Marte begins rehab assignment

Lefty setup man Damaso Marte actually pitched in a game today, beginning his rehab assignment by allowing a run on two hits in an inning of work for the rookie level GCL Yankees. We heard this was going to happen the other day, but I don’t think any of us were going to believe it until we actually saw it. Marte has been MIA since April after coming back from the WBC with some kind of shoulder injury. A healthy Damaso Marte would be just as good as pretty much any reliever out there on the trade market right now, so I’m sure the team is eagerly awaiting his return.

I really hope hes healthy hell be a big help in that bullpen but i still hope he can get another arm in that bullpen.

    • Salty Buggah says:

When he returns, why do need anther arm?

      • yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

so hughes can go back to be a starting pitcher i noe hes doing an exellent job but i prefer hughes to be a starter and maybe we can aquire a set up man.

        • Salty Buggah says:

I want Hughes in the rotation too but I doubt the Yanks put him in the rotation still

          • yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

Well i cant complain about hughes hes been great in his role and if that means well win a championship this year with him in the pen ill take it.

        • Ed says:

You can still put Hughes in the rotation if Marte is effective. Mo / Hughes / Aveces / Coke + whoever did the job fine until they had to use Aceves as a spot starter. Put Marte in the bullpen and a stretched out Hughes in the rotation and everything should be fine.

          • Lanny says:

Why do we need another arm especially a lefty? Have yo watched the pen the first half? Why wouldn’t you want another lefty in the pen if hes competent???

  3. jsbrendog says:

i had to get in here and say, before all the ppl who don’t lke statistical evidence get here, DAMASO MARTE IS AN EXTREMELY GOOD RELIEVER

    • yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

he is an a effective on when hes healthy in 10 seasons he has 3.43 era thats preety good.

      • Lanny says:

So, he’s good if hes not hurt? Makes sense. How can you say with a straight face that hes been “an extremely effective reliever” the past year?

Based on what? Rep? Face it. Cashman screwed the pooch when he just didnt pick up his option and instead signed him to a long term deal. I think even Cashman lovers can admit that.

        • Chris says:

Screwed the pooch? Is this Craig Carton under another name? God I can’t stand his rants when he goes on about Cashman and how he is a weasel.

  4. GG says:

Lets hope he has something in the tank

  5. Charlie says:

his injury must have been pretty bad, the guy’s been gone forever. i wonder if the yankees just completely forgot about him or something until a few days ago.

Girardi did say Marte felt discomfort in he’s shoulder in spring training but what did CAsh and Girardi do let Marte get beat up in April.Injuries like Marte will keep happening if Girardi doesn’t take injuries seriously.

lol at No Maas’s midterm infield grades.
If you get a minute, check out Cody Ransom’s grade. It’s good for a chuckle.
