Sit down Thames…I like this flame-throwing Joba. Even if he misses his spots, his overpowering stuff can bail him out and that’s why velocity is kinda important for Joba, until he gets better control.
You notice how his stuff is electric when he gets plenty of rest between starts? the only other time i remember him hitting 97 is that cleveland start when he pulled that superman dive. and his start before that one was when he got hit in the knee so he basicly only threw like 10 pitches. then he had like what 10 days of rest this past week? you think that has anything to do with his stuff in his following start?
do you feel that once he builds up more innings that he’ll be able to do this on a more regular basis? I would sure love to see him stay a starter because he could be so great there.
he drives me NUTS… but with his on base at the bottom of the order, plus the amount of pitches he sees… he is a really nice part to this lineup… but boy is he infuriating
And this is why trading this guy or putting him the pen and bringing up an AAA guy to start is ridiculous. I can’t believe some people were arguing getting rid of Joba. It just boggles my mind.
Not me, buddy. The Yankees don’t need to deplete their prospects and take on a terrible contract in Vernon Wells to get Halladay for 1.5 years. You don’t give up on guys like Joba and Hughes.
If its not the point then why did you bring it up?
I’m not saying trade Joba, Hughes, Montero for Halladay, but if it was Joba or Hughes without Montero I’d make that deal
He’s going the same way Hughes did. Lost some velocity and suddenly everybody thought he was washed up. Suddenly he finds it and he’s the next Roger Clemens again
Every site who had those polls on who to trade for Halladay should do those again. I wanna see how the results change as everyone was willing to trade Joba.
Yo we have seen some flame throwers in this series. Whether it’s Joba and Jackson today, yesterday was CC and Verlander, and Friday was AJ, Hughes and Zumaya. Talk about just throwing gas.
exactly. when no one is on base and it says run(s) you know its a HR automatically so its a great feeling that you dont have to wait those extra 15 seconds
sweet story b/n Robinson and I. during ST, while Robi was warming up, i told him to “dame una guina” (a wink) and he did! but the kicker is before his next AB, he tossed me a signed ball by him and Alex! one of my favorite baseball moments, and it makes me incredibly biased towards him when people try to doubt him
Great Job Joba. Just a terrific performance, and I like about his performance he bared down much better after yankee misques and got stronger as the game progress. Great game Joba.
Will Tex or A-Rod lead the Yanks in HRs and RBIs this year? A-Rod looks like he’s going to give Tex a run for his money despite missing the first 6 weeks of the season…
Loved the way Joba pitched today. Looked like a stud. But he’s also pitching on eight days rest. It will be interesting to see what his next start is like.
I wonder how Bruney feels now that Phil Hughes has taken his 8th inning job. Bruney is in Girardi’s doghouse for sure. Dude hasn’t pitched in a long time.
I wish that Girardi still had confidence to put him in in a close game cause that makes the pen that much better, but hopefully he works the kinks out over the remainder of the season.
So I don’t know whether or not anyone else saw this, but after Hughes performance on Friday night Bill Simmons was using his twitter to reverse jinx Hughes. Nice try red sox nation.
Can you imagine next season when the rotation goes CC, AJ, Joba and then Hughes? Seriously, that might be one of the hardest throwing quartets I’ve ever seen. We’re talking maxing out at 98, 98, 100, 96 in a four game series
Anyone that thinks that Cashman is gonna give up on Phil, Joba, or Montero after putting his job on the line–more than once, mind you–to get kids like them in the organization, is bat-shit insane.
While were having a farm system love fest, a good little piece from Chad Jennings :Austin Jackson hasn’t had a multi-strikeout game since June 26, a span of 17 games. In that time he has 11 strikeouts and eight walks”
Which means that he will replace Joba in the Halladay packages tomorrow. Montero, Shelley Duncan, and half a Twix that I found in some old jeans for Doc and we will take Rios.
Ya…I never understood that statistic because even though they aren’t in first place, the Yankees handled the Rangers this year too. Just another statistic to detract the Yankees record.
ha remember the panic in April? (led by Francesa of course).
The homers are up! Way more hits than innings pitched! He hates the new stadium! This is why Joba needs to be in the pen! = Fail
Mo says Fuck You ump! He probably just walked Laird for fun because it had been a while.
Too bad he’s not available for the next 2 games now as he has worked 3 days in a row now. Oh well, we got the sweep so Im okay. Besides, hopefully we blow them out so he wont be needed.
Yankees best pitch series this season, just terrific pitching. The stuff that the guys like Hughes, Joba, CC and heck even Coke gets it up there in the mid 90′s, was just electric and overpowering.
Big game by Joba and the yanks win with a help from Roy Halladay are only down a game to the sox.
actually, no I do not. I’m stating that our 3-4 is getting healthy and Gardner has no business batting between Jeter and Tex. He should be leading of or batting 9th.
.280 with a discerning eye and ridiculous speed that can mess with a pitchers mindset against tex and arod? I’ll take that as a once in a while thing when subbing for damon.
If Gardner is at the top of the order, I would swap him with Jete for that game. I’d rather have Jete driving in Gardner after he steels second then Gardner hit behind Jete.
Missed most of the game today, I was busy catching a monster fluke.
I got to see Mo close it out at least. Man, I can’t (well, I guess I sorta can) believe that Al already has 19 HR’s. If him and Teix both get it going together, and if Al gets that average up, we are going to be on fire.
Great job by Jober today too. Any time his max FB is 97, today it was 96.9, he is a killer.
Awfully encouraging. I think Joba did a lot of things well today–just a much better job of attacking and trusting his stuff. But boy, you can’t ignore the velocity jump. By my count, he threw 71 fastballs, and his average velocity comes out to pretty much exactly 93–now that’s very good for Joba this year, though it’s still off from where he was pre=Texas shoulder. But starting with his 50th fastball, boy, he turned it on. The distribution from that point on:
92—1
93—5
94—5
95—4
96—3
97—4
That’s an average velocity of 94.6, which is comparable to Joba the starter in 2008.
He also hit 95 and 96 twice each earlier in the game. Note there have been games this year where he his peak FB is 95.
Now maybe it was the extra rest–and frankly, I think that should be looked at. I know tjsc feels differently on this, and I don’t know how many opportunities to exist to do (and also whether doing so requires giving an unacceptable number of additional starts to guys like Mitre), but do you have to think about skipping him whenever the chance arises? Maybe it gives you a more effective Joba, and also conceivably one who could start a playoff game if the circumstances should so justify.
Don’t get me wrong–he needs to learn to be effective on normal rest. But I’d definitely be open to them trying to be a little creative here on out this year.
Also, in listenting to his postgame comments right now, makes me think even more this is something worth considering–he sounds like a totally different guy talking right now, and I think this is valid–for all he says it doesn’t matter, he can’t be unaffected by some of the issues surrounding his family right now, and it sounds like he really did need a break both mentally and physically.
Joba Chamberlain is BACK
THAT WAS AN AWESOME FIST PUMP!
Way to bail out Swish, Joba.
Take that b-Jobbers and t-Jobbers. Joba does NOT belong in the bullpen and should NOT be traded. He has been brilliant today.
LOVE IT!
Ajde!
“if you’re going to act like that on the mound then you have to expect the opposition is out to get you and better be able to handle it” ~ Kruk
ha yes because if you dont fist pump the opposition doesnt try to when they’re at bat
Sit down Thames…I like this flame-throwing Joba. Even if he misses his spots, his overpowering stuff can bail him out and that’s why velocity is kinda important for Joba, until he gets better control.
Joba is seriously bringing it today. He’s throwing really hard.
Ain’t no one to blame, but Thames for that one!
I should be the announcer for the Yanks!
(sarcasm)
CHEESE
You notice how his stuff is electric when he gets plenty of rest between starts? the only other time i remember him hitting 97 is that cleveland start when he pulled that superman dive. and his start before that one was when he got hit in the knee so he basicly only threw like 10 pitches. then he had like what 10 days of rest this past week? you think that has anything to do with his stuff in his following start?
Lombardi has been looking at this same theory and has some stats if you check out waswatching.com
The start after he got hit in the knee was the worst velocity wise (at Texas). He barely cracked 90.
That’s not something that’s unique to Joba. Every starter is better with extra rest.
do you feel that once he builds up more innings that he’ll be able to do this on a more regular basis? I would sure love to see him stay a starter because he could be so great there.
Good thing Gossage wasn’t in the booth for that strikeout!
Melky HR here hopefully…
or a 1st pitch groundout
Can’t believe Swish is down to .236
I can. His career mark is .243
he drives me NUTS… but with his on base at the bottom of the order, plus the amount of pitches he sees… he is a really nice part to this lineup… but boy is he infuriating
I justify him by remembering that we got him for Wilson Betemit
and our OF would be Damon-Gardner-Melky without him
I see him as Jason Giambi, but cheaper.
How many pitches for Jackson?
69
Only 69 :-/
nice inning there
man i cannot wait until edwin jackson is out of this game
he is too damn good
The rate it’s going now you’re gonna have to wait until the game is over…
Especially when Yankees’ players are taking hacks at first pitches out of the zone.
What has Joba’s average FB velocity been so far?
Sheesh. Way to take a pitch so Joba can get a little breather, guys.
haha yeah that seemed like a 7 pitch inning
because it was a 7 pitch inning?
oh jeez
man that sucked then….
Because it was?
Nice inning offense…
shit
damn 2 straight 1st pitch groundouts
Is Joba throwing his changeup today?
What’s this, Joba in the 6th? I thought this wasn’t allowed.
Did they change the “Joba rules”?
get that change lower
SWEET!
Jesus, 96-97-97-96-SLIDER
No hitting that shit
Slider was 87, too.
unbelievable
HE’S BAAAAAACK
96-97-97-96 and then finish him off with the slider
LOVE IT!
Holy crap Joba, who spiked your cornflakes?
Joba’s at just about 100 pitches. Send him back out for the 7th!
98 pitches…why not? He’s on extra rest and has been throwing great so far. When he gets in trouble take him out immediately.
let him face Laird and Santiago, then bring Coke in for Granderson (hits .198 against lefties)
Sounds right to me
Good call.
I would considering he’s getting stronger with every pitch.
aight let’s go O
98 pitches, dare we bring Joba in for the 7th?
Joba stuff looks really electric right now.
because hes closer to the 8th inning, its like a magnet
hahaha!
And this is why trading this guy or putting him the pen and bringing up an AAA guy to start is ridiculous. I can’t believe some people were arguing getting rid of Joba. It just boggles my mind.
People overreact.
Not me, buddy. The Yankees don’t need to deplete their prospects and take on a terrible contract in Vernon Wells to get Halladay for 1.5 years. You don’t give up on guys like Joba and Hughes.
You dont have to take Wells to get Halladay
That’s not the point. The point is you don’t trade Joba or Hughes. It can’t and won’t happen.
If its not the point then why did you bring it up?
I’m not saying trade Joba, Hughes, Montero for Halladay, but if it was Joba or Hughes without Montero I’d make that deal
He’s figured it out in the past 2 innings.
It’s nice that we’re all admiring Joba…but how about some runs?
Nice pitching all around in this series. Only Zumaya sucked haha
Now for some run support, please.
You want to bet a lot of the Halladay packages suggested tomorrow suddenly will have Joba taken out of them?
I esp love other fans saying that Riccardi doesn’t want Joba
He’s going the same way Hughes did. Lost some velocity and suddenly everybody thought he was washed up. Suddenly he finds it and he’s the next Roger Clemens again
Posada should not be allowed to catch Joba. Bring Cervelli back.
I want to see runs offense, give Joba this well-deserved win.
Every site who had those polls on who to trade for Halladay should do those again. I wanna see how the results change as everyone was willing to trade Joba.
well, not everyone but the irrational impatient people
Yo we have seen some flame throwers in this series. Whether it’s Joba and Jackson today, yesterday was CC and Verlander, and Friday was AJ, Hughes and Zumaya. Talk about just throwing gas.
yea, I’d like to see the collective average mph from everyone in this series (except French)
Playoff preview?
7 pitches total last inning, 6 pitches to Garnder this inning
Well, the last inning started off with 5 pitches to Swisher.
MMM, run support.
SHE’S GONE! REMEMBER WHEN TEX COULDN’T HIT HOMERS? JOBA IN LINE FOR THE WIN!!!!
Tex no like tie game…
TEX BABY!!
A TEX MESSAGE!!!
2-1!!!
CRUSHED!
Tex!
TEX IS A BEAST!!!
how bout that? thought he had a walk, decided he wanted a HR
I’d say that was a good tradeoff.
hahahahaha, Clete Thomas didn’t even move.
i saw that too
very nice
And boom goes the dynamite. Time to lock this shit down.
Love it when the Rf doesn’t move a muscle.
Yea, but Kenny, isn’t that disrespectable to teh pitcher?
TEX!
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG
Teixeira, I <3 <3 <3 <3 you!
Thanks for that strike one call, ump!
that was amazing
That dude could hit a FB or what.
Teix message to right field.
Oh boy. Can you imagine Tex being with the Sox? That would suck A LOT
A-Rod and Tex for many years to come. I love it.
In play, run(s)
I go nuts whenever I see that.
In play, out(s) sucks though, you never know what it is until they show you on GD
exactly. when no one is on base and it says run(s) you know its a HR automatically so its a great feeling that you dont have to wait those extra 15 seconds
I just love to see that. Even more when it’s Tex or A-Rod batting.
Now I rather see the bullpen take over. Can Ace and Hughes each give us one inning?
MAN ALEX IS ON FIIIIIIIIIREEEE!!!
YEZZUR!
Our 3-4 guys have carried the otherwise lethargic offense today…I like it.
That’s y there paid the big bucks to do.
Crush Mothafuckers brains out.
How was that just a single? seemed to be hit farther on gameday
because Alex looks 40 out there
/buster
it was hit incredibly hard, bounced off the wall and was well played by Thomas when A-rod was barely around first
Because he crushed it off the wall. He hit it too hard.
It was hit very hard, bounced of the wall right into Thomas’s glove, and he has an unbelievable arm out there.
It one-hopped to the fence and Thomas made a good retrieval on the bounce.
thanks guys
Please, just put the radar gun in the garbage. There’s no point to having it.
Is Hughes available for the 8th or does Girardi has to piece it together?
He better be available. He is in the bullpen to help the team win now according to Cashman & Co.
and he threw 40 pitches on Friday, with a 23 year old arm who has limited experience bouncing back in short time periods
If he isnt used then lets hope Coke can be effective
joba for Laird and Santiago, then Coke for Granderson (batting .198 against lefties) is my wish
good call
No, they said he’s not available until Monday. Aceves and Coke can figure it out.
NICE JOB
HIP HIP JORGE!!!
Tex makes that play
I really hope Joba has a successful 6th inning, but I DONT like this long break between him pitching in the 5th and 6th.
Joba has completed 6 IP already, next inning will be his 7th if he goes back out
My mistake, I dont like the long break between the 6th and 7th innings for Jober
i (and probably every SP) would take run support over a short inning any day
Well he’s dealing so what I said before is a moot point
I predict that in the 6th he strikes out the first two batters then gets a ground out to second.
Damn, you’re good.
You’re clairvoyant. Good job
Joba had a very successful 6th inning.
A single right here would be yuuuuuuge.
Cmon Robbie…another chance with RISP for you.
never mind
Man, Robbie’s just unlucky today.
I think you mean the whole season.
wow cano always hits into the worst of luck
bad luck? that was a soft hit ball to the ss risp what else is new
Soft hit ball? What game are you watching?
That ball was soft hit only in your mind.
he hit the ball pretty hard there
Crud, lined it to Santiago.
Ha. His RISP avg. goes down, the volume on his detractors up. And yet he scorched that ball.
Nothing wrong with that he hit it hard on a line.
Man that just sucks, he must lead the league in lineouts
gana la plata, Robinson!!
sweet story b/n Robinson and I. during ST, while Robi was warming up, i told him to “dame una guina” (a wink) and he did! but the kicker is before his next AB, he tossed me a signed ball by him and Alex! one of my favorite baseball moments, and it makes me incredibly biased towards him when people try to doubt him
Thats fuckin awesome.
Great story…You what makes me biased toward him? He’s a Yankee
Are you male or female?
I am one man, but I’d understand Robi being a little more chivalrous if i were una chica
That’s quite awesome.
THAT is awesome.
Joba in the 7th?
Francesa is having a heart attack right about now…
Greinke has 5 CG, how many does Joba have?!?!
If the Blue Jays can beat the Red Sox, why can’t we?
We will.
listening to Caray…is Mitre pronounced Mee-Tray or My-Tur???
mee-tray
The former
Mee-tray.
cool thanks. I wasn’t sure and didn’t want to put too much in to what Chip was saying
heck of an outing. Let’s hope the pen can hold it
He’s just fucking with them now
cmon joe, why the hell do you take the boy out?
granderson bats .198 against lefties, i’m guessing Coke is coming in?
yeah coke is coming in
hey it worked
Tough lefty up, pitch count. I dont mind Coke for one batter.
Umm. Anyone else kinda wish Joba was staying in?
Seriously. Use those bullets.
Nah, let the lefty pitch to Granderson
Yes. He was dealing this inning. I like Joba being allowed to go a full 7 innings especially since he struck out the first two batters in the 7th.
Stands and applauds for Jobber.
nice Joba, hopefully we win one for you
Great Job Joba. Just a terrific performance, and I like about his performance he bared down much better after yankee misques and got stronger as the game progress. Great game Joba.
*applauds for Joba*
If coke gives up a bomb here…
I was about to type the same thing, but Granderson did his thing by then.
A good outing. Now Part 4 of Joba Lane wont be quite as depressing.
All part of their eeeeeevvilllllllll plan to delay part 4 until he had a good start, thus ending the stroll down Joba lane on a high. Muahaha….ha?
Will Tex or A-Rod lead the Yanks in HRs and RBIs this year? A-Rod looks like he’s going to give Tex a run for his money despite missing the first 6 weeks of the season…
Two straight days where solo homers seem to be everything.
Take what you can get from Verlander and Jackson.
Good old pitching duels.
my best friend watching this game stood up and clapped for joba right next to me
too funny
I also did this.
well done, Coke
I like the one pitch one out thing.
ultimate effectiveness
YEA NO BOMB!!!
Wow, that was easy.
well that was easy for coke
sorry for doubting you joe
thats a soft lineout for the person who called Robbie’s hard liner soft.
Kate Smith? Still? Really?
Not thrilled with taking Joba out after he just K’ed 5 of the last 6 batters….but *shrug*, moot point.
i just checked gameday and joba threw 107 pitches, 68 of them for strikes
not bad considering how shakily he started
Joba did a nice job raising his trade value today. j/k
ha that was funny
Loved the way Joba pitched today. Looked like a stud. But he’s also pitching on eight days rest. It will be interesting to see what his next start is like.
Night game against Oakland. Sounds good.
7ip just looks so much better than 6.2 in the box scores.
stolen from LoHud
Joba at Detroit on April 29: 7 3 1 1 3 6
Joba against Detroit today: 6.2 3 1 1 3 8
an insurance run or 2 would be nice here…
Good time for Swish to show us some of that power.
So Hughes IS warming up
Wouldn’t wanna get him in there without warming up!
So Bruney pitches the 8th?
I wonder how Bruney feels now that Phil Hughes has taken his 8th inning job. Bruney is in Girardi’s doghouse for sure. Dude hasn’t pitched in a long time.
its up to Bruney for that to change. get back on track and he’ll see more meaningful innings
word
Agreed. Imagine if he gets back to his pre-injury form? Mo, Phil, Ace and Bruney. Holy cow.
still only 1/10th as good as the unhittable boston bullpen
And Marte if he can get healthy and be effective
I wish that Girardi still had confidence to put him in in a close game cause that makes the pen that much better, but hopefully he works the kinks out over the remainder of the season.
if hes not effective it doesnt make the pen better
thats why I said I hope he works the kinks out over the remainder of the season
So I guess Phil is available.
Yay!
I thought Hughes wasn’t available today?
Strangely, I agree with bunting in this spot.
yea, you figure Jeter is hot and hits are scarce
no DP Melky
I think Swisher had that stolen if Melky didn’t swing.
Come on, no more of those awkward hacks you’ve been taking against Jackson today.
Or don’t listen to me.
oh no Jeter no come through clutch!
Gritner triple..
bah, a BB is okay I guess.
Gritner lol.
Grit with a walk.
So…how about another jack Tex?
Gardy has 3 HRs yet no “real” HR (besides the inside the park one) at TEH BANDBOX.
Wasn’t one of his homers at the Rogers Center in Toronto?
Yea and the other in Citi I think
So I don’t know whether or not anyone else saw this, but after Hughes performance on Friday night Bill Simmons was using his twitter to reverse jinx Hughes. Nice try red sox nation.
Hmm, two tiny chunks of old stadium sod or a chocolate colored creampuff chair??? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO MAKE THAT DECISION?????
Hughes!!!
cmon Hughes…DP ball
That’d be a pretty unlikely one: flyball pitcher and a flyball hitter.
Thames with the K.
He’s actually not a flyball pitcher. look at his history.
I’ll take it
Cabrera is just a great hitter. a DH, but a great hitter.
true
I can’t wait for Hughes to be pitching in the rotation like he does in the pen. It’s going to be so beautiful.
But…teh eighth!1one1
Damn Hughes.
I think the kids are all right.
Hughes!!!!!!!!!
TODAY IS FISTPUMP SUNDAY!!!
EXCELLNTE YANKEES!
Thomas was extra late on that fastball.
5 swinging strikes out of 13 pitches. Me likey!
How do you miss a fastball right down the middle? Seriously…
Hughes doesnt have the demeanor for the 8th inning like Joba does
/goose
Wow. Just wow. So good, Kay’s “Phil Hughes was Phil-thy” didn’t make me want to put my fist through the TV.
Bush league fist pump from Phil. Keep it in your pants kid.
Semi fist pump Mike.
Did you just tell him to fist pump in his pants?
Time to amend the commenting guidelines
Literal LOL
Clete Thomas thank you for partcipating in The Phil Hughes Experience.
Boy when u see guys like Joba and Hughes pitch like this, u just feel so damn proud. Those guys came from the yanks system.
Starting pitcher through closer are all products of the farm system, just awesome
Impossible. We suck at producing prospects. We must have stolen them from the “Machine” (which is what one scout called them) in Boston.
“they have street cred now- when Red Sox say you’re going to be good, you’re not just good, you make a major impact”
-Merloni
How many of you just went from 6 to midnight?
I did.
hahaha
IETC
Where’s IPK?
I read that he was throwing from flat ground.
How is Hughes so awesome all of a sudden? Did ARod set him up with his cousing?
LMAO
IETC
No, he went to David Ortiz’s eye doctor.
Oh. I thought they were the same person!
Ha…cause eye drops help bat speed and whatnot
Well, actually, he was always awesome. He needed to adjust to the majors like most kids when they come up.
its the hair. its always about the hair.
Can you imagine next season when the rotation goes CC, AJ, Joba and then Hughes? Seriously, that might be one of the hardest throwing quartets I’ve ever seen. We’re talking maxing out at 98, 98, 100, 96 in a four game series
Don’t get overexcited. It’s not like Hughes and Joba are throwing that hard everytime when they’re starting and on regular rest…
yeah thats over ambixious, and what got everyone down on Joba because he doesnt have a 2.12 era as a starter
They’ll get there.
Phil Hughes is a bad, bad man.
Anyone that thinks that Cashman is gonna give up on Phil, Joba, or Montero after putting his job on the line–more than once, mind you–to get kids like them in the organization, is bat-shit insane.
Tough series if ur the Detroit Tigers. All you been facing is 95-98 MPH Heat all series.
True, but the Tigers pitchers are no slouches either. We’ve just been a little bit better every game.
While were having a farm system love fest, a good little piece from Chad Jennings :Austin Jackson hasn’t had a multi-strikeout game since June 26, a span of 17 games. In that time he has 11 strikeouts and eight walks”
But Montero was 0-4 =(
Send him to TEH BULLPEN!!!11
Oh…
Damn, Montero is human after all.
Which means that he will replace Joba in the Halladay packages tomorrow. Montero, Shelley Duncan, and half a Twix that I found in some old jeans for Doc and we will take Rios.
Regular Twix? Or Peanut Butter? That might be a deal breaker.
mind the rules buddy…Yeah, read that. I hope he’s for real.
Dopeness.
Nice long AB by A-rod..even though it was a K, I like it. He seems to getting a lot more of those this year.
Jeez Kenny, they’ve been chanting Hip Hip Jorge for years.
HIP HIP JORGE!!!!
LOL! MLB.TV cut in early (seems to be automatic now) and Kay was singing along with Metallica…;)
yeah that was really funny
and terrible
He got the lyrics wrong too
man could kay have used any more adjectives to describe mariano’s jog?
Did he use “scrumtrallassent?” Otherwise the list is incomplete.
i think he almost got that in there
not too many…atleast he’s not referring to Swisher as “Jolly old saint Nick” though.
In Mo We Trust !
Since when did Optimus Prime peddle Coors Light? I always thought of him as more of a Duers kind of robot.
And that pitch was where?
Outside.
Still got the out.
Mariano gets the call more often than not, tough to complain if he doesnt get 1 or 2 calls
This Umpire is beginning to piss me off.
Well, the game is coming to a close. He must have done a decent job if your only getting pissed now.
Mo kinda got squeezed
Looks like Magglio better get set up with AROD cousin also.
Nah, thats no help. As Mike said earlier, Big Papi’s eye doctor is the answer.
Again.
One more, Mo. Don’t let this punk Laird ruin your day.
man does this ump know he’s umpiring MO!??!!
Mo hasn’t been squeezed like that in the last decade. LOL.
Trey Hillman should be fired. How do you not go to Soria in this inning? Unbelievable.
he got the vote of confidence for this season and next season
he ain’t goin nowhere
WHERE THE HELL DID THAT MISS??
Ooof, just a little high.
That’s just Mo’s third unintentional walk of the year.
That ump forgot his eyedrops.
Here something u don’t see often, Mo BB a guy.
Gameday has a majority of these pitches on the edge. Mo’s getting squeezed big time.
Well, does it matter now?
Yay Mo! Yay win!
How Sweep It Is !
Enjoy the rest of your day. See ya tomorrow night.
Booyakasha!
Can’t beat first place teams!!!!!!!
Ya…I never understood that statistic because even though they aren’t in first place, the Yankees handled the Rangers this year too. Just another statistic to detract the Yankees record.
well at the time they had like the best record in the AL and we beat them.
Yes…ESPN likes to point out anything they possibly can to take away from what the Yankees are doing
WOOOOOOOO BALL GAME OVER! YANKEES WIN!
BRING OUT THE BROOMS BABY!
Great series for the Yankees pitching staff. A pleasure to watch.
The sweep is sweeeeeeet!
Mariano increased his BB total by 33% today. Clearly he’s slipping.
i like the way you think boy.
ha remember the panic in April? (led by Francesa of course).
The homers are up! Way more hits than innings pitched! He hates the new stadium! This is why Joba needs to be in the pen! = Fail
They should move him to the 8th.
Do you guys think Suzyn Waldman and Kim Jones hate each other? Haha. I always picture them competing for which guy to interview after the game.
Great game today. Only 1 game back of the hated Red Sux. Nice to see Joba win out in the pitchers duel.
It’s weird Tex smiled when Kim asked him about Joba, because everybody in the locker room hates Joba and is tired of his act.
/guy who only listens to wfan.
clubhouse wants him to go to Single-A to learn how to pitch, they were begging Cash to sign a veteran with winning experience like Pedro
Maybe Joba is a 2nd Half Pitcher like Cano is a 2nd Half hitter (though not today)
Good Pitching in this series and both Tex and A-rod carried us in these 3 games getting the clutch HRs. SWEEP!
SWEEP~
You have to love winning those 2-1 pitcher’s duels.
+1
and at the same time Detriot must be devasted losing 2 2-1 games against a team that cant beat first place clubs
Nice game, finally a televised one (for me) were Joba pitches well.
What an incredible game. After this weekend, I say we just make it a complete homestand sweep.
i think the fearsome 3-4 is coming around to be just that. I don’t understand the Gardner in the 2 hole though.
nitpick much?
actually, no I do not.
As many pitches as Swish sees, I’d rather gardy than Swish in the 2 hole when JD needs a rest.
If Gardner is at the top of the order, I would swap him with Jete for that game. I’d rather have Jete driving in Gardner after he steels second then Gardner hit behind Jete.
I can see Joba really taking off for the 2nd half. Now that the finish line is in sight he might not be so timid with the fastball
Any time his max FB is 97, today it was 96.9, he is a killer.
