Mike Dunn was added to Northern Division All Star roster as an injury replacement. Meanwhile, Jorge Vazquez will participate in the Homerun Derby before the Eastern League All Star Game next week. Double-A Trenton hitting coach Frank Menechino will also take some hacks.

  • Johan Iz My Brohan

DJ Mitchell would be insane pitching in NYS with those ground balls.

  • Andy In Sunny Daytona

Hey look, a Manny Barreda sighting! I shall nickname him “El Zorro del Desierto”.

  • pollo

    Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrr Office Kroenkeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Reggie C.

    Bigger upside:

Arodys Vizcaino or Matt Richardson ?

    • pat

Most likely Viz, he’s got the bigger arm.

  • Jeffrey

DJ Mitchell is exactly what the Yankees need in the new stadium. Getting ground balls and having ground ball pitchers will eliminate the power alley and prevent painful homers.

  • Jeffrey

Hmm good night for pitchers in the minors. Johnson, Mitchell and Zink each went at least 6IP and gave up 1 or fewer runs.

    • Game-On

      …and Richardson GCL. 6ip, 2 hits, 0 runs.

Manny Barreda is the third player they signed out Mexico along with Alfredo Aceves and Manny Banuelos, yes?

    • http://www.retire21.org Mike R. – Retire 21

No. He was a late round draftee a couple years back.

    • Jack

Didn’t Pena come from Mexico as well?

    • A.D.

      Vazquez

  • Ashish

In rather important news, Ryan Reynolds has signed on to play Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern movie. Yay!!! Go Yankees

    • J

      van wilder!

  • http://www.teamnerdrage.com leokitty

Angelini made a few nice plays at short in the first game.

I think the org has given up on him completely, though. SI has some terrible defense and keep playing guys like Castro at short instead of him.

    • J

uh what? hand out a cool million and give up on him this soon?

      … smh

      • http://www.teamnerdrage.com leokitty

I didn’t say it made any sense. Maybe he was achy but there were about two weeks when he didn’t get any time at all and he didn’t play the second game today.

        • Bill O

He’s had some serious issues this year and I’m guessing the Yankees felt that the solution wasn’t to just keep throwing him out there and letting him struggle. They’re probably working on some things with him between games.

    • J

and secondly, ang is in SS-A not GCL-R wrong shortstop thats “replacing” him

      • http://www.teamnerdrage.com leokitty

Uhm, Kelvin Castro is on the SI Yankees and along with Johnny Parades and Hector Rabago has played SS this year over Angelini.

        • http://www.teamnerdrage.com leokitty

I momentarily forgot about Emerson Landoni as well. Though I believe he got added recently (beginning of the month) and is a natural SS.

  • BigGuy

Actually Jackson didn’t throw the runner out at home. He hit the cutoff man who was Ramiro Pena. Pena threw a perfect strike to throw the runner out at the plate. It would have been the tying run. Jackson has played right in 5-6 games so far this year and left in at least a dozen.

  • Mike Ashmore

That would be Austin Krum in the that Double-A write-up…

    • Andy In Sunny Daytona

You have to call yourself “Mashmore” on here from now on. Coolest baseball name ever.
