only this team could score 14 runs in 2 days and lose both games. Thank you Big Game Andy and Mr. Young Stud Chamberlain.

the Evil Avacado says:

Ivan Nova today 8 IP 4H 1ER

if he keeps it up he has to be thought of as a viable option

YankeeScribe says:

He will get his chance after the break

Charlie says:

Sure about that? I had no idea he was ready for the big leagues. I guess he’d be better than mitre or aceves, but not better than hughes, who is the one who should be the 5th starter.

Dorian says:

Who takes “Hughesy’s” spot in the pen?

Charlie says:

I guess Aceves since he started the last 5th starter game. In an ideal world the yanks pen is Mo, Bruney, Coke, Robertson, Aceves, Melancon, and Albaladejo, with Tomko being DFA’d.

Dorian says:

What do you mean “if he keeps this up?”

The guy has done enough to earn a start he has better stuff than anyone else that would be an option not named Phil Hughes. Give the start to the kid.

the Evil Avacado says:

Chill out Dorian, I agree with you…

Christ, 3/4 of posters on this site DESperately need to switch to decaf

dkidd says:

FOX + anaheim = crappy play

James Auchincloss says:

meanwhile boston is up 3-0 after three royals errors in the first inning
how convenient to coast into the break with 7 at home against the a’s and royals

Charlie says:

I’m not gonna freak out because of these two games. And nobody should. The yankees have a great team, and they don’t really need to trade for roy halladay or some other expensive veteran who we’d be surrendering several prospects for. I’m confident the yanks will come out smoking after the ASB as they often do, and be right there with the red sox come october. Its two bad games, and teams are bound to go in slumps after the way the yanks were playing

Jim says:

I agree. Joba, Pettitte, and our TBD fifth starter have really made me happy this season. I am 100% confident that when we play teams with good pitching we’ll win the games 1-0 or 2-1. Oh well, at least we can beat the Athletics and Twins. We always do. But the Angels, we never win. The Red Sox, we never win. It’ll be fun until the playoffs, when we get swept in the 1st round, like usual.

Dorian says:

Candidate for the dumbest post I have ever seen.

Charlie says:

Ok, man, we didn’t beat this angels 2 out of 3 earlier in the year or anything, RIGHT? And the yankees haven’t won 26 world series, they just get swept in the first round every time, RIGHT? The Yankees are fine, you’re wrong.

Jim says:

Yeah bud Ruth and Mantle and Dimaggio and Jackson are really gonna help your point … Let’s talk about the last 8 years, of course they arent always swept, but how close have they come to winning the WS? Not very…
