Zach,
Anyway, I’m not even someone complaining about him. I was just arguing that with Jober, along with AJ who has a bad injury history that AP was signed to be more than a 5th starter. That’s where we disagree I guess. Nothing wrong with that.
WTF offense? Which part is that surprising – not crushing a kid they should crush because it’s the 1st time they’ve seen him or Cano leaving the bases loaded when they could have opened up?
As of right now, including tonight’s game, he has a 1.47 WHIP and a 21/15 K/BB ratio in 38 IP. He has a career 1.56 WHIP. The Yanks have the best offense in the majors. How should that not be a recipe for success?
Again, I must have just missed the memo that we were going to have the privilege of seeing poetry in motion on the mound tonight.
Question – off topic, but does anyone have the link to the latest release of porspect rankings? I am having an discussion with a Met fan that is trying to tell me that Montero was not ranked in the top 10?
He’s showing off his red socks. The idiots in the front office redesigned the road uniform to include Yankee blue socks (along with the Yankee blue lettering) until the fans and media screamed. Dumb move for a bunch of pretty smart guys.
Via CNNSI (jon heyman: Toronto’s request of the Mets for star pitcher Roy Halladay was for top outfield prospect Fernando Martinez, young pitchers Bobby Parnell and Jon Niese and shortstop prospect Ruben Tejada, sources tell SI.com.
You would be correct. I love him too but he would not be able to make those plays. On the flip side, Jorge may have hot a 2 run bomb bit thats another story.
By the way, why are we all getting so excited about the calls at the plate? I mean…the ball did beat the runner in both cases. That’s an automatic out.
That’s got to hurt your self-esteem, the knicks didn’t want him, the grizzlies, the clippers, and now the Timberwolves, not exactly the titans of the league
I think it’s also just the feel and atmosphere around the team. They’ve got the homeruns, the speed, the fielding, and they’ve shown a lot of great character on and off the field. With it being the beginning of a new era with the new Yankee Stadium, it’s starting to eerily feel like the makings of one of those blessed Yankee seasons.
You know, I’ll say this: for as frustrating as the series against Boston, Florida and Anaheim have been, this season has had just a ridiculous amount of awesome, fun moments. And, really, when it comes to sports, isn’t that all you can ask for?
I wonder what kind of remark John Henry has about this. I said Smoltz was a tool, despite being as good as he is (was). However, John Henry is the biggest tool in Boston.
I started to get the feeling the world was going back on its correct axis when that tool started talking trash about Tex. It’s time for them to remember they’re the Red Sox after all.
why would Doc waive his no trade to go the Mets to finish under .500 this season and maybe be competitive last year?
Someone’s going to trade for him and someone’s going to give up good prospects for him
Ok I agree with that, I took it the wrong way. MY point was that the ‘magnitude’ of Halladay trade- the effect it will have on the season (and possibly next) will be greater than what Tex was to Atlanta.
Man, I am tired of the Boston slobber jobs. MLB Network (Harold Reynolds): “Boston is the only team that has a bullpen where that (Smoltz going only 5 innings) could work, with guys who can go multiple innings of shut down ball.”
dont you realize that part of their jobs is to make comments like that to make you react like that, and talk about it, draw attention to the network, and make you watch what they say next?
I know how you feel. The MSM in particular loves the Red Sox to no end.
Like seriously why the hell do they have to bring this up AGAIN? http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/s.....n-baseball
Every time Hideki Matsui steps to home plate, I can’t help but ask myself, “HOW could the New York Yankees now have retired Spud Murray’s uniform number?”
Kruk just claimed that Tex was always known as a “stat” guy- just worried about his numbers- but now that he got what he want, long term contract and money, he’s more of a team player.
It’ll happen.
man i totally was sayin how the offense won’t score much off this kid
however, let’s hope i will be proved wrong
Zach,
Anyway, I’m not even someone complaining about him. I was just arguing that with Jober, along with AJ who has a bad injury history that AP was signed to be more than a 5th starter. That’s where we disagree I guess. Nothing wrong with that.
The offense has worked the count well and should get into scoring runs soon.
let’s get some runs here, I don’t know how long Pettitte can keep up the Houdini act
Houdini act? They have 2 hits. I think he’s pitching pretty well.
only two hits, but twice they have had RISP and less than two outs
Right, and one of those was because of a passed ball. I repeat, he’s pitching pretty well.
I know Swish is bored but, is he really filing his nails!?
Hernandez is not that good, the offense needs to wake up.
I hope we score soon. We have worked the count and hit the ball pretty well. Now we just a chain of hits.
WTF offense? Which part is that surprising – not crushing a kid they should crush because it’s the 1st time they’ve seen him or Cano leaving the bases loaded when they could have opened up?
Why exactly should we crush him? Also, Cano had a good AB and hit the ball hard.
ye swung at boul 4 a couple of times, but thats just cano he’s agressive
Oh, sorry, I missed the “Hernandez is Walter Johnson” Memo.
The guy has been good in a SSS. On what planet does that mean “we should crush him.”
You’re right, we should crush everyone that doesn’t have a sub 3 ERA.
I’m tired of the Yanks swinging at the first pitch. This guy has nothing but a fb. His control isnt’ good. Why not make him throw a ton of pitches?
he threw 35 in one inning, then 24 in the next
they are making him work a bit
Then he threw something like 12 and 9 in the following innings. Yankees might have changed their strategy.
or maybe the pitcher made an adjustment
Well if his fastball sucks then they’ll want to swing at it.
Tex message time.
reception fail
C’mon Tex
Teix hit a homer.
Or not.
Cmon Tex
Damnit Tex
i hope they start scoring soon! andy hasn’t been that bad but who knows how much more he can take. it looks like everyone is trying to hit a homerun
well this kid had a great day
5IP, 3H, 3BB, 4K, 1ER
good job young man, and now let your bullpen allow us to take this game over
coulda, shoulda, woulda been worse
I wonder if Cla Meredith is available for the O’s is tonight.
no
Thank you for the GIDP, Huff.
Fistpump that Huff.
Nice DP
That was pretty sweet.
Man, Giambi never turned a DP like that, yet Tex makes it look routine.
Yea, I didn’t even those type of DPs were possible after watching Big G
what a impressive looking way to… TurnTwo?
Sick, AP set for the 7th at 87 pitches.
That was a sweet DP
Nice Double Play fistpump!!!!!
Now Andy can pitch at least another inning…good little efficient 6 pitch inning
A-Rod will hit a homer in the bot of the 6th inning.
don’t make those predictions…they jinx the players
alex, seriously?
What? The ball he let roll? He had 0 shot at getting the speedy Jones.
well we got outta that
This guy sucks and the Yanks can’t do anything.
yeah yeah yeah we know
It’s his last inning
We got him over 100 pitches – that’s something.
If we can’t hit the O’s bullpen it’s bupkes.
Runs are the important stats, not pitch counts or any other BS. We don’t have as many as we should.
Why would you give up a lot for George Sherrill? That’d be the last guy you would give up much of worth.
under club control for cheap, good closer, killer on lefties.
wouldnt give up alot for him but he can get you a nice return
True. Forgot about the club control. That said, I don’t know if he’d fetch the most of the guys mentioned in the poll.
I guess I’m just being too picky.
no i agree, he wouldnt get more than roberts, scott, huff maybe because hes in his walk year. and forgot who else was on the list
Last 12 pitches … our lineup has recorded 5 outs.
Cano is soooo overdue for a HR
Start it off easy. How about an RBI?
This is getting pathetic now.
damn i thought he’d be gone by now (this pitcher)
yah, there goes all those “out by the 5th” predictions…
Well, that was pathetic.
Last 14 pitches … 6 outs …
Damn, I can’t believe we’re at the 7th inning already. Apparently the bats are still snoozing from the good pitching this weekend.
Well that inning sucked too. Hopefully, he doesn’t return the next inning.
He averages 109 pitches per start and he’s only at 101 pitches – so we might see him for one more inning.
This game has the Melkster written all over it.
If this turns out to be true, I will lead the movement to compose a theme song for that man.
I love Cano and all, but he needs to stop swinging at every pitch.
Yea, I want him to swing something similar to way he was in April. He was relatively patient, had a more closed stance, and was crushing the pitches.
remarkably he had a 9-pitch at bat in the 2nd but has seen 3 pitches since.
I like him too, but I don’t see this happening any time soon.
He’s hitting .350 this month…
Yes, and he’ll always be prone to huge swings in batting average because he has little interest in taking pitches.
Millwood making it look easy with that barehanded grab.
Great catch but risky as hell!
How the fuck is it the 7th inning already?
Early dinner reservations?
Hardy-har-har.
this has to be the shortest any game i’ve watched has felt in a while
For a billion dollar franchise, they can’t get a better radar gun.
Revenue sharing. They bought a nice one for Kansas City.
FWIW Medchill’s raking again, 2-2 with a double and RBI.
and little Ramiro Pena hit a HR, too.
Question – off topic, but does anyone have the link to the latest release of porspect rankings? I am having an discussion with a Met fan that is trying to tell me that Montero was not ranked in the top 10?
http://www.baseballamerica.com.....ts/?p=5456
Thanks! Peter Lugers here I come.
that whistle sounds like the PC richards and sons whistle jingle
did they pay for that ?
yessir.
Good job Andy.
That’s some nice pitching by Andy today. We better get him this win.
I like vintage Pettitte: some Ks, ground ball DPs, and an occasional Houdini.
i hate how Smoltz’ pants stop 3 inches before his shoes
He’s a team player so he’s saving the Sox money on clothing.
He’s showing off his red socks. The idiots in the front office redesigned the road uniform to include Yankee blue socks (along with the Yankee blue lettering) until the fans and media screamed. Dumb move for a bunch of pretty smart guys.
damn, pettite could go 8 if we can get him a lead
I hope this happens this inning:
http://www.nomaas.org/images/melkymilk.jpg
+53
damn
Phil Hughes looks like he is having fun…
yep!
throwin the ball up and down
Where the hell is our offense?
Bring back the Old Timers — I want to see some scoring!
Oh please for the love of Mo don’t let the offense get into another slump when the Yanks lost series to the Nats and Marlins.
I’m with you, but it looks like tonight’s offensive performance is more like sleepwalking than slumping.
This game is bboring.
with the Mets season in the tank, maybe YES can get Keith Hernandez on loan from SNY.
Ya and he can talk constantly about how Tex has no range.
Via CNNSI (jon heyman: Toronto’s request of the Mets for star pitcher Roy Halladay was for top outfield prospect Fernando Martinez, young pitchers Bobby Parnell and Jon Niese and shortstop prospect Ruben Tejada, sources tell SI.com.
The Mets responded with a resounding no.
Just saw this.
Omar Minaya is the worst GM in baseball. Or maybe Riccardi. Omar out-dumbed Riccardi on this one.
Jesus.
Please Toronto, make this trade. Please, please, please.
Guys it’s not like you can just import new arms. You can’t just wave a magic wand and three new guys appear.
If I dont say it, no one will.
Drum roll……?
thats what she said
Andy giving the yanks length
thats what she said…
ahahaaaa LOL
Wow Mo takes his time writing his signature for the fans. What a guy.
i have a mo signed ball
he signed about 20 balls in houston last year
i love that guy
The top of the order needs to get some runs in this inning or, so help me, I will pitch a verbal tantrum on the internet!
Fear me, Yankee offense!
Haha IETC.
After that series with Detroit the offense has forgotten that it’s ok to score more than two runs a game…
Justin Verlander, the Oriole bullpen is not.
Ahh, there’s my boy warming up.
C’mon double play ball
Wow Hinskie.
Wow, Hinske played that great.
Oh boy…
Oh crikes, we have a jam.
Holy schnikeys! They got out of it.
Izturis will be appearing in Kangaroo Court tomorrow, methinks.
oh man that really sucked
Pitching change came one batter too late.
Lets go Coke.
Hells yeah, my boy can cover home!
Nice freaking play Mark!
pure awesomeness.
times 2!
Dead Texy. What a pimp.
Nice job by Hava Molina too.
i love tex more and more every day
Oh, Tex, thank you for reminding us what defense at 1B looks like!
I love this fucking guy.
DAYUM DEFENSE.
Teixeira is so money.
If Giambi was there he would have tagged first and let the run score.
Why not walk Jones to get to Huff?
OUT!!!!
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
TOTALLY planned it that way!
And Andy answers the RAB’s Pettitte Death Watch.
Classic
Wow. Just wow.
orioles=fail
HOLY FUCKING CHRIST CAN WE SCORE SOME RUNS NOW?!?!
Hey Rebecca,
We got Hernandez’ pitch count up. What more do you want?
I LOVE YOU MARK T
YOU ARE A GENIUS!
Damn nice play.
Wow. Amazing plays by both Teixeira and Molina.
Molina !!!!!
Coke !!!!!!
What a play !!!!!!!!
*jaw on the floor in shock…*
Wow that was exciting.
Times 2 at least!!!
He missed the plate! Nice escape boys. Time to win this one.
fukin molina is gangsta
PHIl COKE- GET OFF MY PLATE!!!!!!
EFF YOUR PLATE !!! [/dave chappelle
HELL YES!
There’s no way they don’t win this game now.
Wow. Thats all I can say.
2 great plays in 1 inning.
what a great way to get home from work and turn the game on. nice D yanks!!
wow..unreal..
Damn wasn’t watching TV when Teix made his play, what happened?
HEHE I eas just thinking about Roberts possible trying to steal home.
WOW!!!
I LOVE THE YANKEES DEFENSE THIS SEASON!!!
Score here, bring in Mo, celebrate by finishing the beer in my cooler.
I can’t brain today. I have the dumb.
holy fucking defense!
I think Coke has thrown three pitches the past 2 days and recorded three outs.
Those last two plays: orgasmic.
I wish fangraphs could figure out the probability of those last two plays happening in the same half of the season, much less back to back outs.
i like posada, but i also feel like he wouldnt have made either of thoes plays
You would be correct. I love him too but he would not be able to make those plays. On the flip side, Jorge may have hot a 2 run bomb bit thats another story.
New thread please, my computer is frying each time downloading 170 messages
My computer’s not having any trouble. It’s only 172 comments. We usually go to 400.
It was slow for a second, electronic burp I guess or metaphor for the offense
its called firefox… get it!
What? Better than Internet Explorer ???
Chrome’s the fastest, but it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles FF does.
IE x 10
By the way, why are we all getting so excited about the calls at the plate? I mean…the ball did beat the runner in both cases. That’s an automatic out.
What?
Oh.
Pretty close, I must say
….
They really need to turn down the mic on Tex. That’s like the 10th time we’ve heard him yell something out after popping up since the break.
Or he could just stop popping up so often?
yeah… i was going to say, or show him where the batting cages are so he can get some extra swings in.
Forget a run, just get a freakin guy on base.
We still need a run.
Tonight is another example of why we don’t need Halladay, but will tomorrow be another reason??? Mitre??
I have to travel tomorrow and wanted to be in bed by 10. What are my chances? Walk off in the 9th please. No extra innings!
OH COMON. That did not hit him.
No way that hit him!
Arod goes deep
Cmon Cokie…no runs here
“Please, win this game, Baltimore.”
“No, no, I insist New York, YOU win the game.”
“Don’t be silly, old chap. I’d have it no other way. You win it.”
“I’ll have no more of your ballyhoo, New York. Now take this game and be on your way.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it, Baltimore…”
[I'm suddenly bored again]
IETC
yes, +1
I love it when I can hear the player curse over poor contact.
Of course, I love runs more.
double play ball coming………….
Wow Fred Lynn out there in center
That line drive scared me. Good thing it hung up just enough.
Nice catch by Melky
Nice catch Melky
The Melkman playin some D
Melky says no one is taking my walkoff away MFer!
This comment has improved my night greatly.
LMAO
As Mo would tell AJ, “Don’t mess with karma”
Quieten Richardson was traded for the third time this off season, is that a record? It has to at least tie some sort of record?
you mean this season
WOW Major fail me! I didn’t add in “off” but you had it there all-along.
Where is he now, last I heard it was the Clippers again, did they dump him?
yeah they traded him to the twolves
That’s got to hurt your self-esteem, the knicks didn’t want him, the grizzlies, the clippers, and now the Timberwolves, not exactly the titans of the league
Ugh a good throw and he’s out
that wasn’t that good of a throw
My point exactly.
oh haha i misread that
Actually I just re-read it and can see why u misunderstood.
cmon…. its luke freaking scott
hes a good hitter, something Reimold is not.
OH BALLS!
Who cares about Army vs. ND ????
somebody
Comon Ace bear down
Lets go boyzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
OOOOOOOOOOOO looked like he drilled it better than he did
That scared me for a second.
Mexi G FTW.
Big Al time.
I like our 3 man bullpen.
I feel like I could score with Jessica Simpson on a rebound before the yankees score in this game.
AROD is due for a walkoff
Nooo, CANO is due for a walkoff.
as long as its a solo shot
OK we got out of that…now please end the game someone and get pied in the face!
Rod. Homer. Please.
lol at people booing a-rod
morons
Lots of Baltimore fans in attendance. There always is.
F’n Matsui stealing Melkys walkoff. What a scumbag.
Bah, that was ticketed for CF until it hit the mound.
I left the room for a second and heard “walkoff, walkoff, walkoff” I was like fuckkkkk.
Then I realized that was a previous game.
sorry for the blue balls
how’s that feel? Matsui, walkoff, geisha-style
I’d love a cheapie for us right now…
Damn, thought that would squeak up the middle.
Was that a shift to a righty? wtf…
LOL!??!?!?!?
Matsui almost stabbed himself with that swing
No offense these days, we need metal bats
What ever happened to Brian Bruney?
fuck yes!
HITDEKI!
Matsui!!!!!
WALKOFF!!!
good night fellas!!!
HELL YEA!
GODZILLA-SON
GODZILLA WITH THE WALKOFF!!!
YANKEES WIN!!
Oh yes Hitdeki!
BOOM!!
He’s done.
Do you see what happens when you give Hideki a pre-broken bat?! Do you?!
I just creamed my pants.
GODZIRRRRAAA!!!
AAAAnd hideki broke RAB
A THRILLA FROM GODZILLA
HOLY FUCK
NINE WALK OFF WINS
I LOVE THIS FUCKING TEAM
My word, Cash is such a fool for not trading Matsui when he had the chance.
GODZILLAAAA!
MATSUI!
GODZILLA!!!!!!!!
AN A-BOMB FROM HIDEKI.
HELL YEAH.
ICWUDT
MMAAAATTTSSSUUURRRRRIIIIIIII!!!!!
The Japanese press are probably freaking out about now. They love their Hideki.
HIDEKI.
No, not you Irabu.
Dude huh huh I think we just like, uh, scored.
How many Yankees have walkoffs this year?
Nine
Nah I think he meant players.
There’s Melky, JD, Al, Matsui, and one more I think.
How can one forget Jorgie getting a pie to the face?
haha. My bad.
BOMBS!
MATSUI CRUSHES ONE!!!
95 mph- but matsui cant hit over 93!!
He would crush Hughes and his 91 mph.
Matsui is usually on the other end of cream to the face.
LOL – You’re bad!
lmao
‘Matsui is wiping the cream off his face”
oh boy
Best pie in the face yet.
Oh, how I wanted to see Matsui’s translator get the pie in the face! I’ll settle for the win, though.
11 runs in 4 games and they’re 4-0.
Imagine if they had the Sox pitching!!!
While I obviously want the hitting to get back on track, it’s great to see pitching carrying this team, because we all know what wins in the playoffs.
BRING UP SHELLEY!!!!
And I make it to bed by 10. I thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee fan.
You lucked out!
Burnett, you sneaky s.o.a.b!!!
He’s sneaky like ninja.
3RD consecutive 2-1 win and back to back win where both runs were solo shots.
Against Verlander one of the runs came off of Cabrera’s infield single. I believe the other 5 runs came off solo shots though.
Tex hit a 3 run homer on friday, after Jeter singled and damon doubled ( i think….)
Defense and pitching wins games
The helmet toss is so sick.
The bat toss after the homer was pretty cool too.
Offense better wake up tomorrow with Mitre pitching
Rich Hill is pitching so dont worry
they are facing a guy with 7.22 ERA
they will be firing
This is probably easy to find out but I doubt we had many 2-1 wins last season. Definitely not three in a row.
This may be a ballsy statement, but I think this is the most enjoyable to watch team of this decade, thus far.
they remind me of the 2007 red sox
they are having fun, and clutch in the later innings
this team is very fun to watch
The ’05 and ’07 teams that came back from the dead were fun, too. But after 9 wins likes this, how can you argue?
I think it’s also just the feel and atmosphere around the team. They’ve got the homeruns, the speed, the fielding, and they’ve shown a lot of great character on and off the field. With it being the beginning of a new era with the new Yankee Stadium, it’s starting to eerily feel like the makings of one of those blessed Yankee seasons.
You know, I’ll say this: for as frustrating as the series against Boston, Florida and Anaheim have been, this season has had just a ridiculous amount of awesome, fun moments. And, really, when it comes to sports, isn’t that all you can ask for?
it’s too bad the yankees are a team who depend too much on the HR, or else they could win more of these close games…
… oh, wait, what?
Michael Young HR ties the Sox game. We could be tied for first tonight.
Annnd were tied in Texas!
MICHAEL YOUNG IS ON FIRE
Single, Double and GAME TYING HOME RUN!!!
Melky and ARod looked like they were trying to catch a wedding bouquet when Matsui threw his helmet.
pretty sure they do this every time
So glad we DFA’d Matsui….wait, what?
shelley would have hit it in the 7th to get andy the win
teh yankeez is teh unclutch [/gammons’d
Welcome to Texas John Smoltz. Young HR to tie the game followed by a Hamilton double.
blalock rbi single
3-2 texas.
3-2 Texas!!!
GO TEXAS!
RANGERS LEADING! 3-2
LETS GO RANGERS!
CLAP CLAP CLAPCLAPCLAP!!
BBTN says Izturis “lost the ball” on Roberts double. give 0 credit to Cano for deeking him out
These walkoffs, and even just all the close games in general, have been awesome. Starting to feel like a special season.
former red sox great david murphy pays them back with 2 run HR
5-2 texas!
5-2 RANGERS!!
DAVID MURPHY WITH THE 2 RUN BLAST!
5-2 Texas!!!!
another HR!
6-2 Texas!!!!
David “That’ll teach you to trade me for Gagne” Murphy with the 2-run jack to make it 5-2
Wow, back to back of smolts.
Ha Smoltz you tool
smoltz is getting pounded HAHAHA! PITCHING DEPTH!
Caught this one in my car — took Sterling a little while to realize what had happened:
“Swung on . . . “”DRILLED TO DEEP RIGHT! THAT BALL IS HIGH . . .” etc etc
Very odd.
What’s odd about that? Sterling often sounds like he’s not watching the game he’s announcing.
Smoltz done for the night
5.2 IP, 9 H, 6 ER, 3 HR
Seems that the best offseason acquisition in baseball is underperforming.
in all of his starts its only one inning
/msm’d
Dollar for dollar he is a better pick up than CC Sabathia. He really gives the sawx enviable depth.
/Gammons’d
unmatchable depthhh
6-2 RANGERS!
And now it’s time to pour SALTalamacchia in the wound! Ahem.
/Michael Kay’d
LOL
/douche chills.
Smoltz 5m, 125k bonus, 35k per day hes on the roster >>>>>>> CC 161m
Manny delCloser walks Elvis Andrus.
homerun by montero
I wonder what kind of remark John Henry has about this. I said Smoltz was a tool, despite being as good as he is (was). However, John Henry is the biggest tool in Boston.
I started to get the feeling the world was going back on its correct axis when that tool started talking trash about Tex. It’s time for them to remember they’re the Red Sox after all.
BBTN does a recap of TB/CHW and fail to mention anything baout Price going 6 IP 4 ER
Put him in the 8th. He is not helping you by going 6 innings and giving up 4 ER.
/Verybody on ESPN and MLB network’d
montero go-ahead jack for Trenton in the 10th…
How does that make you feel?
orgasmic
Hey now!
thats what i like to hear.
The Jeter phenomenon is going to be nothing compared to what happens when Jesus hits the Bronx.
That’s the answer I was looking for!
ALL HAIL JESUS
ALL HAIL JESUS
and the pen blew it…medchill with the walk off single for SI’s 10th straight.
Jesus makes this night even better.
Updates on him are like Christmas morning and my birthday all joined together along with some fireworks.
That Teixeira trade looks better and better for Texas everyday.
We will NOT see another trade of that magnitude for some time. GMs don’t want to look stupid.
Though, it says something about their scouting – as good as the players are, they weren’t quite as heralded when the trade went down.
I agree. Salty was the centerpeice and he might end up being the least valuable piece of the trade when all is said and done. Crazy!
Roy Halladay trade will be one of that magnitude, it basically swings the power of who’s favored for the WS
Mets already turned down a trade that was less than the Teixeira trade.
why would Doc waive his no trade to go the Mets to finish under .500 this season and maybe be competitive last year?
Someone’s going to trade for him and someone’s going to give up good prospects for him
Some good prospects, but nothing like the haul Texas got for Teixeira.
They’ll get one A prospect, 1-2 Bs, and a C level.
I could see Philly giving something up, but not Drabek.
Ok I agree with that, I took it the wrong way. MY point was that the ‘magnitude’ of Halladay trade- the effect it will have on the season (and possibly next) will be greater than what Tex was to Atlanta.
Oh, definitely.
they literally robbed the braves blind
wait until you see neftali perez next month when he’s called up
he throws 99-103 with ease at the age of 20
Neftali Feliz, but your point is still valid. It was definitely the most one sided trade I remember since AJ Pierzynski to the Giants.
feliz
my bad
Neftali Perez doesn’t exist
There’s even a whole article about his mysterious ways.. read on
http://and-that-happened.blogs.....perez.html
I enjoy this team immensely. I hope it gets Matsui the ring it could never get Moose.
Smoltz ain’t a starter anymore. I think he can still relieve though.
Bill Simmons:
“Gee, I can’t believe John Smoltz’s start went badly. Thought for sure a 42 yr-old NL starter would kick ass in mid-July Texas.”
+$5,000,000
Did you know that if you take the innings where Smoltz has given up runs out of consideraation he has an ERA 0.00? That’s a HOFer!
“I decided it was good I didn’t spike that ball…I got that closing speed” Phil Coke, ladies and gentlemen.
‘dont let my size fool you’ ha
Welcome to the fuckin AL Smoltzie.
Man, I am tired of the Boston slobber jobs. MLB Network (Harold Reynolds): “Boston is the only team that has a bullpen where that (Smoltz going only 5 innings) could work, with guys who can go multiple innings of shut down ball.”
Hughes and Aceves say ‘hi’.
yup, the bullpen can shut texas down and still lose 6-2
dont you realize that part of their jobs is to make comments like that to make you react like that, and talk about it, draw attention to the network, and make you watch what they say next?
Well, it didn’t work. I turned it off
I know how you feel. The MSM in particular loves the Red Sox to no end.
Like seriously why the hell do they have to bring this up AGAIN?

Woah, Shooter Hunt in ROOKIE GCL ball yesterday.
0 IP, 0 H, 4 R, 6 BB, 0 K
Makes Brackman look like Maddux.
No kid should struggle like that in GCL ball ;especially Shooter – who’s got some college polish. What do you say to him after that …
I would go with this instead.
Every time Hideki Matsui steps to home plate, I can’t help but ask myself, “HOW could the New York Yankees now have retired Spud Murray’s uniform number?”
Michael Young with a sick catch hanging over the dugout fence.
Was not expecting him to come back with that. Sick is right.
Kruk just claimed that Tex was always known as a “stat” guy- just worried about his numbers- but now that he got what he want, long term contract and money, he’s more of a team player.
What. The. Fuck?
The glasses make look smart, but don’t actually make him smarter.
1st place.
